Deletion of "Seth Yudof" page

Hello,

I hope your weekend has treated you well. I'm writing as I've noticed that one of the pages I've helped write and maintain (along with a collection of others) the last few months has been deleted as it was considered an advertisement. The page in question is "Seth Yudof" - which was written using no biased third party sources and tried to be unbiased. I understand that it was deleted on April 5th and am hoping (since I'm still learning Wikipedia) that rather than deletion, I might be able to edit and remedy any and all issues with the page rather than writing a new one from scratch. Please let me know if this is at all possible or if a review board would be recommended. Again, I hope your weekend has treated you well and don't mean to be a bother. Thanks!

You can request undeletion here, although it's very unlikely that your request will be granted given the blatant advertisement-like content in the article. Please log in (I assume you have an account) and declare your conflict of interest if any, because I get antsy when someone says they are "maintaining" pages like these. We'll go forward from there. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:05, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Ignazio Ciufolini misconducts

Dear FreeRangeFrog, please permit me to not agree with your actions about censoring the misconudct by Ignazio Ciufolini. What was missing at the time of the early discussion in the Talk page is now present. I cannot realize how you can act so. Thank you. Rambilon (talk) 20:08, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

No, it's not, not in my opinion. But I posted a comment to the article's talk page, where I recommend you should be seeking consensus about this. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:09, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
How can you deny the reality? There are independent, third-parties sources from all over the world in different languages by different non-anonymous authors (apart from Neuroskeptic, but it is in a reliable and reputable source such as Discover (magazine). And there is a Letter to the Editor in a peer-reviewed journal like Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology! You cannot abus of your position in such a way! And if you look carefully the editing history of Ignazio Ciufolini you will se that there several one-purpose authors devoted entirely to him! Rambilon (talk) 20:19, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
See WP:BLP/N#Ignazio Ciufolini. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:24, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

I was reading over the talk page discussion and it seemed very familiar to me. Back in October or November, I tried to work on a compromise between editors on Talk:Rupert Sheldrake. I eventually saw the effort was futile and ever since I've been labeled a "fringe-pusher" even though I've never edited a single article in the pseudoscience area, I just made what I thought were conciliatory remarks on a talk page. Some of the editor who are skeptics are quite knowledgeable about the topics but BLP concerns take a much lower priority to labeling different people as pseudoscientists (or, as some would say, quacks). There doesn't seem to be a middle ground, there is a WP:BATTLEGROUND mentality. I guess I'm just commiserating with you and I'm glad one other person is aware of the polarizing nature of editing in this field. Liz Read! Talk! 00:28, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

@Liz: Thank you for the commiseration, I appreciate it I think yes, there is a definite siege mentality here, perhaps caused by repeated attempts at sanitizing these articles by their subjects or adherents. But I think we need to be better than that. And the instant lack of good faith when an established editor with no edits to those topics tries to fix one is definitely demoralizing. But quite honestly I'm not sure how to fix the problem. Either we dispense with the concept of consensus (which would be terrible) or just friggin' delete them all en masse (which would be terrible as well). §FreeRangeFrogcroak 02:03, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Well, recently, there has been a battle of the cases (at AN, AN/I and ARE) where editors from either side try to get the other side sanctioned. So, there are fewer skeptics right now than there were in March, some have moved on to editing in other areas. I think the regulars at those noticeboards are getting tired of seeing this in-fighting. Liz Read! Talk! 02:27, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Oh, I saw the whole Sheldrake drama develop in ANI because it's in my watchlist. Should have known better before I went and edited Radin's bio :( §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:08, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Well, I think the situation will get worse if impartial editors stay away from contested articles. I should give it another shot, maybe in a less controversial area. Liz Read! Talk! 18:05, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Why delete me?

Why delete Double G (rapper)I've spent a good amount of time creating that page and for you to just delete its hurts me especially since that's me and i was creating it to help get my name pout when people look me up... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.92.138.213 (talk) 23:20, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not the place to "help get your name out", subjects must meet the notability guidelines for inclusion. And in the case of your article, there wasn't even a minimal assertion of importance. You'll also want to read this and this. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:25, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Deleted Customer Engagement Management page

Can you please publish the Customer Engagement Management page without the reference links? Otherwise, the term itself is not defined on Wikipedia.

Mike.Cichon (talk) 23:25, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Nope, that was hopelessly promotional. Quote: big data analytics to help organizations gain a holistic view of how effectively an organization is engaging and a broader perspective, these solutions help organizations take a more strategic approach to effects of customer and employee engagement etc. Wikipedia articles are not collections of buzzwords. And with your comment in the talk page you actually provided the argument against keeping the page to begin with, had it not been promotional - that there are very few sources available for the concept. Wikipedia cannot be used to promote or expand topics or concepts, the inclusion guidelines require that we use reliable secondary sources to document our articles. If those sources don't exist then the topic should not exist here. In other words, we document notability, not help create it. Having said that, if you feel you can get that going from a sourcing perspective, you're welcome to use WP:AFC to work on the article and have someone else review it before it goes "live". §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:33, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Republishing article

Hello friend I want to inform you that Anamika Mishra is a very well known author from India and request you to edit her article and republish it. Thanks 203.88.6.44 (talk) 18:16, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Not sure why you're asking me, I never deleted that article. But the fact that it's been deleted and recreated and now protected from creation should tell you that it's probably not appropriate for Wikipedia. If you feel the subject meets the notability guidelines for inclusion then I'd recommend using Articles for Creation instead so that other editors can evaluate it before it is promoted. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:22, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Courtesy blanking

I wonder if you can tell me why you did this? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 10:38, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

@JamesBWatson: There was an OTRS request around this (with other demands), if you have access I can get you the ticket #. Why? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 14:30, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
It's of no importance, I just saw the blanking without any obvious reason, and wondered. Thanks for answering, anyway. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:32, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Recreated by Use:Devak31 naru - I've deleted it. As I brought the AfD I won't take action on the editor. Dougweller (talk) 17:12, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

@Dougweller: Salted it and left a comment on the user's talk. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:41, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
I meant to reply and say that I hadn't salted it because salting makes it harder to notice a recreation, eg of RJ Preet Atwal - speedy tagged, and another IP comes along to remove the speedy tag twice - a different IP this time. Longer or indefinite block I think. Dougweller (talk) 12:21, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

keltonmorgan edits

Just curious what is considered commentary/personal analysis. Everything I write includes a citation to an outside source - either government agency or major daily newspaper and is 100% absolute fact. And as opposed to editing anonymously, I do so with my real name. Whoever else edits the page does so anonymously and does not cite 99% of the information, much of which is definitely editorial/opinion.

Would appreciate your clarification or specific examples of edits that violate TOS so I can avoid them in the future.

Thank you,

Kelton Morgan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keltonmorgan (talkcontribs) 16:51, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

@Keltonmorgan: You are using primary sources to insert commentary such as claims to be a farmer, but has actually been a lobbyist who represented numerous special interests. and Nearly 70% of Texas Republicans voted against Miller in the first round of the Primary, not to mention He has also been accused of hiring illegal immigrants for projects in Wichita Falls and suffered a gunshot wound under mysterious circumstances in his hometown of Stephenville. which was completely unsourced to begin with. Further, you actually removed sourced information. I don't doubt that as many politicians this person merits some valid criticism, and some of the stories from the Dallas Morning News are OK, assuming they are not introduced with phrases such as Miller is most known for voting in favor of a state income tax which is unsupported by your sources. Material in biographies must be neutral and follow the sources used to the letter. If you feel you can't do that because you have a bias then you shouldn't be editing them at all. I would invite you to read the policy on biographies before you continue. We are not against including criticism of people, but it cannot be done that way. If there is unsourced material you are free to challenge and remove it, or fix it, but these types of edits are inappropriate. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:40, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your input. I have edited the page in a way I believe follows those guidelines. Please review and let me know if there are any problems with any of the edits. Thank you, Kelton — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keltonmorgan (talkcontribs) 19:51, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

I removed the bit about him being a lobbyist - you used a primary source for that which is not acceptable. You need a secondary source that specifically calls him that. Also, now you have issues with weight, so I'd recommend adding some more positive or neutral details. The animal cruelty accusation for example should probably go. See WP:BLPCRIME. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:22, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Not sure I understand. When I link to the official state record showing his lobbyist registration, that's not a valid source to say he's a registered lobbyist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keltonmorgan (talkcontribs) 01:29, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Did you click on the link in my comment that says "primary source"? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:33, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Deleting Urban Ladder

Hi, the page Urban Ladder was deleted as it was unambiguous advertising claiming the sources were all press releases. However, ALL the sources were NOT press releases and were in fact articles written independently in leading newspapers in India.

Since the company is an upcoming startup in India which has been covered by Indian business newspapers, it is a company that deserves a Wiki page. I request you to undelete the page since it meets Wiki requirements for pages on a company.

Sudhanvaraom (talk) 06:49, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

@Sudhanvaraom: It doesn't matter what the sources were, the article was deleted because it was written in a non-encyclopedic tone that came across as an advertisement. If you have a conflict of interest and you feel it meets the "Wiki requirements" (which can be found here) then please use WP:AFC to submit it instead of creating it yourself. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 16:57, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

Wikilinking

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

This applies to infoboxes, too.

Thanks, and my best wishes.

Not Getting Update Notices of Updates

I am following Amazon Eve's page. I am NOT getting notification of updates. I very much want to. As you may recall I was suspended for a while and then reinstated. I am wondering if there is some lingering suspension hanging around. I was reinstated for a bit and then I lost it. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance and for your work on Eve's page. You removed the paragraph I added to the article on Branch Davidians. The article is deficient because it discusses Houteff and does not mention Roden when in reality Roden founded the Branch Davidians, Houteff had nothing to do with it. As far as sources go, I suppose I am the source as I was a Branch Davidian and knew Benjamin Roden. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbunds (talkcontribs) 16:10, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Nifedipine

Hi I recently made changes to the Nifedipine page regarding Professor Saminderjit Adalat Kular and his contribution to the development of Nifedipine. Can you please explain what was te problem? I cited a article from the respected Neurosurg. Journal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.48.95.78 (talk) 21:25, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

The problem is that you can't add material about a living person, phrased like that, to that article. It's offtopic at best, injurious to the person at worst, and any "controversy" must reference multiple secondary reliable sources. What you have there is not that. And it would belong in the "Controversies related to Nifedipine", if we had one. Or in the bio about the scientist, if it existed. If there is indeed some kind of controversy then it needs to be not about a person but about the topic of the article. If you want a second opinion you can ask at the Biography noticeboard. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 07:34, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

I understand what you are saying, however, I cannot find any newspaper article etc. with this information. The information and article was presented during a conference on blood pressure medication in Manchester, UK. Also the inormation is related to the article, it is part of the "History of Nifedipine" and related to the first paragraph of that section. But you are correct I can't find any "secondary source". To rectify this can I put up a modified version of what I added, retracting any names etc.? I am new to wikipedia so I am still learning the rules. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.48.95.78 (talk) 11:33, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

If you can't find information about it then you should not add it to the article. See WP:V, and more importantly, WP:BLP. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 04:23, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Oproiescu Sorin Virgil

Hello FreeRangeFrog. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Oproiescu Sorin Virgil, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Meets WP:NFOOTY as there have been changes in who the subject plays (that is Mosta F.C.) for since the AFD - if you disagree this will need to go to AFD again. Thank you. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 06:40, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

@Callanec: Thanks for the heads up, but I didn't place the tag, I just reverted the removal by the creator. The tag was placed originally by User:Biruitorul. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 07:29, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Bioregulatory medicine deletion

I would like to ask for your help and opinion about page (Bioregulatory medicine) you recently deleted after discussion. Before being nominated for deletion there was active and constructive ways to reshape the page by multiple editors and text was edited as there was clear path towards consensus. However, one of editor incensed by repeated undo of his comments responded with deletion call, which I think is not the way to handle Wiki articles. However, I am truly saddened by deletion due to denigrating so needed changes in public health, and would be really grateful if you could help and let me know if there is a way you could revert decision to reconstitute the page.

