I would like to learn more about wikipedia such as syntax, rights policies and other necessary thing that I should be aware before starting any editing. I am sorry I've already did some editing work. Cutest Penguin (talk) 17:19, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- The links Dsprc added below should provide lots of useful information - probably more than you immediately need. Regarding policies, there's a list of policies and guidelines, but the core content policies are to ensure verifiability, to maintain a neutral point of view, and to avoid original research. My suggestion would be not to try and read all that right now, but rather to use a learning-by-doing approach - look up policies when you're dealing with a specific problem and are unsure about how to handle it. Huon (talk) 17:58, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Alternatively, if you want to experiment, there is the Sandbox to play around in; you don't have worry about mistakes there or screwing something up in an article. There is also the standard Introduction and the interactive tutorial "Adventure" to get your Penguin feet wet. :) 「dsprc」 [ talk ] 18:16, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

the panda ₯’ 18:05, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Speedy deletion nomination of File:Anil Kumar Tyagi.png
A tag has been placed on File:Anil Kumar Tyagi.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. January (talk) 16:49, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

I want to start a new article but before that I would like to practice it at SandBox, but when I Edited the sandbox I found that it was redirecting to another articles which was created by me and approved by dangerpanda (user). Please help me by adding sandbox missing tags. CutestPenguin {talk • contribs} 16:59, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hello Cutest Penguin! When you made this edit, you removed the redirect. Your sandbox is now empty, and you can use it to start your new article. I'm not certain what you mean by "missing tags", but if you're referring to Template:User sandbox, you can add that to your sandbox by typing {{User sandbox}} at the top of your sandbox page. Hope this helps! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 17:23, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi! I see that you are new here, and still finding your way around. This is just to ask you not to mark a help request as "helped" if you haven't actually answered it in any way. Speedy deletion nomination of Reliance Foundation
Photo was kept as per as WP:OTRS do not add comments CutestPenguin {talk • contribs} 08:48, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Reliance Foundation, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://www.reliancefoundation.org/who-we-are.html#about-reliance-foundation. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
AlanS (talk) 13:01, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Feedback
Greetings! I saw you mentioned me on ANI in the context of Jeetpal Yadav. A few points:
- You are required to notify editors via their user talk page if you mention them at ANI. You did not do so.
- You say, "As well as the rights given to @VQuakr: is questionable since he moved the article without reviewing it." There is no user right for reviewing or moving pages.
- Also, I did not move the page without reviewing it; I userfied it and marked the redirect for speedy deletion. Candidates for speedy deletion are flagged as reviewed, so your observation was factually inaccurate (the article creator subsequently removed the R2 tag when they re-created the article in article space).
- Finally, even if I had moved the article without flagging it as reviewed, that action would have been entirely within the guidelines of WP:NPP, which specifically instructs patrollers to leave articles unreviewed in some situations.
I hope this clears things up for you, thanks! VQuakr (talk) 00:11, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- You suppose to review a article properly before moving it. And for your kind information, I did informed the editor as well as pinged you. That right I am not that experience but at least understand some of Wikipedia standards, I am here on Wiki for less than a 2 months. And as a editor I have right to keep the wikipedia spam free, neat, clean and of course stronger!. Please avoid personal attacks :'( CutestPenguin {talk • contribs} 07:47, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

California Silk Center Association
Hello Cutest Penguin, and thank you for taking the time to read the latest article which I've created, California Silk Center Association. I'm perplexed as to why you took the time to add 4 improvement templates to an article created 5 minutes earlier? I would have thought that since I had edited the article 4 times in 5 minutes, expanding it, adding a reference, adding cats, etc, you might have given me a bit more time to improve the article. But no worries, I've taken care of the concerns. While I'm a long-time editor with thousands of new articles under my belt, your actions have not dissuaded me from continuing to edit wikipedia, but I do worry that an editor with less experience might take offense by your speediness to criticize and just walk away from their computer. So please consider waiting a bit -- perhaps an hour after an editor stops working on an article? -- before you add improvement templates. Best, --Rosiestep (talk) 16:27, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Cutest Penguin, always consider waiting for atleast 2 hours after the article has been created (excluding copyvio & attack pages) before you add improvement tags. And Rosiestep, nowadays I have seen many same conditions, that is the reason why I suggest using {{in use}} or {{under construction}} templates. Regards, Jim Carter (from public cyber) 20:43, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
@Jim Carter - Public: Yup, 2 hours is probably better than 1. I've rarely had someone pop in with improvement templates while I'm first working up a new article so I don't commonly use {{in use}} or {{under construction}} in the article creation process. I do use {{under construction}} from time to time when working on something where we have a team effort going, i.e. prepping for GAN. --Rosiestep (talk) 01:14, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep: I am sorry if it was mistake but I think placing suggestion template was not a big deal as such using {{in use}} or {{under construction}} template. CutestPenguin {talk • contribs} 06:52, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Rosiestep: Draftspace and user sandboxes exist for the purpose of bringing new articles to an acceptable condition before moving them to article space. While you are correct that adding the templates right away can be seen as 'bitey', an experienced editor should realize that mainspace is a collaborative editing enviroment, and that adding improvement tags to an article that is being currently worked on is essentially the only way to do so without edit conflicts. Also, it's somewhat 'too much' to expect someone who comes across an article that needs improvement to always double check to see if it is 'new', or assume that the editor 'might still be working on it', and risk leaving the article in both a broken and untagged state. While I've not looked at the history of the particular article (I came here for other reasons) if an article is in mainspace and needs improvement tags, then editors need to feel free to add them. Once an article is in mainspace, you do not 'own' it, or even 'own' the temporary right to be to only person working on it. Reventtalk 17:50, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

