Spirit Halloween: The Movie moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Spirit Halloween: The Movie, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. AfD discussion
[edit]At Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Valerian Gârlă, you stated that you would withdraw if you could, but you can. See WP:WITHDRAWN, where it states, "While the nominator may withdraw their nomination at any time, if subsequent editors have suggested an outcome besides keep or added substantive comments unrelated to deletion, the discussion should not be closed simply because the nominator wishes to withdraw it." In other words, you are allowed to withdraw and even strike your deletion rationale if you'd like. The only caveat is that the discussion cannot be closed as Speedy keep, because a delete !vote exists from another user. North America1000 13:08, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Northamerica1000: Thank you. I was looking at WP:WDAFD and wasn't quite sure on the procedure. I've withdrawn my nomination. —Matthew - (talk) 13:38, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
- It's all good. This makes it easier for a closer to determine how the discussion has transpired as time goes by. North America1000 13:42, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
Nope muybridge animation
[edit]Can you please change back the title of the Muybridge GIF animation on Nope (film) and also change the current line about the claim that it would be from The Horse in Motion? It is simply NOT from The Horse in Motion (1878)! Nor do the movie characters claim so (or at least in the part that's in the trailer they don't)! The specific quote that I used is from the trailer and it unfortunately contains some mistakes, but not the mistake that is in the current Wikipedia article (see also my entry on the article's talk page). The images used in the trailer and the movie are from Animal Locomotion (1887 — 9 years later and much clearer than the 1878 images), see the citation that was there before you changed it. The current citation is not a very reliable source (note that it uses very different images), or at least it's less reliable than the info from a museum that holds an original print (my ref). Maybe it's not that bad that the claims of fictional characters in a sci-fi horror flick aren't entirely correct, but I believe it's quite important that Wikipedia gets this part right. Leatherface
[edit]Hello Matt, just wanted you to know I have been working on revamping the article on Leatherface. Been a long time in the making but someone had to do it. I was thinking that if you wanted to after I am done with the article you and I could do a much needed revamping on the article on the original film cause the production section is very poorly developed. I also wanted you to know I have a little surprise for you later but in the mean time happy editing mate. Paleface Jack (talk) 01:49, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

[edit]@MatthewHoobin Thanks for creating an article about this obscure movie. I am the person who has been researching about this film for the last year and a half and I am currently trying to convince the producer's family to release it. I also have added a lot of info (from my own research) to the Lost Media Wiki articles both in English and Spanish. I just wanted to let you know that we currently have a lot of info about the status of the movie. It is not lost, it's rather unavailable. If you haven't checked the articles, you might consider add the info to the Wikipedia article. Vidalch93 (talk) 15:27, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Vidalch93: Thank you for your work, and I hope it gets publicly released! I should note, though, that Wikipedia has stricter guidelines than the Lost Media Wiki when it comes to the inclusion of material. Namely, that articles aren't supposed to contain original research, and that information should be published by independent, reliable sources before being added to Wikipedia: "Even if you are sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it." —Matthew - (talk) 18:16, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, I should have known about this. In any case, I would like to thank you for paying attention to this lost media case. It's great to see this particular movie receiving some attention from outside the Spanish-speaking sphere. Nonetheless, the LMW articles also have academic books as sources , which depict in detail several aspects from the movie such as the plot and the production process. Vidalch93 (talk) 18:43, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Vidalch93: I'll have to take a look at those! Thank you! —Matthew - (talk) 18:46, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted
[edit]Hi MatthewHoobin, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Ϫ 05:35, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

A question
[edit]Hi my friend! I have a question, do you know Wirt from «Over the Garden wall»? I think this subject need to be an article in English Wikipedia, because the character is very famous, do you think else? If you think that can you please delete redirect page of it? because I want to create an article about it. And do you see English Wikipedia has many redirect pages about characters which are articles in other wikipedia languages? And thank you bro🙂. علي العالم (talk) 18:03, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there! I do know Wirt, yeah—I've been fond of Over the Garden Wall for years, and I've even cosplayed the character! If you'd like to create an article for Wirt, you can actually just do so by editing that redirect page. See here if you want to know more about writing an article, and try to follow the guidelines on writing about fiction (and also see Wikipedia:Notability (fiction)). And regarding your last point, do you have some examples of articles for fictional characters that, while redirects on English Wikipedia, are fully-fledged articles on other languages' wikis? —Matthew / (talk) 03:29, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- That’s good! But when I create an article to a redirect page, I always delete it and create it after that, because if I don’t delete it, it will be an «edit» not a «create», so if you can delete it, please do, and if you cannot, tell me to take the help from another friend. And yes, I have many examples, many main characters in «Detective Conan» have articles in other wikis but they don’t have any article here, Rigby from «Regular show» has an article in 2 wikis, which are Portogous and Arabic, and many secondary characters in «Harry Potter» have articles in other wikis and don’t have in English Wikipedia. I have many other examples, but these which I said are enough. And thank you my friend🙂. علي العالم (talk) 10:18, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- You may have to get help from someone else then, because I don't think I have grounds to delete the redirect page as it is right now, per WP:R#CRD. And if you're thinking of creating fully-fledged articles for characters like Rigby from Regular Show or Detective Conan, etc., try to make sure they meet the notability guidelines. Best of luck! —Matthew / (talk) 15:55, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

The article Not Human has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Sources are either brief mentions, non-independent, or database type material. I am unable to find better source material (even with searching by both the "Not Human" and "Ombis: Alien Invasion" names, so I do not think this subject is notable.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Seraphimblade Talk to me 08:08, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in a research
[edit]Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
