NPWatcher welcome

You've been approved to use NPWatcher. Please give me any feature requests or bugs. I'm also happy to help if you have any problems running the program, or any questions :). Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release (or just add the main page (here) to your watchlist). Finally, enjoy! Martinp23 14:16, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and expanded the article, with citations from some reliable sources (with pretty good potential for more, from a LexisNexis search. Would you please have another look, and see whether you'd be inclined to change your opinion on the AFD? -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 17:04, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Barker Inlet, was selected for DYK!

Updated DYK query On December 30, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Barker Inlet, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Thanks for your contributions! Nishkid64 19:56, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

It's obvious it's nonsense

The article is obvious nonsense so u dont have to tell me. feel free to remove this msg after u have read it —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Majx (talkcontribs) 12:11, 8 January 2007 (UTC).

Hi,

You might want to look through the references at Adam Bayliss. There are quite a few online resources which document Bayliss and his films as being notable. Many of these were added after your comments.

Thanks.

Kevin

--Kevin Murray 00:07, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

I read your latest comment where you say that you are looking for "importance" The following quote is from the WP Guidelines: "Notable here means "worthy of being noted" or "attracting notice", not "important" or "famous".

I think that you might be looking for a higher standard than WP Bio demands. The guidelines also see awards as a qualifying factor (he has one).

Thanks

Thanks for rating Eglinton. Now to fix it into a state where I can take it to GAC... Orderinchaos78 11:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

BTW I might need your help in a couple of days. I'm rewriting Hamersley, Western Australia (a present GA) for FAC and will probably need a few people to go through it after I'm done just to make sure the I's are dotted, T's are crossed and I haven't done or said anything really silly. Would that be OK with you? Orderinchaos78 06:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your assistance :) It's about 40-something degrees over here so my capacities are not at their usual, plus I think I've been doing this for way too long (the history section is at present quite a mess as I've got new bits, old bits and pasted bits) - the lead gives a clue as to how the history will be rewritten. At 45 sources and counting, I hope they don't complain I've got too *many* sources :P Orderinchaos78 09:42, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

noticed you deleted the {{fact}}</nowki> tag over on consensus decision-making. i'm the one who added both the citation ''and'' the fact tag. i inserted the tag because i was unsure about whether the source adequately covered the material or if further referencing was necessary. of course i've spent so much time on this article that i probably have 'fishbowl syndrome' -- so, i'd appreciate it if you haven't already to take a glance at the source (it's short) and make a final call on it. thanks! -- ~~~~ == Re: [[Lord Kaos]] == I removed the <nowiki>{{PROD}} tag you placed, as I feel that the band meets WP:MUSIC. Hello, I added an assertion of notability to the Mendel Shapiro article. I believe that per WP:BIO notability due to contributions to ones field can be established by independent reliable sources about the person's contributions, not necessarily about the individual's personality or personal life. Best, --Shirahadasha 18:47, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello, the Rabbinical Council of America is a very important Orthodox Jewish rabbinical body. I would have thought that the fact that it chose to include the Rothstein and Wolowelsky articles in the Summer 2005 issue of its scholarly journal Tradition to debating the merits of Mendel Shapiro's contribution (See [1] would alone be sufficient to lay to rest any issue about his meeting WP:BIO for contributions to ones field, which requires sources only on on the individual's contributions, not the individual's personality or private life. I added a series of sources to the AfD. Rabbi Shapiro's work has had significant public impact as well. Best, --Shirahadasha 20:46, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I hope you don't mind, but I saw you did some work on it before with editing... we're just about to plonk images back in this and send it to FAC but could you have another look over it, Orderinchaos78 has added lots of stuff to the history and other sections. Thank you DanielT5 07:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you :) Appreciated your work on it as well, it's often quite easy to get way too close to something that you can't see the forest for the trees. Orderinchaos78 08:38, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Bon Scott

