Turkmenistan
[edit]Hi!! You're welcome! The coverage of Turkmenistan on the internet besides the capital is pretty poor and I know these are notable towns. I couldn't believe Yoloten was missing, It features on my National Geographic Atlas which only lists the main cities/towns in each country! It is difficult getting hold of photographs though. I've made a few requests on flickr but as yet no response. If you have any photos of Yoloten or any others let me know! We need more photographs of Turkmenistan! Sanctuary
[edit]Could you please provide a reference to the UNESCO World Heritage Site definition of sanctuary? Following your lead in Turkmenistan, I have added "sanctuary" to zakaznik (originally translated as game reserve), but we need a terminological reference there. We also need to add references to the existing article animal sanctuary, which seems to have a more restricted sense than sanctuary=zakaznik, and possibly merge animal sanctuary into a more general new article on sanctuaries in the UNESCO sense. Thank you. --Zlerman (talk) 15:00, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response on my talk page. I saw already yesterday the descriptive use of "sanctuary" on UNESCO World Heritage Site, but I would like to have UNESCO's definition of this term. I hoped you would be able to direct me to that. I like your use of "sanctuary", but we need a sourced definition for Wikipedia purposes. As to zakaznik, your "sanctuary" is exactly zakaznik, because all Turkmen sources in Russian (both Internet and print) call the specific sanctuaries you are referring to "zakazniki". So if you can find a source for the UNESCO definition of sanctuary, please let me know. --Zlerman (talk) 05:08, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Good work on the sanctuaries. Can I tempt you to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Turkmenistan? Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:02, 30 June 2009 (UTC) Just sign your name for now. Eventually I hope to get a few people together and get some assessments for Turkmenistan articles. But at present i'm the only active member and we are somewhat overshadowed by the Central Asia parent project which is also pretty inactive. ANyway I just started Sheraton Grand Turkmen Hotel. I expanded the Repetek article. We don't accept direct copyright but if you extracted the main facts from UNESCO or whatever source and rewrite in your own words this is acceptable. Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:17, 30 June 2009 (UTC) Oh, I thought this was the hotel? Oh I thought this was the presidential hotel? Do you live in Ashgabat? Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:21, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Page titles
[edit]You recently moved Olympic Stadium (Ashkhabad) to the title Olympic Stadium (Ashgabat), but then you went back and re-inserted the same content at the old title, so that we had two separate articles about the same subject. I am not sure what you were trying to accomplish, but it is not desirable to have duplicate articles. I have redirected the article to Olympic Stadium (Ashgabat); if the title needs to be changed again, please use the Move function rather than copying and pasting. Thank you. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:29, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, I have no idea how the final has ended. I have really only been able to use the AFC website as my source of information. I guess that I will have to wait until the match report is uploaded to their website. Thanks for your help on the article and it's been very cool to speak with some one from Turkmenistan. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Altyn asyr cup.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Altyn asyr cup.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 03:37, 2 March 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 03:37, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Bahtiyar Can Vanlı. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks!
The article Bahtiyar Can Vanlı has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Yes, you're correct. I don't want to sound too "professorish" but these were the the pro and antithesises I balanced when making the article:
- there are four sieges as far as I am concerned: one that the article is about, one preceding the Battle of Mohács that you've mentioned, one earlier in 1463 when the Ottomans occupied it prior to Matthias Corvinus (I don't remember exactly under what circumstances did it passed to the Ottoman Empire) and one in the very next year when Mehmet Pasha attempted to recapture the fort. Of course there can be another siege during the Great Turkish War and possible sieges could occur between the establishment of the fortress and its first Ottoman seizure.
- My idea was like this : until a the creation of a comprehensive fully extended disambiguation page of the subject, the name of the article is fine like this (since there nowhere to redirect the others). When it becomes confusing or a disambig page will be compiled than it will have to be renamed approprietly upon the naming logic that the disambig page will follow. Or - as this exception shows - maybe the current title could be suitable as well: there were two battles in Banja Luka that Wikipedia covers but while one is named Battle of Banja Luka the other is called the Banja Luka incident and thus those articles don't need to be systematically renamed into Battle of Banja Luka (1737) and Battle of Banja Luka (1994).
- The diversity of multicultural aspects of battles and traditions that cause the diversion in naming conventions also affects the English titles given in this Wiki such as:
- The aforementioned Great Turkish War is called The War of the Holy League in Hungarian and Austro-Turkish War (1683-1699) in French while the majority of interwiki links follow the Great War concept (still it is unclear whether the English title inspired the others or vice-versa).
