Regarding the deletion of Jeff Watson (designer)

Hi,

I just realized that the page of Jeff Watson (designer) was removed. Jeff was a Assistant Professor and a mentor for me and many other graduate students in the department of Interactive Media and Game Design in the University of Southern California. He had a very good reputation not only among student but people in the industry and academia as well. He passed away in 2020, and the whole USC as well as his graduate school hosted a major event to memorize him. You believed that his page does not meet the requirement of notability guidelines, yet as a former student of him and a PhD in the field of game design and game studies, I have to point out with respect that this is not the case, many people still memorizing and talking about him even after 4 year of his death. I really wish you can withdraw the deletion of his page. ESAKA114514 (talk) 08:28, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I just noticed you undeleted the page of Jeff Watson (designer) I mentioned yesterday. Many thanks for it. However, I just noticed that it was removed again due to " Cross-namespace redirect from mainspace". I am wondering what happened to this page and how to properly recover it again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8800:7c85:b500:d916:b9fd:2ad8:815a (talk) 05:46, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
@ESAKA114514: Hi, you created a copy of the deleted article at Draft:Jeff Watson (designer). Because copying within Wikipedia legally requires attribution, I restored the page history and merged it into the draft. You can view those revisions by clicking the History tab. plicit 11:21, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much for pointing it out! Is the current draft eligible to submit for review for there are still revision needed before doing so? ESAKA114514 (talk) 16:36, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello, thanks

Deleting my drafts realized I should be using Wikipedia for its intended purpose, thanks. :)

I just never knew where to edit so I put my conlangs here since they were very important to me, I tried getting people to like it but no one did. If you have any suggestions for any of my concerns, leave them below.

References

Hi, I don't know if it was you who deleted the page I requested or someone else; were there references within the deleted page that aren't present in the commedia dell'arte page? Unfortunately I didn't save the references, maybe some had to be transferred. Since you're an administrator, could you please check? JacktheBrown (talk) 01:12, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

@JacktheBrown: Hi, I've made a copy of the article available here, where you can view all the references. The link will expire in one month. plicit

Request undeletion of Module:I18n for userification

Hey, I noticed Module:i18n was deleted almost a year ago for being unused, but I do think there is utility for keeping such a module around. Namely, a lot of modules from both Wikimedia and Fandom projects use i18n for messages and the like. I do think this module should be undeleted to allow for userification in Module:Sandbox/Awesome Aasim/I18n and examination of the code, etc. Awesome Aasim 19:09, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

@Awesome Aasim:  Done, module userfied. plicit 00:29, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
Oh my goodness, this is some waste of a module. Nothing like the i18n module on Fandom. Anyway, thanks. Awesome Aasim 00:32, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Deletion review for Koi... Mil Gaya 3

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Koi... Mil Gaya 3. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Gotitbro (talk) 15:37, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Redirects

Dear Explicit, there are three redirects, like Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, Antelias, Armenian Diocese of Iraq, and Armenian Prelacy of Lebanon, which are definately not correct. It is obvious, that the main cathedral should not redirect to the pontifical see, when we have two different artilces in data ([1] and [2]). Armenian Diocese of Iraq, as the other Dioceses mentioned here, should have a separate article, as the one existing in data ([3]). Armenian Prelacy of Lebanon is the official name [4], and should never be a reference, but the main page. Please undo the reverts Խմբագրող (talk) 06:33, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

@Խմբագրող: Hi, these redirects simply do not meet any speedy deletion criteria. As I stated in my edit summaries, you are free to nominate them for deletion at WP:RFD. plicit 13:02, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

Request for undeletion of pages of IMOCA 60 class boats

Hello, I noticed you deleted the pages to these three boats: IMOCA 60 11th Hour, IMOCA 60 Initiative Coeur 4, IMOCA 60 Maitre Coq 5. It is common practice, that every boat of the IMOCA 60 class has its own article. As the most important race of that class, the Vendée Globe is about to start in about two months, these article become more relevant and the sources available about the boats get better. I would like to have the chance to bring the pages up to a worthy standard and would like to request the undeletion of these. V.Glas (talk) 10:09, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

