Belated New Year's wishes
Rotideypoc41352 (talk) is wishing you Happy Holidays! This greeting (and season) promotes WikiLove and hopefully this note has made your day a little better. Spread the WikiLove by wishing another user Happy Holidays, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Happy New Year!
Spread the cheer by adding {{subst:Happy holidays}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
Thank you for expanding The Enola Holmes Mysteries! I revamped the article way back in the day and remember the books fondly, so you improvements to the article delighted me.Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 05:53, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
I have never made an edit to Wikipedia so why am I seeing messages from you on these pages stating I completed an edit that was rejected?
What is the deal with this and why are you sending me these messages>? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.169.246.222 (talk) 20:04, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Since this user has not been active recently I'll answer this. You are using an IP. IPs can change. Three months ago someone using the same IP you are now on made an edit that was undone. Don't worry about it. Meters (talk) 20:44, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- That's why the message on the talk page says "If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices." Changes to Wikipedia
Dear Isabelle,
We are trying to establish a Wikipedia page for Folklore Productions/FLi Artists, based on the company's 60-year history representing Joan Baez, Taj Mahal, John Fahey, Doc Watson and other seminal figures of American music. Folklore Productions served a pivotal role in the American Folk Music Revival, as we have attempted to document. Then we would be happy to link internally.
On a related matter, I stand by my correction re the Campbell Brothers. Malcolm Kirby is not a vocalist, as the page currently lists. He was the band's first bass player, subsequently replaced by Daric Bennett. I correctly replaced Kirby with vocalist Cinnamon Jones.
Sincerely, Rlevitow (talk) 21:10, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, @Rlevitow: I assume you are the same IP that was reverted by me at The Campbell Brothers article. If you wish to create an article about what I assume is your company, you do not need to add links to it on other pages. I'm admittedly not knowledgeable about the structure of articles about musicians or bands, but the addition of who represents them, with an external link, seemed like advertisement, which is generally not accepted on Wikipedia, which is why I reverted those editions. It also lacked any reliable, third party source to confirm that information.
- My recommendation for you is to avoid going to those artists' pages to add that bit of information about your company and, instead, work on reading some essential Wikipedia policies, such as notability and conflict of interest, especially "Paid editing". Having read that, and believing your company would be compliant with the notability guidelines, you are welcome to start a new draft on your company. If you have any other questions regarding creating new pages or editing, feel free to ask me here or you can go to the Teahouse, where other experienced editors will able to help you. Best regards, Isabelle 🔔 22:17, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi, Isabelle. My husband and I share the IP. I have a Wikipedia Username. We understand your concern and appreciate your advice. I am in the process of drafting a Wikipedia submission about the business and its founder (my deceased father-in-law.) I think we are understanding better the notability requirements and we believe we certainly do reach that standard. We also are understanding the scholarship (citation and third party references) standards for our articles. We will aim for that level on both counts. Do you recommend that we submit the articles as DRAFTS? Is there any way we could share them specifically with you? (It is a rare pleasure to be engaging with another human across the wires.) Thanks very much. Rlevitow (talk) 22:43, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Rlevitow: It's my pleasure to be able to help! Wikipedia is built by the community, so there are always people willing to help, and if you ever need a timely answer, feel free to use the Teahouse, where dozens of more experienced users will be more than happy to help you.
- Regarding the creation of the page, as it is said in the page about conflict of interests, the community recommends the creation of new articles using the "Articles for Creation" system. The short of it is that, yes, you are recommended to create a draft, which will then go through a review process by other members of the community, who will either accept it, or reject and give feedback on how to improve it. I recommend using other, already existing articles of a similar subject as example. I'd rather not help with the drafting of the page, though, due to my lack of knowledge on the subject (companies in general) and due to our pleasant conversation, I'd probably be biased, even if so slightly. regarding your edits to the wiki page of Sheldon Adelson

- Hi, Roger. I appreciate you enthusiasm on wanting to improve the article on Sheldon Adelson, but when doing so, it's important to remember to follow this project's policies, specially the ones about citing sources and reliable sources. It doesn't matter if what you are adding is the truth if it cannot be verified by other editors and readers.
- I've reverted your edition because it seemed to me that the information added did not have a verifiable source. If you believe I was wrong, I won't revert future edits. Best regards, Isabelle 🔔 19:01, 10 July 2021 (UTC)
- Isabelle, in case you're curious about the revision deletions, they were to remove the contact info posted above. How is that neutral?
How is a member of a terrorist organization not a terrorist? What kind of logic is that? You literally have a burning US flag in your profile. You are extremely biased and are editing an online encyclopedia with a political agenda.
- Considering it's a biography of a living person, I'd recommend using the article's talk page to discuss the addition of "an American domestic terrorist" to the lede. Best regards, Isabelle 🔔 02:22, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Hooks
Hi again, so I've been having a think about a couple of possible tacks you could take with the hook for that article. While I find her whole story interesting, and I'm sure that many of our readers will too, there aren't any surprising and 'hooky' facts fromher life that jump out at me, but a couple of different angles do occur to me:
- We could simply report the fact of her death. Something like "...that Bernette Ford, one of the African-American editors in children's publishing in the US, died on 20 June 2021?"
- Or, to take a more positive approach, we could focus on what she did to encourage more Black authors and illustrators in the field. "...that Bernette Ford, who was known as one of the few African-American editors in children's publishing, produced a series of books written and illustrated entirely by people of color?"
I'll ping Barkeep49 in case he has any views on this. It sounds like you already know how to make a nomination, but let me know if you need any help with that. Cheers Girth Summit (blether) 13:37, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- I do not enjoy the culture of the front page processes (DYK, ITN, OTD) so I'm not the best person to ask. But perhaps trying to get Ford listed in recent deaths with ITN might be easier than DYK? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 13:58, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit: I personally really liked the second one, specially about her publishing "books written and illustrated entirely by people of color". I might also suggest something related to the "Black Creators for Children" group. If I do go the DYK route, would you mind if I mark you as the co-author (dunno if there is a co-nominator concept in DYK).
- @Barkeep49: I thought about that, but I've never went through the ITN process, and wasn't sure how "recent" it had to have happened to be considered recent enough. Isabelle 🔔 14:11, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Isabelle Belato, personally, I've never been involved in the ITN section, so no comment on that. I've done quite a few DYKs now though, both in terms of nominating articles and reviewing hooks, and I think this should be an easy 'accept'. Just bear in mind that it's time-limited - you've only got seven days to nominate it from the time when it was moved into main space. Feel free to mark me down as a co-nominator if you like (always happy to take credit for other people's work!). I don't know if there's a 'correct' way of doing that, but you could look at Template:Did you know nominations/Battle of Dunbar (1650) for an example that seemed to work OK. Girth Summit (blether) 14:17, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49 and Girth Summit: I've created the nomination. Thanks to both of you for the support and advices! Isabelle 🔔 17:35, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Isabelle Belato, looks good. I tweaked your mention of me slightly. Do you want to do the QPQ yourself? If not, I've done one recently that I haven't 'used' yet, I could enter that into the field for you? Cheers Girth Summit (blether) 17:39, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Girth Summit: If it's not too big of a deal, I'll take you up on your offer to fulfil the QPQ requirement. Isabelle 🔔 17:49, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
