Removal of External Links

Removal of External Links

Wikipedia is not a directory for links. Read the official articles on the matter before you go around deleting external links. The official stance is that if an article is ONLY a link and a short description it should not be on the website. Not wanting to enter a revert war here, but the proof is right in the link. They state in their press release "This extremely lucrative and creative scheme consisted of a private file sharing website being set up. Membership was by invitation only. The site allowed the uploading and downloading of pre-release music and media to thousands of members. Members paid donations via debit or credit cards, ensuring their continued access to the site. The payments were received electronically into the web site company accounts." and "This is big business, with hundreds of thousands of pounds being made. Cleveland Police have worked closely with the IFPI and the BPI on this investigation and are already on the trail of the money generated, expected to be in the region of hundreds of thousands of pounds, via the Proceeds of Crime Act." make you think he made hundreds of thousands of pounds by only giving membership to people who paid, this was simply not the case. After looking at the enforcement page I realized that for the request to work (I think?) the user needs to have reverted after a 3RR warning is placed on his/her talk page. Beware of user Ghanadar galpa

Please let me aware you of user Ghanadar galpa. User Ghanadar galpa seems to be an irrational Indophilic propagandist. See the Talk:Human rights in India. There he have falsely accused me that I have violated WP:CIVIL by boldifying words and refering him in third person in a article talk page? He had added POV texts in Human rights in India page. Custodial death is very high in India, torture in widespread in police custody. But user Ghanadar galpa tried to make it seems like that the police is innocent and the custodial deaths are exaggerated. In the Custodial death section of that article, he added texts like "The media in India enjoys a wide measure of freedom and has enormous reach and power. Technological advances witnessed during the last few decades have provided the media with new abilities hitherto denied them", which I later deleted. He is accusing me that I am not neutral. But the truth is that, it seems user Ghanadar galpa cannot tolerate any article or text which depict human rights violation in India, which depict violence against non-Indian religions in India. As I am trying to bring the truth in light, he is accusing me that I am not neutral. In India, violence against Christians by Hindu-nationalists is a issue. Conversion to Christianity or trying to convert someone to Christianity may result in death in India. His motivation is very clear. He is using wikipedia as a tool to spread a dirty Indophilic propaganda. See this[1]. He have just whitewashed the mention of anti-Indian sentiment in Sri Lanka. Why? Seems very clear. He could not tolerate the texts "The atrocities committed by the Indian Peacekeeping Force and support for LTTE in southern India".

• User Ghanadar galpa is presently busy in a dirty propaganda campaign against me and articles I have created. He is more likely to disrupt the articles and texts he claim "anti-Indian".
• He used several wikipedia policies abusively. He nominated the article Anarchism in India for speedy deletion claiming it attack page. See this[2]. Anarchism an attack page? Please note anarchism has nothing to do with attck. In wikipedia, there are articles depicting anarchist movements in various countries. Thus this article depict anarchist movement in India. See Talk:Anarchism in India. Also see List of anarchist movements by region. Currenty he has nominated Anarchism in India for deletion to spread anti-Anarchist propaganda.
• He also used anonymous IP address besides his username to edit wikipedia. The IP address 70.112.72.233 is used by this user for editing same texts. See this[3] and this[4]. This IP address has good contributions to the article on Bharatiya Janata Party, a political party in India known for there Hindutva ideology. See this IP address's contribution to the Hinduism in Malaysia[5] - added information on anti-Hindu incidents.
• See his edit in Deepa Mehta, a film-director faced opposition by Hindu fundamentalists. He added criticism section. His intentions are clear. He is trying to disparge subjects critical to Hindu fundamentalism.
• I have created an article Anti-Christian violence in India. I know fanatic Hindu fundamentalists will not be able to tolerate this article. User Ghanadar galpa has nominated this article for deletion.
• I have created an article Crime against foreigners in India. Do you know rape incidents on foreigners are increasing in India? Scam are prevalent in India with scam artists preying for foreign tourists? I have added all these information in that article. But some user have nominated it for deletion claiming it non-notable. Now user Ghanadar galpa is abusingly trying to distract the debate there. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crime against foreigners in India and see [6] and [7]. He is now busy to distract votes from favour of articles I have created which this guy see "anti-Indian". I want to acknowledge good editors these facts. The Wheelman