@V.Glas: Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request. plicit 10:15, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Can you please delete File:Muhammadalimirza.png uploaded by blocked sockpuppet StanFuk and later edited by BenCKP, both blocked sockpuppets of NomanPK44 Fieldheid (talk) 10:20, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

@Fieldheid: Hi, this file was uploaded on Commons and there is no WP:CSD#G5-esque speedy deletion criterion for deleting contributions made by sockpuppets of blocked or banned users on that project. If there is an issue regarding the legitimacy of the YouTube license, you will need to initiate a deletion request there. plicit 10:25, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Monophile I would like to request the undeletion of this page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tushar Palve i need more one chance and find Sufficient sources and add to the page, deleted I believe I can build this article so that it visibly meets WP:GNG and WP:BIO, Please restore the page Moved into draftspace, so that I can make edits to it. Thank you. Monophile (talk) 04:55, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

@Monophile:  Done, now available at Draft:Tushar Palve. I suggest going through the Articles for creation process to get an independent reviewer to look at your improvements and determine if the subject meets notability guidelines. plicit 10:19, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
FYI, this article has been recreated under Dr Tushar Palve, even shorter than before and without addressing the prior issues that led to deletion. As your refund was not conditioned on use of the AfC process I'm not sure if this is something I should be raising here, but since it started here I wanted to let you know.
I will be considering whether to PROD/AfD this again, but have given @Monophile the opportunity to move it back into draftspace. Oblivy (talk) 04:15, 23 September 2024 (UTC)

Miles Spencer - Delete

Please forgive any nomenclature shortcomings here; Interested on why this was deleted today? This page has existed for ~20 years and also has sources such as Forbes, NY Times, Fast Company, etc. contributing to the article. There are also multiple wiki pages that cross link. Note; this is also a living TV/Media personality. Full Disclosure; I work in an affiliate and was asked to investigate.

This page does not exist. The deletion, protection, and move log for the page are provided below for reference. 11:59, 18 September 2024 Explicit talk contribs deleted page Miles Spencer (Expired PROD, concern was: Poorly sourced promotional article on a "media entrepreneur".) Tag: Twinkle (thank) Fletcherpoince (talk) 20:41, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

@Explicit See above. I am tasked with investigating this removal, which has been active over ten years... mostly I am interested to know what promotional [piece/article/picture] may have triggered the PROD (which I missed until now- my bad)... the most likely fair solution is to remove the offending citation and let the legacy page stand. Happy to propose this back to the community, but figured I'd ask you first. Please advise. Kind regards Fletcherpoince (talk) 00:57, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
@Fletcherpoince:(talk page watcher) There are no "legacy pages" on Wikipedia as explained in WP:LONGTIME. A proposed deletion is, for the most part, considered to be a non-contentious one; so, if you're telling Explicit that you wish to challenge this deletion per WP:DEPROD, then (absent any really serious issues) he most likely can restore the article. This, however, doesn't ensure that the article can't be nominated for deletion by someone at some point in the future. The best way to reduce the risk of that happening is to make sure the article complies with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines, in particular Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:Notability.
Finally, since you're claiming to work in an affiliate and have been tasked with investigating this removal, you most certainly sound to have at least an WP:APPARENTCOI. For this reason, I strongly suggest that you take a close look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure before doing anything else to better understand what's going to be expected of not only you but also of anyone else who might be being asked to make requests on behalf of Miles Spencer. You might also want to take a look at Wikipedia:Ownership of content, Wikipedia:When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia and Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing for reference as well and pass along the information you find on those pages to whoever asked to "investigate" this matter because they might not fully understand some important things about Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:19, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for guidance @talk page stalker. Please read my first sentence; "Please forgive any nomenclature shortcomings here" (rookie); I wanted to review the article for compliance as you suggest but ATM can't see it. So request is first step. Thanks again, incl. guidance on COI, Biographies, Notability. Fletcherpoince (talk) 02:12, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Explicitjust checking in on this. respectfully Fletcherpoince (talk) 21:13, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

A Grammar of Vai.jpg

Hello! I re-started the article A Grammar of Vai after I found some book reviews about it. I am aware A Grammar of Vai.jpg was deleted because the article had been made into a redirect (as the sourcing was not yet in place). Now that the article is back, is it OK if the image is re-uploaded?

