WP:RFCU and clerks
Greetings! A recent change has been made in the clerking system at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser. There are no longer any obstacles to editors who wish to help out in this areas, as the standby list has now been deprecated. You were listed as a volunteer on the standby list before it was deprecated. If you are still interested in helping out in this area, please:
- Consider adding yourself to the list of active clerks at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Clerks.
- In helping, please make sure you follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Procedures as it is very important to the process there to follow these instructions for smooth operation.
- Please remember "Trust between the clerks and the checkusers is essential. Clerks who persistently make problematic comments on requests or otherwise violate decorum may be asked by the checkusers to cease contributing here."
- Add Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Clerks/Noticeboard to your watchlist to stay up to do date on the latest communications happening regarding this role.
- "Be aware that this position is rather dull and carries no particular prestige; status-seeking will not be looked upon kindly."
I am not involved with the checkuser system. I am acting only to inform you of this change. Thank you. --Durin 14:33, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Reply re cut-and=paste "moves"
Sure, no problem, though Zaira isn't meant to be just a disambig page. Hopefully it will blossom into a full article about this wonderful name. So more of a split than a move. Cheers, Moreschi Request a recording? 11:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
checkuser on FMNF
Hi again,
I filed a checkuser on FNMF. Due to the severity of disruption of this case (he involved Jimbo), and due to the fact that the evidence logs will evaporate in fewer than 2 days, is there anyway you can escalate this problem and bring it to the more urgent attention of the checkuser admins? --Otheus 08:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Also, there's one filed on me. The filer makes some spurious and incorrect claims. Is there a place for me to comment? --Otheus 08:17, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

AIV warning
Hey there
You changed the AIV warning on my talk page. Thanks, but what was that all about? I always put vandals on AIV if they have a warning on their page already.
I'm confused :-(

How is the Evidox page i created advertisment? Everything I wrote is a fact. So are you saying that we should not have companys in Wikipedia? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bhuelsman (talk • contribs).
- Hi, the article was deleted on the grounds it was an advertisement and a copyright violation of the company's home page. First of all, we take copyright issues very seriously and the article would probably have been deleted under these grounds. Wikipedia's article are licensed under the GFDL, that basically allows anyone to use it for any purpose, which is not possible without explicit authorization from the copyright holder. For the advertisement claim, unfortunately I don't have the ability to access deleted articles so I will stay general. An admin and I had the feeling the article was promoting the company, and was not written in the tone we wait for in an encyclopedia. I suggest you to read WP:SPAM#How_not_to_be_a_spammer, if you want some guidelines about how to write an article about a company. I also suggest you to read WP:CORP, an official policy that states which companies are notable enough to be included and which aren't. I hope that helps you to understand our stance! -- lucasbfr talk 09:29, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

New RFCU for an existing case
I would like to add a new report at the top of Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Etimesoy, for the following user:
- Herrich (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki)
Is it OK if I go ahead? Or do you need to archive/close that page first?--Endroit 15:27, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and submitted the new report at Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Etimesoy. Please check if it is in order. Thank you.--Endroit 17:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah you scared the hell out of me I was archiving it at the exact same time :D I relisted it. -- lucasbfr talk 17:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking care of the new request. And sorry for the confusion: I had quite a lot of data there, so I just wanted to save it first.--Endroit 17:13, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Ah, sorry about the cut and paste move. I knew it was possible to move the whole article, but I thought only admins could do that. I didn't even think about the history being affected. Just to clear something up--once the article at Climber (video game) is deleted, then I use the move tab to move the article from Climber (videogame)? I can't move it now? Thanks for the help, man. --pie4all88 09:32, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Oops, forgot to add--should I revert the redirection I made at Climber (videogame)? Sorry, I'm not real up to date on this. --pie4all88 09:34, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Please leave the Ted Owens page up as a stub, I will write something original when I have time.
Somebody had the coach linked to Ted Owens, some type of psycho, and very insulting.
I was attempting to quickly set the record straight until I could write up something better.

