Technical evidence shows that this claim checks out. Sorry about that! Most people I discover who are trying to impersonate other accounts with a close username aren't them and are doing so maliciously. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:50, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Welcome back! :-) I would advise redirecting User:Scorpions13256 and User talk:Scorpions13256 to this account. I'll also be happy to leave a dummy edit after your changes made there so that others know that I've verified your association with the other account through checkuser evidence. Let me know if that's something you'd like me to do... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:51, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Scorpions1325,
- I recommend mentioning your username change on your User page. I was very suspicious of your account when I saw an account with 101 edits offering to mentor another editor. And you had all of these advanced permissions! Messages on your User talk page get removed or archived so a User page note would be helpful for admins to be able to see that you are a longtime editor who changed their username. Thank you. Blacklisted user due to old block
Hello Scorpions1325, I know you are a busy editor, as i can see from the libra chat #cvn-wp-en. On that note, I would like to let you know that you are still listed as a blacklisted user, informing #cvn-wp-en of most edits you make. While I know this is not urgent, it would be helpful to me and possibly others, if you were to remove yourself from the watchlist or get another admin to remove you from the watchlist.
Yours,

- An RfC is open regarding amending the paid-contribution disclosure policy to add the following text:
Any administrator soliciting clients for paid Wikipedia-related consulting or advising services not covered by other paid-contribution rules must disclose all clients on their userpage.

Changes of category
I see that you changes "Gastropods described in..." to "Snails described in ....". There are already more than 42,000 articles in the WikiProject Gastropods. Your intention is good, but it actually serves no purpose. We prefer the term "gastropods" to "snails", as it covers "slugs" as well. JoJan (talk) 08:55, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

19th-century American journalists
Hi. I noticed that, without explanation, you used cat-a-lot to remove Category:19th-century American journalists from several women's biographies who were clearly 19th-century American journalists. I've reverted some of these after noticing one such revert by A. B., but before I continue down that road, I wonder if you could clarify why you made these edits? Thanks. --Rosiestep (talk) 13:21, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- A.B., Rosistep. Sorry. Perhaps I should have provided a justification. I removed those categories because they already contained Category:19th-century American newspaper editors. That is a more specific category. Scorpions1325 (talk) 16:44, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- A. B., Rosiestep. Sorry, I got the pings wrong. Scorpions1325 (talk) 16:45, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- That would be okay if they never worked as a journalist. An example of someone who did is Mary Virginia Proctor, who served as
... president of the Ohio Newspaper Women's Association
and was a... regular contributor to The Cincinnati Enquirer, and furnished many articles to other dailies and magazines
, so, IMO, she should be included in Category:19th-century American journalists. Shall I double-check the others, or will you have time to do so? (cc: A. B.) Thanks. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:54, 6 October 2023 (UTC)- Rosiestep, you can revert them all if you like. Scorpions1325 (talk) 19:04, 6 October 2023 (UTC)

Categories on Wikipedia
Hello, Scorpions1325,
I just thought I'd mention that the category hierarchy on Wikipedia has been discussed endlessly, argued over at WP:CFD for 22 years now. It's pretty much set. I see you are an enthusiastic new editor and I appreciate your energy. But unless it's some phenonmeon that is brand new or an annual event (like 2023 or 2024 events) that has just been set up or scheduled or a country, company or species that is changing their name, it's unlikely that you will come up with a brand new category branch or tree that hasn't already been considered.
If you'd like to learn more about categories and Wikipedia's category structure, I encourage you to participate in discussions at Categories for Discussion where you can learn more the categories on Wikipedia and the naming procedures that have developed over the past two decades. The editors who participate in CFD discussions really have encyclopedic memories about categories, past and present, and I encourage you to become more acquainted with them before you embark on any major recategorization/renaming projects. Thank you for your contributions. Liz Read! Talk! 21:30, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- Liz, This is actually my second account. I abandoned my first one (more than 200,000 edits) after I was convinced that my health had deteriorated to the point where I could no longer contribute. I had been wanting to change the categories on Gastropods for years. You can delete them all per U1 if you'd like. Scorpions1325 (talk) 18:59, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

NFL player IP
I know you've been helpful in the past at getting the notable NFL submissions of IP 74.135.234.253 approved - the IP has been doing a bunch of them recently, the vast majority of which I expect are notable but are being declined - would you be willing to take a look at some of them and add SIGCOV / move to mainspace the notable ones (as I'm busy currently)? I'd appreciate it. Thanks, BeanieFan11 (talk) 15:41, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

