Draft:List of Palestinian athletes killed in the Israel–Hamas war

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As of 26 July 2024, around 400 Palestinian sportspeople,[1] at least 245 of them footballers (69 children and 176 young men),[2] have been killed amid the ongoing Israeli invasion of Gaza, according to the Palestine Olympic Committee and the Palestinian Football Association. The Israeli invasions have also led to destruction stadiums and closure of clubs.[3][4]

Palestinian football, by passing through the developments of the second intifada and successive Israeli wars in Gaza, was able to enter the Asian Nations Cup in three consecutive periods. But the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip has made it difficult for the Palestinian football team to participate in the preliminary stage of the 2026 World Cup and the 2024 Asian Nations Cup.[5]
