List of creatures in Primeval

[edit]

You've been making a lot of edits to List of creatures in Primeval without any explanation for them. Many of the edits do not seem supported by episodes from the series, which is a story of fiction and does not have to follow real-world rules. Could you please explain your edits in edit summaries and provide sources for the changes? Thank you. --AussieLegend () 10:36, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Hollyoaks characters (2014), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jessica Fox. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Tosh Mackintosh

[edit]

Hi, can you please stop changing this to Fiona "Tosh" Mackintosh without discussion. The character's WP:COMMONNAME is Tosh Mackintosh, as she was rarely ever called Fiona in the show, despite how she was credited. Thanks. If you don't agree, please discuss on that article's talk page. –anemoneprojectors17:09, 25 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

If you intend adding links to episodes, please ensure the links are correct. As should have been obvious by this edit and edit summary, the format that you are using is incorrect. For the correct method of linking, see that edit and the instructions for episode list. --AussieLegend () 12:32, 10 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

EastEnders number of episodes

[edit]

Hi, I wondered if you wouldn't mind refraining from updating the number of episodes after every episode, but instead perhaps doing it once a week, just to save on clogging up the page history and editors' watchlists. It's up to you though, but in the past it's always been left and updated weekly or fortnightly. Thanks. –anemoneprojectors10:12, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Okays, sorry I'll begin editing it every Friday after tonight then — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiEditor73 (talkcontribs)

Thanks, I do appreciate that you're updating it though. In fact there used to be times it wouldn't be updated for maybe 6 weeks, but that's too long in my opinion. –anemoneprojectors22:10, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Just wondered if you see the irony in this edit. –anemoneprojectors21:41, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I guess not. Anyway, I do appreciate you updating my episodes list but could you follow the same format - i.e. only wikilink the first instance of each name per month, and use characters' full names the first time you mention them each time? Thanks. –anemoneprojectors18:41, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have been looking for episodes of soap operas to update for a while, so I was thrilled to find your article. I will complete the edit summaries over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks. I didn't really start adding summaries until later in the year but wanted to keep them as brief as I could, whilst still giving the most essential plot details - about two lines on the screen is good, or three if it was a longer episode, but more is ok if a lot happened! I wanted to update them but for me it seemed a daunting task - easier to do it one episode at a time after I've watched it, which is what I was doing between June and September. There are more episode lists at User:AnemoneProjectors/List of EastEnders episodes. –anemoneprojectors13:27, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I look on the BBC episode guide and put the plot in a very short summary of my own words.

Thanks, it should all be in your own words. Not sure if you quite got what I meant though - link the first mention of each character in each month, using their full name - so for example, "Mick Carter and his wife Linda Carter did something together" but then in the next episode just "Mick and Linda". I've had a look at some of your updates, and notice you put "Honey is left reeling by Billy's desperate actions to keep his children in his life" - I think it would be better to state what the actions actually are, if it's possible, and if they happened in that episode. I'm making a few updates now. –anemoneprojectors16:25, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I understand now, and I will try and re-word certain sentences such as "Honey is left reeling by Billy's actions" to explain the character's actions to leave the other character's in shock.

Thanks, I will check it all anyway to see if there's anything that I think needs changing, I can always look up the episode myself if I need to. I find it much easier to update when I've just watched the episode - which is why I'm looking forward to 1 January 2016, so I can complete an entire list! –anemoneprojectors18:02, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, could I ask how you found the amount of episodes each character has appeared in so that myself or you could add some missing characters (e.g Nancy Carter, DC Emma Summerhayes). Thank you

Edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! – JuneGloom07 Talk 18:49, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can't emphasise enough how useful edit summaries would have been for some of your latest edits, especially the ones where you removed large chunks of prose from articles. Please consider using them in the future. - JuneGloom07 Talk 20:54, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Linda Carter

[edit]

Hello,

I have undone your edit to Linda Carter. Please note that EastEnders characters do not use the "born" field. This is because they are fictional characters created by a team of writers, therefore they created and not born. Thanks--5 albert square (talk) 00:47, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think this applies to all soap characters - the soap character infobox no longer supports "born" or "died". –anemoneprojectors13:12, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ellie Leach

[edit]

Hi,

I thought I'd talk about why I put Ellie under recurring characters. I agree she has featured in highly publicized storylines, but it's more to do with the number of appearances. One month, she could do quite a few episodes and not be seen on screen for a long time after.

Take April and May, she was heavily featured and in June, July and August, she has appeared in very few episodes. Ellie is more of a recurring character like Simon and Amy due to the fact Ellie is a child actress under 16 and has her work hours limited etc. Thanks.

Grangehilllover (talk) 12:25, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I just thought as Simon has been in the highly publicised domestic abuse storyline, Faye has had the teenage pregnancy plot and Amy has been trapped in the Victoria Court fire, I thought that was make them regular characters. Thank you for letting me know and I will keep them that way in the future.

Hi,

No problem.

