Jill Cohn
Would someone from this Wikiprojet take a look at and assess Jill Cohn? It was prod deleted a couple of years ago, but has just been de-prodded after a contest by someone claiming to be Cohn herself. If it can be saved, then fine; otherwise, AfD might need to be considered. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:46, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
Cecilia Lundqvist
Would someone from this WikiProject mind taking a look at Cecilia Lundqvist and assessing it? The article has been arond for more than ten years, but it is still a stub and still not supported by any citations to independent reliable sources, so it's not clear how this person meets WP:BIO or WP:ARTIST. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:17, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
Wiz Kudowor
Any opinions on whether Wiz Kudowor meets WP:BIO or WP:ARTIST? Article has been around since 2006, but it is still without any inline citations to reliable sources and most of the external links are dead, but seem to have been only to user-genreated pages or other trivial mentions. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:46, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
RfC: Which pronouns should be used for Zoë Quinn's biographical article?
Hi all, just wanted to garner more input in this RfC located on the talk page for Zoë Quinn's BLP article. Not sure if this is your department or not, let me know if I'm overstepping.
Normally MOS:GENDERID would be very easy to apply, but unfortunately in this case some circumstances have made this difficult. Add in the inherent controversy and inflammatory nature that follows anything to do with Gamergate and you have the stew we now find ourselves in.
Can your editors provide some input so we can get this cleared up? Thanks. --Shibbolethink (♔ ♕) 02:06, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

RfC for pedophilia terminology at the Milo Yiannopoulos article
Opinions are needed on the following matter: Talk:Milo Yiannopoulos#RfC: Should the article include text/sources analyzing Yiannopoulos's statements on pedophilia?. A permalink for it is here. The discussion concerns whether or not to mention that sources note that Yiannopoulos's definition of pedophilia is technically correct, but also that the term is used more broadly than the technical definition (to include adults engaging in sexual activity with minors, or specifically committing child sexual abuse). Improve a draft article: Elisa Montessori
Hi all. I am finalizing Draft:Elisa Montessori. It still needs one or two additional main sources, few images and a check up of all the templates, but the core part is ready. I could prove that it's a relevant artist, there is no doubt about it. Her work was cited on national newspapers dozens of time, she was married to an important person, she took part many times at the Biennale in Venice. Unfortunately, I am not sure about the final style (order of paragraphs, titles...). For example, I have found a dedicated documentary by a quite important director, where should I cite it?
In general, I did my best to copy the style from other articles of modern XX century artists but I still have a lot of doubts. Can I ask for your expertise for at least the more obvious minor corrections?
Also, since I found mostly minor sources as a starting point, the process was very slow and fragmented and I am quite sure this affected the overall grammar and tone. When I don't think about the whole sentences, I frequently end up using more unwanted calques from my mother tongue.
So i'd appreciate any feedback and if someone can take a look. This would definitely speed up the final steps. i have no hurry, but i hope to publish by the end of next month. thanks in advance.--Alexmar983 (talk) 21:55, 4 April 2018 (UTC) (P.S. please do not remove the free urls in the text, i have to to incorporate them, it's there as a reminder)