Regarding the deletion of Mohammed Tharwat Hassan (Scientist)

Hi, I have realized you deleted Mohammed Tharwat Hassan's page. This page was created to present the biography of Mohammed Tharwat Hassan, an associate professor of physics and optical sciences at the University of Arizona. All the information and references on that page were correct and obtained from the Physics Department at the University of Arizona website https://w3.physics.arizona.edu/people/mohammed-hassan and from his research group's website

https://sites.arizona.edu/mohammedhassan/

Also, The research was based on his published research articles on his Google Scholar website

https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=JA0qsY0AAAAJ&hl=en

I would highly appreciate it if you could review the information and if confirmed to restore the page.

Thank you so much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MTH111 (talkcontribs) 01:44, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

@MTH111: Sorry, but as the page was deleted as a result of a deletion discussion, I cannot unilaterally undelete the page. I see that you created a draft. You are free to work on it and submit your work for review at Articles for creation. plicit 03:34, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank! @Explicit is there a particular reason for the deletion of the page?
also I would like to declare COI for the draft page i just submitted for review. MTH111 (talk) 03:52, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
@MTH111: The link to the deletion discussion is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammed Tharwat Hassan, where other editors argued their reasons for deletion. To declare your COI, please see the instructions at WP:UPE, particularly the "Connected contributor (paid) template" box. plicit 04:00, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
@Explicit, I saw the discussion led to the deletion. However, the H-index is not a rigid parameter for the scientist contribution. For example, Prof. John F. Clauser (Nobel prize in Physics in 22) his H-idex is 39 and when he won the prize it was 28 https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=BDm2SGcAAAAJ&hl=en . Also, Prof. Donna Strickland ( Nobel prize in Physics in 2018) , same research field as Mohammed Hassan, has H-index -39 and much less in 2018. Mohammed Hassan is the inventor of the the world's fastest (attosecond) electron microscope 2024, He demonstrated the fastest attosecond laser pulse in 2016, the attosecond optical switch in 2022.
I saw also an argument about his education. He got his PhD from the prestigious Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, Munich, Germany . His PhD supervisor is Ferenc Krausz (Nobel prize in Physics 2023). Then, he did his postdoc at the California Institute of Technology under the supervison of Ahmed Zewail (Nobel Prize 1999 in chemistry).
Hassan research on attosecond electron microscope and for the first time imaging the electron motion was all over the media in the last few weeks ( one week after the page deletion) , see https://scienceadvances.altmetric.com/details/147507143/news
Hence, I would ask you to reconsider the deletion of Mohammed Tharwat Hassan Page. Thanks! 2601:500:8785:9F90:E080:24C9:6B78:65FC (talk) 05:37, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

Just wondering…

Hi there X! You (correctly) closed this (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/African Entertainment Awards USA) discussion and I happened to stumble upon its “subpages” such as

and I was wondering if they could be deleted as “subpages” of the main article. Best, Reading Beans 14:43, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

@Reading Beans: Hi, these do not qualify for speedy deletion as subpages. They should have been bundled in the above AFD. They must go through a separate deletion discussion to get deleted. plicit 23:49, 25 September 2024 (UTC)

so first off, i was gonna put this in an, which sent me to an/i, which sent me to recently active admins, i went with you because you reply fast, if you know a better place to ask this please tell me...

so a few years back, i got indef-banned for, frankly, being a piece of shit...

but as i mentioned it's been a few years, and i feel like i've improved? on the WP:NOTHERE side, i've become what i swore to destroy (take this reddit comment i found that might explain it), on the maturity side... i was 12... not trying to excuse my actions, but... and finally take my inkipedia contributions, and this one singular edit i made here since, i guess??

so... can i come back to editing? 99.137.85.166 (talk) 06:18, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Well, by editing while logged out, you're already off to a bad start because you are evading your block, something your IP was blocked for nearly four years ago. Wikipedia does offer clean starts, but this would only apply if your account is not currently blocked. You have the option to log into your original account to appeal your block, but I can't guarantee you'll get the result you want due to the aforementioned block evasion. plicit 07:40, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi Explicit. This redirect was a blank-and-redirected article, so not eligible for WP:G8 unless its prior history was also eligible for speedy deletion. TfD Curlie

Thanks for closing TfD on {{Curlie}}. What happens next? Will someone have to go in and delete all 999 links to the template, or can it be setup for a friendly bot to do? I was typing up a WP:IAR - based move for this now WP:G8 talk page to a notional Draft:All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association when you deleted it.