Episode number discrepancy

[edit]

Hi, thanks for adding the episode numbers that we have available and for updating my drafts with the full number of episodes. However, there's a discrepancy. For example, we know that 19 February 2010 was episode number 3952, and going on from there, all the numbers up to 30 December 2011 follow on, to episode number 4344. However, you've put 1 January 2012 as eps 4348/4349, meaning 4345, 4346 and 4347 are not accounted for. I know that 1 May 2012 was 4419, because I had a reference for it at the time. So there must be some mistake somewhere between 3952 and 4419. I had hoped that when the numbers were filled in, it would all work out, but it doesn't (and I hope that it still does when 30 years' worth of episodes have been listed). Can you help at all? –anemoneprojectors22:31, 5 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please can you not "avoid" redirects when those redirects work perfectly well, for example, as you did here, there are very good reasons for using redirects and very good reasons for not changing them. Please see WP:NOTBROKEN for more information. Thanks. –anemoneprojectors07:49, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop doing this - for example, changing Kat Moon to Kat Moon. The redirect from Kat Moon to Kat Slater works, and by using "what links here", we can see when the name Kat Moon is used, if all instances of the text "Kat Moon" link to the redirect Kat Moon, and then if we decided that all instances of "Kat Moon" needed to change to "Kat Slater", it would be easier to find which articles need this. That doesn't mean you should go around changing them back though, just leave them alone :-) –anemoneprojectors14:12, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm asking you again to stop doing this - this includes changing Stacey Branning to Stacey Branning or Sharon Mitchell to Sharon Mitchell, or anything else like this. AnemoneProjectors 12:16, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2024 revisit

[edit]

Hey, can you please stop doing this, as you did to Zoe Anderson? Many of the characters you are linking have the potential to be made into articles, and you changing them to their list entry rather than their redirect will make others have to do more work in correcting them when the articles are made. EastEnders characters and Category:Fictional English people

[edit]

Hi, could you do me a favour and revert all your additions of EastEnders characters to this category? They are already all categorised there via Category:EastEnders characters, which is a cubcategory of Category:Fictional people from London, which is a subcategory of Category:Fictional English people, so they should not be placed directly in this category. Thanks. anemoneprojectors 14:34, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The same goes for other English soap characters if you have done the same with them. anemoneprojectors 14:35, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, should I do the same for the Coronation Street characters too? User talk:WikiEditor73

I've done a few Corrie ones already, actually. If they're Scottish, that's ok :-) Also sometimes characters don't need to be categorised as criminals if they're already categorised by their crime, i.e. fictional con artits. anemoneprojectors 14:40, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
by the way don't worry about any other characters if you didn't add the category, I'm sure I'll catch them at some point so no need to check :-) anemoneprojectors 14:42, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, what about the Category:Fictional smokers, because I have added certain characters who smoke and they have been removed? Is it because the category is for characters who are well-known for smoking? User talk:WikiEditor73

Oh yeah, for smokers it has to be a defining characteristic, such as Dot Cotton, where we have a whole section about her smoking. But for someone who is just seen smoking every now and then, they probably shouldn't be added. Thanks for being so cooperative by the way, I felt a bit out of order asking you to do it! But it's probably easier for you to know what you've done than for me to check. For now, you only really need to worry about the English category. Thanks :-) anemoneprojectors 15:08, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's fine. Thank you for informing me of my errors. User talk:WikiEditor73

Cool :-) Don't worry too much about making mistakes, especially in EastEnders pages, as they're all on my watchlist and I will always correct things when I get to them on my watchlist! It was just that in this case there were a large number of pages and I haven't caught up on previous edits to those pages just yet ;-) anemoneprojectors 15:26, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, also be careful with the fictional shopkeepers and fictional market stallholders categories - they are for those who own and run the business, not those who work there, so for example, Pam Coker is a stallholder, Paul Coker is a salesperson. Denise Fox and Honey Mitchell are also salespeople, not shopkeepers, but someone like Dev Alahan in Corrie would be a shopkeeper. Just something I've noticed a few times. anemoneprojectors 19:13, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

EastEnders character lead sections

[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure we need to say EastEnders is both BBC and British, because the BBC is British by definition, but mass changes like that, affecting every article, ought to be discussed on WT:EE first. Thanks. anemoneprojectors 09:42, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Also I should add that if a redirect works, as the link fictional character does, then there is no need to replace it with a piped link to character (arts). See WP:NOTBROKEN for more information on that. Thanks.