Been redirecting redundant pages, but User:Uroddmitri continues to recreate duplicates. Would you be able to help with this? --Aldis90
- I saw that. I tried to contact him again, and listed him as a possible sockpuppet of user:Roitr, since the original article is vandalized by this person. -- lucasbfr talk 09:52, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, this is our friend Roitr... the name means "Dmitry is a freak" in Russian :) (cold be an indication that he's a little mad) :)
- Uroddmitri - the name means "Dmitry is a freak" in Russian is wrong. My name is Urodetsky Dmitry.--Uroddmitri 12:55, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for watching out his actions, however, reporting to WP:LTA/Roitr is not enough, because these subpages are not routinely checked by admins. I recommend reporting straight to WP:AIV and not even mind placing any warnings on his talk page. Just provide concise details in the report, including links to forked articles/images and already blocked users who exhibited the same behaviour. Examples: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] etc. --Dmitry (talk •contibs ) 10:49, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

- In fact I went fishing on that one. I saw him creating the page and was puzzled by his lack of communication. So I went to the original article and saw all the fuss about him in the history. I just followed my intuition and added him to the list. I considered requesting a checkuser but he hadn't done anything wrong. Thanks for the help! -- lucasbfr talk 11:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

You might want to consider running a checkuser on that one by the way. I don't know the whole story so I would screw it up, you'll need to find a recently blocked sock of him.
- Already done, see WP:LTA/Roitr#Anonymous_IPs. He has no permanent IP and his provider assigns him a random address from their whole DSL rangeblock, which means admins must block a couple of /16 for new account creation and anonymous IP access, affecting substantial part of Israel. Quite understandably, they are rather reluctant to enforce this measure (but nevertheless this happened a few times, following the peak of his activity). --Dmitry (talk •contibs ) 13:11, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Please help me. I'm create same articles about Ranks of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.Regardless of whether or not User:Botisaf was a sockpuppet of Roitr, his edit on this page appears to be valid. I am agree with him. Becouse I create this article. I has copied pictures Uniform Insignia and create same articles about it. According to many sources two Chinese marshal-equivalent ranks are in fact created. --Dmitry does not wish to agree with article made by User:Botisaf, but I think that they are correct. --Dmitry now think that I am a sockpuppet of User:Botisaf, but it is wrong. Please Help me to keep the correct facts. As I was convinced from --Dmitry works-he does not know much about Chinese ranks. Checkuser Benjiwolf
Re Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser/Case/Benjiwolf. I am not sure I have really got the correct code letter on this case because there is not a ban from Arbitration commitee. There is ban put in place by AuburnPilot for sockpupetry to evade a ban. And we really need to determine if MnemosynesMusings is a sockpuppet of Benjiwolf because if he is then he is using a futher sockpuppet to evade his ban. The evidence that suggests MnemosynesMusings may be a sockpuppet of Benjiwolf is tabulated here Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Benjiwolf (2nd).
Is there a more appropriate code letter for such a case? Ttguy 14:02, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Re [6], I think using {{selfref}} on dab pages like AIV is not as bad as on articles like OTRS. The problem with self-refs on articles is that it doesn't make sense for readers of Wikipedia or people printing articles via e.g. PediaPress, and that linking to the wikipedia namespace on the talk page namespace is sufficient. Since {{selfref}} contradicts WP:SELF, I'll wait for community consensus and I won't remove the link from OTRS. -- Jeandré, 2007-03-30t10:57z

Article Removal
I recently created an article which was well with in the terms defined by the rules of the site. It was in regards to a character that is gaining momentum and fame on the internet, which would make for a worthy new article yet it was removed and I was warned to not make anymore 'useless' articles. I'd like this to be re-evaluated please.

- Hi, first of all I wanted to state that I don't have access to deleted articles, so I won't be able to enter into specifics here. Your page was tagged by me and a fellow editor for deletion, and this decision was endorsed by an admin as you can see in the deletion log. If I remember well, the article you created failed to meet the WP:BIO policy. For example, an actor needs to Have appeared in well-known films, stage plays, television, and other productions to be included. If after reading this policy, and our conflict of interest policy (since your pseudonym on Wikipedia is the same than the title of the article), you still feel the article was deleted by mistake, I suggest you to contact the admin that deleted the page, User:Irishguy. Note that you can have a user page on Wikipedia to tell us about yourself. You can find this userpage at User:LordWolvern. I hope these informations helped you. -- lucasbfr talk 11:24, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