Note: The real problem with Bioregulatory medicine which I tried unsuccessfully to pass to others in discussion during AfD was that SYNTH is misinterpreted with interdisciplinary/system sciences where synthesis is a main scientific platform, particularly when there is medicine that aspire to include empirical and systemic views together. It is therefore a necessity to bring together empirical way of human body as a biochemical machine, together with systemic function based on relations with environment and other functioning physiological systems inter relationships. I can see how it can look like artificial compiling data or manifesto, but it is rather a scientific platform that harness references from both platform. I would be the most grateful for help and guidance, and any way forward if possible; many thanks in advanceBogorodica (talk) 12:05, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

My involvement here is limited to interpreting the AFD discussion and clicking a "delete" button, and I cannot go against what consensus there was there. If you want to take this further you'll have to do it at WP:DRV. I will note that every single argument made by yourself and the people you asked to vote in the AFD boils down to tacitly accepting this concept is not accepted by the mainstream scientific community but it would be really neat if Wikipedia could do you all a favor and accept your article. And that is ultimately the problem - we don't do that. Wikipedia only exposes knowledge that is already established and recognized, using reliable sources to support claims. We don't publish original research or original thought. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:07, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for reply and appreciate explanation. I have not asked anybody to present their view but merely have been presenting my own, and I do not expect any favours but objectivity, rather then deleting page with credible references.

Should it not be pragmatic choice to leave the page and let it be edited and decided by wider public, rather then allow one or two editors in AfD who used all administrative skill by knowing how Wiki works to have it their way, and push your opinion on their side. Is is not exactly why Wikipedia exist to allow wider community rather then few chosen to make decision on majority behalf? The safety measures to protect objectivity need to be implemented, but not to the extreme nor detriment of the main principle. I will take it to WP:DRV, as I am learning how this process works and am very keen to find out intrinsic nature of Wikipedia, or is it just yet another thin layer of those who holds secret grail of knowledge ...who knows, but it will be very interesting to see response by WP:DRV; take care Bogorodica (talk) 18:43, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

I have submitted deletion review as per discussion, but am not sure that it has accepted instruction that can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2014_June_3

Hello, Tony Waag created the page Tony Waag. Tony owns the copyrights to any text on Masters of Tap, which is where there was a copyright infringement found. Mr. Waag submitted this text to them, because he wrote this biography. He has been the Executive/Artistic Director of the American Tap Dance Foundation for 27 years. Please allow this page to be created, as it is original material that Tony owns, and can be used under his name.

Thank you, Tony Waag — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony Waag (talkcontribs) 16:39, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Owning the copyright does not mean you can simply paste it into Wikipedia. It would need to be donated to Commons under a free license, or placed in the public domain. Most people don't do that since it's just easier to paraphrase what the sources say. Regardless of that, please be aware of our conflict of interest guidelines and our username guidelines. You should abandon or rename your account, and use the Articles for Creation service if you want to re-create it (obviously without a copyright violation). §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:37, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Omnimaga

I have never requested the undeletion of a page before, but I am now. You deleted Omnimaga for A7, but I believe that the article failed CSD-A7. Please note that I am not the original author. For instance, Omnimaga is a calculator programming community (this may sound silly, but Omnimaga users code serious programs) that has gotten the attention of Texas Instruments. This is because Omnimaga has helped develop a jailbreak for the TI-Nspire, which has resulted in TI actively updating its models to thwart the exploit. Although I am not very familiar with Omnimaga, it passes the GNG. I noticed today that the page was deleted; was it CSD tagged? Could you please explain your thoughts or restore the page? Thanks Piguy101 (talk) 21:28, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

PS: I believe that the talkpage had a discussion explaining its notability and a contested deletion section, with consensus to keep. Piguy101 (talk) 21:30, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
It was tagged as A7. And not a single piece of information in the article asserted any kind of importance (the threshold for A7), it merely said the website existed and what it was about. As for the talk page, if there was consensus that it should not be deleted then someone should have added some kind of claim to importance, but obviously no one did. If you want to work on it and you feel it meets WP:WEB then I can userify it if you wish. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:51, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt reply. Your points are valid. I guess that I may recreate the article at a later time but indicate its importance. Piguy101 (talk) 22:26, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Wait there! This page, in its most recent form, did explain significance in terms of projects beneficial to the calculator programming community in general. In addition, Cemetech (A very similar site) has an article, not deleted, that was basically the same, except that the Cemetech article was not explaining the significance of Cemetech as a community, but was almost a blatant advertisement for Christopher Mitchell (aka KermMartian). The Omnimaga, though it was still under construction, concentrated on the broader scope of the entire community at Omnimaga. In the Omnimaga article, there were several projects from different members. In the Cemetech article, all of the projects are Christopher Mitchell's.

That's actually not true (and thanks for dragging me into this argument). Many of those projects were created by a group of members (including myself), and almost all the listed ones have been cited widely on sites like Hackaday, Wired, Ars Technica, Engadget, Gizmodo, and so on. I believe that's the different between a page like Cemetech, which largely cites well-known third-party tech news websites, and User:Piguy101/Omnimaga, which largely cites itself. KermMartian (talk) 14:47, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

My point: If you delete an article that encompasses a similar and separate, although broader topic than another article, you should delete the other or not delete either. The Omni article should have stayed, and since it isn't staying, take down the Cemetech article as well. In addition, if you are really looking for importance, Reuben Quest, the most well known and game changing TI-BASIC calculator game of its time, is one of the reasons that TI-BASIC was ever taken seriously in the community in the first place. Axe Parser accounts for more than half of today's projects for the TI-83+ series. Ndless accounts for more than half of today's Ti-Nspire projects.pimathbrainiac (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 06:52, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

pimathbrainiac raises a good point. Cemetech and Omnimaga are very similar communities. The layout for the Cemetech article is similar to what Omnimaga was, and even the content is similar, although slightly larger for Cemetech, as the article has had more time to grow. Maybe userifying would be a good idea, as the article could be submitted when we think it is ready. Although I am unfamiliar with AfC (because I have always agreed with the sysops' decisions about deletion before), it could be a possibility as well. Thanks Piguy101 (talk) 16:53, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
@Piguy101 and Pimathbrainiac: The article has been restored and moved to User:Piguy101/Omnimaga. Remember that thresholds are different: A7 requires an assertion of importance, which is separate and distinct from notable. There was no assertion of importance in the article (thus the speedy), and there is no assertion of notability either (which could land it in AFD at worst). Also, "but X exists" is is not a valid argument against deletion. In any case, I don't doubt that the web site is notable, but you do have to actually prove it by including coverage from secondary sources. Once you're done editing it, let me know and I'll move it back and restore the talk page as well. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:03, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Foodcalc

They seem to be separate now as far as I can tell from their websites, but looking at the history there seems to be some connection, particularly with trademarks. I've commented at the RFD - Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2014_June_11#Foodcalc - could that be mentioned at OTRS if has not been already? Peter James (talk)

@Peter James: I've asked the person who wrote to OTRS to comment on your remarks, as soon as I hear back from them I'll make a note of it in the RFC. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:22, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

I wanted to ask you if you could help me, to remove the speedy deletion from my article and maybe gave me some tips what i can do better or what i have to change, that my article can stay. Thanks in advance, with friendly greetings. --Irukandji85 (talk) 08:22, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

@Irukandji85: It looks like it was copied to the draft namespace, so you can work on it there. Make sure it meets WP:BAND. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:26, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

KDnuggets

Hi,

I just wish to inform you that the KDnuggets page I created was not meant for promotion. There are a number of wikipedia articles mentioning KDnuggets and some reliable sources such as Forbes Magazine, Wall Street Journal have also talked about it. If there is some particular section which you think comes under the category of promotion I am happy to edit/delete it but the page would definitely add value to Wikipedia knowledge resource. Is there some way to restore post and rectify parts to get approved?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anmolrajpurohit (talkcontribs) 00:28, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

@Anmolrajpurohit: I have no opinion about the notability of the subject. It was deleted because it read like an advertisement. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:27, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Web Science Institute

I don't understand why you deleted Web Science Institute. I've never been in this situation before, and wonder where I can now access the thread that was taking place on the entry's talk page.

If you and Qwertyus still think this entry needed deleting for promotional reasons, I disagree. There was nothing promotional about it whatsoever. The couple of sentences describing the Institute's intent were taken from its website and put in quotes and referenced accordingly. The other reference was an article published by the BBC.

Perhaps you think it too light in content? Well then perhaps, but that's because the Institute is very young. Its mission is critical to the success with which society and the Web adapt together, or perhaps even redefine each other, and I know the Institute's work in this regard will be documented here accordingly, by me at least.

Lastly, for the avoidance of doubt, I have a NPOV / no conflict of interest here.

Thanks in advance for your clarification. --Psheld (talk) 09:36, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Writing an "article" about an institute that has never produced any scientific results by only repeating the institute's slogans is effectively promotion of that institute (note: effectively, this is not about intention). Putting the slogans in quotes doesn't really help.
You do seem to have a POV issue, though. "Its mission is critical" etc. is yet more slogan talk that doesn't mean anything to WP unless it comes from a reliable source, and you "knowing" that this institute is going to be important is a matter of WP:CRYSTAL. Perhaps the institute utterly fails in its stated mission, perhaps it changes course and starts studying spider webs because they're much more interesting scientifically. You can't know these things about the future, let alone write WP articles based on presumptions. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 09:49, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Having attempted to champion Wikipedia wherever I can, I'm beginning to appreciate people's disenchantment with editing it. The entry for Kim Kardashian can accrue a dozen edits this month uncontested, but apparently an initiative to better understand one of the most important developments in the history of our species cannot be documented, yet.
I'm particularly confused about whether you're contesting the relevance of the Web Science Institute having a Wikipedia entry, or my first drafting of the edit. Please let me know which one concerns you. BTW, a slogan is a short phrase used in advertising with the intent of being memorable. The only slogans I've developed have been for my own consultancy, although they were more accurately described as market positioning as I've never advertised my services, and none of the deleted entry (from what I can remember – how can I see it now?) could be described as a slogan. If you thought anything too enthusiastic, please do tone down my enthusiasm. But don't delete the article.--Psheld (talk) 14:34, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
@Psheld: Your argument would be more convincing if this wasn't the first paragraph: brings together world-leading multidisciplinary expertise to tackle the most pressing global challenges facing the World Wide Web and wider society today. It is necessarily interdisciplinary, as much about social and organisational behaviour, as about the underpinning technology and this the second: The Web is changing our society, politics and economy, but we don't yet understand how exactly it has wrought change, nor how it will continue to do so. I'm sure it wasn't what you intended when you came up with that analogy, but the Kim Kardashian article doesn't read like a brochure prepared by her PR folks. We give a lot of leeway to schools and institutions, but articles written as a press release don't fall under that. Moving on past that (which is easily fixable), you should consider that topics must meet the notability guidelines. Given that this institute was just established, it's likely that it has not garnered enough significant coverage in reliable secondary sources, although I might be wrong. In any case, if you had followed our conflict of interest guidelines and submitted your articles via Articles for Creation, it would have been rejected by the reviewers for reading as an advertisement, lacking sources and a clear assertion of notability (which by the way is not inherited), which would have given you the chance to fix and re-submit without the admittedly annoying experience of having it be flat out deleted. User:Qwertyus tagging of the article was appropriate, as was the deletion. You are welcome to re-create it following our procedures for COI editors. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 15:43, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Nevermind about the COI, since you claim not to have one. AFC is still probably a good choice. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:40, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm afraid I have little recall now as to the exact content in the article. You seem to be quoting from it here so it must still be viewable some how? How? I will then review the way I presented the information and consider using AFC. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psheld (talkcontribs) 15:38, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Comment refactor