Question about Hugo-award
Michael Z. Williamson has been nominated for deletion, which has caused a bit of activity. My question per this edit [1] is, does the cite support the statement? It's the "no award" thing that makes me wonder. Pinging Dballing. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 14:48, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- Gråbergs Gråa Sång In the Hugos, voters have the option of saying "we're not going to award the award to any of these nominated works". So (in the case of the edit in question), it is accurate to say that the author is a Hugo-nominee, but (effectively) "there was no winner in that category that year." (and the edit doesn't claim a win). It's not terribly common that "No Award" 'wins', but it does happen. DBalling (talk) 15:03, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
- DBalling, I know nothing that contradicts what you say, so I'm ok with it for now. But consider expanding on it in the body of the article per WP:LEAD, basically if it's not in the body it shouldn't be in the lead. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:07, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Request for information on WP1.0 web tool
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Do ratings make sense at all?
Hi, dear people, I just read the article on Doris Salcedo and was impressed with the plenty of detailed info in the article. Then i looked at the talk-page and it says "This article has been rated as Stub-Class on the project's quality scale." - but it is no stub! - I understand that a page gets reviewed and rated when it is started, but are they getting "revisited" and "rerated" after some period? Would someone from this WikiProject mind taking a look at this article, particularly the Todd Komarnicki#Career section. Working off the assumption that the subject meets WP:NCREATIVE, the "Career" section reads like a personal/IMDb type of page that needs to cleaning up. I'm not really sure it's needed at all since it's nothing more than promotional synopses of each film, but perhaps there's a better way to incorporate information about Komarnicki's career into the article as well as more information about his background. There was a been a bit of cleanup done a few weeks back by Drmies after an earlier round of IP editing, but more is probably needed. I came across this article by chance after see 67.87.57.220 posts on another editor's user talk page. The IP is claiming to be an intern for Komarnicki's production company; even though this particular IP has edited the BLP yet, it might show up there eventually if being asked to do so by his/her boss. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:00, 5 March 2020 (UTC)

How large should a Gallery be in an artist's bio-article?
Have come across some rather large galleries in articles about artists and was wondering if there's a guideline or discussion somewhere about how many images should be in a gallery. I'm thinking that just because we can add in large numbers of images into galleries doesn't necessarily mean we should.
For some examples see the following:
I removed galleries from some of the above articles because they seemed superfluous/unneeded and they overwhelmed the text. One gallery was restored but am looking for additional input here - how much is *too* much... Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 15:58, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Peer review request Raoul Whitfield; advice on images
Hi! I hope I am doing this correctly. I am still very new to Wikipedia editing so I would appreciate any help and advice. I recently opened a peer review for an author I was doing some research on: Raoul Whitfield (link to the peer review page). I am hoping to get some feedback so that I can improve the article, and also improve my Wikipedia editing skills. I actually already realized there are some misspellings (sorry) but I didn't make any changes since making the peer review request. I hope anybody reading this wouldn't mind giving some feedback and/or making the edits they think are necessary!
I am also lacking an image of his, as well as an image of his work, i.e. cover of the Black Mask (magazine) from September 1930 that features Whitfield's writing. I am quite hesitant with uploading images even under fair use since I am not confident in my knowledge of American fair use law. I saw that the cover has been uploaded to Archive.org that have indicated that Keith Alan Deutsch is the assignee and holds the copyright. He seems to be on LinkedIn, and also has a website. Does anybody have experience getting in touch with copyright owners of images to request their use for Wikipedia?
Thanks in advance to anybody who can offer some help, advice, words of wisdom, thoughts and prayers, etc. :)

Non-notable works of a notable author
If this is not the right place to ask, I apologize and I would be grateful if you would re-direct me.
I am in a debate about what is appropriate to put on in author's article. In particular, whether it is appropriate to include a short summary of a review of a book she wrote, which is not notable in itself. I have been trying to find a guideline that clarifies the situation, and all I found that was the one that the List of works should be complete. I was considering writing an article about the artist Corbin Shaw. I made a blank draft page in my userspace, and then tried to make a big list of sources for the article. I would appreciate if project members here could conduct a thorough assessment of the Jess Margera page, which is poorly sourced, poorly written, and of questionable notability. Efforts to constructively edit the page in even minor ways, including my own effort today, are met by resistance from User talk:FMSky and User talk:Rift, who both routinely project ownership over pages, issue harshly-worded "warnings" to editors who are making reasonable and constructive edits, and both delete and are unresponsive to substantive talk page notifications from other editors about their editing patters. Looking for collaboration in article "David Gonzalez"
Hi, I wrote this article by a multi-faceted New York artist that is now in draft format: Draft:David Gonzalez (multi-disciplinary artist). The article is part of Wikiproject arts, WikiProject Children's literature, and WikiProject Biographies.
I respectfully ask if anyone can help me in making the wording neutral. The most important reference is an article from the NYT. https://www.nytimes.com/1999/02/12/movies/orpheus-as-a-charmer-with-a-sax.html can also be viewed here: Thank you very much Miskito89 (talk) 15:43, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

