Thank you!

[edit]

Hi there, I noticed the huge amount of work you've done on List of Canadian Jews, and maybe this will sound silly, but I wanted to thank you for inserting entries in alphabetical order. A lot of people don't bother. It's appreciated! Cheers, Jessicapierce (talk) 19:31, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations

Your DYK hook about Barnett Nathan, and his acrobatic, blindfolded dancing of the hornpipe, drew 13,877 page views (578 per hour) while on the Main Page. It is one of the most viewed hooks so far during the month of February and has earned a place on the Best of February list. Keep up the great work! Cbl62 (talk) 16:20, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

women writing poetry

Thank you for quality articles about biographies in literature and culture, such as Estella Hijmans-Hertzveld, Nina Salaman, Chava Shapiro, Ada Ballin, Judah Leib Ben-Ze'ev and Sidonie Grünwald-Zerkowitz, for creating plenty of articles about Canadian Jews, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 2603 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:15, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Kyuko, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! œ[[User talk:OlEnglish|

Anne Rice Award

[edit]
Congratulations!
The Anne Rice Award honors editors who have improved Wikipedia's coverage of women writers by creating a biography of a woman writer who, like Anne Rice, used a pen name, nom de plume, literary initials, or pseudonym on the title page or by-line of her works in place of her real name. On behalf of WP:WPWW, thank you for creating the biography on Chava Shapiro, who wrote as Em Kol Chai. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:50, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ploni Attempts to Delete Multiple Artists’ Wiki Listings

[edit]

I find this behavior very unusual. I will notify all of the persons Ploni is trying to delete that their suggested deletion from Wikipedia is not a one off occurrence, but they are one of many accounts Ploni has attempted to have taken down. Very odd use of one’s time, in my opinion. Mollylou12 (talk) 06:14, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Mollylou12: Hi Molly Louise, I understand that it must be frustrating to see the article you created about yourself nominated for deletion. Nominating a page for deletion is a common procedure to establish consensus on whether a topic warrants its own article when there are significant concerns about notability. Wikipedia has a very particular set of notability guidelines, and the discussion on whether your article meets them is not a judgment on you as a person or a playwright. I should also note that using Wikipedia as a means of promotion and writing about yourself are strongly discouraged. Thank you for your patience. –Ploni (talk) 11:42, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello: Interesting that after sixteen years this is suddenly an urgent matter. Also, I note that there are multiple artists’ listing that are probably being deleted because of your flagging. Is working towards getting other artists’ listings taking down your full time job? There are just so many. It’s very curious why anyone would have the time or inclination to do such things, otherwise. Be interested to know. Thanks… Mollylou12 (talk) 12:14, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

^taken Mollylou12 (talk) 12:15, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello: Thank you for the clarification. I see. Fascinating, just as in a study of human nature, that one would choose to be a serial deleter of other artists accomplishments. One can’t help but wonder if a certain lack wasn’t driving such zeal? Just musings aloud. Would love to see your plays that are produced off-Broadway. Or, your play that was published alongside Terrance McNally and Beth Henly. Or your film that was granted thousands of dollars, got shot, edited, and ran the film circuit. Please let me know where to get a ticket to such accomplishments that you’ve just created from thin air with your own imagination. I’ll be happy to be on the front row. It’s a choice in life, isn’t it, whether to sit around creating…or to sit around deleting other artists accomplishments? Volunteering one’s countless hours, even, to the meticulous deletion of numerous artists listings of accomplishments. The motivation for that activity is fascinating. Very clear, but fascinating. Thanks! Mollylou12 (talk) 12:46, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your thoughts on transliteration

[edit]

Hello Ploni. I came here from viewing your latest work Judaism and sneezing (certainly, nothing to sneeze at!). I just wanted to know if you had any thoughts about how I've chosen to transliterate Hebrew phrases containing Otiyot HaShimush, such as Yeshivat HaYishuv HeHadash [he]. I noticed that you created Ha-Karmel and He-Halutz (magazine) (among others), while someone else created Ha-Levanon. You might notice that Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Hebrew) gives a few examples of this (sans hyphen) such as Mishmar HaGvul, vav hahibur and Ir HaKarmel, and we also have actual articles using this convention, such as Beit HaKerem, Bayit VeGan, Hakarat HaTov and Al HaNissim. What is the thinking behind the use of hyphens, why does there seem to be a discrepancy on enwiki, and if there is, does anything need to be done about it? Also, if you are aware of any previous discussions on this topic, I would be happy to look them over. Havradim leaf a message 05:34, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Havradim: Thanks for the message, and for noting the discrepancy. Following WP:HE, "Ha-Karmel" should in fact be renamed "HaKarmel" and so on. I'm unfamiliar with the discussions that led to adopting this transliteration system (which differs from that of the Academy of the Hebrew Language and other standardized systems), but it's what we've got. – Ploni💬  17:07, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I came across the split of this template today; I would highly suggest you go through what links to it and orphan the template (i.e. replace transclusions with the proper templates). Otherwise, you just have a bunch of documentation with a {{split article}} notification. Thanks. Primefac (talk) 08:44, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