Regarding this. Sorry, but per WP:FORUM and WP:NPA I can remove comments not intended to improve the article. Both comments left, which you erroneously restored, attacked editors. Please reconsider your terrible decision to revert. -- Scjessey (talk) 21:53, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

If you're invoking WP:NPA then you should report them to WP:ANI. If we're talking WP:NOTAFORUM then you should have removed that entire thread. Nothing you removed is any better or worse than the rest of what is there. If there is a pattern of disruptive behavior or whatever then seek resolution. Deleting their contributions (however much you might dislike them) is not the way to go. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:56, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I find it hard to see how you could possibly have read the comments I removed. They were clear personal attacks, one of which was in a thread 11 months old. Maybe I didn't follow the correct procedure (as you perceive it), but restoring those comments is absolutely ridiculous. There's even a template for the notification of the removal of personal attacks, per WP:NPA. -- Scjessey (talk) 22:00, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Scjessey's claims that the left is more open-minded are indeed amusing. The left is certainly not more objective when it comes to discussing political matters and Giving CNN as an example of the mainstream media and advising people to read the reports of MMfA to tell if a source is reliable; that tells me all I want to know about your bias are not personal attacks, and no better or worse than the rest of the discussion on that talk page (where everyone seems to have forgotten WP:AGF). There is no policy or guideline whatsoever under which you could possibly claim the right to remove them. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:50, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
I opened a discussion up at WP:ANI about this issue, and it seems not everyone agrees with your interpretation. -- Scjessey (talk) 13:17, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

List of photo-sharing websites

Hi FreeRangeFrog,

I do understand Wikipedia's neutral policy, and think it's a good one. I was probably kind of ticked off when I wrote whatever I did (I believe it had to do with the amount of time before photos are deleted or maybe it was about automatic conversion to JPEG format). I probably wrote it with an inappropriate tone, but I think both things are crucial information for a page like this.

Thanks,

As in most "controversies" surrounding article topics, you must provide substantial secondary sourcing, and yes, maintain neutrality. Also, that information is offtopic at best on that list - if anything it would belong in the article about the service. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:56, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Dark complected man AFD close

Hi, I'm sorry that I did not see or comment on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dark_Complected_Man. Contrary to comments at the AFD, plenty of sources use the phrase related to the JFK assassination. Would you be interested in re-opening the AFD? Thanks! — goethean 14:24, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

@Goethean: The AFD ran for the prescribed seven days and there was consensus to delete. As this is essentially a fringe article, I would ask you to list it at WP:DRV to seek consensus for its restoration or the re-opening of the AFD instead. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:05, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Mishimoto

Free Range Frog,

The company I work for, Mishimoto, is currently trying to update its Wikipedia page and we were deleted because of A7. No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events) and G11. Unambiguous advertising or promotion. Is there anyway you can give us more information about what criteria we are missing, whether it be sourcing or that the article was not written in an encyclopedic tone. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 173.49.223.212 (talk) 14:18, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Please read WP:CORPN, WP:GNG and WP:COI. Origamite\(·_·\)(/·_·)/ 14:20, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
I quote from the deleted article: From concept through completion, every aspect of the product, even the packaging, is designed, tested, and reviewed to make sure it meets the Mishimoto Standard of Excellence. The company’s meticulous process and attention to detail ensure that you receive an exceptional product that arrives in a timely manner. To enhance the customer’s experience, Mishimoto’s online and mobile websites offer user-friendly, specialized search tools to help customers find what you need quickly and easily. Mishimoto’s unparalleled Marketing team focuses on brand awareness and attends trade shows and track events. This kind of sale-brochure/press release material is unacceptable. Further, the article made no assertion of importance whatsoever. Wikipedia is not the yellow pages. Please review the A7 and G11 criteria of WP:CSD. With all that said, you have a conflict of interest and should not be either editing nor re-creating the article. If you feel the company meets the notability guidelines for inclusion, please submit a new draft to Articles for Creation. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:06, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

TechnoBuffalo

So why'd you delete the article? It wasn't hurting you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mardaeus28 (talkcontribs) 15:33, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

So why'd you delete the article. TehcnoBuffalo Is huge an deserves an appropriate article. You seem to be on a power streak. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mardaeus28 (talkcontribs) 15:36, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) (I'm answering this and the one above it.) It doesn't matter how huge the company is; if it has no good references that show notability, we can't keep it. Please read the general notability guideline. Aidan O'Keeffe was deleted according to procedure; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aidan O'Keeffe. It is hurting the encyclopedia if it's not notable, since it lessens our reputation if it's wrong, and notability depends partially on reliable sources. TechnoBuffalo's been deleted 5 times, so maybe you should reevaluate your defense. This is not a power trip, it's what FreeRangeFrog's job is. Any more questions? Origamite\(·_·\)(/·_·)/ 16:00, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
@Mardaeus28: Topics must make a minimal assertion of importance and meet the notability guidelines for inclusion. "It's not hurting anyone" is not a valid argument or a reason we keep stuff around. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:11, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Swiss Company for Underwater Breathing and Activities (S.C.U.B.A. AG)

Dear FreeRangeFrog, it was brought to my attention that the page for Swiss Company for Underwater Breathing and Activities (S.C.U.B.A. AG) was deleted. I feel I must object to that. American organisations offering the exact same services as S.C.U.B.A. do each have their own page. As far as external linking is concerned, the links from S.C.U.B.A. AG have a far higher percentage of external entities than the others do.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Association_of_Diving_Instructors https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scuba_Schools_International Etc. - find links to the others at the bottom of each of these two pages.

I do understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not meant for advertising. I do not understand why American companies are allowed to maintain pages that cover the same content with the same type of reference, while a Swiss company is not allowed. If the decision to delete the S.C.U.B.A. page is justified, then I fail to see justification in allowing the pages of similar companies.

I am hoping on your kind consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScubaJan (talkcontribs) 12:05, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Please see this and this. More importantly, this, which will give you the information you need to re-create the article if the subject meets the notability guidelines for inclusion. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:08, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. I am not the author of this page, nor am I the person to re-create it (as I am probably the person with the highest level of "conflict of interest"). The arguments you provide for deleting may be right (that is not for me to debate). If they are the right answers, then they are answering the wrong question. The correct question would be: are diver training organisations notable enough for entry in WP. If yes, all should be in, if no, none should be in. It is not the place of an editor, or WP in general, to declare one organisation notable and the other not. The deletion of this page, without taking a closer look at all organisations listed on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Underwater_diving_training_organizations, gives the impression that it is you who has a conflict of interest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ScubaJan (talkcontribs) 13:42, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Anything considered an "eligible topic" is appropriate for Wikipedia, it just has to meet the notability guidelines. "There are other articles so mine should stay" is not a valid argument, as explained by the OTHERSTUFFEXISTS link I provided above. And yes, it is very much the place of editors to determine if something merits inclusion. You seem to be confused as to how Wikipedia works - we not a business directory. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:07, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of "Spider_Project_(software)"

Dear FreeRangeFrog,

you have deleted my article "Spider_Project_(software)" with the statement "Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://ipma.ch/assets/re-perspectives_2013.pdf". I am still learning Wikipedia and I would like to get some help from you here. I must say, that this Unambiguous Copyright Infringement is a bit of surprise for me, since frankly speaking I even did not read this article, when I was creating Spider Project page (so I don't understand, how I can infringed its copyrite). I have put reference it this document to confirm the statement, that Spider Project Team participate in IPMA conferences. Any way I have read the paper now and still don't understand what I have infringed. Your help on how to move forward will be very much appreciated. This is needless to say, that I would like this article to be restored, as there was a lot of hard work in it and with recent changes I think I have really significantly improved it to match Wikipedia requirements. So, this deletion came as a surprise as this must have been a really serious reason to delete the article without even given me a slightest chance to correct it (when article was marked for deletion I contested it on the talk page, but got no feedback).

Ev2geny (talk) 21:32, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

@Ev2geny: I understand. I hesitated to respond to the deletion tag but copyright infringement is not something we take lightly around here, and there were at least three sources from which you (or someone else) appears to have simply copied and pasted material. The alternative to that would have been a copyright investigation which for all practical purposes would have had the same result (making the article unavailable). Please give me a few days to look closely at the material the article was supposedly infringing and I will let you know if we can restore it and how. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:36, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
@FreeRangeFrog: thanks you for your feedback. Looking forward to hearing from you. Ev2geny (talk) 08:48, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
@FreeRangeFrog: Thanks for contacting me on my talk page regarding this issue. I have done investigation and I believe I have a good answers on what may have been considered to be a copyright violation. In short, I found no evidence, that there were violations, all long text string marches are related to References section of my article and represent the names of the used references. More details are in my talk page. Ev2geny (talk) 10:55, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Jamie Cashion deleted

Good day. I had made some edits to a page for martial arts master Jamie Cashion. I just noticed that the page has been deleted for reason of promotion or advertising. I don't remember specifically any advertising in the article and the supporting citations show that for years Mr. Cashion has given martial arts lessons for free, he is heavily involved in charity work, and it does not appear that he sells anything. If you could please give your thoughts on how this article could be repaired and brought up to standards. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dataslurp (talkcontribs) 14:36, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

@Dataslurp: You misunderstand what WP:CSD#G11 means: Pages that are exclusively promotional, and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic. This article was written in such a way, unfortunately. It was also created by a now-banned user who admitted to being a paid PR person. And as the extent of your edits to Wikipedia are limited to editing that article and my talk page, I must assume you are either related to the subject or to the blocked creator, which makes it unlikely that the material will be restored. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:02, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

The Lipscomb article

Just FYI. --NeilN talk to me 17:48, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I really don't care about Melissa Rauch, but

I have no idea how I got roped into this discussion about her husband's name. I should know better, but since I'm in:

After a few years of stand-up comedy, plus pop culture talking-head work on VH1’s “Best Week Ever,” Rauch and her longtime writing partner — her then-boyfriend, now-husband Winston Beigel, whom she met and began collaborating with in college...

Rauch and her husband, Winston Beigel, wrote the comedy, said Steve Campanella of Belltower Productions, a Cleveland-based production company working with Precious Metals, the major company behind “The Bronze.”

It seems to me that if you're going to assert that Winston Biegel changed his name, which is unusual, it will take more than just the name "Winston Rauch" to convince people. I can't find a single reference which indicates that he changed his name, either professionally, such as through a union or guild, or legally, by going to court, obtaining permission, and having the change advertised.

If you haven't already done so, you might also want to take a look at the talk page for the Melissa Rauch article, where the name of her husband has been a topic of recent discussion.