Hi Explicit, I noticed you removed the WP:BLPPROD tag from this autobiography which has been unsourced for 17 years because "authority control links count" - but I'm not sure any of them meet the criteria of "reliable sources that support at least one statement made about the person in the biography". AusLondonder (talk) 14:42, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

I looked at the article & as of the moment it has yet to have even a single article...And must need to be deleted as speedy deletion policy.🌼𝓡𝓬 𝓡𝓪𝓶𝔃🍁 (talk) 00:16, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
@AusLondonder and Rc ramz: WP:BLPPROD policy states, "the entry must be a biography of a living person and contain no sources in any form (as references, external links, etc., reliable or otherwise)" (emphasis mine). This is double downed upon at WP:BLPPROD#Deleting and undeleting: "the {{prod blp/dated}} tag has been in place for at least seven days, and there were no supporting sources (regardless of reliability or form) when tagged" (emphasis mine). As long as the content is verifiable from a source or external link, it is not eligible for BLPPROD. plicit 00:37, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

(Apologies for not replying earlier - a vandal has broken my notifications.)
Yes I certainly do plan to use it. I had no idea what you meant by "REFUND doesn't apply" until I looked up "soft deletion" - I don't think that can be taken as meaning that is the only case where REFUND can be used. It's content which is not a copyvio, libel, BLP vio or breaking policy. It is I believe substantially or entirely written by me, and therefore my intellectual property (albeit licensed under CC-BY-SA). It would be egregious not to REFUND.
It might be worth putting some effort into a guideline for REFUND I suppose, as there are plenty of other cases where REFUND should be non-contentious, but it's not something I have time for at the moment.

After further research and updates, I believe that Jordan Halliday’s notability extends well beyond the original scope of the article, and I’d like to request a reconsideration for reinstatement.

Halliday is not only a notable figure due to his grand jury resistance but also for his extensive activism within the animal rights, anarchist, and prisoner support movements. Over the years, he has played a significant role in founding various organizations like the Animal Defense League of Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Animal Rights Project, and has recently become a full-time collective member at Food Empowerment Project in 2024.

I have compiled additional reliable sources and notable references that were not part of the original article, including his involvement in founding the Salt Lake City VegFest, his co-hosting of the Which Side Podcast, and his lectures and publications on critical animal studies, resistance, social justice, and activism.

I believe these updates will align the article with Wikipedia’s general notability guidelines (GNG) and include more well-rounded citations. I am happy to share this information in a draft or provide any specific sources you’d like to review.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Request to view/ move to draft the page Simon Messingham

Hi @Explicit,

I was wondering if you would consider moving the the page Simon Messingham to draft, or letting me see the contents. Several of his books (eg1, eg2) have wikipedia pages, and it seems the page was deleted because no one commented in support of keeping it.

Thank you very much. Horsers (talk) 12:49, 9 October 2024 (UTC)

WE League Season Page

Hi, I recently joined Wikipedia and I'm wondering about a page you (apparently) deleted, which was for the 2024-25 WE League season. I think the deletion was because the creator of the page was a banned/blocked user, given that's the rationale I received in the notice Wikipedia gave me when I started a new draft for the page. So I think your deletion may have had more to do who created rather than what was created.

