regarding the page: 2016 Premier Badminton League

[edit]

Hey Magentic Manifestations!

I understand that you are a 'star' wiki editor, and I really appreciate your work. However, I strongly disagree with your recent edits on this page: 2016 Premier Badminton League. Although I liked the way you re-organized the references, and other good 'çleanups', cleaning does NOT mean deletion of data. Please reconsider your edits, or explain why you think data deletion is justified, or I will be forced to consider it as a case of vandalism. Thank you.

-- User:Neelnilju (talk) 18:48, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh please! I have reverted your edits because you dis-oriented the table which was corrected and the source was not Google+ and it is actually Zee news. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and is not a newspaper or yellow pages. There is a specified way in which an article lead is to be written and what information can be given. The lead does not need the guest list of people who visited the matches. Good that you have brought it to my talk page and you are open to discuss the same in the article talk page. Please go ahead and report vandalism if you feel the need to before that I strongly suggest reading wiki POV on writing articles and vandalism.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 16:32, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for your reply. If I read you properly, you think my edits: [1] had dis-oriented tables [although that does not mean you can delete it); [2] regarding source: I think, reference should include ALL kinds of resources (as I see in almost ALL Wiki articles!), and those references in the article we are talking about DID have Google+ links too (so 'Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and is not a newspaper or yellow pages" is not a justification, but an attack); [3] "The lead does not need the guest list of people who visited the matches" - this line is too aggressive considering that you have not contributed (but only edited the looks) any significant data on that page. I respect your contributions on Wiki and dont want to drag it further if we agree to include the info (you can format the style) so that we can enrich the article(s). If you suggest, I will report it as a case of vandalism, so that ONLY the Wiki can get benefited. P.S.: nothing personal. User:Neelnilju (talk) 23:05, 28 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Geographical Indications in India Edit-a-thon starts in 24 hours

[edit]

Hello,

Thanks a lot for signing up as a participant in the Geographical Indications in India Edit-a-thon. We want to inform you that this edit-a-thon will start in next 24 hours or so (25 January 0:00 UTC). Here are a few handy tips:

  • ⓵ Before starting you may check the rules of the edit-a-thon once again.
  • ⓶ A resource section has been started, you may check it here.
  • ⓷ Report the articles you are creating and expanding. If a local event page has been created on your Wikipedia you may report it there, or you may report it on the Meta Wiki event page too. This is how you should add an article— go to the "participants" section where you have added you name, and beside that add the articles like this: Example (talk) (Articles: Article1, Article2, Article3, Article4). You don't need to update both on Meta and on your Wikipedia, update at any one place you want.
  • ⓸ If you are posting about this edit-a-thon- on Facebook or Twitter, you may use the hashtag #GIIND2016
  • ⓹ Do you have any question or comment? Do you want us to clarify something? Please ask it here.

Thank you and happy editing. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:33, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Metropolitan city

[edit]

Only six cities have been official notified as 'Metropolitan' - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Pune and Ahmedabad are still on the cards. Vensatry (Talk) 13:12, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, other cities needed to be removed from the list which I hope you did it.03:03, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, Magentic Manifestations. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Bhavani Jamakkalam, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Anastasia [Missionedit] (talk) 16:46, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding GA review:Coimbatore

[edit]

Hi! You have started reviewing Coimbatore for GA. It has been more than 35 days since you started. Would be good if you complete the review and update with the comments soon. It has been pending for more than 7 months since GA nomination. Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 10:14, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh good grief, I'm awfully sorry. I don't even recall doing that. I remember considering it for review, but then decided against it due to pressure of time (if you look at my contributions I am barely on Wikipedia these days). I must have templated it with {{subst:GAstart}} around the time I reviewed Jaipur, and simply forgot I had done so. I have now removed the template and returned the GAN to the queue. I am sorry for any inconvenience. If I do get some time in the next few weeks I'll take a look and see what I can do to help out, either in tidying up the article, or in reviewing it. Coimbatore area

[edit]