Billmckern (talk) 17:58, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

@Billmckern: Just out of sheer curiosity, what would you consider acceptable evidence of the name change? For her to announce it publicly, which would be rather silly? Or would you like some legal documents? And if you do, would you take my word for them if they're sent to OTRS? Or would you require for them to be publicly available? Perhaps more importantly, why is it so important what the husband's last name is? I mean, other than to him, obviously. I'm just trying to understand why it's so difficult to see sources from 2014 that call him Winston Rauch rather than Beigel and somehow not think "hmm, maybe he did legally change his name to Rauch". Can you explain please, before I take this further? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:27, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
@SummerPhD: Might also be interested in this given their comments on the talk page. I suppose that's where this should be discussed, but whatever. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:41, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
It's just one man's opinion, but I have to think that a reference such as a newspaper which contains a different name, but no explanation for the change isn't really reliable, especially for two people who are notable. Because performers and writers for stage, film and TV have their work tracked and credited by their names, I'd think that changing the name, especially in an unusual instance like a husband appearing to have his wife's last name, ought to be explicitly noted somewhere.
But like I said, that's just one man's opinion. I'm disinclined to be pulled further and further into this briar patch. I'm not going to engage on this topic any more.
Billmckern (talk) 20:56, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
OK. But then why would he go to the trouble of writing to OTRS about it? And I agree it's not common, and he did note that in his email of course. But if there are sources from this year that use the "new" name then it's hardly a leap of faith to assume that the man changed his name. The point is not that it used to be Beigel, but that it not longer is. If we have recent sources that reflect that then we should reflect it too. On the other hand I have no idea how to make a note of that (née??) or if we should at all. But I do agree it's not something that happens often. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:02, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I can't help but wonder how anyone will verify this in a few years. Noting an OTRS in an edit summary and giving a sigh as an edit summary are all just fine for communicating with an editor or two at one particular moment in time. One says, "Hey, I have a source that in some unknown way explains why this documented info is wrong." They other says, "Geeze, what more do you want. I'm changing it back without explaining." As for the article itself, we have two Ohio newspapers agreeing and . . . I guess we're assuming that no one will ever bother to check anything, find a different answer and change it to match other plainly reliable sources. At the very lease, I'd think something one the article's talk page would be helpful. - SummerPhD (talk) 21:13, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

I think my initial edit summary was sufficiently clear, and verification comes from the sources I used, not from OTRS. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:52, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
At the moment, the talk page give no indication that these Ohio newspapers are correct and the other sources (New York Post, TV Guide, broadwayworld.com, the Associated Press, Getty Images, funnyordie.com, amazon.com and Maxim (quoting Melissa Rauch directly)) are out-of-date or otherwise wrong.
As your edit summary is less prominent that the talk page (and becoming more so as time passes), I would suggest that clarification on the talk page would be a reasonable idea. - SummerPhD (talk) 19:06, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
Fair enough. I added an OTRS tag to the talk page. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:55, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

A belated Thank You!

Hi FreeRangeFrog. I was about to do some archiving of my talk page and discovered your barnstar for Robert Bonfiglio, which had got lost in the melee. Thank you so much! You're very kind. All the best, Voceditenore (talk) 10:22, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

@Voceditenore: No worries, it was my pleasure! §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:52, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Hiperkarma

Dear FreeRangeFrog! Why you delete the hiperkarma article? I think its meet the notability requiments, the enwiki also have an article about Róbert Bérczesi created by me, and other similar bands, like Quimby (band) or Kispál és a borz. --Bajnoczki (talk) 20:20, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

I've moved it here: User:Bajnoczki/Hiperkarma. Please work on it and make sure it meets the notability guidelines before re-creating it as an article (sources in languages other than English are OK). And please remember that "other stuff exists" is never a valid argument. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:02, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Why was my page deleted

Recently I created a page about Rhythmlink International and it was deleted due to section A7. I want to know why and what I could change or alter to have this page viewable. Rhythmlink International is a company that is at the forefront of electroencephalography and Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring devices. Rhythmlink's devices save lives and gather information critical to brain and nerve readings. The company and its products need to have a wiki page. If Medtronic has a page then so should Rhythmlink. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rhythm1140 (talkcontribs) 14:05, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

I assume you have a conflict of interest, so you should be creating that article via Articles for Creation. Broadly, the subject must meet the notability guidelines, and minimally assert at least some importance beyond merely existing, which wasn't the case here and was the reason why it was deleted in the first place. Wikipedia is not a business directory. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:47, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Financial Markets International

Hey so I'm new to wikipedia and that page was just for practice because it is a company I know well but my question is if it was only in my sandbox (which I thought was private...) why did you delete it?/will you delete every page I start for practice? Because clearly it was not finished and clearly I'm gonna practice writing about topics/people I know a lot about and which don't have pages...

Alec6134 (talk) 15:12, 26 June 2014 (UTC)Alec6134

There are speedy deletion criteria that don't apply to sandboxes and drafts ("test page" for example), but attack pages, copyright violations and spam (G11) do apply. I agreed with the tagger that your draft was hopelessly promotional. If you're experimenting, that's fine. Just don't create ads for companies. And remember that nothing is "private" around here. Every edit and action you take is publicly logged. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:44, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Okay thank you for the advice but hopelessly promotional is an extreme stretch. There was almost no voice in what I wrote and everything was cited. I was following the template of other pages on consulting firms such as Deloitte and PWC, which if anything have a much greater tone of voice than the page I was creating. I wasn't promoting FMI I just wasn't finished with the article. I was treating it as any major company is treated on wikipedia. Alec6134 (talk) 13:32, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Alec6134

It doesn't have to be in a particular voice, just be needlessly buzzword-y. It was only one paragraph, yet: specializes in growing and stabilizing emerging market countries by developing new markets and institutions and provides a wide range of additional services, including strategic analysis, risk management, training, and corporate communications. Ask yourself if that can be seen by an uninvolved editor reviewing articles as being appropriately neutral and encyclopedic. Unfortunately all we see is spam. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 16:27, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Lil Ugly Mane

I would appreciate it if my page on Lil Ugly Mane could be userfied to which I can add onto it referring to the meeted the criteria below,

"Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself."

Lil Ugly Mane has been interviewed and discussed about by several music journalists in the past, https://mishkanyc.com/bloglin/2012/04/05/morose-lugubrious-a-bloglin-interview-w-lil-ugly-mane http://music.thetalkhouse.com/talks/mish-way-talks-lil-ugly-manes-on-doing-an-evil-deed-blues/ http://www.imposemagazine.com/reviews/mista-thug-isolation--lil-ugly-mane

"Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are notable)."

Lil Ugly Mane has released MISTA THUG ISOLATION on tape under the indie label Ormolycka (est. 2007), http://www.discogs.com/Lil-Ugly-Mane-Mista-Thug-Isolation/release/3742766 ..and a remastered version on vinyl LP under Hundebiss (est. 2007), http://www.discogs.com/Lil-Ugly-Mane-Mista-Thug-Isolation/release/4124721

(double post)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Celestaphone (talkcontribs) 03:18, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

@Celestaphone: I don't think those blogs rise up to what we call significant coverage, and when we talk of releases under labels, we mean labels that we consider notable. That's not the case here as far as I can see. You're free to make this argument at WP:REFUND and see if someone agrees with you, I honestly don't. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 03:29, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
@FreeRangeFrog: If this doesn't match up to what's accepted, then I would like clarification to why this page still remains - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yung_Lean , Yung Lean's only associated label is of his own which has only existed for around two years now - on top of that the coverage referenced for Yung Lean aren't any more significant than the ones I've mentioned for Lil Ugly Mane. §Celestaphonecroak
I don't know. We're talking about your article, not that one. Although I'd wager it's this bit: XXL magazine included him in their 2014 list of "15 European Rappers You Should Know". In any case, if you think Yung Lean doesn't meet WP:MUSICBIO you can always nominate the article for deletion. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 03:52, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Mogens Schou Award entry question

Hi FreeRangeFrog,

I received a note that you had deleted our entry (Mogens Schou Award) based on copyright infringement. We used the information from our website so that the information is consistent across media. Since our entry was deleted does this mean that an organization can't use their own website as a source in an article? We sited the website, so I thought that was satisfactory. Please advise.

Thanks, ISBD01ISBD01 (talk) 15:40, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Please read WP:COPYPASTE. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 16:17, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

I've suggested here that a BLP page be nominated for deletion, per GNG, ONEEVENT and BLPREQUESTDELETE. However, I did not nominate it myself on account of a COI. I saw that you were fairly active on BLPN and thought you might take a look. She seems to have only gotten minor coverage in relation to a poorly-worded comment on Fox News that was construed as anti-gay. CorporateM (Talk) 22:26, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

@CorporateM: You cite WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE (which would make sense) but did the subject write to OTRS to do so, or is that the source of your COI in this case? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:40, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Yes, the subject of the article has asked me to get it deleted for her if appropriate. I can ask her to verify somehow if you like. CorporateM (Talk) 22:48, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
@CorporateM: Yes, please ask her to contact OTRS (info-en-q at wikimedia.org). It's easier to do these things if we have a communication from the article subject. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:02, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Done She just sent the email to OTRS with CC to me. CorporateM (Talk) 01:43, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
@CorporateM: Check your email. Gonna need a more formal rationale to use at the AFD beyond what is at the article's talk page. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 03:04, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
You mean directly from her or from me? CorporateM (Talk) 03:10, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, I've been doing Wikipedia work for 12 hours today (mix of my volunteer and COI projects) and my brain is fried. I think you meant that you wanted me to provide the exact proposed deletion rationale for the AFD nom?

"This BLP is not the subject of multiple, in-depth reliable sources. The only source material available is regarding a WP:ONEVENT about a comment made on Fox News and the event does not elevate to the point of being of significant public interest. The article serves very little value to Wikipedia and its readers, but immense opportunity to harm a non-notable BLP, who has requested deletion per WP:BLPREQUESTDELETE."