Still, I just want to make sure it's alright if I create the page (and the notice said I should maybe check in with you). Last season, 23-24, had been listed as the "Current Season" on the main WE League page and as that ended back in May and we're well into the 3rd month of the 24-25, I updated it there for accuracy. I'll be keeping up with the season, know the official sites for information (e.g. the JFA's weleague.jp page), and would be happy to keep updating as the season progresses. There was a page made and maintained for last season so this seems to be something English wikipedia keeps track of (and as an international fan of the WE League, I can attest that there are many, many of us outside of Japan who are watching). Lowbackgroundsteel (talk) 04:54, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

@Lowbackgroundsteel: Hi, feel free to create the page. Pages deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#G5 apply to the sockpuppet's edits and have no bearing on that of others. plicit 05:54, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
Ok thanks! Lowbackgroundsteel (talk) 06:08, 13 October 2024 (UTC)

Understanding Page deletion

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this note. I didn’t see a direct message option, so please direct me for a better place to send this if not here. Basically, I was informed that a Wikipedia page had been created about me, almost 20 years ago at the height of my commercial photography career. I noticed many additions over the years, but over time, some old information that was no longer correct wasn’t being updated. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t fully understand how Wikipedia worked, but I recently tried to correct some of the outdated info, and add recent info/sited articles etc. Is it possible to correct/restore the page and make the needed changes that I may have caused in ignorance? There were links to my work being featured on Apple’s website, work showcased by Adobe in their pop-up gallery’s in NYC, and the one I tried to add myself was my photography being featured in Redbull’s permanent illume collection in Austria. Aside from all that, this was kind of a bummer for me to find out about, and the page meant a lot to me personally, and I had linked to it many times over the years as a reference/background for myself when working with companies. If nothing else, I would at least appreciate the page content. As I mentioned, it contained links to notable company’s who featured my work over the years, and artwork/photography of mine that Apple used, that I don’t even have access to anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. 🙏 Bsurflife (talk) 07:54, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi Explicit. I am writing to you because you were the last one who removed the article about Misho Amoli. Could you check if the information in the removed article was similar to this edition? Because I want to recover it, afer checking the notability and updating it since 2021. Greetings! Tajotep (talk) 17:51, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for closing Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2024 October 8#Template:2025 World Athletics Championships today. Could you please undelete the template and reopen the discussion for now? There were several unanswered comments made in the last 24 hours, and I don't think a delete closure is warranted yet as there was only one delete view (aside from nominator) and one keep view. Thanks, --Habst (talk) 18:34, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

@Habst: Hi, there really wasn't much else to argue here. The standard is that navigation templates require a minimum five blue links directly associated to the topic. In this case, 2025 World Athletics Championships. There is literally nothing else as of now. It is simply too soon. plicit 00:17, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
@Explicit, I think there is some misunderstanding, as I remember there were about 27 blue links that are directly associated with the '25 WC, namely the event specific links that will be contested there. There were actually zero red links because I used {{Link if exists}}. --Habst (talk) 12:12, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

File:Petco Park logo.svg

Hi Explicit. What's the best way to deal with something like File:Petco Park logo.svg? The originally uploaded version was certainly complex enough to need to be treated as non-free, but the recently updated version isn't. Ideally, it would've been better for the new versions to have been uploaded as a separate file to Commons instead of overwriting it, but the uploader just probably thought it updated version needed to be treated as non-free as well. The file is tagged with {{Orfurrev}}, but that will probably lead to both of the unused versions being deleted. Is it even worth requesting that this be split and WP:HISTMERGEd or would it be better just to let the bot delete both old versions (even the old PD-logo one)? -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:56, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, I deleted the earliest revision as orphaned since it is undoubtedly non-free. I transferred the text logo revisions to Commons. plicit 11:32, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for taking care of that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:03, 16 October 2024 (UTC)

Translation

Hey, are you any good at Korean translation? I'm looking at a source on a contentious subject and I want to make sure I'm not missing context with my admittedly imperfect Korean... let me know if you're willing to help, thanks! RachelTensions (talk) 03:49, 17 October 2024 (UTC)

