User page protection

I restored the previous indef semi-protection for your user page. I figure you don't want it removed, but let me know if you'd prefer it unprotected, and I'll reverse it. - auburnpilot talk 14:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tapes and pies

What is your opinion on celebrity sex tapes as opposed to List of people who have been pied? I feel that they're both humiliating to the subject affected and for Wikipedia to document them just because a newspaper saw fit to write about it on a slow news day is contrary to the purpose of this project. I was wondering what you thought too. Coccyx Bloccyx (talk) 18:27, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You were jobbed

Sorry about the removal of rollback, that's just wrong. User:Lar has said he'd restore your rollback privilege if you'll agree to only use it for vandalism. Go for it. I support you in your war against ED, but they're just looking for excuses to screw people here, don't let them get their way. Corvus cornixtalk 22:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

You recently stubbed Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy‎. Could you explain why? --Relata refero (disp.) 13:19, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll look through the history and see if there's anything salvageable. He's a fairly major political figure, running a state with more people than France. --Relata refero (disp.) 14:42, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

your usespace

There is a solution. For all pages but your talkpage, what you can do is put all the code of the pages in .css files, so only admins and you can edit it, and transclude the .css pages into the main pages, which would be fully protected. I can also sprotect all of your userspace, as well, if you wish. Maxim(talk) 00:46, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What parts? Maxim(talk) 00:49, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... I don't get why, though... Are they full protected? Also, I strongly suggest semi-protecting all of your userspace. Maxim(talk) 00:53, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did you intend for this edit to remain? It's still in your bio. - auburnpilot talk 01:02, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can always use a script to go over everything just in case. So, you want your mainpage and /bio unprotected so you can do the .css thing? Maxim(talk) 01:15, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

REKillzone

Had it been an attack directly at you, I would have blocked them immediately - since it wasn't entirely clear what he was talking about, I just considered it vandalism that merited a warning prior to a block. The user has been blocked, in any event. Sorry for the delay. Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:19, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I left a message for you...

... right here.

--NBahn (talk) 01:51, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said before

To be quite frank with you, you acting very paranoid. The whole world is not out to get you. Those comments I made on WR were inappropriate, I admit, but I am not trying to see the article recreated to spite you. I believe that it deserves an article, and I honestly believe that some editors such as you only oppose the creation of an ED article because of the attacks it has made against you and because of its general crassness. And no, I don't care if I cause people to hate me because I want to see that article recreated. I care more about the project than I do making friends and being popular. Maybe that's where you and I differ, Sceptre.--Urban Rose 19:58, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well you're not the only one to state that I seem a little obsessive on the issue, and I admit that I do tend to obsess over things that bother me. In particular, matters in which I perceive censorship tend to bother me a lot. If it wasn't ED, it would be something else such as young earth creationism. I will try to be less obsessive on issues such as ED.--Urban Rose 20:07, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can you get on it? Maxim(talk) 23:04, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ashley

Hi Sceptre. I respect the work you do here on Wikipedia and hope you'll rescind the unnecessary comment you recently left on my talk page; I was removing overdue unsourced material from the Ashley article. Thanks, (jarbarf) (talk) 23:46, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all -- I made my explanation quite clear on why I deleted this article in the edit summary itself. Second, there doesn't need to be an "up for deletion" template, really, because the "article" is clearly just a quick little bio someone did over his/her best friend's birthday! The guidelines say "DO NOT create an article about your best friend"! Cinemaniac (talkcontribscritique) 23:50, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Italics

Hi Sceptre - MOS doesn't directly address using itals to set off a section for a particular reason and I don't know what your reference to html means, but I can tell you that other Lost episode descriptions do use itals to differentiate flashbacks from present time, and it improves comprehensibility. Generally I wouldn't use them in an article either, but in my opinion this is a special circumstance that aids understanding, so I'd use them. Since MOS is a guideline, and exceptions can be made, I'd argue that this is a good time to make one. Tvoz/talk 19:20, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rfb participation thanks

Hello, Will.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your support, good luck on your exams, and I hope you feel better soon. -- Avi (talk) 17:51, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sceptre, I thought I'd let you know about my recent admin actions to your editor review page, and that I hope you have no problem with them. Best wishes. Acalamari 23:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. If it helps, I keep your user and talk pages on my watchlist, so if someone trolls and I'm online when they do it, I can help you out. Regards. Acalamari 16:05, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dharma logo in Half-Life 2- Episode 2.jpg}

Thank you for uploading Image:Dharma logo in Half-Life 2- Episode 2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. RfA thank-spam

Sceptre/Archive 49, just a note of appreciation for your recent support of my request for adminship, which ended successfully with 112 supports, 2 opposes, and 1 neutral. If there's something I've realized during my RFA process this last week, it's that adminship is primarily about trust. I will strive to honour that trust in my future interactions with the community. Many thanks! Gatoclass (talk) 06:26, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This particular...

...diff, made me laugh uncontrollably. Nice summary! Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 18:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly

I'm saying that one decision isn't permanently the law of the land. They've more recently tasked us with developing a workable policy on our own. That's the ArbCom's directive to the community, so we kind of have to do it, as you say, "per Jimbo". Why follow certain directives of theirs while ignoring more recent ones? -GTBacchus(talk) 23:28, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. On that page (WP:LTEH), I read:
Where an especially problematic link is encyclopedic content (e.g. in an article on someone whose notability includes harassing others), putting the link in plain text, e.g. http://www.unpleasant.example/, (rather than as a live link), or even just the domain name, e.g. unpleasant.example, is sometimes used as a workable compromise.
Discuss on the talk page; avoid edit-warring.
If ever some site's notability included harassing others, then ED's does. The use of a bare URL seems to be sanctioned by that guideline. I agree with you that a bare URL is kind of silly, but I don't think we can say that policy unambiguously forbids it. That guideline suggests it.
ArbCom are telling us, right now, to develop a policy solution for questions such as this. Maybe the solution we'll develop is "keep citing that one case forever", but I kind of doubt it. We should at least write it down somewhere else, if that's really going to be our strategy. At any rate, I'd like to see more people saying it before I accept that it's the solution we've arrived at. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:50, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your replacement of my Picture.

I don't want to sound mean or anything, but my image was better than the smaller, low-res one you put up. Plus, IIRC, using noclip breaks the original visual presentation of the item(s) thus creating a not-so-good picture. Also, other images with noclip in-game were removed for other misc. reasons on Wikipedia in the past.

Just a heads up. Blacklist (talk) 01:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 06:40, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merging RFARBs

Just a thought. I wasn't all that serious, as the other case is already gargantuan and overly-complicated, but it would be tempting to care of all of it at once, in "the mother of all Arb cases." Feel free to request that it not be merged, however, I doubt the Arbs will heavily weigh either of our comments in their decision. Ameriquedialectics 02:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
