Please restore WestNet Wireless Page

Numerous users have already emphasized the significant impact of WestNet's contributions throughout North America and to some extent the rest of the world. The restoration of this page is not merely important but essential, as it serves to chronicle some of the extensive innovations introduced by WestNet. By documenting these advancements, we ensure that future generations have access to a comprehensive historical context, recognizing the pivotal role WestNet has played in technological and societal progress. Hello, you deleted this file per F8, however I think it wasn't exactly the same. I don't think this version had the registred trademark symbol. Jonteemil (talk) 10:51, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

@Jonteemil: Hi, the file was exported directly from here, so the file history was the exact same locally and on Commons. Sreejithk2000 deleted the Commons file upon your history split request, but there was no followup. plicit 10:57, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
I could not complete the file split due to a software bug. I have filed it here: T369299. Lets wait for a resolution. --Sreejith K (talk) 14:37, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
I tried again today and it worked this time. I have moved the overwritten file to File:Boston Bruins (2).svg --Sreejith K (talk) 13:37, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi. If possible, could you please provide me a link to the revision of Template:SC Toronto coaches prior to deletion. My fault I didn't follow up at all with my merge request. The result of the discussion was to simply delete, but I was thinking merge for some reason. I have just now added a category to the managers navbox,[1] but I was wondering if there was something else in the coaches template that could've been merged. Thanks. --DB1729talk 11:24, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

@DB1729: Hi, I just compared the two templates and found only the following differences between the deleted template and the surviving template.
|name=SC Toronto coaches|name=SC Toronto managers
|managerlist=SC Toronto#Managerial history|managerlist=
{{collapsible option}}{{Navbox documentation}} Category:Canada soccer manager history navigational boxes

Got it. Thank you very much for your help! DB1729talk 23:41, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

NFCC issues

@Explicit, what here is even copyrightable? Shouldn't it just be relicensed as {{PD-simple}} and then we don't have to think about any NFC-related issues? Jonteemil (talk) 21:13, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

@Jonteemil: Please see the section about paintings regarding the threshold of originality in the United States: Even seemingly simple paintings consisting of geometric shapes are often copyrighted due to details that may not be immediately obvious to the viewer. It is likely that the brushstroke detail of File:Wojciech Fangor Black 4 1959.jpg is original enough to be protected by copyright. plicit 23:39, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
Fair enough. Seems quite strange but if that is the law then we must follow it. Jonteemil (talk) 00:03, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

File:An edited photo of Dr. Epitacio Ramos Tongohan, as provided by the poet himself.jpg

Hi Explicit. I believe you deleted File:An edited photo of Dr. Epitacio Ramos Tongohan, as provided by the poet himself.jpg as replaceable non-free use per WP:F7, but the uploader looks to have recreated the file's page by posting {{di-replaceable non-free use disputed}} on it. Techinically, page is now eligible for speedy deletion per WP:F2, but I figured I let you know about it before tagging it just in case you want to restore the file and let it be discussed at FFD instead. For reference, there is also another version of the same file uploaded as File:Photo of Dr. Epitacio Ramos Tongohan aka Doc PenPen Bugtong Takipsilim.jpg, and I don't think two versions of what's essentially the same non-free file are not needed regardless of whether you decide to restore this one. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:49, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, I don't see much need for any action outside of the F2 deletion that I have already carried out. This non-free file is a textbook violation of WP:NFCC#1. plicit 23:39, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for taking a look. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:23, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

John Derian

Hello, can you put the contents of the article that was deleted here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Derian to Draft:John Derian? I want to take a look at what existed there and possibly use some of the material for John Derian, but I would prefer not to tie the two article histories together. Thank you, Thriley (talk) 18:17, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

@Thriley: Hi, just to make sure, are you more or less asking for the deleted history of John Derian to be restored to the history of Draft:John Derian? The page looked like this right before deletion, if that helps. plicit 00:29, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
Yes. Looks like there’s not much in the old version to use. Thank you for your help. Thriley (talk) 14:29, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Could you undelete Flag of Tallahassee, Florida for attribution reasons, as content from the page was merged into Tallahassee, Florida with Special:Diff/357102867? The article was originally deleted as a redirect to a now-deleted article, so I guess I'll re-redirect it to Tallahasse, Florida and add a note on the talk page. Thanks! File:Anto Lecky in 2021.jpeg

Hi Explicit. Since you're also a Commons administrator, I thought I'd ask you about File:Anto Lecky in 2021.jpeg. First of all, the source information and license don't seem correct given that the file appears to be a duplicate of File:Anto Lecky at the movie premiere of 'Dear Affy' in 2020.jpg that was being used in ig:Anto Lecky. Secondly, I tagged the Commons for with "npd" because it seems really unlikely that the uploader is also the copyright holder; I did this not just because of the similarity of the uploader's name and the photo subject's name but also because of this. Anyway, I'm wondering whether the local file should be tagged for speedy deletion too or simply left as is until the Commons file is sorted out. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:15, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, you can go head and tag the local file as lacking permission as well. When the subject of a picture uploads their own portrait, they're usually under the assumption that they own the copyright of the photo because they're in it. plicit 03:37, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
THanks for taking a look at this. I've tagged the local with "npd". -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:10, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Deletion of the Prem Poddar page

Hello,

I understand you deleted the Prem Poddar page to which I had contributed. New to Wikipedia: any chance you could explain why the whole thing had to go? Thanks. Aliceinlondon (talk) 08:22, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