Based on the new citations I incorporated, the film will be based on the video game. Therefore, the video game is the central topic at The Wheelman, and the film will be based on it at The Wheelman (film). It's not the other way around. I'm trying to fix the page histories as a result of the content being moved around. So have faith and let an admin do the history merge. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 18:56, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

It's kind of tricky to explain the page moves, but here are the facts:

1. The Wheelman was originally the article for the film in development, while The Wheelman (video game) was the article for the video game in development.
2. When I improved The Wheelman (video game) with information about both the video game and the film, it was shown that the film would follow the video game. Per topic centralization, it's appropriate to have the "source material" have just the name.
3. Since The Wheelman was about a film based on the video game, I moved it to The Wheelman (film).
4. I could not move The Wheelman (video game) directly to The Wheelman like you suggested -- a {{db-histmerge}} has to take place because The Wheelman already existed as a redirect.
5. The end products will be The Wheelman, about the video game, and The Wheelman (film), a film based on said video game.

However, per the notability guidelines for future films, I think that The Wheelman (film) should redirect to The Wheelman#Film adaptation because the project is not yet in production. This is because the film is not at all guaranteed to be made -- see the placement of Spider-Man 4 and Jurassic Park IV as a couple of examples. To be honest, I'm not sure why. :) I've used WP:RM in the past, but perhaps I wasn't thinking in this regard. The histmerge should take place within the day any way. Are you OK with the merge taking place? True, an edit count is always nice (I like to update mine every 1K edits) but sometimes we do work that does not necessarily show how many edits we put in it. For example, I am working on a subpage User:Erik/The Painted Veil for The Painted Veil (2006 film), and when I copy the subpage to the article, I'll be putting up {{db-author}} on the subpage, losing 20-30 edits. Right now, The Wheelman is about the video game, and The Wheelman (film) redirects to The Wheelman#Film adaptation since production has not begun on the film. The production of a film is not guaranteed before it actually begins shooting due to factors like scripting issues, budget issues, casting issues, etc. So if production on the film begins, The Wheelman (film) can be revived as a stand-alone article for the film. A full film article layout isn't appropriate for such projects in development because there isn't a guarantee that there will be a film. In the film industry, there are many announced projects that do not necessarily make it to production. This is why we have the notability guidelines for future films -- just because a project has a script or a director does not mean the film is guaranteed to be made. For example, I put Time Share up for deletion because the project was announced in June 2005, but there has been zero progress since -- kind of similar to The Wheelman. Check out the following projects that have not entered production, being instead stuck in development hell: Ant-Man (film), Castlevania (film), Fahrenheit 451 (2008 film), The Flash (film), The Hobbit (2010 film), The Jetsons (film), Jurassic Park IV, Knight Rider (film), Logan's Run (2010 film), Magneto (film), Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run, and Voltron (film) are some examples that support the logic for the notability guideline. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 21:53, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Supermatch Soccer external links erased

Dear SkyWalker.

I don't understand why you erased the two external links in the entry Supermatch Soccer. Perhaps the first one wasn't very interesting, but the second is the only website in the Internet where I could download Supermatch Soccer demo: other sites have it but protected with password or simply don't work when trying to download (and the official website doesn't exist). So I think at least the second link should be re-added, at it's a game not sold nowadays and difficult to in find second hand market.

HOMM V external links

Good evening. A few months back you removed all fan-based external links from the Heroes of Might and Magic V article.

Recently, the local definitive gaming magazine slammed the official documentation as inexcusably lacking. It gave high praise to the fan manual that was behind one of those links, mentioned that it had eventually acquired the blessing of the publisher and developers, and gave an URL. Definitely a valuable external site, and I see nothing that would forbid it in the relevant one among our many rules.

What is up with deleting community resource links for the Sins page? The links are NOT spam. They are legitimate community links. If you doubt it check the official forums or visit the sites for that matter. Maybe I might be misunderstand something then. When I check the edit history is shows you as the one who removed the links. I just checked it again and it should you as remove the links again. So I undid the edit. Modding and Clan activity are a major part of the title. They are as important as the reviews for the game. We are trying to organize clans and start modding projects but this are going slow and the full tool set is not out yet. It is not my misunderstanding. It is you who have made the mistake of saying sins instead of saying sins of a solar empire. Coming back to your argument. It might be important to the game but it is irrelevant when it comes to adding it in wikipedia. Please read WP:External Links. Fansites is not tolerated and adding clan links such has you had done is not tolerated.
