[edit]Greetings. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to UEFA Champions League, did not appear to be constructive and has been or will be reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Live updates
[edit]Hi.
Please do not update statistics or scores while a match is in progress. Instead, wait until the match has finished before updating. At WikiProject Football there is a consensus not to add live scores and also a consensus not to update any statistics while a match is in progress. Without live updates it is easier to avoid duplicate information and errors from being published on the article.
Please keep this in mind. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 15:38, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in LeBron James, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Specifically, WP:OVERLINK advises that "Cleveland Cavaliers" does not need to be linked twice in the team history section. —Bagumba (talk) 22:05, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Timestamp
[edit]Hi.
When you update statistics please remember that you should also update the timestamps as of when the stats are correct. This is done by manually updating the date above or below the statistics table. By doing this we show when the stats were last updated and it prevents other editors from accidentally updating the stats again.
Please keep this in mind. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 09:19, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
Please avoid changing "Trump" to "Drumpf"
[edit]Hi FrenchFootball. In one of your recent edits, you changed the word "Trump" to "Drumpf". I assume that this was unintentional and caused by having the Drumpfinator extension enabled. Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Proposed deletion of Jonathan Ikoné
[edit]The article Jonathan Ikoné has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sir Sputnik (talk) 13:39, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Mouctar Diakhaby is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Moving articles
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Kylian Mbappe a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Kylian Mbappé. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Amine Harit France U19 England U19.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Amine Harit France U19 England U19.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 00:41, 27 February 2017 (UTC)

Non-free image use
[edit]Hi FrenchFootball. The licensing of each image you see on Wikipedia is determined by it copyright status and not every image file you see on Wikipedia is licensed the same. Some files are licensed as public domain or licensed under a free licensed suitable for Wikipedia and these are often collectively referred to as "free images". Other files are licensed as non-free content because of their copyright status and these file are commonly referred to as "non-free images". Non-free image use is highly restricted and each use of such an an image must satisfy Wikipedia's non-free image use policy. One of these restrctions is WP:NFCC#9, which says that non-free content can only be used in the article namespace. Non-free content should not be used on usepages or their subpages as explained in WP:UP#Non-free images which is why I have removed File:Equipe de France de football Logo.png from your user page. Perhaps you did not notice the edit sum I left the first time I removed the image; therefore, I'm posting this here to provide more explanation. Please do not re-add these logos again because doing so is clearly in violation of relevant Wikipedia policy. If you have any questions about this, you can ask for help at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 13:30, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Linking football player's country
[edit]Hi. I've noticed you're adding links to the countries in football players' infoboxes. My understanding is that is considered "overlinking". The section "What generally should not be linked" at the Manual of Style article on "Linking" also states:
"A good question to ask yourself is whether reading the article you're about to link to would help someone understand the article you are linking from. Unless a term is particularly relevant to the context in the article, the following are not usually linked:
- Everyday words understood by most readers in context
- The names of major geographic features, locations (e.g. United States, London, New York City, France, Berlin...), languages, nationalities (e.g. English, British, American, French, German...) and religions (e.g. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism...)"

Hello, FrenchFootball. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Titi d'Or, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

GA nomination for Odsonne Édouard and other matters
[edit]Hi FrenchFootball. I have passed your nomination for Odsonne Édouard. A bot has update the article and added the GA icon. Please see message directly above this one. It was nice to work with you in getting the page up to standard. Please note, though, that the page will need to be maintained regularly to keep the GA status, and as the player is only 19 there will be a lot of work to be done as his career progresses.
The page is now eligible for DYK - please see Wiki:DYK for instructions on how to get the article featured on the home page under the Did You Know? section.
I notice that you've also nominated Amine Harit and Baptiste Serin (rugby) for GA. Please note that these articles are likely to be quick-failed by a reviewer as they are far too short and do not meet GA Criteria. You might want to add additional content to these pages or withdraw the nominations by removing the {{GA nominee}} from the article talk page.
Lastly, I have noticed that Titi d'Or, a page you recently created, is proposed for deletion. I'm in favour of the page but at present it will likely be deleted by an administrator. To save it, please source as much information from alternative websites to Goal.com (perhaps the official PSG site and other French media). I would also advise that you expand the lede and add as much interesting information to show why the award is notable in spite of it being awarded to academy players (which aren't deemed notable at the time).
I hope I've been able to help and look forward to working with you again in the future. Cheers, Liam E. Bekker (talk) 08:13, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO? |
According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017. What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome. |
New initiatives have been created for:
While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}. Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page. |