Hey, I'd noticed you'd given Bon Scott a rating and left a few comments on which to improve the article. I've done everything you've said and was wondering if you think it would be a good time to nominate the article for GA? Cheers. ĤĶ51Łalk 18:42, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Peripitus. The article you reviewed some time a ago (Rone) was recently nominated for deletion. This however, had a backfire effect, and encouraged editing and improvement. Although while not up to GA standard yet, I'd appreciate it if you take a look and make any recommendations. Kind regards, Dfrg.msc 23:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

River Torrens

Sorry, you are right, we do source some water from River Torrens Catchment, though most of the water is pumped into these reservoirs from the murray. I understand what you mean now, but the way it reads it sounds like we draw water straight from the river, which we most certainly don't (though we do draw from reservoirs which the torrens feeds in its upper reaches. I'll change the article to convey this more clearly. --ABVS 11:47, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Well I was waterskiing down at Wellington last weekend, and the water level was a good six inches lower than it was a few weeks ago; I'm told this is mainly due to SA water madly pumping water into the Torrens Catchment reservoirs. Given how much rain we've recieved this last year, it'd have to be close to 100% from the murray at the present time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yeti Hunter (talkcontribs) 11:56, 20 March 2007 (UTC).

About your reverts of references to live.com

It seems you have noticed some strange edits by User:Symode09 as well. I'm beginning to suspect him of some sort of covert activities. I suspect him of using sock puppets accounts and sock puppets to boost his legitimacy, and later he commits subtle errors that fly under the radar. Do you have any opinion on this? Also thanks for the work at Hamersley. Amazing what can happen to an article's edit history when it goes on the main page... Orderinchaos 01:45, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Indeed... I'm quite happy with some of the improvements that took place - and we even managed to debug a template on the way through. One or two of the vandals were cleverer than others so it took a while to figure them out (medieval suburb? or creating self references which weren't themselves funny) Also see email. Raymattja Marika

My apologies for including copyrighted material and thanks for pointing it out. I've contributed enough stuff to wikipedia that you'd think I would be immune by now to such trangessions, but what can i say - I needed to get some stuff up on her so I could refer to it in another article, and as I had some stuff in a private communication, I guessed it would be OK, but after seeeing your message I googled it (as I guess you did) and found the "private communication" was taken from the web. Amnyway, mea culpa, and I'll try to write something better about her! All the best RayNorris 09:27, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi Peripitus,
I was wondering why the link to our website on various pages has been removed.
The link is: Cromer Lifeboat Station - Official Website and is directed to our Official station website of the RNLI lifeboat station in Cromer.
Unfortunately I added them again before realising I should have contacted you here first.
I have only added the link to our station website where an item relating to us directly has been placed in the text on those pages.

i.e. Lifeboats, Tamar Class, Henry Blogg etc.

An explanation would be appreciated.

Regards
Crew11uk

Thanks for the revert

Thanks for the revert Peripitus. I suppose lazily, I made contributions thinking I'd have time to complete the project when in actuality it should definitely not be done piece by piece.

Fair use rationale for Image:1829.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:1829.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 13:28, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Michael palin hemmingway adventure book cover.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Michael palin hemmingway adventure book cover.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 09:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Bolimo, by SkierRMH (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Bolimo fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

apparently was a user page that was created as an article - bizarre edit history - blanked

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Bolimo, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 21:52, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey, so I tried to do an AfD, but I didn't know that you weren't supposed to do them at the same time as a {tl|prod}, so the AfD has been deleted, and now the prod has. Now I don't know what to do, because that article plagues me. It has so many issues that I don't think can be fixed, no matter how long it's been around. Thoughts? Meh, I think I spent way too much of my Spring trying to make it something decent. Maybe I'll just unwatch it. Murderbike 02:54, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, and I really think that the article should be re-written to be ABOUT THE OPPOSITION, not just a bunch of stuff that pisses people off, and other people's opinion about how that stuff isn't bad. But unfortunately, I have to devote my mental energy to something else. Maybe somebody else will come along and make it awesome. Cheers! Murderbike 03:44, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I appreciate your comments however if you take that particular arguement to its conclusion then almost every record label within (Category:Australian independent record labels) would not met those criteria. Personally I'm of the view that there is no such thing as a non-notable record company - by definition they exist to fulfil a need. I feel that if a record label has artists on their roster that are notable then the label itself is notable. It appears that this same arguement has been used in the creation of almost article on every independent record label (not only Australian independent record labels). Disputed fair use rationale for Image:1829.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:1829.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. DYK