Writer vs author?
A textbook definition might be — A writer is anyone who writes, an author is a writer who has been published and credited for their work. So – all authors are writers, not all writers are authors.
So ... maybe this is a daft question, but ...
In the context of WP articles: Is there an agreed reason to ever describe somebody as a writer or will an article always be about an author ?
Alternatively – Is a writer ever notable? — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 17:09, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
Carol Sklenicka
Would some members of this work group take a look at Carol Sklenicka? The article seems to start out as a BLP about Sklenicka but the focus then shifts to being mainly about two of her books. Perhaps there's enough about each of these books per WP:NBOOK for separate articles to be created about each of these books? -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:08, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
Questioning notability of Anita Bobasso and Jorge Perez Evelyn
Copied from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Argentina
During arguments with another user over content within these articles (the latter of which is a WP:COMMONNAME argument), I have performed a WP:BEFORE on both of these subjects and could not find any sources to establish notability for either of them. While my next step is an attempt at deletion, I do not see any success with a PROD, and while I would like to send one or both of these articles to AfD, I am currently not inclined. Is there anyone more experienced with these subjects able to assess these articles and see if it's possible to AfD? I will support deletion if the arguments are strong enough. Thanks! Roderick L. Evans
Would someone from this WikiProject please take a look at Roderick L. Evans and assess it per WP:BIO? It seems to have been pretty much unsourced since its creation and the few general sources cited don't really establish Evan's Wikipedia notability. it also looks like the article has been heavily edited over the years (most recently a few days ago) by an WP:SPA who might be somehow connected to Evans. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:37, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Sam Tallent
Could someone from this work group take a look at Sam Tallent and assess for Wikipedia notability per WP:NENTERTAINER and WP:BIO. There's lots of sources cited, but quite a number of them just appear to be passing or routine mentions. The sources might need to undergo some vetting and possible trimming; for example, there's thirty citations to YouTube. The article is only a few weeks old and was created in the mainspace; so, it didn't receive any vetting per via WP:AFC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:03, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
Legrek Parond
Perhaps someone from this WikiProject could take a look at Legrek Parond and assess it for Wikipedia notability. It's a relatively new article that wasn't submitted to WP:AFC; so, it never underwent any formal kind of assessment. The article was created by an account that's only about a month old, so they creator might not be familiar with things like WP:NAUTHOR or WP:BIO. Currently there are no sources cited that are helpful in estabishing any claim in Wikipedia notability, but perhaps they're some local sources that might help with that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:17, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

Donald Rooum
Please excuse my loose terminology, but I see that the article for Donald Rooum has been assigned to 'Arts and entertainment' for which it has been assessed as low priority. To the best of my knowledge Donald was principally known as an anarchist, which he promoted with his Wildcat cartoons. I suggest that the article is better understandable without the assignment. Consequently I would be grateful for feedback about the prospect of deleting it. I leave open the prospect of assigning the article to the political working group, which I assume exists, because this is the first time I have become aware of working groups in WikiProject Biography.John Desmond (talk) 09:24, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

Pete Brock
Since Pete Brock is listed as falling under the purview of this working group on its article talk page, I'd figured I'd ask about it here. I'm wondering whether some others might take a look at this because it looks to have been recently edited by two accounts that might be connected to Brock.Although I believe the subject probably meets GNG, most of the recent additions are unsourced WP:PUFFERY and promotional speak.I've done some rudimentary clean up but would like some other input before removing much of this new content. Most of the images that have recently been added also have issues and have been nominated for deletion over on Commons. FWIW, I only stumbled across this article because one of the recently added images was added to the same line as a section heading, and this was causing the heading to not display properly. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:39, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
