It's a bad idea to write an article about yourself

[edit]

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Jeremiah Ferguson. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 01:59, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Fix my wiki! Jeremiah Ferguson (talk) 16:08, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That was an automated reply. Shouting at it will not achieve anything - please be civil. If you want an article written, instead of shouting demands, try working with us to let us help you. There is a standard that is required for an article to be allowed; if it doesn't meet the standard, it gets deleted. Administrators will allow you time to work on it UNLESS it is a candidate for speedy deletion, like yours was. It was written as an advert, so it gets removed immediately. Rewrite it and try again. BUT, and I cannot emphasise this enough, editors are strongly discouraged from writing about themselves. If you aren't Jeremiah Ferguson, as you seem to be implying above, then there is a problem with you username, and you will have to change it - see the Policy on Misleading and Confusing Usernames. Stephen! Coming... 16:33, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know how to to change my user name however this page needs to be restored and I am not the same jeremiah just working on itJeremiah Ferguson (talk) 00:34, 5 August 2014 (UTC)Jeremiah Ferguson (talk) 00:33, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, I don't need to restore the article, as it still exists in Draftspace at Draft:Jeremiah Ferguson., You will be able to carry out your edits there, and then submit it for approval when it is ready. One thing that I notice though is that a lot of it is written in first person, admittedly by an anonymous IP address, but it was just before you created your account. So once again, I say if you are the Jeremiah Ferguson that is the subject of this article, then please don't write about yourself. Honesty is the best policy, as it is possible to carry out checks on user accounts to see what IP addresses they edit under.
As to your second point, changing your username. The best way to do this is to request a new username at WP:CHUS. Follow all the instructions, ensuring that your proposed account meets the Username Policy and is not already in use. Stephen! Coming... 06:47, 5 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

moving draft articles into the Wikipedia: namespace

[edit]

Please do not push your draft articles to the Wikipedia:Project namespace. This is not the intent nor the purposes of that namespace which is solely for Wikipedia discussion or information, not articles. I have reverted these edits and placed them back where they were before. Please keep your draft edits in the Drafts namespace where they belong until they are ready for inclusion into the main encyclopaedia. Please also see: Help:Userspace draft, Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft. Please submit the draft for review and it will be reviewed for inclusion by members of the community; do not circumvent processes. Please also do not write articles about yourself; as you have been told before. Thank you. -- dsprc [talk] 08:13, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bizarre (rapper), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Natas. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:19, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
