Thank you
Thank you, very much, for your third opinion response at Talk:List_of_people_who_accepted_Golden_Raspberry_Awards. Most appreciated, -- Cirt (talk) 18:24, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Question: You and I appear to concur about the appropriateness of the information that was removed three times by Yaksar (talk · contribs). Can the info removed by Yaksar (talk · contribs) now be restored back to the page? -- Cirt (talk) 18:36, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- You're welcome ;) . Yes, I would restore the deleted content. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:39, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
He did it, again [2]. What should be done at this point in time with regards to this user? -- Cirt (talk) 18:51, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Update: Please see Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Edit_warring#User:Yaksar_reported_by_Cirt_.28Result:_.29, let me know if you think this is an accurate representation of the behavior by Yaksar (talk · contribs). Thank you, -- Cirt (talk) 18:56, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- Please, just let me explain. The intro as of now is concise, and the information I removed from it is already stated below. I am not trying to be disruptive, but as of now the article is somewhat of a mess and I am trying to help clean it. As for the background information section that started this controversy, if you read it you will see it says the exact same thing as the intro, and then includes info that, while perfectly fitting for the main article, is not needed here. Thank you. Yaksar (talk) 18:58, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- I addressed these concerns on the talk page of the article in my third opinion response. As mentioned there, related articles commonly have content common to both articles.
- We have a policy here, called "Bold Revert Discuss". It encourages bold changes of the sort you made (albeit with an edit summary). However, it also notes that if the changes are reverted, the result should be to discuss them on the talk page, not to continue re-instating the content. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:04, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm well aware that they should have content in common, believe me. But the information I removed from the background section seems very trivial, and the important parts were already written above. Please specifically look at the information I deleted that was not included in the intro and then assess if it is important enough to include in this satellite article. Thank you so much. Yaksar (talk) 19:08, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Update: Yaksar (talk · contribs) received a warning from WP:AN3 to cease the disruptive behavior at this page. Hopefully, at this point, the user will stop the disruptive editing in the future. -- Cirt (talk) 20:57, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

User continues to remove wikilink on my article
Hi,
The diffs:
I thought I gave a sufficient explanation the first time Hmains did it in my comment when I undid the edit.
Someone else has already complained on Hmains's talk page (although s/he has removed it, you can only see it in their revision history below) https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Hmains&diff=next&oldid=401724669
I've also written about this on the talk page for the article: Talk:Tricia_Rose
What would you do? - Verapar (talk) 06:13, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, it appears to be one of the semi-automated AWB users. I removed the {{new unreviewed article}} (I reviewed it) and replaced it with a more appropriate tag. Hopefully, the issue will now go away since he was likely just churning through all the "new unreviewed articles".
- As an aside, maybe you should try out WP:refTools, which is accessible under your preferences, since it adds the ability to easily insert citations with author's name, URL, title, accessdate, and other information that is helpful in citations. Reaper Eternal (talk) 13:43, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll redo the footnotes and ask you to have another look. But what do you think if something like that (the removal of the wikilink) happens again? - Verapar (talk) 15:02, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, I've fixed the citations to use the web template, which I usually use. I had thought that with official websites, that wouldn't be necessary. Anyhow, so what should be done if they attempt to remove it again? Is it a pre-configured setting on AWB? Because I think it is incorrect, there are many cases like mine where a link to an article on a particular time period/century would be very appropriate to for contextualization. -Verapar (talk) 15:30, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Let me know if it happens again. Reaper Eternal (talk) 00:52, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Query
At List of people who accepted Golden Raspberry Awards, Yaksar (talk · contribs) continues to engage in disruption, despite the dispute resolution results of the Third Opinion process. Thoughts? Should I start a WP:RFC on the talk page? -- Cirt (talk) 19:21, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
- Per your suggestion, moved the page to Acceptance of Golden Raspberry Awards. -- Cirt (talk) 19:29, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive news
Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 backlog elimination drive
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! The drive is halfway over, so here are some mid-drive stats.
So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now.
We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. Currently, we have eliminated 375 articles from the queue, so if each participant copy edits four more articles, we will reach that goal. Thank you for participating in the January 2011 drive. We anticipate it will be another big success! Your drive coordinators –S Masters (talk), Diannaa (Talk), The UtahraptorTalk to me, and Tea with toast (Talk) |

