Unspecified source/license for File:P.A.S. Korinthos official logo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:P.A.S. Korinthos official logo.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 19:01, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Γ ΕΘΝΙΚΗ

[edit]

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8F1:1403:F00:5035:D8F1:C4BA:126F (talk) 13:43, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Super League OPAP logo.jpeg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Super League OPAP logo.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Takis Karagiozopoulos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Defender (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi GRanemos1, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 02:21, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK that's pretty decent SHISHIR DUA (talk) 06:13, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Paris Babis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alkis Markopouliotis. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 2003–04 Beta Ethniki

[edit]

Hi! When looking at 2003–04 Beta Ethniki I linked several notable players, and three teams. I understand that Kassandra F.C. and Patraikos F.C. don't exist anymore, but their history should be written somewhere. And they should definitely have their own player and manager categories. Poseidon Neon Poron also played in the same league, and should be a linked item. Does Poseidon Neon Poron exist anymore? Geschichte (talk) 17:09, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Poseidon Neon Poron dissolved in 2017 after play many seasons in Pieria Football Clubs Association Championships. You can see team's history in Greek wikipedia: Ποσειδών Νέων Πόρων. Also for Patraikos F.C. who merged with Panachaiki F.C. in 2005 this is the page: Πατραϊκός and for Kassandra F.C. which merged with Olympiacos Volou 1937 F.C. in 2004 is this one: Κασσάνδρα. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GRanemos1 (talkcontribs) 17:21, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:A.E.K. Athens departments logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

"Simeon Papadopoulos" or "Symeon Papadopoulos"?

[edit]

Hi GRanemos1, and thank you for your message on my usertalk page.
I changed the name on the English language Wikipedia page because this was the transliteration of his name on his player profile on the PAOK FC website.
Those other sites you mention aren't considered to be "reliable sources" for biographies of living people. See the articles for deletion discussion of "Soccerway", for example.
Please do feel free to continue this at Talk:Simeon Papadopoulos.
Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:24, 19 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The right name is Symeon Papadopoulos for sure 100%. I am 100% sure. Symeon is the right because of the Greek "υ". If it was "ι" the right was Simeon but in Greek is "Συμεών" so the right name is "Symeon" in English. Also, see some links about the name Symeon: behindthename.com, sheknows.com. There are so many links and you think that all of them are not reliable? I am Greek and i know 100% correct the right name is Symeon. You change it but you did not ask before on talk page... Greek football Cup

[edit]

Hello. You have made many edits on Greek football articles. Good job, well done! I have made simiral edits on the majority of Greek Football Cup seasons. There is a controversy and an edit war on the Greek Football Cup page about the statistics (Performance by club section). I would like to write down your opinion on the Talk page. Should Olympiacos and Panathinaikos be credited as runners-ups for the 1961-62 cup edition which was abandoned (final abandoned in overtime)? Leave your comment on the Talk page to help ending this dispute. Thank you. Abudabanas (talk) 12:33, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Alexis Alexiou (lawyer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.aekfc.gr/ped/alexis-alexiou-43327.htm?lang=en&path=-1186713899. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Notice

The file File:Loukas Barlos.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Source is not clear but appears to be a screenshot of a copyright source? Uploader needs to clarify

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Please don't remove deletion tags without addressing the problem

[edit]

In the above two cases, the deletion tags clearly expressed a problem that needs to be solved – in both cases, they apparently were copyright violations. In such cases, it's not OK to simply remove the message without addressing the problem. That is not helpful but disruptive. We can not violate copyright, but we have to obey the law. ◅ Sebastian 18:45, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You may remove this message if you have addressed the concern or otherwise object to deletion for any reason. You kidding me? GRanemos1 (talk) 19:04, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(I indented your reply per WP:TALKREPLY)
That wording offers two possibilities: Addressing the concern or to otherwise object. You did not do the former, that leaves only the second. So, are you seriously objecting to the fact that we have to follow the law? Or do you have any objection that is compatible with the law? If so, please write it here. ◅ Sebastian 10:59, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mattythewhite: Hello! I feel like saying that while he isn't adding sources to his edits, he isn't actually vandalizing, with the meaning of changing text and/or numbers to mess other editors about, or so to just ruin an article: while he doesn't include references, his edits are based on announcements of football news, i.e. he means no harm. However, you are definitely right that no sources is something that should be dealt with, so I will send him a message in Greek (on his talk page in the Greek WP) hoping that it will make your point clearer to him. Barkas and Giakoumakis

[edit]