DMacks (talk) 15:41, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- @DMacks: have I added, review it very carefully? have a look of these comparison one is of yours and other is mine! Its you who have added not me or maybe we both added. I am sorry if I said more in short! I would like to take help of yours if there is any problem but there is no intention of adding such links since earlier I was fighting for such spam links. CutestPenguin (talk | contribs) 16:30, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Several editors have been spamming onlineallresults.in; it appears to be a low-quality (blog?) site not specifically about any one school (or even about schools in general). It is just a link to its main site. That's why I removed that link, and instead (re)added the link to education-india.in; that site appears to be a directory entry with factual details about the specific school that is the topic of the article. That education-india link had been there for a while prior to the onlineallresults spam. I don't actually care whether it also gets removed (not sure its reliability or value beyond the school's own website). DMacks (talk) 16:34, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- @DMacks: You are right its a small quality bloging site. Earlier I faced the same problem where some users were adding refes. from htcampus.com without even cite to many articles epically which was about colleges and universities. I did so while restructuring the article by mistake. They are doing so just to increase the alexa ranking but as per my knowledge Wikipedia uses nofollow tag which does not SEO indexing. CutestPenguin 16:42, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- You are correct, Wikipedia does use nofollow. I think I also remember that problem with htcampus spam. There are still >200 links to pages on that site on wikipedia, but at least the first few I saw were specific to their article topic. If they are generally low-value, I have no problem with their removal. At least HT Media seems to be a notable organization. DMacks (talk) 18:11, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

- @DMacks: HT stand for Hindustan Times which is another competitor of Times of India. HT media is one of the second largest press media in India. CutestPenguin (Talk) 18:42, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but HT Media, the parent corporation, also owns htcampus. That doesn't mean that portal/website is good or notable or valuable (and wikipedia explicitly forbids "inherited notability"). But it's part of a major company, so it felt slightly better than an independent with no major affiliate. Could still be useless for wikipedia purposes though. DMacks (talk) 19:06, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- @DMacks: and even HT Camus is a paid domain (I personally know ). CutestPenguin (Talk) 19:09, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Interesting! Thanks for the detail. DMacks (talk) 19:56, 7 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Prabhat Nalini Das
Hello Cutest Penguin. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Prabhat Nalini Das, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: also, an A7 speedy tag has already been removed. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 11:38, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hey! Hi! I am sorry if it was mistake. Well, @JohnCD: today I have nominated few other articles for CSD A7, please have a look and let me know if I am wrong. CutestPenguin (Talk) 11:42, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Should I used AfD for those CSD A7 nominated articles ? CutestPenguin (Talk) 11:47, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm afraid you were, because they were all films, and WP:CSD#A7 does not apply to films. You will have to consider PROD or AfD.
- New page patrol is a very good and useful thing to do, but it's important to get it right. Read through the speedy criteria at WP:CSD carefully, and if in doubt check back with that page before using one. A7 is a lower standard than notability, and only requires a "credible claim" of importance. There is good advice for speedy taggers from a very experienced admin at WP:A7M and WP:10CSD, and general guidance on New Page patrolling at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. JohnCD (talk) 11:56, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for help @JohnCD:. CutestPenguin (Talk) 11:58, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Many times sites outside of Wikipedia copy information from within Wikipedia. Read WP:MIRROR. They're allowed to do so, but that original information being here is not a copyvio of their later use of it. Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:31, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Sheesh. Go here and scroll to the bottom of the page. They even admit that We're their source. Sheesh. Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:33, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
- @MichaelQSchmidt: As I already mentioned that I respect Wikipedians whether they are inferior or superior (in editing). I am sorry if my AfD and CSD was invalid. I was taking the help with my past experience(s) as faced with the article Vardhman Mahavir Medical College. My request for reviewer right was declined just because I failed to notice copyvio. I would be delighted to learn from you and correct my mistakes. CutestPenguin (Talk) 08:34, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry if I seemed impatient. And if you're using a PC, please run a virus check on it and then run Malwarebytes. All the sources I recently included at the AFD opened just fine. If some do not for you, your PC may have picked up a bug from "yatedo.fr". My own system identified it as a malware site. Cheers. Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:47, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
- @MichaelQSchmidt: My browser warned me for this site. CutestPenguin (Talk) 08:51, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
- Mine too, but I felt confident enough in my protection to look... and found it a mirror. Gonna run my own system checks anyway. . Schmidt, Michael Q. 09:03, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
