Lajbi, right after you asked to withdraw this nomination, Orlady suggested a potentially interesting hook for it. Can you please let us know there whether you're interested in proceeding with the new hook, or would prefer to withdraw? I hope you'll want to continue, but it's your choice. Thank you. Hello, Lajbi,
Are you sure the Austro-Hungarian pilot was actually an Italian tennis star? And, please tell me, what is the reasoning for supplying a dead link under External links?
Georgejdorner (talk) 15:12, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, again,
- If there were some mention of Banfield's tennis career in either the English or Italian article, the category would have been self-explanatory. How about giving tennis at least a mention (with cite, of course) to make that connection?
- And the second link Diodato Tripcovich Company is a dead one. If it is not your dead link, then I should think you could have no objection to my removing it.
- Mention of his tennis career will definitely improve the article. As it is right now, anyone clicking Banfield on the Category's page is going to wonder about the connection, just as I did.
- It is logical and sensible to mention the topic of a category in the article itself so readers can judge if the category addition is justified. Seems little doubt that the Gottfried Freiherr von Banfield and the Baron Goffredo de Banfield mentioned on the Wimbedon site are one and the same. This translated article also makes a connection between the aviator and the tennis player.--Wolbo (talk) 06:05, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, I am well over my dubiety. I have added a (slender) tie to his tennis feats, with a mention of a championship won and a cite sprinkled in. I leave any further tennis developments to those familiar with the sport.

Cochet revisited
[edit]A very belated follow-up to your post on the Cochet article. I will gladly help to get your sandbox Cochet article live by doing a pre-launch check and, if needed, some copyediting. Just give me a heads up when you are ready. Cheers, --Wolbo (talk) 11:55, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Lajbi, as you may have seen I made a number of updates and copyedits to your Cochet sandbox article over the last few months. It mostly only needed some minor style and formatting updates and the adding of a Grand Slam finals table. There are some other updates that could still be done, like adding a playing style section, but in my view it would be best to publish it as it is now. It is a vast improvement over the current article and any remaining improvements can easily be done when the sandbox article is published. If you agree please go ahead and publish it. Great effort! --Wolbo (talk) 10:33, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Template:Wars and battles involving Croatia
[edit]Hi Lajbi,
Thanks for your opinion on my template Wars and battles involving Croatia. I hope it’s helpful and useful. You can only imagine how much time I spent doing it. But of course, although it may look flawless, it’s far from perfect. I scrutinized every single war and battle, so the Austro-Hungarian – Bosnia-Herzegovinian War in 1878 too. I found that there were more than four battles, but those mentioned in the template were specified by several sources to be most important, so I’ve chosen them. As for the battle of Vitez, I found for instance a source mentioning that “Austrians defeated Bosnian army at the battle near the place called Kikot close to the town of Vitez, and entered Sarajevo on 18th august 1878”. I appreciate your interest in this matter and fully support your idea of making a revamp of that section of the template. You can start as soon as you can. Regards, --Silverije (talk) 20:10, 12 October 2013 (UTC)
- The map seems O.K. at first sight, but some names are wrong a bit (Prjedor is Prijedor, Vrngorac is Vrnograč, Jvanjska is Ivanjska, Brčka is Brčko, Konjica is Konjic, Kulen Vakuj is Kulen Vakuf, Kljui is Ključ etc.) - so be careful. As for removing the year 1878, it is possible only in some cases, because many battles were fought in same villages or towns, but in other wars, especially in Bosnian War 1992-1995 (Sarajevo, Livno, Bihać etc.). Regards, --Silverije (talk) 17:43, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Lajbi, thank you very much for expanding this article that I began as a small stub. It is great how much you could find out. I wonder if you could also learn something about his last years; for it seems strange to me that he at first serves in the Polish army and is even in contact with the Polish resistance, and opposed the German regime, and later for some reason he joins the German army and dies at Stalingrad. There is also an uncertainty concerning his date of death; some websites including the Polish and French wiki claim he died in 1942 (tennisarchives.com says he "disappeared during the war", i.e. missing in action?), while the book I added as a reference says 1943.--Kompakt (talk) 08:30, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

- Hi, I added a ref for the birth date and death date of Franjo Kukuljević (you may want to reformat it based on your footnote system). By the way, the birth date given by the Davis Cup site is particularly erroneous.
- Now all that's left is an answer to my question under Dragutin Mitić. I would like to know if you're quoting the words of Predrag Briksi, or quoting the article text? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:05, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, I didn't mean that you should write it as a direct quote if it isn't. If you're just lifting the text from the source, write it like this:
According to tennis expert Predrag Briksi, "(insert the exact translation of the source)".

[edit]Downgrading me [1]? Now you're just being mean... ;-) --Wolbo (talk) 14:52, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- But it's the player that plays the game... In earnest, while I don't think that the distinction between stub and start is all that important, and is certainly not exact science, I would not favor using only the 1,500 character guideline. It is too rigid and more importantly it is not supported by our project's assessment guidelines. No mention of a character limit is made there at all. I have some experience in this area (more than 10,000 assessment updates on tennis articles) and when trying to distinguish between stub and start I not only look at the quantity of the prose but also judge it based on the presence (or absence) of the elements that make up a proper tennis bio. Take for example the Manuel de Gomar article. It may not quite have 1,500 characters of prose but it much better meets the description of a start article than a stub. It has a usable amount of good content, is properly structured, is sufficiently sourced, has external links, an infobox and proper categories. To me that is a start article. Compare it for instance with real stubs, like all those copy & paste cookie cutter Olympic tennis player articles created recently (e.g. Moritz von Bissing), and you can see the difference.--Wolbo (talk) 18:00, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

An award given to you on behalf of people you have helped
[edit]The 25 DYK Nomination Medal | ||
There are dozens of people who have written and nominated 25 of there own DYK articles. This is a major achievement, however the award that you get is not, in my opinion, the highest award given by the DYK project. The highest award are given to the people who nominate other peoples articles. Its a selfless task and it is not "easy" ... its tricky. You are one of the few with a twenty five nomination award. Brilliant! Well done! Victuallers (talk) 23:14, 22 February 2014 (UTC) |

Tennis player biography challenge
[edit]To liven things up a bit how about we create a tennis player biography challenge? The idea is stunningly simple; I select a tennis player for which you have to create an article and in return you select one for me. In doing so we try to take into account each others interests. Let's say the article should be created within the next three months and be at least start quality. Are you in for a challenge?--Wolbo (talk) 12:15, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- Kudos for picking up the challenge. I will give you a choice between two players: Roman Najuch or Franz Wilhelm Matejka. Might not be the easiest to find info on but timewise it is right up your alley. Good luck!--Wolbo (talk) 12:31, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Redskull.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Redskull.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:35, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

The file File:California Love cover art.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Willy1018 (talk) 07:42, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Streetsweepers Entertainment
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Streetsweepers Entertainment requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 22:34, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
