Hi, the lead is a summary of the article text and needs no citations if the content is sourced in the article body. Regards Hekerui (talk) 08:14, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Paul Achleitner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. trunks_ishida (talk) 03:14, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. The article Bespoke portfolio has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

"Bespoke portfolio" has nothing particularly to do with synthetic CDOs, it's any portfolio that is bespoke, that is, custom-tailored for the client. In any event, this is a dictionary definition without encyclopedic content.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Largo Plazo (talk) 22:29, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

@Largoplazo: Please see my response on the article's talk page

Nomination of Bespoke portfolio for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Bespoke portfolio is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bespoke portfolio until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. —Largo Plazo (talk) 23:10, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

I suppose you would also delete your comment from 1 August on keeping Richard Threston, since it is contrary to your current conclusion? Just wanted to remind you in case you forgot ... As for our suspicion that the article served to promote a living person ... well ... "T.R. Threston" sure is at the center of it with all articles from AustralianThreston's sock-farm pointing to it. However, I still fail to make head or tail of it. The whole story got me hooked and I was doing research on all "people" involved in this. Honestly: the story is getting stranger by the minute ... I first suspected T.R. Threston to have tried to boost herself, then I thought she might want to advertise her upcoming book, until I found out that it had been announced in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and still was not published today. Then I checked her profiles elsewhere, checked her publishing company and whatnot and always ended up at a dead end. Her company, for instance, is mentioned on different social network sites, but when you finally get to the publisher's web-site its one of them free-servers with no list of publications and no authors or anything ... its the same with all her contacts, some of them having had Wikipedia-articles, that have either been deleted by now or are currently undergoing AfD (Sofia Braganza, John P. Fitzpatrick, and others). There are profiles online, but when you start to dig all links lead to nowhere ... Right now I am not sure any of these people ever existed! I just don't quite understand the motivation of setting such a thing up. LagondaDK (talk) 14:54, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

@LagondaDK: : I think I've amended my comments on the lot now. The citations at first looked plausible but I googled the ISBNs - as I see you did - and smelled a rat. Quite remarkable. Fiachra10003 (talk) 15:18, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Ok ... I just thought about this comment (Absolutely agreed - the AfD re. the present-day Threshton seems to be self-promotion but that doesn't change the fact that the articles about the 14th century Threshtons seem to pass WP:GNG and to have merit - assuming the facts stated in the articles to be trueFiachra10003 (talk) 19:54, 1 August 2014 (UTC)) ... but yeah ... that thing was quite bold! Whoever did this went through a hell lot of efford to proof relevance with fake reference. Even if there was a Richard Threston: he wouldn't have been relevant to begin with. Actually, I thought you were a vandal but should have done you the courtesy of checking your talk page and contributions. Please see my response on your talk page Fiachra10003 (talk) 18:27, 17 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Fiachra10003. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notability in Knight's Cross Holder articles

Hi, since you participated in an AfD discussion that involved this topic, I'm letting you know that I started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Notability (people)#Notability in Knight's Cross Holder Articles -- to see if the issue can be dealt on a systemic basis, rather than one off AfDs.

One of the suggestions I got was to see if an RfC may need to be formulated, so I'm seeking input into this potential RfC or other possible ways to address the notability concern in similar articles. K.e.coffman (talk) 04:42, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Sergei Skripal, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page AFP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). New page reviewer granted

Hello Fiachra10003. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia; if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. ~ Amory (utc) 01:02, 14 March 2018 (UTC)

Goodwin Comments

Hi Fiachra10003, I am really excited about any comments or ways to improve. I went to the article and didn't see your comments in the article or in the talk page. I am new so I am sure I am missing something. Where should I be looking for your comments? Thanks so much for your time on this.RoseCarinhaOliveira (talk) 19:44, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi Rose... the reason you didn't see anything was because another editor, like you and I, had taken care of it by adding the categories you now see at the bottom of the article. Thanks again... Fiachra10003 (talk) 20:21, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi I came across the civil courage page

via the NPP list.

Rather than tag bomb it, I thought I'd mention here because you seem to be working on it.

It's mostly sourced from the page about the award WP:PRIMARY. In this case should this be a page about the actual award? If yes, then it requires WP:SECONDARY sourcing.

If no, and its about the act of civil courage its self, then WP:DICTIONARY seems to apply. This is an expanded definition of a word, with nothing but its definition to assign it notability.

Also, lastly, the article is using Wikipedia as a source. That's not ok (in any language) WP:USERG

and lastly lastly... I've actually tagged it now, as I've checked the last edit time which exceeds the ten minutes required for performing this action.

Thoughts at a glance.

Edaham (talk) 08:07, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Fiachra10003,
I see you prefer to have questions asked on your own talk page, so here I am. I wasn't aware of the text containing a copyvio, as you said I just split it off from the larger article about fireworks because that was becoming a bit too long with all the specific details about legislation. I'm not really responsible for the content, and am not very attached to the text. Copyvios should be removed. But is it necessary to delete the entire article or just those passages that are copyvios? Greetings, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 22:34, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

As best I can tell, almost all of the text in the article comes from http://www.greatgrizzly.com/safety/state-laws/ or from https://www.shoalwaterbay-nsn.gov/assets/PDFs/Law--Order-Codes/Stand-Owner-Fireworks-classifications-in-the-United-States.pdf (there are a number of articles very like the latter.) I don't think either of these sources is a Wikipedia mirror and neither gives any sign of being anything other than a copyright holder. Please take a look. FYI, I'm happy to talk on either talk page - that message is automatically generated - but seeing as we're here we may as well continue here, no? Fiachra10003 (talk) 22:50, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Here is another unattributed source for the article's contents that appears not to be a wikipedia mirror: http://consensus.fsu.edu/Fireworks-Task-Force/pdfs/fireworks_dijs.pdf Fiachra10003 (talk) 23:55, 21 March 2018 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Joseph R. Fisher

The article Joseph R. Fisher you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Joseph R. Fisher for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. PC Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

New Page Review Newsletter No.10

Hello Fiachra10003, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.

Paid editing

  • Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled

  • While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.

News

  • The next issue Wikipedia's newspaper The Signpost has now been published after a long delay. There are some articles in it, including ACTRIAL wrap-up that will be of special interest to New Page Reviewers. Don't hesitate to contribute to the comments sections. The Signpost is one of the best ways to stay up date with news and new developments - please consider subscribing to it. All editors of Wikipedia and associated projects are welcome to submit articles on any topic for consideration by the The Signpost's editorial team for the next issue.

NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018

Hello Fiachra10003, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Deletion tags

  • Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.

Backlog drive:

  • A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Editathons

  • There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.

Paid editing - new policy

  • Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

  • The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
  • Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.

Not English

  • A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.

News

  • Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
  • The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.