CorporateM (Talk) 03:39, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

@CorporateM: Yes, that was it, thank you. I've nominated the article for deletion. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:19, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm glad she found me, because somebody else told her that the proper thing to do in this case was to flood the article with positive information to drown out the controversies, which rely heavily on op-eds anyway. I often wonder in cases like that if bad advice is given on purpose in order to justify what some paid editing firm wants to charge, when in the majority of cases all a person or company needs is some advice (and often that advice is to leave Wikipedia alone or delete the article). Anyways, I'm always looking for help on pages where I have a COI and am participating cautiously, so if you're ever looking for a new article to get involved in, let me know. In the meanwhile, I like BLPN and I think I'm going to be a regular there in my volunteer work. Much less of a drama board than some of the others. CorporateM (Talk) 20:26, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
I doubt it because a PR firm would probably know that such edits get nuked fairly quickly. BLP is a rewarding area, but it is tiresome at times, we need all the help we can get :) And BTW, if you ever need assistance again with COI issues don't hesitate to reach out. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 07:50, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Roovet Wrongfully Deleted

You deleted Roovet but did not explain why A7 you say but if that was the case then you should delete all of the meta search engines listed --Thewolf12 (talk) 06:44, 29 June 2014 (UTC) I worked very hard on that article for you to delete it and not give a reason why--Thewolf12 (talk) 06:47, 29 June 2014 (UTC) you just deleted my article not that long ago I will like an answer back

After four deletions and one declined draft one would think that you'd understand what A7 means: An article about a real person, individual animal(s), organization, web content or organized event that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. You insist on creating an article that claims your website exists, but not why it is important and thus merits inclusion in Wikipedia. And beyond that, you need to prove that it is notable as well. In any case, please stick to your AFC submission. You probably have a conflict of interest and shouldn't be creating the article yourself. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 07:47, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

I never said it was my website because its not , and yet it was stated very clearly why it was important I know what A7 means you should not be an admin because your not reading anything your just deleting and yet you leave many other article that should really be deleted for A7. you still did not answer my question because you can not it seems ,It seems as if an admin wrote this same article you or anyone else will not even look twece at it.Is that right please list a article that you wrote so I can ref. it myself--Thewolf12 (talk) 08:07, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

(talk page stalker): The deletion and locking down to prevent further re-creations of this article are entirely appropriate. The onus is on you to read and understand our policies and I will also ask you to refrain from making personal attacks at admins (or any other users for that matter). If you would like a second admin opinion you are welcome to take the issue up with me. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:35, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Botmigfig blocked

Just trying to understand and learn: why is botmigfig blocked? Waxmanchecks (talk) 22:37, 29 June 2014 (UTC) waxmanchecks

  • (talk page stalker) We don't allow user names that have the phrase "bot" in them, except for actual "bots" (short for robot) that are special programs that do maintenance around here. These bots have their own accounts, such as User:Cluebot III, which is actually a very smart script that can detect and revert vandalism to articles. There are many other bots around here, they are a huge part of running the place as they do tasks would be be too tedious for humans to do by hand. Allowing users to have accounts with "bot" in them would confuse other editors, who would think you are one of these programs. Blocking isn't personal, it is just required so you can pick a different name. Dennis Brown |  | WER 22:45, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
@Waxmanchecks: What Dennis said. I understand you weren't aware of the policy, but it is a policy and we have to make sure it is enforced. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:26, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Related topic Question from an observer: removed some content on the basis of "not a reliable source." However the source "The Wrap" has its own Wikipedia articlle, and the cited story is written by former NY Times journalist. The Wikipedia article cites and retains a competitive news media site ( Deadline Hollywood )., but removed content froma The Wrap. I'm seeking to understand how we Wiki editors can conclude that one news media organization is more or less reliable than another. Both cited articles, like almost all news media articles, rely upon unnamed sources quoted by journalists, but you call one news media outlet unreliable and deleted the citation? I'd like to understand better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.25.230.213 (talk) 14:49, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what article or edit you're talking about. Can you be more specific? I can tell you that if this was a BLP-related thing, we have higher standards for both content and sourcing. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:39, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

Funky Skull

I see you that removed the Speedy tag on Funky Skull, because you found a page for the musician Melvin Jackson. I appreciate you putting that effort in. However, I had checked that page before placing the speedy, and it's pretty clearly a different musician - same era, but different instrument, different genre, and different recording history. As such, I've restored the Speedy tag. --Nat Gertler (talk) 03:05, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

@NatGertler: Fair enough, thanks for the heads up. You might want to make a note of that in the talk page for the reviewing admin. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 03:08, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Elite project

Hi! I am writing because of the Elite project page having been deleted. Elite project has been an European research project funded by FP7 program, the main European public research program. It has been developed during 18 months by 9 partners from 7 European countries. I have seen several wiki pages about analogous research projects funded under the same call. So I can imagine the topic is relevant, but I should improve the writing style. I would be very grateful if you could provide some tips and advices about how to do it. And also if you could explain which were the reasons to remove this page. Thanks for your support. Best regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmsarriegi (talkcontribs) 13:35, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

@Jmsarriegi: I have no idea about the notability of the subject, although I do see a couple of FP7 programs on here. The issue was that the article was written in a extremely promotional tone. The best advice I can give you is that if what you're doing reads like a brochure for the subject, you need to re-write it in a more neutral way. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:00, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Shabazz sallier. Deleted as marked (by another editor) because it did not make a credible claim of importance and was written in an inappropriate promotional tone. Quote: Video guy from Seattle WA who is bringing Young back to everyone all over the world ya if you want to feel young again share this awesome new website called foreverseventeen.com that's been seen by over 600 million people all over the world and have fun on it with all its cool stuff =) That was just the first paragraph. Break 02

Dear Wiki Administrator,

I am inquiring about an article for creation draft that I was working on in June. I am writing about a company, Interactive Health Technologies, that is notable and deserves a Wikipedia page. You commented on the lack of notability, and so in my second draft, I referenced and cited a few unbiased articles. I can certainly post more, from legitimate and notable sources. After that edit, my article got deleted. I just need to know what to fix so that this article can be published. Please get back to me at your earliest convenience, thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Ddefoyd — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddefoyd (talkcontribs) 14:43, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

@Ddefoyd: I think you're mistaking me for the editor that initially reviewed your submission. The draft was deleted not because of notability issues (obviously it is a draft) but because of a copyright violation, where you pasted the contents of a website. You're free to re-create the draft, just don't do that again. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 16:21, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

Move request

Hi, so I've plagiarized [sic] (edit:removed plagiarism from) and cited Madison lintz and I think it's passable now. Can you move to Madison Lintz now, thanks.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 20:47, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

@Prisencolinensinainciusol: Looks like it's been deleted as G4. Probably no changes in notability since last time? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:57, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
I believe that the page followed WP:NACTOR the whole time, not really sure why it was deleted based on WP:BIO at all.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 23:00, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
If the extent of the material available for the subject is what you had in that last deleted version then I'd have to disagree it meets WP:NACTOR. Maybe it's just too soon, she's just a kid. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:03, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
I was in the process of pulling up more sources when the page got deleted. Also, the Spanish language wikipedia has a corresponding page: es:Madison Lintz, but I don't know if the same notability guidelines are used there.--Prisencolinensinainciusol (talk) 01:27, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
As a more experienced editor you know we have a short fuse when it comes to both copyvios and reposting of articles deleted at AFD. You should have started with a draft, which is what I'd recommend you do, and run it through AFC maybe so someone else can determine if the subject meets NACTOR or at least GNG (which is quite possible). But definitely do a draft. The title is protected in any case, so you'll have to go through someone at some point. Might as well have a decent article rather than just a stub. As to the es.wiki notability guidelines, I can tell you they're a lot more lenient than us. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:37, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Request for help with spam on Spyro (series)

Hello, I was wondering if you could please help me stop the spammer on the Spyro (series) page. I am completely lost as to what to do at this point. Despite failing to gather a consensus in favor of the link and having no compelling arguments in favor of it on the talk page, this user (User:75.70.218.39 and sockpuppet, [[User:2600:100E:B01E:286B:9433:57B5:28CF:8916]) is still reverting edits to remove it from the page and is ignoring the warnings I put on his talk page. I have gotten a second opinion in favor of removing this link here. Can the protection on the page be increased, the user blocked, and/or the link blacklisted? The link has been getting added by the same user repeatedly for years. Thank you, and sorry if I have done anything wrong here in the process of trying to remove this spam. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sfstormy (talkcontribs) 04:17, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Well, blocking is preventive, not a punishment, and from our point of view there's not enough disruption to merit a block. I doubt that the "meme" could have originated here. Probably an image macro on Reddit or something like that. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:07, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Allow reversion for eSys Group

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Hi FreeRangeFrog, request that you allow reversion of the eSys Group page to the my last edit which includes the fact the company is no longer operational. The current revision had been tagged to be written like an advert, outdated and poorly sourced by a third-party. Drmwahaha (talk) 05:30, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

Your edits removed tags and other elements of the article that should stay there. You are free to edit and add information, just make sure you cite your sources and maintain neutrality. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:09, 4 July 2014 (UTC)

You had reverted to a revision written by a user who wanted the article deleted. This revision had been tagged as an advert and cited only one source, which is a marketing promo. Neutrality in this case should state the company is no longer operational and the events leading up to that point as reported in the news and court releases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmwahaha (talkcontribs) 10:03, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

This is inappropriate, because it is overly hostile and non-neutral. If the information about the company has changed that's fine, you can edit the article and make a note of that. Attempting to badmouth and ridicule the subject is not fine. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:47, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Could you point out the "hostile and non-neutral" part so I can change it? I believe I'm being neutral as my edits were based on the latest available news and court reports. I did not pass any opinion on the subject. If I wanted to be hostile, I would have repeated some of the judgement by the courts that contained harsh language. Instead, the current revision cites one outdated marketing promo that is favorable to the subject and gave no further details of the current state of the subject. Drmwahaha (talk) 03:33, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Look, I'm not going to go into why the repeated insertion of "alleged" and "allegedly" introduces an obvious negative bias into the article, or why flat out removing the infobox is not anyone's idea of improving an article. If you have information relevant to the article, please review the citation guide and add it, in a neutral way, with proper citations rather than external links as you did. The onus is on you to do things correctly. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:22, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

"Alleged" and "allegedly" are only as negative as "accused", "suspected" and "purported". I believe the news media even use "accused", "suspected" and "purported" to maintain neutrality as opposed to words like "guilty", "fraudulent". The infobox was added by another editor in response to the article being changed by yet another user to become favorable to the subject and then tagged for deletion. I'd removed the infobox as the tags do not apply to my revision.[1][2]These links are amongst some that where claims were made for manufacturing facilities around the world and the lists don't match up. If you 5 mins to spare, you could just web search for some of the events that should have happened since the reports, or lack thereof. "Alleged" would be the neutral word to use as the existence, or not, of these facilities could not be proven nor disproved. Additionally, the list of facilities was inherited from an earlier version of the article, possibly written by eSys personnel themselves. On another note, here are some recent articles, which I suspect could be part of a related promotion campaign the Wikipedia article got dragged into[3][4]. Regarding citation, I'd summarized the news and court reports in a neutral way, avoiding phrases like "found guilty" and "accounting fraud". Actually citing the reports will in fact be less neutral. Drmwahaha (talk) 04:25, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

I think we have a disconnect here. I am not questioning the information you are attempting to add to the article. I didn't even get there. The problem here is that your edits are non-neutral and destructive. I'm not sure how many different ways I can say that before you understand. I am seriously done with this - if you need a second opinion you're welcome to ask for advice here. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:41, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

I don't believe the current nor my revision was tagged as non-neutral so the NPOV/N could not be used, if I read the rules correctly. Since you are done with this, I'll revert to my revision and add a POV tag. This should be the best course of action seeing my revision have updated info and the contention here is the use of the word "alleged", which I maintain is appropriate for claims made by the subject in press releases and could not be verified nor proven false yet. Furthermore, the current revision have been tagged with issues my revision should resolve. Once tagged, the NPOV/N can be used for future discussions. Drmwahaha (talk) 10:32, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

I would like to point out Pranab.bann again requested the page to be deleted and had created one other favorably biased article for eSys-related personnel. It is this user's revision you maintain in keeping, even though it had been tagged with multiple issues. Would it be possible to get another administrator to review the situation? My best understanding of your contention is my edits are non-neutral due to the use of words like "alleged". This is, however, also the language used in external material sourced. If the word appears to occur too many times, it is due to the nature of the subject being subjected to much litigation and made many claims. I contest my edits are destructive as they add information rather than remove. 121.6.163.213 (talk) 23:17, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