Hi there. I just wondered why you moved the pages for Vasilis Barkas and Giorgos Giakoumakis? I have provided sources that give their names in Greek and as far as I can see, there is no 'E' in Giorgos and no 'O' in Vasilis. These translations of the players' first names are also widely used by English sources. I am happy to be corrected if there are sources which prove otherwise, but you didn't provide any before moving the pages. Kind regards Celticbhoy97 (talk) 12:57, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello. The right name of Giakoumakis is Georgios, not Giorgos. It's his baptism name. Also for Barkas is Vasilios, not Vasilis. Also baptism name. GRanemos1 (talk) 16:43, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Do you have a source for this? On social media, the players refer to themselves as 'Giorgos' (https://www.instagram.com/giakoum9_official) and 'Vasilis' (https://www.instagram.com/vasilisbarkasofficial). The sources I provided in the articles also refer to them as "Γιώργος" (not "Γεώργιος") and "Βασίλης" (not "Βασίλειος"). Celticbhoy97 (talk) 11:03, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yes, i know. Everyone in Greece that have the name Georgios prefer Giorgos (and Vasilios, Vasilis), but those names are not official. Official names are Georgios and Vasilios. Transfermarkt is a source that have their names correct. It's different what they prefer and what is the correct and the official about their names. At flashscore.com, futhead.com, fotmod.com, dailyrecord.co.uk you can see the correct name of Georgios Giakoumakis. Also, as a Celtic fan you have to remember Georgios Samaras. Here in Greece they talk to him like Giorgos but the official name is Georgios. GRanemos1 (talk) 13:32, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I understand you now. If that's the case, wouldn't it be better to follow the example of the article for Giorgos Karagounis (the first line says Georgios "Giorgos" Karagounis, but the title of the article is Giorgos Karagounis)? In nearly every English source, the players are known by their shortened names. Likewise, the official Celtic website refers to them in this way. Celticbhoy97 (talk) 12:43, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • Page of Giorgos Karagounis is also wrong. It isn't official the name Giorgos. For example see the page of Gus Poyet. It's also wrong because the official name is Gustavo. It's the same with the Greek names. The right thing is to have official names in the front page and unofficial names inside their pages. Please, if you can go back the pages to Georgios Giakoumakis (footballer) and Vasilios Barkas with a source. Thank you. GRanemos1 (talk) 15:50, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
        • Not to but in, but I was contacted by @Celticbhoy97 a few days ago about this and have some thoughts. I'm not sure why you're under the impression that we should title articles based on "official" names. our own policy on article titles states that Wikipedia "generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources)", and that "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title". See WP:UCRN for more detail.
        • It does however become trickier when names are being transliterated from another script, as is the case here. I would point out that our own article for Barkas' given name (Vassilios) itself explains that there are multiple potential transliterations of this name from Greek into Latin script. As far as his "common name" goes, a quick Google News search shows that Vasilis is the more frequent spelling, with 3,540 results compared to 939 for Vasilios. I'd also note that his current club, Celtic, use Vasilis, and that Barkas uses this spelling himself on his official Instagram profile. So Vasilis seems to me to be the spelling we should use. If you still think it should be moved, I would ask that you open a WP:RM for it to be discussed, rather than making another move yourself, given that your previous moves have been contested. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:33, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Mattythewhite. Thanks for clarifying. This also applies to Giorgos Giakoumakis, where the more frequent spelling is Giorgos, rather than Georgios. Would you agree that the page should be moved back to Giorgos? Kind regards. Celticbhoy97 (talk) 14:37, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking pages