Bassem Srarfi
[edit]Hi FrenchFootball, is there a reason you keep removing the Nice II stats from the Bassem Srarfi article and doing similar edits on other articles? R96Skinner (talk) 21:32, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi R96Skinner, yes there is. I only do so for French reserve teams because unlike the Spanish system for example, a reserve team cannot go any higher then Championnat National 2, which is a semi-pro and amateur tier of the French football ladder. Therefore I feel that while the stats should appear in the infobox, I don't feel like it belongs in the wikitable with the players more precise stats. I hope this was a satisfactory answer and please let me know what you think. FrenchFootball (talk) 14:54, 12 August 2017 (UTC) PS: please look at the Équipe réserve page on the French wikipedia for confirmation of what I was saying.
- Fair enough answer. It's one of Wikipedia's many unknown things, no exact rule to say in either direction; people are always disagreeing whether they should be in the infobox itself nevermind the career stats. I get what you're saying, but I'd say if it's in the infobox it should be in the career stats too; for consistency. Unless a rule is made, it's probably best to keep the original set-up. Like as Srarfi's is as it stands now, and vice-versa if it's the other way around on a different article. Thanks for responding, FrenchFootball! R96Skinner (talk) 17:54, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
Zlatan Ibrahimović
[edit]He was released on 30 June and became a free agent for two month. Please leave the infobox as two separate deal. Matthew_hk tc 11:17, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Hello. Why did you remove material from the article? He played for Manchester United as number 9 during the 2016-17 season, a contract that expired on 30 June 2017, but has since signed a new contract with them, to play as number 10 during the 2017-18 season. That is two separate contracts, and also a different jersey number... - Tom | Thomas.W talk 11:19, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Adrien Rabiot (and others, i suppose)
[edit]Hello from Portugal,
i would like to ask you why is it that almost everytime you update the infobox's stats, the fields get all mixed? Does it have anything with editing from a mobile phone or similar? Just curious.
Happy editing --Quite A Character (talk) 15:29, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hey, yeah I've noticed that and I have no idea why. It only does it with Rabiot but it's very strange. I don't edit on my phone and I edit it like I edit anyone else and it literally never happens elsewhere. Maybe the way the page was setup in the first place I don't know. Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll pay more attention to that. I noticed you undid my edit, so I just reupdated the wikitable and nothing changed. User talk:FrenchFootball 15:40, 7 April 2018 (UTC)

Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: April 2018 |
Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles. If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.
WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Per WP:NRIVALRY.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Boleyn (talk) 20:25, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors. Every little bit helps! Thanks for your contributions!
WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}
Want some tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? |
Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)! |

The article Haïlé Dasta has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Working musician, but can't find enough in-depth coverage to meet WP:GNG, and doesn't meet WP:MUSICBIO. Notability is not inherited.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onel5969 TT me 12:30, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Can I know why did you erase my edit about Lavelanet? Thank you. --LucasD (talk) 07:58, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @LucasD:. I'm not FrenchFootball (who probably should have given an explanation in their revert). But you didn't include a reference to back up the claim you added to the article. Content in Wikipedia articles needs to be verifiable. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:38, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

[edit]International goals section heading
[edit]Hi, please note that we are not encouraged to include section headings for international goals tables. There was a discussion a little while back at WT:FOOTY which resulted in this style being adopted. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 12:50, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
Mateta
[edit]Hi. Please be careful about overwriting other contributor's work. This change was a regression is many ways:
- you removed transfer details,
- replaced English-language references by a French one,
- introduced a wrong start year for his Crystal Palace stint,
- removed the career stats entry for his Crystal Palace stint,
- added [[Category:Premier League players]] even though he has not played there yet.

[edit]I had worked so hard, I added over 1,000 bytes to Maxime Lopez, and then you came and edit conflicted. :-( Unfortunate. Paul Vaurie (talk) 14:50, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2021 European Rugby Champions Cup Final, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Victor Vito. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Fencing at the 2020 Summer Olympics, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. It seems clear to me that, by now, you must know that your contributions require reference citations. What is not clear is where you got the information to edit the article. Please provide sources or stop making such edits. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 03:35, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Benjamin112. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Watford F.C., but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I haven't seen any credible sources that list Sissoko as the official Watford captain. Yes, he has captained many recent matches, but that is no clear indication that he has been given that role officially. Benjamin112 ☎ 00:47, 22 November 2021 (UTC)

2023 Six Nations Championship squads moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, 2023 Six Nations Championship squads, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Léo Drouet moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Léo Drouet, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) WP:NFOOTY is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Hello, FrenchFootball
Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Thebiguglyalien, and I thank you for your contributions.

The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.
If you wish to contest the deletion:
- Edit the page
- Remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- Click the button.
If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Thebiguglyalien}}