WikiBreak
Hi Scorpions1325! I saw your post on WP:AN, and I'm sorry that you are thinking of leaving the project - you've done a lot of good work here. I also know how hard it can be to break away from something that has become a habit, even if you think it is the best thing for you. If you think you need help to leave, while self-requested blocks are almost always refused, they are still an option and if you feel the same way in a week it could be considered. But a better solution might be WikiBreak Enforcer. Set it for a couple of months - it means you still have an option to return one day, if you feel like you are in a better place, but it will force you to stay logged off for a set time. I find that if I stop doing something for a month or so I get past the habit of doing it and it becomes a choice again, if that makes sense. It is an equivalent to a block that you can set yourself, but it doesn't go to the extreme of losing all future access through an unrecoverable password change, and thus might be a good compromise. At any rate, I wish you the absolute best, and I do hope to see you around again when (or if) you feel it is right for you. - Bilby (talk) 11:48, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, Scorpions! I too saw your post at WP:AN, and the part that really concerned me was I have been tempted for over a year to do something that will ensure that I am not welcome here ever again so that I won't be able to create another account. If that's where your head is at right now, I am willing to block (with certain conditions). I agree with Bilby that a wikibreak enforcer is a better choice, but if that doesn't work for you, you can post in this section or ping me to it and we'll talk.
- My primary goal here is to recognize that one of the things you're struggling with is a strong temptation to burn the bridge, and that you're trying to be responsible with that struggle: you don't actually want to do damage, but you're sorely tempted, and you're asking someone to block you to remove that temptation. And while you recognize WP isn't therapy, I do believe we can be supportive when it really costs us very little. Valereee (talk) 12:15, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- Adding to the above, Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to consider placing self-requested blocks may be of help. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:24, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- Scorpions1325, I admire the work you've done to make your life better. Most people are too afraid to face their problems head-on as you have. Deep brain stimulation, changing habits, etc. - you're a good example to others including myself (I don't need DBS but there are bad habits I've needed to change for a long time). There are lots of people here (and on Wikipediocracy it looks like) that are cheering you on! --A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 07:42, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

- I see where the discussion is going. I don't know what is being linked there, but I will say that I do not favor criminal penalties for anyone who receives an abortion before 24 weeks. I should have made that clear. Yes, I acknowledge my opinions on life and death are extreme by today's standards. In 2017, I was banned from Quora due to civility issues, but I managed to avoid it on Wikipedia until now. This year, I got electrodes implanted into my brain to control my OCD. Every two months, I travel to New York for a research experiment to see how other parts of my brain interact with the OCD part of my brain at different DBS settings. This can be pretty emotional, but I do it anyway as I feel I am suffering for a good cause. Thankfully, I only have 2 more sessions left though. Beginning in June, I started to get very anxious for no reason after the doctor adjusted my settings a little too far. It was debilitating to the point where I had to be hospitalized in July. On August 18, I gave up Caffeine not long after a particularly bad session, and things just suddenly got better. However, I was still hard on myself for letting my emotions overcome me for the first time in a long time. This, combined with spending too much time reading talk pages made me more angry. Furthermore, in September, I got a job delivering mail for the Post Office (I intend to work here forever), and I moved out of my parents' basement. I am worried that my performance is not satisfactory, and that my future looks bad. This is my number one source of stress at the moment. For the first time in my life, I have also realized that the people I wish to associate with in the real world are small in number. My opinion of the project has substantially improved since this meltdown, as I see that more people are aware of the problems I have noticed since 2014. I can't guarantee that there will be no more drama, but I think the odds of it happening have fallen 75% or more. If it does happen, I will need to leave though. Hey Scorpions! Two of the IP NFL player drafts appear to possibly have enough coverage in The Lima News; however, for some reason that paper does not work for Wikipedia Library users. Hi!
Your removal of text (in which I have no vested interest, by the way) for "copyvio"... Copilot says "The text you provided appears to be unique and not verbatim from any specific online source." Please explain deletion for copyvio. Thanks
--GRM (talk) 15:45, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Grmanners, The person who added the text was Ruigeroeland. He was indeffed for massive copyvios. In his earlier days, he would add unsourced content to articles that were actually copied almost verbatim from offline sources. Unless we can identify where he got his information from, the people at WP:CCI have agreed to remove everything he wrote. He was one of our worst plagiarizers of all time. Copyvio on Dispar compacta?
Hi there, I noticed you removed some text I wrote in the article Dispar compacta as copyvio (see this diff) and it's left me a bit confused. I have checked all the sources I used in writing that article and can't find this sentence used anywhere, nor could a match be found using Google or Earwig. Your edit summary just says "copyvio" so I'm not sure how you determined it was copyvio, or what source it would have been copied from. I would much appreciate it if you could please explain you basis for this removal so I can decide whether to reinstate the sentence as is or if it needs to be modified before being added back into the article. Cheers, Ethmostigmus (talk) 04:27, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ethmostigmus, I have restored the sentence. The creator of the article was Wikipedia's worst ever copyright violator. I have to go through so many articles to remove or attributed everything he plagiarized. For some reason, I mistook the content I removed from a sentence in initial version of the article Ruigeroeland created. I apologize if I caused you to do too much unnecessary work. Scorpions1325 (talk) 04:37, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Regarding boats, bands, and bugs
First, I appreciate for recognizing your misjudgement in the MfD and reconsidering your stance. I want to reiterate that my addition in Special:Diff/1222204349 was not meant as a dig at any specific editor. I'm not aware of who it is applicable to, and I do not myself interact with WP:Wikiproject Ships, I just pulled it as one of those nerdy and innocuous topic areas and which are relatively insulated to contentious gender politics disputes. In my next edit I changed this to "etymology and highways" as two more such examples. I clicked your contributions to see if you you were the WP Ships affiliated administrator in question. Cue me kicking myself as I see your recent activity on... moths, which makes the entomology bit sound even more targeted and suspicious. Facepalm. Although I can be snide or sarcastic at times, I hope you'll accept me saying that I am neither nosy nor petty enough to attempt to communicate in code like this, and these were honest coincidences.