Hi, the figure that 'citypopulation.de' gives for the area is a bit deflated. I did some calculation for all cities based on reports that were downloaded from the official census website. According to my calculation, the area of Coimbatore UA is spread across 731.22 sq. km. Yes, it's as big as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. Vensatry (Talk) 07:20, 6 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ooty

[edit]

Hi Magentic Manifestations, I would like you to point out the exact page number and the lines in the reference provided in the article on Ooty which state and support that 'Nilgiris was ruled by various Tamil kingdoms' and not just retain it as it is desirable and suitable. I did not find any citation supporting it and hence would like to remove unreferenced statements. Thanks!--NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 17:25, 24 March 2016 (UTC) Hi, Haven't received your response, let me know if I can remove it.NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 09:32, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, NitinBhargava2016, Have added the sources for the same. If unsourced content is there, would request you to do research to find the sources for the same, rather than removing the same on first instance. Thanks for bringing it for discussion at least. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 13:47, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Magentic Manifestations, expect the same from you in case of any un-sourced content. The 2nd source you have provided 'http://www.ibef.org/download/decoding-the-nilgiris.pdf', doesn't mention anything concrete at all of Pandyas, Cholas or Cheras having ruled Nilgiris, rather than just saying that they do not deserve the credit for discovering Nilgiri hills. Regarding the 1st source - Gazetteers of India: Nilgiris District by S K Sahu and Nilamani Senapati, can you please update the ISBN of this book and paste here the lines in page 866 which clearly support this statement? Cheers--NitinBhargava2016 (talk) 15:02, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

NitinBhargava2016, What do you even mean by concrete (again your opinion!) and the source provides claim that Pandyas, Cholas and Cheras ruled Nilgiris. Also, ISBN is not a mandatory parameter and I would have provided if it existed for the same. If you have any other conflict, raise it on the article's talk page, while other users can also comment on the same. Cheers!Magentic Manifestations (talk) 15:16, 26 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What is the order of the numbers?Xx236 (talk) 06:58, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Based on ordering released by Government of India. Refer to List of National Highways in India by highway number. It is a systematic numbering scheme based on the orientation and the geographic location of the highway. This was adopted to ensure more flexibility and consistency in the numbering of existing and new national highways. According to the new system, all north-south oriented highways will have even numbers increasing from the north to the south. Similarly, all east-west oriented highways will have odd numbers increasing from the east to the west of the country.Magentic Manifestations (talk) 11:27, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Coimbatore

[edit]

On 10 May 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Coimbatore, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Coimbatore is known as "Manchester of South India" due to its cotton production and textile industries? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Coimbatore. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Coimbatore), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Your reversion of my correction restored the cite error as can be seen in this revision. The ref was removed and turned into a secondary ref (I.e. <ref name/> (note the '/' at the end of the ref name) as the name was already used with different content elsewhere in the article. As far as I could tell the refs were meant to be the same so combined them. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 19:57, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Now gone back and double checked the refs against earlier revisions. The first 2 uses of the ref name "50th" (in 'history') had different info so they are now separate refs (Nos. 11 & 15). The third use of the ref name (in 'fleet info') appears to be the same as ref 15 so that is now combined. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 20:24, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Periyar a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Periyar (disambiguation). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. —Ketil Trout (<><!) 19:44, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you wish to raise the issue, please do so in the right forum and until the time, don't go about changing the articles. Magentic Manifestations (talk) 05:43, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:20, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, Magentic Manifestations. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Try to give non biased report on the wiki page of per capita of Indian cities.

[edit]

You should not show a biased report on wiki as it violates the wiki policies. The wiki page wants more than two reference for it to be taken true because the credibility of the reference has been challenged. The report shown here contradicts with many other reports and cannot be taken as a correct source. You should not use it if it is an incorrect or challenged report. Either show more reference from different agencies or delete the page as whole.

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Speedy deletion nomination of InterGlobe Enterprises

[edit]

Hello Magentic Manifestations,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged InterGlobe Enterprises for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Your contributed article, Women's 10 metre air pistol

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Women's 10 metre air pistol. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Shooting at the 2022 Asian Games – Women's 10 metre air pistol. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Shooting at the 2022 Asian Games – Women's 10 metre air pistol. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Fram (talk) 08:07, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