@RachelTensions: Hi, it really depends on the topic, but I can give it a look. Would it happen to be related to Kim Woojin? I created that article. plicit 03:54, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
No we're good there (side note, Draft:I Like the Way (EP) is ready to go though: I submitted it to AfC so someone else can bump it over to mainspace because I'm not autopatrolled yet and I know if I create it myself directly it'll sit in the new page patrol queue for who knows how long... Draft:The Moment: Bounce is almost ready to go too)
This translation help relates to Michael Kim (businessman) - the subject of the article (or one of his representatives) has been whining on the talk page (with several socks, apparently) claiming that the whole section on tax penalty is inaccurate. I'm trying to do a little due diligence and flesh out the section to show a neutral POV if there might actually be an issue.
From the article: https://weekly.chosun.com/news/articleView.html?idxno=21828
From my interpretation, I see the last sentence being either "we’ve never been subject to additional taxes" or "we've never been subject to punishment". I want to make sure things are crystal clear due to the contention.
From your interpretation, do you see MBK Partners statement to The Chosun Ilbo as being a refute of their article's overall assertion that they had ever been fined 40 billion won by National Tax Service in the first place? Or do they mean something else by saying they've never been subject to "additional taxes"? RachelTensions (talk) 04:02, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Looks like someone just flipped Draft:I Like the Way (EP) over to mainspace for me so ignore that sidenote. I'll submit Draft:The Moment: Bounce shortly when the article is completed and the redirect is cleared out. RachelTensions (talk) 04:05, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
@RachelTensions: Oof, legal terminology. Since this is a BLP and I have my linguistic limits, my comment should be taken with a grain of salt and is best translated by a native Korean speaker. From my understanding, 추징을 당하다 in this context is to be levied by the government, so it seems that they're denying ever being demanded to pay the 40 billion won as a penalty. plicit 12:17, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for your help, I thought the same but I'll run it by a native speaker to make sure, given this is stemming from talk page demands from the article's subject that content be changed. RachelTensions (talk) 07:05, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Gotcha! I mean, you are quite efficient on this! I just logged on and about 3 minutes before the deletions and was reviewing the tags, but I understand that for a page with an "uncontroversial" speedy tag, that amount of time can seem like a long while. Thanks for restoring, working on correcting the edit histories now. Steel1943 (talk) 12:40, 18 October 2024 (UTC)
At this point, I have fixed the discrepancies caused by the edit histories being moved. I have also re-tagged these redirects for speedy deletion, including adding a WP:G7 tag to each. Thank you again for restoring these titles so I could fix the histories. Steel1943 (talk) 12:58, 18 October 2024 (UTC)

Can you please revisit your decision to decline the speedy deletion of the draft? Question

Hey, I would like to discuss the rejection of the speedy deletion you recently did- Is it because I did not mention criteria or because it does not meet the requirements? Thanks Cooldudeseven7 tea talk 14:14, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

Excuse me, I respectfully disagree it. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Isnotreal - this already is a page, and Wiktionary is owned by the same group as Wikipedia. Why is there one but not the other? Is Wikipedia a hypocrite? I think we should either keep both or delete both. Some people on the deletion page accuse this term to be made up, but if you go to Wiktionary, it will see the opposite! File:Subhasree Ganguly picture.jpeg

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:Subhasree Ganguly picture.jpeg? It seems that the uploader unintentionally nominated it for speedy deletion per WP:F7. I think they meant to add a copyright license but added {{Rnfu}} instead. FWIW, this clearly fails WP:FREER, and I was going to nominate for speedy deletion myself; however, I'm not sure what to do now since that's technically already been done by the uploader themselves. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:24, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, the tag was added by the upload wizard itself because the user indicated on the form that the non-free file is replaceable by freely licensed content. It is a regular occurrence and doesn't usually require intervention. plicit 11:43, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Isnotreal

I have already mentioned you once about you deleting the redirect Isnotreal again, to Israel. I read the deletion discussion and noticed that most people there were talking about the term not being a commonly used one, or an implausible redirect. However, it is well documented as the Wiktionary article will say, which does remain.

What are your thoughts about one project being well documented enough to include the term, while the other not enough to even be a redirect, not even one full article? Doesn't that seem like a hypocrite's behaviour?