Updated DYK query On February 27, 2008, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Anstey Hill Recreation Park, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Great to see Adelaide on the main page. Hope to see you at a meetup again soon! Blnguyen (vote in the photo straw poll) 00:59, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Ahh, I had plans to write this! I'll just have to do one of the other parks redlinks :) ~ Riana 02:53, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Reference

No. It is right to use inline citation. The paragraph (that is not sentence) has several sentences. And reference is given for each single sentence. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 10:25, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I have created the article Manuhangi. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 10:44, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

There is no problem in using citation for each sentence. It makes it easy for the readers to understand fron where the information have come. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 11:02, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Just wanted to drop you a line that I corrected the image title, and the articles that it appears in as per Comments during the nomination. If I read your comment correctly, that was your main issue with the image. If it is now satisfactory, I'd love to you to take another look. Cheers -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 06:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, (again) I just wanted to let you know that I uploaded an edit that attempts to address the issues you raised with the photograph. It was a bit of a struggle to correct the distortion at all. I guess I feel like it would be hard for a better picture to be taken given where the building is. Anyway, a second look would be appreciated. Thanks -Fcb981(talk:contribs) 07:31, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I've replied to your comments here. If you could take another look it'd be great. Thanks for the review, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:22, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Would you believe it; my mum has EBSCOhost access (being a librarian) and I've never thought to utilise it...I'll try and get her login details and stuff in the next few days so I don't have to bug you about it in future. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 00:20, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

OK I may have seeen so much of my watch list pass with your hard work across my screen for a however long -and I wonder why bother do the Australian project stub replacement - and the importance is left dangling empty - it seems plain old stubs actually require human intervention - as there is still the importance assessment to go through - or am I missing something? cheers - I may well have misunderstood something - maybe SatuSuro 11:47, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Burger King

Thank you for taking the time to review "my" little project, I have been working really hard to get it to be a Featured Article. I thought you should know some stuff about what I have done up to now:

  • Completely rewritten the content of Legal issues section, but need to rework the opening;
  • Completely rewritten the Franchisees section, but need to add an opening;
  • partially rewritten the History section, splitting off and expanding the International expansion sub-section;
  • Expanded the Logo section, and cited it a bit more;
  • Begun an expansion of the Charitable contributions section.

Here is a list of what I am still planning:

  • Expand the History section, it is a little thin during the 70's and early '80;
  • Expand and rewrite the Charitable contributions section;
  • Rewrite the products section, it is poorly presented as you noticed;
  • Expand the advertising section a little more.

I am looking to have three or four paragraphs on each subject in the article, But your help in any way is greatly appreciated. Thanks again, -- Jeremy (talk) 06:04, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia Australia incorporation meeting

Hi there Peripitus! As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation has recently approved Wikimedia Australia as an official chapter. In order to acknowledge this, and to appoint an interim committee, approve our statement of purpose and our rules, and appoint a Public Officer, Wikimedia Australia will be having a meeting at Computerbank in Melbourne. For those of us who are located in other cities, we shall be holding conference calls to the main meeting.

The meeting will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, 20th April 2008, Adelaide time. In order for us to organise this meeting, we need your help! Please drop by at our meta subpage with suggestions as to venues, conference calling services, etc. It will be at 2:30 so we can meet up for lunch beforehand if anyone's open for that!

Hoping to see you there! ~ Riana 01:50, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

You are receiving this message because you are an active Wikimedian in Adelaide and are on this list. If you think I've missed anyone out, please feel free to copy-paste this and send it to them too!