Actually I'm going to revert your edits because the first B in BBC already stands for British. And we don't need a link to Television in the United Kingdom because it doesn't add to the understanding of any of the articles, except maybe one, EastEnders. anemoneprojectors 10:21, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Maxim Baldry, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page E4. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello. It is now well over a year since I asked you to read WP:NOTBROKEN and stop avoiding redirects, but you've been making edits like this again. Fictional character redirects to character (arts) so there is no need to pipe the links. If you continue these unconstructive edits you could be temporarily blocked from editing. Thanks. anemoneprojectors 08:48, 28 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's especially bad when you do this in my userspace. Any edits you make to the cast in that list will be automatically reverted in my next cast update anyway, because I do it from a spreadsheet that calculates the number of episodes, and I'm not changing the text in the spreadsheet based on your edits, which are misguided anyway. "Mr" and "Dr" do not have a full stop after them because the article is written in British English. Dennis is not credited as "Jr." so that is excluded (plus it's "Jnr" in te UK) and the link to Jean Walters works fine, so this is another case of your ignoring WP:NOTBROKEN. Another reminder that if you continue these unconstructive edits you could be temporarily blocked from editing. Thanks. —:anemone:projectors:— 07:31, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Also can you stop changing "The Vic" to "The Queen Vic"? As long as the first mention says "The Queen Victoria pub (The Vic)", that's all that's needed. You're wasting your own time and Wikipedia's resources by making unnecessary edits all the time. And mine, because I have to keep telling you what you've done! —:anemone:projectors:— 09:36, 3 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional deaths

[edit]

Hi, I wondered if you could undo all your additions of the word "death" to departure sections for EastEnders characters (and any others?). Fictional characters don't die - they live on in their episodes because they aren't real people. They are simply created and written out. Therefore, "departure" is all that's needed. Thanks. — anemoneprojectors 09:28, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

To add to this, please could you also undo all additions of a cross symbolising death. As AnemoneProjectors has stated, fictional characters don't die. Soaper1234 - talk 09:20, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes please undo all your little crosses. I reverted a bunch but you need to do the rest. Cause of end of marriage is not required in infoboxes and if it was, a meaningless symbol would not be the way to do it. Thanks. — anemoneprojectors 10:06, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Another request for sources

[edit]

As I'm sure you are aware, given your 2 years of editing, nearly 9,000 edits, and my previous note here, policy requires a reliable source when adding or changing material in biography articles. Trolling the Current Characters page

[edit]

Please can you STOP making the same edits to the 'List of current Coronation Street Characters' page? It has been mutually agreed that, while the actual articles SHOULD hold the most common names, the characters listed should have their current names - due to it being a list of CURRENT characters. There is no current character called Rita Sullivan, there IS a current character called Rita Tanner. Connorguy99 (talk) 23:40, 16 July 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Connorguy99 (talkcontribs)

@Connorguy99: Where has this been "mutually agreed"? I do not believe there has been a discussion about this issue, so there is no consensus. Happy to be proven wrong though if you can provide links. - JuneGloom07 Talk 19:27, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Several different editors have reversed this user's edits, as can be seen on the history. That is pretty mutual to me. Where has there been a discussion that the current names shouldn't be used for the CURRENT character's list? Please don't tell me about WP:COMMONNAME, this has nothing to do with the subject - it is talking about using the common names for the actual articles (which I agree with) not pages like this. Connorguy99 (talk) 22:42, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I will stop reverting these links to the character's individual article name. However, may I ask why on the Current Characters pages for EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks do not follow the same structure, and instead aim to keep the article names?

@Connorguy99: Your conclusion is not a consensus. There is currently a discussion about this issue on the talk page of the list. WikiEditor73 please also join in, as you make a valid point. - JuneGloom07 Talk 00:35, 28 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your feedback! I shall try and remember to fill this out in future.

Thanks again 👍 WikiEditor73 (talk) 21:37, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, may I ask why you are still not using edit summaries please? Blanchey (talk) 14:51, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I removed some information you had added.

I also started a talkpage section on this, just wanted to let you know. Malerooster (talk) 22:55, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adding parents DOB to bios

[edit]

Hi WikiEditor73, I see that you are adding this to a number of bios. Rather than reverting all these, are you seeing that this is done "normally" or is part of some MOS? I would/might bring this to the BLP project and see if there is any consensus for this type of addition. Your thoughts? Thank you, Malerooster (talk) 23:02, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Malerooster,

Thank you for your message. If you wouldn’t mind raising this with the BLP project, that might be useful. If we can add the dates / lifespans of these people to add additional information to the articles, I personally think we should, but obviously let me know your thoughts / what the feedback is. Thank you! WikiEditor73 (talk) 23:06, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I posted at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biography. I would not add this information, but would provide a link if one exists and people can click through if they are that interested. It seems that most well written bios do not add this. I do not believe it adds to our understanding of the article subject in any meaningful way. I'll keep you updated. --Malerooster (talk) 16:23, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biography#Should_biographies_include_the_dates_of_birth_of_parents_in_the_Early_life_section?.--Malerooster (talk) 21:26, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Suonii180. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Samantha Womack, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Suonii180 (talk) 13:26, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

Okay, thank you! I shall look at revisiting these edits once a reliable source has been found.

Thank you again. WikiEditor73 (talk) 00:10, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stylisation of song titles

[edit]

Hello. Please see MOS:CT and WP:TMRULES. If a title is rendered in all caps and is not an acronym, this is considered a stylisation and we decapitalise it. As I pointed out in my revert summary on Rêve (singer), the keyboard shortcuts aren't even capitalised on most keyboards (Ctrl key, Alt key and Delete key) so I don't see why the title should be rendered as such a stylisation. Thanks. Ss112 10:34, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