All things said a consensus regarding all battles around Jajce must be reached but anyway I encourage you to rename/redirect the article to which you think is the best solution, but by my opinion it worths creating a separate page enumerating all possible other sieges/battles of the subject or wait until it gets created. Sorry for the overextended reply. Cheers. Lajbi Holla @ me • CP 07:37, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

My errors
[edit]I do sometimes make errors and it is helpful when you correct them. If I am using a taxobox, it is useful to use an existing taxobox as a guide rather than creating one from scratch every time. So the errors I make tend to be forgetting to change one of the parameters. You obviously have a good eye for detail. Similarly, this is what happened when I searched for how to indicate on the talk page of the article Schizocyathus that part had been translated from the Spanish language Wikipedia. I managed to change the language but forgot to change the species name.
In the case of the WoRMS date for Alepas pacifica, although the year mentioned for the creation of the page is 2010, the citation they like you to use says 2015, perhaps so as to appear up to date, see for yourself at the foot of the page. So I intend to change the year back to 2015. Incidentally, when I created Cyanea nozaki, I had difficulty deciding whether to call the article that or Cyanea nozakii (with a double "i"). What do you think its name should be? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:41, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

Anurogryllus muticus
[edit]Did you want to add to the Anurogryllus muticus article? I have added two single sentences with citations to the two sources you mentioned on my talk page, so they are there ready for you to use. You can substitute what you want to write for what I have put. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:23, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
- I wanted to list Anurogryllus muticus and Anurogryllus arboreus as a dual hook at DYK, thinking to use the trophic eggs to link the two. So I added a paragraph on the breeding habits of A. muticus to its article, but I then decided that the research took place in Ohio and was sure to relate to A. arboreus rather than A. muticus. So I removed the paragraph I had just written from the article and nominated both articles individually at DYK with two separate hooks. It's all very confusing! Thanks for catching my incorrect spelling of Tau !
[edit]The reserve is too new to be in the WDPA database, which is usually what I use as the "commonly accepted English". On checking, I see that the reserve management has an English-version web page that spells it "Shaitan-Tau", and so does birdlife.org, although there are others using the "Shaytan" romanization. I'm adding a REDIRECT to catch both. Thanks for the fast assistance. Every-leaf-that-trembles (talk) 09:18, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Jabal Al-Mukaber Club
[edit]The article Jabal Al-Mukaber Club has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sir Joseph (talk) 18:28, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

Landolphia owariensis
[edit]I seem to be having a rubbery time at the moment and have about finished with Hevea and its species in South America. The growing and harvesting of latex from Landolphia owariensis in Africa seems to have an interesting history. If you feel like further contributing to the article you will be welcome. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:19, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: Hevea articles have been a good job. Now the entire genus has decent content. Sure, despite my busy schedule and article content inexperience, I'd like to contribute to Landolphia owariensis, which had an important part in rubber industry in Africa. Hanberke (talk) 11:44, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- I have done some expansion of this article but it could do with an additional section on the history of the plant with regard to rubber production. It is interesting that it grows as a shrub in the open and as a huge vine in forest. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:03, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Let me see what I can contribute today regarding its history. Hanberke (talk) 06:18, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: Can this article be merged with Congo rubber? I've also found detailed info from Congo Free State. Is OK if I directly move some content from there (of course, indicating that in edit summary)? Hanberke (talk) 08:58, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- Copy the information from Congo Free State if appropriate and carry on as you think fit. However, Congo rubber is about rubber from several species of vines rather than just this one. I wouldn't normally choose to merge the two articles because I would otherwise plan to submit this one to DYK, but that is a selfish reason for not merging. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:16, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: IMHO, there is only one species, which produces this specific Congo rubber, but I'm not sure. Here is a quote from Congo rubber: Red Kasai and Congo rubbers are obtained from the same species of vines, namely, the Landolphia, Owariensis Pal. Beauv., L. Gentilii De Wild and L. Droogmansiana De Wild.[1] It'd be better if you yourself can handle this merge or otherwise. I might add small contributions from the web afterwards. Hanberke (talk) 11:53, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- It looks as if you are right about the synonyms. On looking again at the DYK rules, I think the article will qualify for DYK whether or not it is merged with Congo rubber, but not while a merger discussion is ongoing. So what do you want to do? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:38, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth:. It depends on you now, if you decide to first nominate the article for DYK, then start (or discuss) merge process, then I further develop the history section. Otherwise, if you decide to first merge them, I'll wait for the merge and afterwards see whatever I can add up. This article seems can't go without mentioning some gruesome facts related with forced rubber production. Hanberke (talk) 12:51, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- OK, I will nominate it today so that it is within 7 days or creation and then suggest the merger. The creator of Congo rubber, an active editor, will have to be consulted before merging. I will suggest it later today. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:57, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- You have made such a good job of adding the history that I think merging the article with Congo rubber would be a mistake. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:37, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