@HubertusJacob: Your edit Notable pioneer women in the field of lipedema Tilly Smidt, etc. requires that you provide secondary reliable sources that prove the person and their website is somehow notable or important in the context of the subject. This article has seen a large amount of similar claims and addition of websites and names that border on spam, so please follow our sourcing guidelines before adding that information again. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:42, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi FreeRangeFrog, the date of her birth was based on this website. It is a primary source, but it isn't sourcing negative or controversial information (all the secondary sources I have read that list her age have it as 27). What do you thing? Cheers. I am One of Many (talk) 20:37, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

@I am One of Many: The subject (or someone associated with her) wrote to OTRS asking for the date to be removed (aside from other things, but that's another story). I didn't see that in the article, which is why I removed it. Has there been any controversy or discussion in the past around the birth date? That source seems kinda iffy to me, but if there is consensus that it is valid (even if it is a primary) then I have no problem with keeping the DOB in the article. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:43, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
If someone wrote in who was close to her, I prefer to respect her wishes. So, knowing that, I'm happy leaving it out. Regarding, other things. There were several IPs that were removing some sourced content without explanation, about a week ago, that I considered uncontroversial content since she has repeated it in several published interviews. The IPs traced to Texas, but all current sources I have read have her living in L.A., so I figured that they were not acting on her behalf. Anyway, I think some personal details are ok to leave out if the subject of a BLP doesn't want them in (unless they are critical to the notability of the article). Thanks for letting me know. I am One of Many (talk) 21:04, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
@I am One of Many: Thanks. There's always privacy and courtesy if the DOB is not particularly important to the bio. As to the other things, the rest of the material they requested be removed from the article along with the DOB was non-controversial, not privacy-sensitive and perfectly well sourced to interviews with the subject herself, so I declined. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:14, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

article translation

Hello,

I used to create an article of ATEN International Co., Ltd but was deleted by you. I am sorry that there could be no indication of how this might meet notability guidelines or lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources in the article I edited.

There is an article for this company in Traditional Chinese wiki at https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%AE%8F%E6%AD%A3%E8%87%AA%E5%8B%95%E7%A7%91%E6%8A%80. I just wonder if it would be OK for me to translate it from Traditional Chinese to English ?

Regards,

--Chrisclock (talk) 03:49, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

@Chrisclock: Sure, just make sure to read WP:Translation and also ensure that the subject meets the notability guidelines before embarking on that effort. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:39, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

Kleargear and BLP

Hello FreeRangeFrog. Could you explain why you removed an entire section from Talk:Kleargear? Your edit summary cites WP:BLP, but I don't understand what specifically about that policy applies to the discussion you removed. How is it a violation of BLP to have discussed whether a certain individual had an important association with the company? He was, in fact, shown to be the president of the company, and even if he didn't preside over any particularly important period in the company's history, I don't see why a discussion about the very existence of his tenure should be erased. Incidentally, the rest of your edit summary is false, or at least unsupported by the reference you gave; the source says absolutely nothing about the individual leaving the company. Psychonaut (talk) 05:54, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

@Psychonaut: Because the person contacted OTRS requesting that we remove his name from the talk page, given the legal issues surrounding the company. I examined the supposed "proof" given in the section that Bermender is associated with them, and every single one of those dates from before 2007, which correlates with the press release I linked to. Speculation about living persons in this context is unwarranted, even the mere mention of their name can be injurious. If you can find a reliable source that ties Bermender to KlearGear after 2007 then heck, we don't even need to be having this conversation. His name would be in the infobox, as that annoying IP with the ridiculous blog insisted. BLP applies everywhere. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:37, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
I'm understand that BLP applies everywhere, not just in article space, but I disagree that the conversation on the talk page was in any way injurious. The entire discussion was a purely neutral and factual exercise in determining whether the individual had a "key role" in the company. The reliable sources presented confirmed that he was the president of the company, and that this was a very public role. There was absolutely no "speculation", nor were any negative claims, sourced or unsourced, made about the man. (If anything, the fact that he was found to lead the company long before its legal troubles exonerates rather than harms him.) I have no objection with the decision to remove him from the article's infobox, but I still consider the removal of the talk page conversation about his role to be a misapplication of WP:BLP, and would ask you to revert your changes. Psychonaut (talk) 15:23, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
@Psychonaut: I will not revert, sorry. In fact I just removed another section. If you feel that the person's name must remain in the article's talk page, please open a case at WP:ANI, as I consider this to be under BLP-related discretionary sanctions. As I indicated before, if there is evidence that he is directly related to the company or was in any way involved in the controversy then his name should figure in the article as well and I would have no problem with the discussion(s) being restored. Until then, anyone has a right to invoke WP:NPF and ask us to remove material about them from anywhere in Wikipedia. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:16, 8 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I think I'll wait until we see the results of the deletion discussion. If the article ends up getting deleted, or renamed or redirected to an article on the legal controversy, then it will be a moot point. Psychonaut (talk) 21:00, 8 July 2014 (UTC)

A couple more

There are two additional articles I think are ripe for an AFD, where I have a conflict of interest: Adreno (see discussion here) and the Autism Research Institute. In both cases, there are reliable sources that mention the article-subject, but they are not the subject of in-depth works as required by WP:CORP. In both cases there is a possibility of a contentious AfD, especially on the Autism Research Institute, an organization that historically supported a fringe view on autism treatment (I suspect an AFD may attract accusations of COI whitewashing).

I thought I would check with you on what you think the best way to proceed is. CorporateM (Talk) 18:52, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

@CorporateM: Give me a few days to invest a solid good hour on both of these and I'll get back to you. I'm around but busy with OTRS stuff and some real world work. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:11, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Cool thanks. CorporateM (Talk) 15:05, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
Ping! Just seeing if you still had time for this. Let me know if you want more info, etc. CorporateM (Talk) 13:54, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
@CorporateM: Autism Research Institute is at AFD. As far as Adreno is concerned, I agree that it seems like an indiscriminate bunch of information and the discussion in the talk page revolves mostly around WP:ITSUSEFUL but I have to admit I would be completely out of my comfort zone trying to do some WP:BEFORE on it. If you give me a deletion rationale, I'll nominate it neutrally on your behalf. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:38, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
Oh sorry, I forgot to watchlist the page and thus did not see the AfD discussion for ARI. How's this for Adreno:
"While quality source material exists in engineering trades such as Electronic Engineering Times[5][6][7][8][9] and Electronic Design News[10], in none of these sources is Adreno the subject of the article as required by GNG. Rather the sources are about Snapdragon (system on chip), which Adreno is a component of and where content about Adreno would be better suited. I suggest an AfD, rather than Merge, because most of the material on the Adreno page is not appropriate for Wikipedia (original research, extensive spec-sheets, crystal ball, etc.) such that practically speaking the content itself should be removed, rather than moved to a different page."
CorporateM (Talk) 18:40, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
@CorporateM: Thanks. Adreno now at AFD as well. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:27, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks - that one should be less contentious I think, since normally an editor with a COI is the one advocating to keep such a page. In my experience it is much easier to cleanup promotion than anything negative. CorporateM (Talk) 21:43, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

I have recently added new content to the above page. Since then it was reviewed by you and others.

It has been deleted based on these reviews.

My question to you is "what if i created same page" but omitted most recent additions?"

a. Will it be construed as another violation of a policy?

b. the time can be saved if previous editions can be located, where / how can I access it

c. many students of garment industry write to me from time to time asking to clarify their pressing issue, such as labour cost calculation, how do I answer those questions in "Garment sewing data" page without violating copyright — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abeywickrama (talkcontribs) 05:32, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Even after removing the copyright violations and the link spam, that's still inappropriate for Wikipedia. See WP:NOT. Your article belongs on a blog or trade-specific website. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:35, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Buzzmonger

I was the publisher of Buzzmonger in Dallas Texas. The FREE 'zine was finished in 1997... why are you deleting my wiki? People actually brag about having every issue, and as far as I know, none of them are for sale (if they are, please direct me to who is selling them because it was always meant to be free). So, there is no for-profit motive, only the request of people to know about content of issues, and give contributors the opportunity to talk about their reviews, etc. Colleen (Bradford) Morgan — Preceding unsigned comment added by Buzzmonger (talkcontribs) 04:18, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

When we speak of "promotion" we don't mean all the money you're making off of an article you created, we mean that it was written in a promotional tone that is inappropriate for the encyclopedia. More to the point, you created an article on a userpage, which would have been deleted in any case. If you feel this meets the notability guidelines then please use the Articles for Creation service instead, since you have a conflict of interest. And I recommend abandoning your current account, or requesting that it be renamed, because if you create an article about "Buzzmonger" with it, it will probably be blocked. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 21:53, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi FreeRangeFrog,

You were the closing admin on the Mobogenie afd, which resulted in a deletion, a little more than a month ago, and I thought I would let you know that the article has been recreated with substantially the same problems as in the afd, potentially meriting a speedy deletion. ARI consensus needed BEFORE major changes

As you have been reverted on a set of major changes to an article before restoring these changes you need to seek consensus on talk page before restoring these changes. See PAG based discussion on talk. - - MrBill3 (talk) 23:40, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Discussion on the talk page, please don't revert again. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:41, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
I am going to restore to the previous version. AFTER you have some consensus to support your changes they may be restored or redone on a case by case basis. Once reverted the onus is on the editor undoing the work of others to provide policy based discussion and get consensus. As you have made more than three edits that have undone the work of other editors in less than 24 hours I consider this a 3RR warning. I am hoping input from other editors can prevent further edit warring. You will see on the talk page extensive discussion with reference to policies and guidelines. I would prefer to have this move forward in a collegial manner. If you can provide discussion for a series of proposed edits and there is consensus support that is what I see as the best way to proceed (a series of smaller edits with consensus and policy). - - MrBill3 (talk) 01:22, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your self revert. I consider this a substantial act of good faith. I look forward to a discussion that will lead to the improvement of the article. Best. - - MrBill3 (talk) 01:25, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

You can have your article the way you want it. I really don't see how my efforts in that topical area will possibly ever improve the encyclopedia, and that's what I am here to do in the end. Call it an epiphany if you will (need to have those more often). I will bring the article to AFD though, which is the reason I laid my eye on it on the first place. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:33, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
I have added a new section to the talk page that I think summarizes our positions. If I have not represented your position accurately please add a comment (and strikethrough if you wish). I wish to avoid the appearance of an OWN position on my part and welcome the input of other editors. I appreciate your contributions to WP and it is my opinion that your efforts are genuine attempts to improve WP and generally do so. I understand that the topical area can be very contentious and your reservations. I hope the level of contention does not deter you from making contributions in a wide variety of subjects. True adherence to NPOV requires the input of a variety of editors. I don't think the article will be deleted as there is substantial coverage of the subject but feel free to AFD, that may bring some valuable input. Thank you for your contributions to WP and your good faith in dealing with me as an editor. Best wishes and happy editing. - - MrBill3 (talk) 01:49, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

article translation before create

Dear FreeRangeFrog,

I asked you a question regarding article translation at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:FreeRangeFrog#article_translation and now I've translated the article of https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%AE%8F%E6%AD%A3%E8%87%AA%E5%8B%95%E7%A7%91%E6%8A%80 following the notability guidelines.

I just wonder if it is better for you to take a look at the translated context before I create it in Wiki English ? If so, should I post the context here or how can I provide it to you ?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisclock (talkcontribs) 10:09, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Well, we don't have a review process and in any case if all you have are Chinese-language sources it will be impossible for me to evaluate them. So you have two choices: Either simply create it, or submit it to WP:AFC and have someone else review it. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:35, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Heather Bresch

I wanted to let you know I'll be working on the Heather Bresch/Heather_Bresch_M.B.A._controversy articles in a COI capacity and since you have an interest in BLPs I thought you might want to join me on those pages. It will probably take a couple months or so for me to do the research and get my ducks in a row though. But if you're interested I'll ping you later when I have some content ready.