Your undo message is pretty clear about who added the content you removed, and looking at the subsequent IP's edit, it was vandalism. It's usually pretty clear when something is suppressed or oversighted which editor did it, even if both versions of the diff are hidden. (Only "hide revision" which we rarely have to use, actually creates that problem). 16:58, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Recent deletion
Darrendenzel (talk) 20:01, 17 January 2011 (UTC)You deleted an entry because it had no content. Yes, but the previous entry did have content, and was deleted by another user. I don't know if it's possible to get the cached copy back but I think you've been too hasty.
- I tagged your page for deletion as having no content—I cannot delete since I am not an administrator. If you want a previous copy emailed to you or put as a user subpage for you to work on before moving it out into the main space, you can ask one of these administrators to provide it for you. Reaper Eternal (talk) 20:05, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Darrendenzel (talk) 20:21, 17 January 2011 (UTC) Hang on, now I can't post anything on there because the page doesn't exist. Yet you are not an administrator. It's a mess.
- Your page, Daisy Head, appears to exist and be in no risk of speedy deletion, since it is adequately sourced and has claims of notability. The speedy deletion notices on your page are old, and can be safely ignored. Reaper Eternal (talk) 16:10, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello, I'm looking to get some help here. At Talk:Major_religious_groups#Graph_relevance.3F I am involved in an edit war with this dude. I already used WP:3O but the dude didn't like the opinion offered, refused to explain his own stance, and eventually just said I was a vandal and started reverting me as vandalism using a tool. Jarrod Glover
Hello, I notice you have tagged my new article Jarrod Glover for a speedy deletion because you believe it to be a 'Negative attack page'. I have a number of sources, which I am progressivley adding. I am a new user. Could you please give me a moment to add the sources? The page is not meant to attack Mr Glover and contains text from his blog where he makes these statements. I have a number of News articles I can add also.Enidblyton11 (talk) 04:08, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- OK, but please do not create any more pages like that unless they have references when you create them. Otherwise, it is a negative unsourced page and Wikipedia's policy is that such pages must be immediately deleted. Reaper Eternal (talk) 04:10, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Online Ambassadors
I saw you have been really active lately and I clicked on over to your user page and was pretty impressed. Would you be interested in helping with the WP:Online_Ambassadors program? It's really a great opportunity to help university students become Wikipedia contributers. I hope you apply to become an ambassador, Sadads (talk) 00:22, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- Apart from the fact that this is a copy-paste message ;) , I am interested in mentoring one student. What do I need to do? It appears that I may have to identify myself to the Wikimedia foundation or release my name (I am not going to compromise my privacy). I have 7 DYKs, 1 ITN, 1 GA, and a lot of experience copyediting and cleaning up articles. I regularly work at NPP and RCP. I am also relatively unavailable via IRC. Finally, I do regularly give third opinions to help resolve content disputes, and I have occasionally given an editor review. Reaper Eternal (talk) 19:10, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I was screening people for certain things on user pages, so it wasn't simply copy paste (and we need a lot of ambassadors and this seems to have been fairly effective). Send an e-mail to the selection team with the questionaire at Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors#Becoming_an_Online_Ambassador answered. I don't think we need real names for Online Ambassadors, though I think we do ask that you join the google group. If you have any questions make sure you turn my attention to them. I look forward to you participating. Cheers! Sadads (talk) 19:22, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Removed speedy deletion
Hi Reaper Eternal, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot, to let you know that I recently removed a Speedy Deletion template you added to User:Example/bidel. I removed it because the page has the namespace code 2 (see namespace), but the CSD you used (G2), does not apply to user pages. If the template shouldn't have been removed, please replace it (SDPatrolBot won't remove it again), and report the error. Thanks - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:45, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- False positive, users shouldn't create pages in the Example (talk · contribs) userspace. Reaper Eternal (talk) 18:50, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, G2 still doesn't really apply, would have been better off with a different CSD. However, I'll have a look at making sure the creator "owns" the userspace. - Kingpin13 (talk) 19:45, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

- Hello, you were given several hours to rewrite it. However, you did not, and as you well know, the page was an unambiguous copyright infringement. As such, it was deleted since such content is not permitted on Wikipedia for legal reasons. You are allowed to write it in your own words, but I am afraid that somebody will nominate it for deletion again due to a lack of notability unless you can find some reliable sources for it. On 3 February 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Cirrus cloud, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that cirrus clouds (pictured with a fire rainbow) cover an average of 20% to 25% of the Earth's surface at any time and can produce glories, fire rainbows, and sundogs? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Why did you removed the good content from Chaugaon page?
Dear Reaper Eternal,
I am a contributor of the Chaugaon page, but suddenly on 30th January 2011, I found that you have removed majority of content from this page. It is realy demoralizing for me. Can you please justify why you did this?
Mangesh Khairnar (talk) 11:28, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
- First, I did not remove the majority of the content. I only removed a large portion of the content on what individual families do in Chaugaon, as that is unimportant material in addition to being original research. That section would best describe what cottage industries are in Chaugaon, not who does them. By describing who does what jobs without a source, you are making unreferenced claims about living people, something which is not very good. I also removed information on the water tank, as that does not appear to have much importance. I collapsed a large portion of information on Chaugaon's seasons since the material there did not need to include that many words. In other words, I actually didn't really remove information, I only rewrote it so that it would be easier to read. (It might look like I deleted a lot of content there since English isn't your first language, but I really didn't.) Finally, almost the entire page is unreferenced and needs to have its sources in reliable sources so that the information can be verifiable. Reaper Eternal (talk) 11:43, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