Thank you. I know Wikipedia and Wiktionary to both be a neutral project, and this isn't as much about what I believe about Israel as it is if Wikipedia and Wiktionary are giving an accurate display of the content to cover. Lan Pee (talk) 05:13, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

@Lan Pee (talk page watcher) The deal with that is Wikipedia and Wiktionary are two separate projects with two separate communities and two separate (but, granted, related) goals in mind. Wikipedians are trying to build an encyclopedia, and so might be less inclined to include terms like "isnotreal." After all, if "isnotreal" turns out to lead to nowhere, most people are bright enough to type "Israel." Wiktionarians are trying to build a dictionary, and so might be inclined to include the term so as to define it. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:00, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Hello,

Upon reading more, I can see now that was the improper CSD. I think that it still could meet CSD under WP:F7 (unless I am misreading it and saying they only apply for press agencies? Depends how you interpret the "or") though it should hit WP:F5 shortly as it's no longer being used. In nay case I won't be nominating it officially as the uploader engaged in what I perceive as a threat so I'm backing out of official involvement. ~Darth StabroTalk/Contribs 17:47, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

File:User talk-Kevinulla.jpeg

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:User talk-Kevinulla.jpeg? It appears that you deleted a file with this same name back in 2010 per F11, and it might've been re-uploaded just today. It's not being used anywhere, but the name seems to imply it might be intended for use on the uploader's user page. There's also an old comment which seems to imply the uploader is the subject of the photo but not the copyright holder of the photo at User talk:Kevinulla#File permission problem with File:User talk-Kevinulla.jpeg from July 2020 that seems to be claiming fair use, but this would fail WP:NFCCP. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:36, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of File:MTG Mox Pearl Proxy.jpg

I understand that you have a job to do and all, but your deletion of File:MTG Mox Pearl Proxy.jpg was so quickly undertaken that I didn’t even have time to review it and possibly contest the CSD tagging. I assume (but obviously cannot verify) that the image was no longer being used by the article on proxy cards as it was originally created for. Had I had the chance to see what was going on, there is an extremely likely chance that I could have made a rational argument as to its continued existence on the service — which I am aware would have required me to argue fair use. However, there was not any time whatsoever to make such a case. I am aware of the WP:Bold policy but this was a little too hasty, IMO. — HiB2Bornot2B talk Go Big Blue! 17:53, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

It was copyrighted artwork by Florian de Gesincourt (despite you marking over the byline) and owned by Wizards of the Coast. In no manner did you "create this work entirely by myself" as you claimed. Not only did it not meet our policy for use of non-free content, it didn't probably didn't even meet the lower bar of fair use in the United States. That it took more than eight years for it to get noticed and deleted was a major failing on our part. —Cryptic 18:09, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

You'll have to prove that Dewasi has now been noted, which is difficult to do with the creation-protection being so high.
Perhaps more importantly, this is an article with a history of attracting undisclosed paid editors. If you are being paid to make this article, please disclose that as soon as you can, or you'll find yourself blocked. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 06:08, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
No sir, there is nothing like that. As I had written earlier on the talk page of 103.162.178.238, some unknown person had written an article about me. He had tampered with my data. Action was taken against him and that user was blocked. Who was Hashim crew.
I have not been paid in any way for creating Gaurav Dewasi's page nor will anyone pay because I am a BCA student and his real brother. I am just trying to lock his page once it is created so that no one can delete or tamper with it.My sole purpose was to collect information about Gaurav Devasi from Google and upload it on Wikipedia, I had no other purpose.
We are suffering the consequences of a mistake made by someone else. Please rest assured, we will try to improve Wikipedia to make it more effective.
Please request you to help us and provide us relief. 103.162.178.238 (talk) 06:27, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Wikipedia doesn't "lock" articles most of the time. It's certainly isn't done so only the person the article is about and their family can edit it. Believe it or not, it might be for the best that your brother doesn't have an article, so no one can mess around with the information like that. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 06:43, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
No sir, no such article has been written by him.
We are requesting your help. If you find anything wrong later, you can block us.
There is only one actor's Wikipedia from Rajasthan film industry, is it possible that there is only 1 actor in Rajasthan.
Gaurav Dewasi is also a notable person. With your help, it is completely possible to create his Wikipedia article. A lots of information available on google. 103.162.178.238 (talk) 07:06, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
I have to be honest. I really doubt an article will be created. It's been created so many times, that's it's been protected from being recreated by inexperienced users. That's pretty bad. I'm certainly not going to be the one writing the article.
But, it's late where I am. I'm going to bed. Perhaps Explicit has something to say, anyways. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 07:14, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Thank you sir.
We hope that you will help us. 103.162.178.238 (talk) 07:18, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
Sir, I will share information about them with you through email. You should create their page yourself so that we can make Wikipedia better. And a regional cinema actor will also be added to Wikipedia. We are waiting for your positive response 103.162.178.238 (talk) 11:10, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
Hello Sir
I create draft article for Gaurav Dewasi need to check & improve quality for batter wikipedia.. 103.162.178.238 (talk) 13:32, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