- I have done some expansion of this article but it could do with an additional section on the history of the plant with regard to rubber production. It is interesting that it grows as a shrub in the open and as a huge vine in forest. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:03, 5 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: I've added See also + wikilinked the Congo rubber in the lead. Could you please help to fix the Ref no 8 and 10 listed separately, although they are of the same source. Hanberke (talk) 04:23, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Wildlife of Turkmenistan
[edit]I appreciate the help you give with various articles I have been writing and expanding. Many of them I submit to DYK because ... well habit I suppose. Some I don't submit, usually because there is no particularly interesting facts, or perhaps because finding enough suitable information is difficult. For example, I don't think I will submit Drosicha corpulenta because my description of the male comes from a picture in what might be considered a not very reliable source, and because I suspect, from the male female ratio, that the females are parthogenetic, but I don't know. I have enjoyed in the past writing articles of the "Wildlife of ..." sort. Would you be interested in contributing to a Wildlife of Turkmenistan article? I don't know how much information on the topic I will be able to find, but you may have access to rather more. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:35, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: Your wildlife of... series were great at the time. Now I'm happy you are interested in Wildlife of Turkmenistan. I can contribute from Russian resources and to some extent, from Turkmen resources, which are rare for now. Hanberke (talk) 11:33, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- Good, I think I will start it in a sandbox, and we'll see how it develops. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:28, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: Well done! I've also casually placed some photos I consider relevant. Hanberke (talk) 05:10, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Hanberke, and thanks again for looking over Battle of Cape Ecnomus. I thought that this may be the sort of think that would interest you. Gog the Mild (talk) 12:29, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Gog the Mild: Thank you for your kind invitation. As I'm hectic in real life, I favor randomly improve articles for grammar, punctuation, and syntax, plus with certain details. Copy editing seems a way challenging and complicated. I guess I will be ready one day for that, too. Hanberke (talk) 15:21, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- Nah. Copy editing is grammar, punctuation and syntax, with an eye on some of the more obvious MoS rules. Next time you feel like randomly improving an article, consider picking one from here, which contains all of those tagged as needing copy editing. A very small proportion of those which actually do . Happy editing. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:53, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Gog the Mild: Oops, I meant copy vio type issues :) OK, thank you for encouraging! Hanberke (talk) 08:02, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Much appreciated! You're very welcome to move your comments to the review page if you want, no helpful edits are too small! Thanks very much :) ——SN54129 12:20, 15 November 2019 (UTC) |
I came here to thank you for the same suggestions. But Serial Number 54129 was here first. Much appreciated. If you ever feel like copy editing any other article I am working on, do feel free. I could provide a list . Gog the Mild (talk) 14:09, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Serial Number 54129:, @Gog the Mild: Thank you both for your appreciation and welcome approach. As a fan of entire world history mostly up to the conclusion of WWII, I truly enjoy reading new history articles and discover pretty much to my surprise. Ex. Chevauchée series was captivating. As a new example, I stumbled upon Siege of Corfu (1716) being created/edited by @Cplakidas: to the level of a good article within a short period of time. It was a wow experience. [edit]Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Battle of Pontvallain/archive1
[edit]Good day to you Hanberke. Many thanks for sorting out those issues in Battle of Pontvallain; each one had me smacking my forehead while exclaiming "D'oh!" I stopped by to check that you realise that having commented on the article, you may, if you wish, express your support or opposition to its proposed promotion. It is possible that you may find the advice "If you evaluated only a subset of the criteria, please note that with your comments" at the FAQs helpful. Many thanks either way. Gog the Mild (talk) 21:54, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Gog the Mild: Good day to you, too. I've been a bit busy. Thank you for letting me know. I'll assert my support. Hanberke (talk) 16:24, 22 November 2019 (UTC)
Dates
[edit]Hi Hanberke. I note that you have just inserted a couple of commas in Black Prince's chevauchée of 1355. For most of these, thank you. However, note that the habit of adding a comma after a date ("Today, I got up."; "On 4 July, he got up.") is a largely US English habit. As the article is in British English ("Today I got up."; "On 4 July he got up.") I shall be removing one. Cheers. Gog the Mild (talk) 13:37, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Gog the Mild: As a non-native, I usually get caught between American and British English. Good to learn one more nuance. Duly noted. Cheers Hanberke (talk) 13:53, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