GOCE January Backlog elimination drive conclusion
Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive
Greetings from the January 2011 Backlog elimination drive! We have reached the end of the month and the end of another successful drive; thanks to all who participated.
If you copy edited at least 4,000 words, you qualify for a barnstar. If you participated in the November 2010 Backlog elimination drive, you may have earned roll-over words (more details can be found here). These roll-over words count as credit towards earning barnstars, except for leaderboard awards. We will be delivering the barnstars within the next couple of weeks. Thank you for participating in this year's first Backlog elimination drive! We hope to see you in March. Hello Reaper, I just reviewed the article this article: Hurricane Danielle (2010), for GA. Its a pretty good article, however, it falls just short of the GA criteria. Since it was only minor issues, sometimes even nit-picky I will admit, I did not instantly fail Danielle for GA. Good luck on improving the article, and on the WikiCup. Hello! Can you help me? What should Is select as criteria (CSD) for Luctor_et_Emergo_Breda? Or, is it PROD? – Novice7 (Talk) 13:05, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- That would be G11 ;) . It may be in Dutch, but it is still spam. (I commonly use Google translate and just paste in foreign-language articles so I can read them. A foreign language article that does not meet the criteria needs to be tagged with {{notenglish}} and listed on pages needing translation into English.) Speedy deletion nomination of User Boxes:DarkfireII2
Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as User Boxes:DarkfireII2, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. andy (talk) 14:39, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- Before you warn me for "Creating vandalism pages", please read the history of the article, where it shows that I and another user accidentally move-conflicted when userifying the page. In any event, the page was not vandalism—it was an obvious good-faith attempt to create a userbox. Reaper Eternal (talk) 15:54, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I see so many of these that are vandalism. The chirpy summary and silly content made it look like someone fooling around rather than something created in the wrong space which needed userfying. andy (talk) 17:19, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

You're correct! It's also a company, hence the speedy tag, but the primary topic of the article is probably more the software, so you have a point there. - Vianello (Talk) 18:05, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, on second glance, the infobox at right on the article seems to indicate the article is about the company of the same name. Bit unclear though, isn't it? - Vianello (Talk) 18:06, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I've spent four hours or so trawling through Scholar, News archives, web generally & can now accept that Interstate_Van_Lines fits with WP notability policy. I posted a note on the article talk page for more concrete facts (ranking in the industry etc) but have managed to double the length of the thing anyway, and made it less like an advert. Still don't think that the awards mean that much but, hey, doubtless the company is proud of them. - Sitush (talk) 22:09, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

Kyuss article
Reaper Eternal, I was in the middle of making some necessary fixes to the Kyuss article and you stopped me in my tracks! I didn't make "unconstructive changes." Basically, some former members of the band started a new band called Kyuss Lives! Legally and artistically this is a completely different band. The main songwriter, guitarist, and singer isn't involved. So, I was making some changes that aren't controvercial at all. Of all the articles on Wikipedia, band articles are usually filled with the most glaring factual errors, and any changes I make are just to fix obvious errors. If you're faster and better at cleaning up that page than I am, go for it, but those changes ARE necessary and accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.103.33.221 (talk) 02:50, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- I reverted you when you started deleting pieces of citation templates [3] . I know that band articles on Wikipedia are commonly junk, and I appreciate your attempts to fix errors. Proposed deletion of DaDaBIK
I'm removing the proposed deletion template; I wrote the article clearly and with a neutral point of view, DaDaBIK is a very popular Open Source software (as you can see googling the name and from here http://www.dadabik.org/index.php?function=show_dadabik_on_the_web) and has a long story of 10 years of development so I think it worths a wikipedia article. If you can give me some hints to improve the article, I would be glad to follow them--Ugeeeen (talk) 13:39, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, I agree that it is written neutrally and clearly. However, in order to keep the article from being nominated for deletion, you will need to provide reliable, independent sources that show why the subject is notable. (Notability is a bit like a measure of whether the topic is worthy of a Wikipedia article.) For example, a reliable source which says that "DaDaBIK" is the most-used database builder would help show notability. However, merely being in development for 10 years does nothing to establish notability. Reaper Eternal (talk) 13:51, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your reply, in the next few days I'll add more sources about notability.Ugeeeen (talk) 14:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Party for the Integral Advancement of the Haitian People
I suspect somebody's purposely vandalizing it for political reasons, because something very similar happened last week too. So I'm going to protect the page. Bearcat (talk) 21:42, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm. I don't think indefinite semiprotection is the best solution because two vandalism are not really a whole lot. Maybe two weeks would be best since the vandalisms/spam/political advertising were about 1 week apart? Reaper Eternal (talk) 01:50, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well, even indefinite protection isn't actually permanent; after a month or so even an "indefinitely" protected page will have the protection taken off if there isn't a compelling reason to leave it protected in the longer term (such as a vandal who's so persistent that he keeps coming back for more every time the protection comes off.) That said, I'm not wedded to indef if you feel strongly about it — but it really isn't meant to be permanent protection, so much as "until someone decides it's ready to come off" protection.