My overall assessment was that the promotional Career section could be replaced with proper encyclopedic material, while the controversy gave me the impression of being written thoughtfully and carefully by someone with such an intense interest in the subject that they went a little over-board. The Summary Style on her main page is almost as long as the entire separate article. Her preference is to combine these two articles. I also made a minor, related Request Edit here.

@James BP Notroh: Thank you for creating another account. Now, per our conflict of interest guidelines (which I linked to above), please submit the article through here instead. You should not be creating an article about a company you have an association with. And before you do, please also review the notability guidelines (linked to above) and make a good-faith effort to determine if the subject meets them. Wikipedia is not a business directory, and not all subjects are accepted. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 00:34, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

@FreeRangeFrog: Thank you for your help! It is greatly appreciated to find someone who responds to questions!!! The business certainly meets the notability guidelines as there have been quite a few third party articles written about the company over the last few years. There was zero intent of turning this into a business listing, but was designed to be purely factual statements about the organization and how it was established and who it is associated with etc.

I obviously have an association with the business, so I have placed the request via the AFC link you have provided and left the tags {{Unreviewed}} as instructed. Hopefully there is enough references and links provided. I tried to follow the guidelines specifically before creating the content.

Thanks once again for your help and guidance!!! --James BP Notroh (talk) 02:37, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

@James BP Notroh: Maybe I didn't explain myself :) You simply re-created the article yourself - the point is that someone else should review it before it goes "live". The tag at the top is not related to AFC, but I've moved the article here: Draft:Baseplan Software and placed an appropriate tag. Keep in mind that simply saying "meets the notability guidelines" is not enough. You should prove it by using the material published about the company by secondary sources. See this and this for more information. As it is right now, I would not hesitate to delete the article again on the same basis: You have not established any notability at all. So you need to do that. Once you're ready, just hit that green button at the top to add it to the submission queue. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:52, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

@FreeRangeFrog: Ahhh, ok. I will look into it. My apologies! Can you please tell me what are the notable differences between https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-of-Rental_Systems and what I have submitted? I am not trying to be a pain, I am genuinely wanting to know the difference.

I thought using the references placed in the article by secondary sources, such as the publishers I have used, helps establish that notability? Once again, I honestly do appreciate your help in guiding me through this process. Cheers. --James BP Notroh (talk) 01:21, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

@James BP Notroh: I don't know and I'm not going to look... because each article has to stand on its own. See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. It's better to find a good article that's well-referenced and contains obvious assertions of notability, and use that as an example instead. Finding something "bad" and then saying "but mine's as bad as that one!" is an argument that rarely gets traction around here when it comes to deletion. And the AFC reviewers will tell you the same thing. Better to just make the article as good as it can be without worrying or otherwise thinking about any of the other 4 million articles on here. Notability is not "here's a few links about my company", it's "secondary sources have covered my company extensively and it has a clear claim to notability". As it stands now, your article would be deleted under this criteria by any admin without even blinking. It's just some facts about the company. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 01:31, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) As it stands, I would have no hesitation of deleting this article per WP:A7. Neither the sources are substantial nor is the content of those sources, much of which are taken from interviews with a company employee, or advertorial in highly commercial publications. This is all routine information none of which adds up to notability for anything special.Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:13, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

the article attracted considerable flak for its numerous factual errors must be sourced to the criticism of the article, not to the article itself. Otherwise it's just your opinion. Even though this is the first attempt at making a Wiki page for it, the Osto-EZ-Vent has been available to patients for nearly 20 years. It's a valuable tool for people (my grandfather included) to make their life more livable after such hardships like cancer (colon cancer in the case of my grandfather). Ostomy topics in general are not widely discussed because of their intimate nature and potential embarrassment of the patients, so even online there isn't much discussion. Just because you don't understand something does not mean it's an advertisement or unworthy of a simple page on Wikipedia. I'm asking if you would please review your thought process on having a page for the Osto-EZ-Vent. Wikipedia is here to help inform people, and if people like my grandfather can come here to gain some knowledge someone like their nurse or home healthcare worker fails to mention, it would be a great service to them.

And yes I created the page for KEM Enterprises, Inc. too to help establish that the Osto-EZ-Vent is from a reputable company. This is important, I think, when dealing with a product that tends to peoples' health.

Thank you.

I would invite you to read through the deletion discussion and consider that Wikipedia is not a product directory or the place to "tell" people about things. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:07, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Your reversion of my edit

I was notified of your revert. I would like to know what about the edit was not acceptable, and not neutral, so I may make better judgements when handling edit requests. :-)—cyberpower ChatOnline 16:54, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

@C678: With wording such as "self-proclaimed", "IAC-controlled Match group", "purported co-founders", "looked the other way", "are innocent of the allegations because it is clear Whitney Wolfe's claims are baseless" it should be immediately obvious that the requested edit is anything but neutral. It always helps to look at the edit history of an article (and the reason it happens to be protected) when responding to requests. When in doubt, leave it to another editor §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:10, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
What the hell was I thinking when I handled that request? :p—cyberpower ChatOnline 17:14, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
Meh, don't sweat it. Far better things to worry about around here :) §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:39, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

I have just declined the rather hasty resubmission of this draft. I've given the author some serous pointers, and I wondered if there was anything you would like to add that may be useful for them. Fiddle Faddle 20:12, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

@Timtrent: I don't see I could put it any more clear than you did in your summary. I think the org is notable, but they have to put in the time to create a decent article. If they can't or won't, that's unfortunate but there's nothing we can do about it. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 22:18, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Pasadena International Film Festival

I created the article Pasadena International Film Festival yesterday, and you gave an A7 deletion. I was wondering what I need to do to have the site posted up again, because this is a legitimate and significant festival and we have several articles that prove its existence. One of which was already posted on the page as a reference. Let me know how this can be fixed. Thanks.

Please see WP:PSCOI, specifically the "Advice" section. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:28, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Just FYI, I re-added the information you removed from Hans Funck's article. Just because that info was not in the German page doesn't mean the info in The Hollywood Reporter is wrong or that their info is invalidated. As for the project Funck was working on, the two sources don't contradict each other; THR says he was wrapping up his work on Wishing Tree for Ankie Lau (they even has a quote from Lau about Funck's passing), which means he would have had his next project lined up. That project was The Girl King, which the German page says he had just started on when he died. (For the record, when I first checked the German source, it mentioned nothing about The Girl King). Anyways, the article now has info from both sources. :) --ThylekShran (talk) 08:54, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Kelsey Lee

Sheesh, why in the world would the article be removed for no reason? Also, you gave the reason that it was A7, which obviously isn't. I added reliable sources as well as her pages. She's not my family member or friend. XHIT-loving teen boy (talk) 18:24, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

"Obviously isn't"? Please read WP:CSD#A7 more closely. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:42, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
But those sources I added to the article were reliable. The article's important because she's an extremely popular (teenage?) girl on XHIT. Also, I wasn't infringing any copyright. XHIT-loving teen boy (talk) 18:49, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
With few exceptions, the sources (twitter and facebook and a website dedicated to what the subject does) are irrelevant if there is no assertion of importance, which is why it was speedily deleted. Beyond that, assuming it hadn't been deleted immediately, popularity does not translate to notability. Without that, it will be deleted eventually as well. I suggest creating a submission at AFC so that other editors can evaluate what you have and decide if it merits inclusion. That will also avoid the speedy deletion. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:55, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Patch of Land

Hi FreeRangeFrog,

I created Patch of Land's article yesterday on wikipedia and I just got deleted today due to A7. I am having a hard time understanding why we got deleted, since some of our competitors Fundrise and American Homeowner Preservation both have articles on Wikipedia. Please advise, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karenchik123 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. And there was nothing in that article that asserted any measure of importance whatsoever - every citation given was to crowdfunding sites, blogs that make a living covering crowdfunding projects, or PR releases. I assume you have a conflict of interest, so please follow the advice here. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:42, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the response. Am I able to rectify these mistakes and create a new article that follows these guidelines with the same "Patch of Land" article name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karenchik123 (talkcontribs) 19:34, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes, however you need to determine if the subject meets the notability guidelines and then if it does, submit a new draft through Articles for Creation. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:37, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
Interestingly, Patch of Land was re-created yesterday by a user with the same name as your "competitor", American Homeowner Preservation. See [11]. Needless to say that user has also been editing their namesake article and unsurprisingly has also created Real estate crowdfunding. I may take this entire suite of articles to the Conflict of Interest Noticeboard for a second opinion. Voceditenore (talk) 07:57, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

The User:Seshagirirao has some links which are pointing to other websites, seems to be his own medical clinic, are they suitable or should be removed?--Vin09 (talk) 06:29, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

@Vin09: They're fine. They're not excessive. You should always look at the user's contributions before tagging their pages. U5/G11 should almost always be used for people who come to Wikipedia solely to paste their resume, make a fan page for their band, promote their landscaping business, etc. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:32, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
That was not tagged by me.--Vin09 (talk) 06:33, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Oh, that's true. That was LeoFrank. Sorry. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 06:35, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
The user has some resume kind of info there, also this link shows that, anyway I felt this way, if it is ok, then fine.--Vin09 (talk) 06:33, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

As you were one of the admins who deleted this article in one of its previous incarnations, just a heads-up that it's been created a third time and I've taken it to an AfD discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Patch of Land. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 08:24, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Me again. Thanks for redirecting Real estate crowdfunding. I've added a three sentence section on the subject with referencing to Crowdfunding and added a merged-to template at the former article. It's quite difficult to find sources that aren't "guest written" by CEOs of real estate crowdfunding companies, but I managed to find two. It's probably worth checking a whole slew of obviously paid for/COI articles related to this sector. e.g. David Drake (venture capitalist), LendInvest, Fundrise, Jorge P Newbery (if nothing else this one needs a huge red-pencil taken to it) as does American Homeowner Preservation. Then there are these little beauties waiting in the wings Draft:Groundbreaker and Draft:Realtyshares. Sigh... Best, Voceditenore (talk) 14:20, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
@Voceditenore: Going through some of these, just blocked User:Groundbreaker Inc for obvious reasons. I'm thinking American Homeowner Preservation might be notable, but I'm not sure. Looking through the rest over the weekend. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:50, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi Frog. I agree that American Homeowner Preservation would probably scrape a pass at an AfD, simply because it has been around a lot longer and before it turned to the crowdfunding model, although the articles for both it and its founder need a good clean out. They are still basically unreferenced PR tended by an SPA. I'm going to be away for the next month, but will look in on all this again when I get back. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 17:22, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Gunnedah article

Hi there. The dispute over the Adam Marshall article does effectively appear to be over now that this source mentioning his conviction has been found:

www.inverelltimes.com.au/story/2426136/marshall-pays-price-for-his-poor-driving-record

I would have thought that with the addition of this link, we could revert your most recent edit right now? His page has since had the category "Australian politicians convicted of crimes" put back the same way it was before the dispute arose. The only possible issue is that there appears to be no ex members who have a finding of guilt in relation to that one either.

Remind me never to run for public office then get done for drunk driving when I am already an habitual traffic offender!