I suspect you may be getting fed up with this subject, and the constant harassment. The draft has been deliberately mis-named Draft:Gaurav Devasi, with a V instead of a W, to get around the create protection on drafts with the real name of Gaurav Dewasi, the name used in the infobox and the references.
The article Gaurav Dewasi has been deleted 5 times, including after an AFD, and Draft:Gaurav Dewasi 4 times before it was create protected. Personally, I think that gaming the system like this should be prevented and the draft deleted and salted. Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 10:55, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

I suspect the IP is block evasion by User:Amansharma111 who created Draft:Gourav Dewasi, a different misspelling to get around the create protection. - Arjayay (talk) 11:14, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
Hi Pls help me to avoid deleting the article
Gaurav Devasi is a regional cinema actor about whom a lot of information is available on Google. He also has a Google panel. His data has been tampered with by some unknown person due to which we are facing difficulty in creating the biography of the correct person.
Instead of targeting him for removal yourself, please help in bringing this artist to Wikipedia.
As it is necessary for all notable persons to be on Wikipedia, this artist is also demanding his rights. 223.189.93.106 (talk) 11:57, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
Draft deleted and IPs blocked. plicit 00:43, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

As a significant player in Bollywood and entertainment journalism, Koimoi has become a go-to resource for millions seeking reliable, up-to-date news on films, celebrities, and industry trends.

Koimoi is widely recognized in India as one of the most trusted sources in its field. Prominent Indian publications frequently reference Koimoi in their coverage of Bollywood and the entertainment industry. Some examples of this include articles by major publishers such as:

Additionally, Koimoi’s movie reviews are acknowledged by some of the most notable production houses, who have even featured Koimoi’s reviews in their promotional materials. Examples of this can be found in social media posts by major studios, including these posts:

Given Koimoi’s role and credibility within India’s entertainment landscape, we believe there may be a strong case for its notability on Wikipedia. I would be grateful if you could advise on any specific issues that need addressing to meet Wikipedia’s standards or if there’s potential for reconsidering this decision.

Thank you very much.~~~~ Krnagula (talk) 11:32, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

File:WTMD.jpg

Hi Explicit. Do you think the older version of File:WTMD.jpg needs to be deleted per F5? The file was uploaded yesterday, and the newer version seems to be clearly "PD-logo". It probably would've been better for the updater to not have overwritten the file, but it is what it is. If the older version isn't non-free, then the file probably should be split. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:31, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, none of the revisions contain a complex logo, so they don't need to be deleted as F5. I have restored the initial revision as well. plicit 11:34, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for checking on this. Do you think the file should be split so that there's a separate file for each version or will that be done by whoever moves the file to Commons? -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:01, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: I've split the histories on Commons into File:89.7 WTMD.jpg and File:89.7 WTMD logo.jpg. plicit 00:43, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for doing that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:45, 7 November 2024 (UTC)

Deleting Linux certification page is highly questionable for industry important OS, deletion unrelated to promotion, Linux is already well promoted.

Please take a notice that improving articles by adding citations , external sources changes in text and notices is considered positive and constructive , but deleting whole articles with removing their content from Wikipedia, especially frequently visited and industrial important and prominent could be considered destructive and not welcomed. It is always better to improve then to destroy and remove public access to the content. I wanted to get informed on Wikipedia on Linux certificates, because Linux is prominent OS and it's certification is world-recognized, so "promotion" is LESS important in the context of Linux importance and not recognizing the whole important of Linux is basically antisocial and toxic.