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Marchjuly. I noticed that you recently removed all content from File talk:AEK Athletic Club.png. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. -- Marchjuly (talk) 19:57, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't remove the {{Oldffdfull}} template from the top of File talk:AEK Athletic Club.png again. You may remove your own post you added to the file's talk page in many cases as long as you follow the guidance given here, but you shouldn't remove any notifications added to the top of the page because they are there for the benefit and information of all users. You tried to blank this page once before, but your edit was reverted shortly thereafter by an administrator. If you continue to try and blank the page, you actions are eventually going to be seen as disruptive and your account may possibly end up being blocked as a result. Just for reference, removing the "oldffdfull" notification won't change the FFD's result. If you don't understand something about the FFD or feel an error was somehow made, you should follow the guidance given in WP:CLOSECHALLENGE and post a message on the user talk page of the administrator who closed the discussion. I'm sure that administrator will be happy to try and explain things to you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:15, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello friend and thanks for this message. A.E.K. (sports club)'s current logo (File:AEK Athletic Club.png) it should be and in other pages of departments of AEK Athens Athletic Club, like AEK V.C., AEK Women's Volleyball Club, AEK (men's water polo) and AEK (women's water polo), which they use the same logo at their jerseys and tournaments. But, if you see the Talk Page of the file (as of 14 April 2020) they say that it should be keep it only at A.E.K. (sports club). Can we fix it and use it to all the other departments, please? GRanemos1 (talk) 06:13, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Non-free files like the A.E.K. logo need to be used in accordance with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy and this policy is quite restrictive. One of these restrictions is trying to keep the usage of a non-free file as minimal as possible, which means that usage is sometimes limited to the primary or main article about a sports club like A.E.K. If you look at the previous FFD discussion about this file's non-free use, you will see that a consensus was established to limit the file's use to only the main article about A.E.K. because of item 17 of WP:NFC#UUI: basically, the use of logos like this is limited to articles about the parent entity (i.e. the main article) even if the same logo is also used by child entities. In other words, the use of such logos is generally limited to the main article about a company, even if there are individual articles about various departments of the company and these departments use the same logo. It's going to be hard to establish a consensus in favor of using the main logo for the club in each individual team's article, but team-specific logos (if they exist) might be able to be used instead. DO you know whether this Facebook account is for the A.E.K. women's volleyball team, this Facebook account is for the A.E.K. men's water polo team, this Facebook account is for the A.E.K. men's volleyball team, or this Facebook account is for the A.E.K. men's basketball team? If you look at the logos used on those Facebook accounts, you'll see that they are specific to each team: they incorporate some version of the main club's logo into a slightly different logo specific to each team. Logos such as those may be OK to upload and use on individual team pages instead of the main club logo. The administrator who closed the FFD discussion about the main sport club's logo is named Jo-Jo Eumerus, and you can ask him about this on his user talk page if you want. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:30, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, can you please help me to remove from Wikipedia the File:AEK Athletic Club.png? GRanemos1 (talk) 10:53, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why do you want to remove that particular file? Its non-free use in A.E.K. (sports club) doesn't seem to be a problem which means there doesn't seem to be a valid reason to delete the file. What you are most likely going to need to do is upload separate team-specific logos for use in their respective articles. These logos are also likely to be non-free content just like the main club logo. You can upload the individual team logos yourself using WP:UPLOAD and clicking on "Upload a non-free file", or you can ask for help at at WP:FFU. As I posted above, you should discuss what you want to do with administrator Jo-Jo Eumerus by posting a message on his user talk page. He will advise you on what your options are. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:04, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's exactly the same logo for all the departments. Like Panathinaikos and Olympiacos amateur departments. GRanemos1 (talk) 11:10, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You probably should discuss this with the administrator who closed the FFD discussion about the file. As I explained above, when the logo used by a parent entity is also used by a child entity, the general consensus has been that the use should be limited to the article about the parent entity. I'm sure you can find examples where this consensus isn't being followed in the case of other sports clubs, but there could be differences that aren't always immediately appearent as explained here. Just because other similar files are being used in certain articles, it doesn't mean that they should be being used in those certain articles. It could just simply mean that the non-free use of those other files has yet to be discussed or assessed. The FFD discussion was about the non-free use of this particular logo and not how similar non-free logos may be being used. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:23, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am not exactly sure what is requested here, but when the logo used by a parent entity is also used by a child entity, the general consensus has been that the use should be limited to the article about the parent entity. means that we cannot really use the logo on the other articles. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 15:10, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: GRanemos1 wants to use the club's primary logo in articles about them individual club teams. They posted something regarding this on the file's talk page, but then blanked the page (including the "Oldffdfull" template you added). I've been trying to explain to them that they shouldn't blank the file's talk page, but should instead discuss the FFD close with you if they have any questions. Since they didn't seem understand what I was posting, I pinged you and JJMC89 since you were the two involved in the FFD, and I thought one of you could better explain why the file was removed from the other article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:54, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Jo-Jo Eumerus. As you can see at the file of Panathinaikos (File:Panathinaikos A.O. logo.svg) it used at all the amateur departments of the team. The same with Olympiacos (File:Olympiacos S.F.P.png). I want to do the same with AEK logo and the departments of the club (File:AEK Athletic Club.png), like volleyball (men's and women's) and water polo (men's and women's) departments, which they use the same logo as A.E.K. (sports club) use. Can we do this? GRanemos1 (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mass vandalism by other user in Superleague Greece season articles

[edit]

Hi there (γεια χαρά). Mass vandalism has happened in several Superleague Greece articles, such as 2005–06 Alpha Ethniki, 2002–03 Alpha Ethniki and 2000–01 Alpha Ethniki, but also 2022–23 Super League Greece, from the same user who is reported in this report and keeps changing the tiebreaker to "goal difference" instead of "head-to-head points", altering the table consequently and altering even the relegation conditions (!) if altering the table alters the standings as well (major example is 2005–06 Alpha Ethniki). Since you pay attention to such stuff, I am just letting you know to keep an eye if you can, as well. --SteliosGR (talk) 22:33, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You created the article on Giannis Konstantelias and gave a date of birth of 10 May 2003. This is also the date the Greek Wikipedia gives. Soccerway however say 5 March 2003. Do you remember what your source was? I thought that Soccerway is relatively reliable but if your source was a Greek one then it might be more trustworthy.