Ghostofthelandscape (talk) 08:16, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@Ghostofthelandscape: I see where the discussion was resolved, I was initially looking at the bottom of the talk page, and the opened mediation request you have. I restored the entry in the list, minus the excessively negative referencing, commentary and links you added. Don't push it. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:36, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
I can't help it if one of the two things he best known for is something his mumma wouldn't be proud of.
Is it alright if we ask for a third opinion about the desirability of putting it back exactly the same way as it was before?
Ghostofthelandscape (talk) 07:35, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
If you required a second opinion I would have recommended you ask for it, but you don't. What is not appropriate is to add it to the list with negative commentary. We get that you're here to make sure that biography contains the negative material you feel it should contain, and that's fine. Just don't go spreading the love everywhere else. If a name is added to a "List of famous people" from a location all that is needed is to add the name. The article content takes care of the rest. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:47, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Are you absolutely sure about this PROD? Of course it's quite possible I've missed something because I'm in a rush to get a few last minute things done before I board a couple of planes in a few hours for 18 hours of flying to the UK for Wikimania . --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:40, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@Kudpung: Yes... kinda. It's supposed to be an accredited university (or so it says in their website) so per WP:UNIGUIDE (to use something since we lack firm notability guidelines for schools) it should be implicitly notable, but thoroughly fails WP:ORG. My problem is that as far as I can see there's no secondary record of them actually being accredited. I checked a few others (there's literally hundreds of these) and I did find some, but not for this one. I might be missing sources in Hindi or Tamil, not sure. Of course it's a PROD, if you think it merits inclusion please feel free to contest it. What I was looking for specifically are companies treated as "schools" when they are really not. It's a deeper rabbit hole than I thought. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:46, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
No, I'm not going to dePROD it - I'll bow to your judgement because I couldn't make up my mind if it were some kind of degree mill or a genuine uni. The creator will have got the message and if they are not a drive-by SPA they'll fix it. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 18:52, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
@Kudpung: Nevermind, I found it. Looks like I was looking for the wrong thing. They are technically at least accredited per the Indian government, so the PROD would be inappropriate. I'm guessing if this went to AFD the outcome would be keep based solely on that, so I guess that's enough. Thanks for making me hesitate §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:57, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Fawn Rogers

Hello I noticed you deleted the Fawn Rogers page on July 27. I was not the original contributor but I was one of the last ones to contribute and you flagged it as an advertisement. She is a working artist and her page was posted for quite awhile without issue. I simply added references as they were not input properly and made more sense of the body of the text in addition to adding more on some of her notable works. I would like to request you re-review it and tell me what I can do to get it re-posted whether that be changing some of the wording or taking out some of the content. Fawn Rogers is a valid addition to Wikipedia as her works are unique and should be explained in addition to being apart of prominent exhibitions and collections.

--Artthings (talk) 16:56, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@Artthings: The article was actually tagged as a copyvio of this and this website, although it was also extremely promotional. Did you paste or closely paraphrase that material? If you have your email enabled I can send you the text so you can look it over, fix it and recreate. It looks like the subject is notable enough. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:19, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, Thanks for getting back to me quickly. Yes my email is attached to Wikipedia. I would so appreciate you sending the text. I will fix the text. I was not the one who wrote most of it but I am up for the task as I would like to have it re-posted. Thanks again!

Bobby Watson (rufus musician) article...rejected January 2014

Hi, can you tell me what a G13 reset is?...I see the notation on the history of the article... See the person who originally submitted has not touched it since the refusal... But see entries by others... requesting deletion of page (which I understand happens after 6 months of being dormant) is that correct?

Thank you for your time, My Best,

poekneegurlPoekneegurl (talk) 18:42, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@Poekneegurl: When an article is restored by request, the G13 deletion tag at the top remains. Instead of restoring the version prior to the tagging, we restore the last version prior to the deletion and then manually remove the tag. I use the "G13 clock reset" summary for those, other admins use something else. If we didn't do that, after being restored the article would be eligible for G13 deletion immediately again since it looks like it hasn't been touched in 6 months. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:50, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your RAPID response... I am not so bright... :) So does that mean the article WILL be deleted shortly... or does that mean that you SAVED it from being deleted for a Specific period of time... and if so...how much time...?? Or if it IS going to be deleted...when exactly would that be... I may see if someone else may wish to get involved with saving the article .. I saw this musician is the only one out of the Rufus group that does NOT have a wiki page... curious as to why? And is the person the tmfelderstein who submitted it...they are not responding or they have never been back on to see it is getting iced?

poekneegurlPoekneegurl (talk) 19:02, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@Poekneegurl: I have no idea why the subject does not have a bio, but some musicians are not "standalone notable" so to speak. They must meet WP:MUSICBIO or else they tend to be redirects to the band instead. The article was restored and you can work on it if you wish. It would be deleted after six months of inactivity, but being rejected by the reviewers is not an immediate cause for deletion. That the original submitter is not available or active shouldn't be a problem, anyone can work on any article, including AFC submissions. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:11, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Ok... going dumb on you again...but appreciate your patience... what is AFC? (you said even "they" can work on something}?

Thank you for interacting with me so quickly... I thank you for your time as well.

Sincerely,

poekneegurlPoekneegurl (talk) 19:34, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

@Poekneegurl: Alright, let's go back a bit. I thought you were the one who requested undeletion of this article, but I can see that's not the case. So, that is what we call an "AFC submission". AFC stands for Articles for Creation, which is a group of editors who review, approve and promote articles that for whatever reason are not created directly by registered users. Abandoned AFC submissions are routinely deleted after not being edited for six months, which is what happened here. Someone then requested here that it be undeleted, which I did, and that's where my "G13 clock reset" comes from. So now the submission is there, it has been rejected twice (thus the tags at the top) but anyone (including you too!) can work on it, improve it and re-submit it. It is not a live article, it's just a submission and it needs work in order for it to be moved to where the rest of the articles live. Now, let's assume no one does work on it for six months - then it will be deleted again, but only because it would be considered to be abandoned. Does that all make sense? §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:03, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
By the way, there's no need to start a new section for every comment, you can just reply below and use ::: to indent. Also, thanks for the Wikilove below :) §FreeRangeFrogcroak 23:05, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Question on page creation

Hello,

I recently tried to edit the "real estate crowdfunding" Wikipedia page that has been created several times, and deleted for the following reasons: list of 50 non-notable platforms and too short and could be merged with "crowdfunding". I believe, as do many others, that the real estate industry has been altered by the legislation of the JOBS Act, and, more specifically, the passing of Title II. Previous drafts of this article have put into context the historical significance and established growth of this industry and a brief overview of it. If the the first 50 platforms are deleted from this page-- will the rest of the page stand to stay live, as it well cited with credible sources? I Would appreciate some positive feedback instead of speedy deletions. This article serves the purpose of educating people on the innovation of entrepreneurship in the wake of President Obama lifting an 80 year SEC ban. Thank you. PDKwiki (talk) 18:38, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

@PDKwiki: Let me be very blunt - myself and a few other editors believe from your and other accounts' editing patterns that you are here to promote the concept and some of the companies and people involved in it. For example, the extent of your edits to Wikipedia so far are to this particular article and to David Drake (venture capitalist). At least one of the articles associated with you (I use that generally to mean whomever you are working with) has been deleted, at least two accounts have been blocked (this one for example) and this particular article was essentially a badly sourced essay on the concept with a list of companies that have no articles in Wikipedia, supported by external links mainly to timesrealtynews.com and crowdfundinsider.com in violation of WP:EL (or failing that, WP:REFSPAM). Now you removed the references, which leaves us with an unreferenced list of non-notable companies. One of the reasons why we require internal links in lists is precisely to prevent spam. So there is obviously something going on here. What it is I'm not sure yet. So, I'm going to ask you to disclose whether or not you have a conflict of interest here, and we can go forward from there. In the meantime, I will ask that you leave that redirect alone, since the Crowdfunding article already has some information about the topic. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:14, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

I work for American Homeowner Preservation and we are trying to increase awareness of real estate crowdfunding in general. I understand the conflict of interest concerns and tried to be careful in my contributions to not be promotional to AHP or any one company/individual, but more to provide information on this nascent industry, cite multiple sources and include as many companies as possible. You are correct - by including a lot of companies, I included several which are not noteworthy. My thought was that we since are in the industry, we would be well positioned to contribute. Real estate crowdfunding is a growing field and I expect eventually it will warrant it's own page. Maybe that's premature now. In the interim, should I contribute to the real estate crowdfunding section under crowdfunding? PDKwiki (talk) 03:54, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

You are aware that Wikipedia is not intended to "increase awareness" of anything, right? Wikipedia documents notability, it does not help create or increase it. And you very obviously have a conflict of interest, and shouldn't have been creating articles related to the topic to begin with. In the future, please follow the advice at WP:PSCOI regardless of where you contribute. And don't use multiple accounts. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:04, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Ali Mohammad Poshtdar

It seems that Ali Mohammad Poshtdar still exists, despite the closing of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ali Mohammad Pshtdar. I surmise that the article was moved mid-AfD discussion to correct the typo/transliteration (Psht --> Posht), and then recreated with the wrong name again, and that's the version you deleted at Ali Mohammad Pshtdar ? Weird. Tarc (talk) 17:33, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

@Tarc: Well that is certainly weird... But since it's the same version discussed, I've deleted it. Thanks for the heads up. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 17:36, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

The Edit button disappeared because you re-created the article one too many times. Wikipedia is not the place to advertise businesses. If you think the subject meets the notability guidelines you are welcome to use Articles for Creation instead. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:40, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello. FreeRangeFrog. I believe the above AfD was closed prematurely. The discussion was relisted 29 July which I believed was a correct decision. Then you deleted it 31 July. I hold off voting since it was a developing story and after it was relisted I expected it to stay relisted for about a week. Even though the threat didn't materialize, I believe the story is notable due to massive media coverage in Scandinavia during the event, but also various kind of follow-up discussion afterwards. PST's handling of the situation will be evaluated by the Norwegian Parliamentary Intelligence Oversight Committee. Also if it wasn't kept it should have been merged, for instance to 2014 in Norway. Iselilja (talk) 16:38, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

The close was appropriate given the consensus that this wasn't enduring or notable enough for an article. The keep !votes were essentially "I think this is a big deal" without rationalizing why. Ultimately nothing short of an actual attack would have merited inclusion, and in that case what was on this article would have ended up as a footnote at best. As to the merge, I have it in my TODO list for Monday or Tuesday (typing this from a tablet at the moment), if you want to do it yourself I can userify the contents or send them to you via email if you're willing to do it. Finally, you can of course request a deletion review of the close if you like. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:13, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, I took it to deletion review. Would you care to temporary undelete the page; I don't think I can myself. Regards, Iselilja (talk) 19:17, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

I don't know if this is on your watchlist but I see you reverted an IP there last month. Take a look at their website:[12] - not exactly what the article suggests they are. Dougweller (talk) 19:53, 3 August 2014 (UTC)

@Dougweller: Yeah, sigh. Thing is, there are two different "associations" that seem to share the same name, and the article history shows repeated attempts to hijack the title in favor of both. I got wind of that via OTRS, but quite frankly I think that should go to AFD at this point. I did a bit of research and I don't think either of them meet WP:ORG. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 19:59, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
You know more about this then I do, will you start the AfD? And take a look at my posts to WP:FTN - there's a little group of articles about a little group of very unpleasant people (not just truthers but more unsavory right wing connections). Dougweller (talk) 20:10, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