Talk: Edit on Washington Star People

If you are the user who left the comment on Category:Washington Star People and took off my reference, I would like your view on why and what can be done to fix this.--Falconep (talk) 12:37, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Peripitus - I have been over the references you gave on what a category is and find no evidence that external links are inappropriate. What I DO find is that the Category: Washington Star People should be under parent "Washington Star" (along with the other parents), and that the alumni reference be a subcategory. I want to make sure that you're thinking is geared toward helping those seeking information, rather than a technical nuance that takes away the value of the entry.--Falconep (talk) 14:35, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Peripitus - Apparently you are not what you portray yourself to be. Calling my entries on Wikipedia "spam and trying to promote my website" is rather crude or maybe just rude. The wiki article: Washington Star and the wiki category: Washington Star People discuss WHAT my dear fellow? And what does my network do? It contains the best collection of information on those two topics,,, that's all! And on top of that, you're getting the information directly from the people the Wiki article references,,, not second-hand.

Are you suggesting that I re-invent the wheel and copy EVERYTHING from my network into Wikipedia to maintain it's PURITY? If I take your meaning correctly, then EVERY external link or resource or reference on Wikipedia is spam. Sorry Ace, if you want to help me put the references in correctly then I will gladly take your input as to how it should be formatted; but if you're merely some purist that has a twisted agenda, then I strongly urge you to bring this matter up with the powers that actually run Wikipedia and let them determine what is what! Until then, since you've NEVER worked at the Washington Star (as I and the members of my network have), stop undoing my work!--Falconep (talk) 17:58, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Peripitus - Wikipedia is not allowing me (Falconep), to log in so I will enter this anon. Quoting you "Category:Washington Star people is a list of people who have articles on Wikipedia who are known as working at the Washington Star - nothing more." This statement shows that you have no clue on the subject you are passing judgment on. The Washington Star ceased publication in September 1981; there ARE no people working there any longer. The Category almost certainly will never be added to again after such a long period. Those editorial staffers who worked for the paper ARE Washington Star People and now are known to be found on http://washingtonstar.ning.com which is a not-for-profit website and has no other purpose than to give former Washington Star People a place to gather. Those who are not alumni will not be allowed to join the network; so there is no profit motive to "advertise" on Wikipedia. Being the site administrator makes me the PERFECT person to post the reference on Wiki, no conflict of interest since I am the reference source AND I too am a former Washington Star staffer. All that the reference does is to give Wiki readers another reference,,, nothing more. If you want to see the hypocrisy of your claims, I strongly suggest you visit this site: [[2]] for he is without a doubt abusing the Conflict of Interest by promoting his website, his books, etc. Lastly, what I think would be wise for YOU to do is to read this: [[3]] since it's clear you are acting independently and not in the interest of people looking for information.--71.59.250.138 (talk) 20:07, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Anstey Hill Recreation Park

Hello, I am the GA reviewer for this article. I found it interesting to read and I'm impressed by the quality of the article. I have done some copyediting and listed some (fairly minor) concerns about the prose on the article's talk page. I have placed the review on hold for one week to allow these issues to be addressed. Pleas get in touch if you have any concerns. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 20:27, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Adelaide tram maps

Hi, I love the two Adelaide tram network maps on the Trams in Adelaide page. I'm just wondering - how did you digitise them? I'm very interested in doing similar maps for the Brisbane network; I have a book Brisbane's Tramways - The Last Decade which shows the Brisbane system as of 1961, but I've got no idea yet how to make a presentable map out of it (copyright law prevents me just scanning it and plopping it onto Wikipedia). Thanks in advance for giving me some pointers. TripleThree (talk) 17:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I've tried to address your concerns here. If you could take another look it'd be greatly appreciated.

I went ahead and copyedited as best I could.

Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 02:50, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Please revisit this FAC and correctly strike or cap comments; sorry, but we can't have caps without sigs, since the only way I can then know who added the cap is by stepping back through the diffs, which is too time consuming. Caps are fine as long as you sign. Best regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:18, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi,

could you protect this page until it is sorted out on the talk page. Thanks. Martintg (talk) 21:04, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