@Aliceinlondon: Hi, another contributor proposed the Prem Poddar article for deletion as they believed that the subject "does not meet criteria for notability". This generally refers to the general notability guideline. You can read that page to better understand that user's actions. If you contested the page's deletion, you can request undeletion at WP:REFUND. plicit 23:54, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

File:Dr. Epitacio Tongohan with Indian Prime Minister Narendra D. Modi.jpg

Hi Explicit. Can you check whether File:An edited photo of Dr. Epitacio Ramos Tongohan, as provided by the poet himself.jpg is the same as File:Dr. Epitacio Tongohan with Indian Prime Minister Narendra D. Modi.jpg? I don't remember what the deleted file was and think it might be different but jsut want to double check. If there not the same, I'm pretty sure the latest non-free one also fails WP:FREER given that (1) the subject is still alive and (2) File:Dr. Epitacio R. Tongohan and the government officials of Tanay LGU.jpg exist. The non-free one also fails WP:NFC#CS as well in my opinion, but I'm sure whether that needs to be discussed at FFD. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:50, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, the deleted image is not the same as the new non-free image. It's another textbook violation of WP:NFCC#1. plicit 01:09, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look at this. I tagged the file for speedy deletion per F7. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:22, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

File:Hcalvinasgarcia.jpg

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:Hcalvinasgarcia.jpg and Henry Calvin. You removed the file in question from the article with this edit in January 2023, but it was re-added about a year later here. The person who re-added the file didn't provide a corresponding nfur for the use on the file's page; so, the file has been in violation of NFCC#10c since it was re-added but has. for some reason, not been noticed by one of the bots looking for such files. Anyway, I could just remove the file per WP:NFCCE but that might just encourage someone to re-add it after adding a rationale. Does this now need to go to FFD for discussion since only one use of the file is being disputed and the file was previously removed per {{di-disputed non-free use rationale}}? Is that type of removal considered equivalent to a "soft deletion"? -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:51, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, I would suggest nominating it for discussion at FFD. I'm not convinced the file is justified in Zorro (1957 TV series) either, as it is not subject to sourced critical commentary and should probably be deleted altogether. plicit 01:09, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look at this. I've started a discussion about the file's uses at FFD. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:24, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

Deletion of photo

Hi @Explicit

Today you deleted File:KenyaGrace.jpg but I did respond in time with the reason why it should stay (see below). Please can you let me know your thought process? Should I reupload it from scratch, putting the following? Just let me know what's needed please :)

{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|I looked online but the only other photos of her that I could find were on sale from Getty Images and Alamy. The photo that I used was taken directly from her own website where she is promoting her works. I would consider contacting the artist or her representatives to request copyright permission, however given that there appear to be no other free images of her available I would instead further the view that this image is not replaceable}}

Thanks Control-alt-delete ★ usertalkfavs 16:21, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

@Control-alt-delete: Hi, our non-free content criteria policy is incredibly strict in regards to using a non-free photo in an article about a living individual. Although a freely licensed image of the individual may not exist at the moment, it is possible that one can be created as long as the person is alive. As such, most non-free photos of living individuals fail WP:NFCC#1. plicit 23:54, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Cover arts

Hi again. I hope you're doing well. Could you please tell me if this works the way i think it does? When we use a non-free album cover on Wikipedia where the album itself is the topic of the article, it is justified as fair use by WP:NFC#CS. Now, I thought that if permission from the copyright holder is obtained, it can be used freely, but apparently that is not the case, [2], [3]. Could you tell me what would happen if we obtained permission to use non-free cover art and then deliberately used a rescaled version, that is, 300x300 pixels? Wouldn't that satisfy both conditions? Neither is needed nor am i asking this for when albums themselves are the topic of the article, but for when we wish to use them in an article where they are not the topic, or much better for alternative covers that can be inserted using the template extra album cover.

A while back, we had this discussion about a cover art, right? So that day, i contacted the copyright holder, CoMix Wave, seeking permission. It took a while, but a few days ago they replied and have refused because the cover art is an excerpt of the film poster and was included as a bonus with the film, and they have stated that the article is already using a cover of the film. Additionally, they have also stated that they cannot provide permission because they should not be involved in editing the wiki's page. I believe this stems from them being aware of WP:COI. I have sent a follow-up message clarifying some things. So, if permission is obtained and verified by the steps listed in WP:PERMISSION, can a lower resolution of 300x300 be used? Because I'm sure obtaining permission rules out any copyright issues. Or is there something that i still fail to understand? Lunar-akauntotalk 05:02, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

@Lunar-akaunto: Hi, freely licensed album cover can be used in any article. There would be no limitations regarding its use in certain articles and there is not need to scale them down because the copyright holder would have granted the use of their work. The first link you provided specifically deals with files that do not allow commercial use, like {{cc-by-nc-2.0}}. Such files are subject to speedy deletion in accordance with WP:CSD#F3. plicit 01:09, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Oh. I see. So, potentially, if the permission for cover art is granted and i add it to the soundtrack section of the article, that would be subject to deletion, right? Lunar-akauntotalk 02:34, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) In general, non-free album cover art isn't allowed to be used in "Soundtrack" subsections of stand-alone articles about films per WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and WP:FILMSCORE, and any type of CC-by-NC or CC-by-ND type of license isn't free enough for Wikipedia's purposes and needs to be treated as non-free content. Freely licensed (e.g. CC-by-SA) or public domain album cover art isn't, on the other hand, subject to the same restrictions as non-free album covers are and can, in principle, be used in such sections from a WP:COPY#Guidelines for images and other media files standpoint. It's important to understand, though, image use is much like text in that it's also subject WP:CONSENSUS; so, an image being free enough for Wikipedia's purposes from a copyright standpoint doesn't automatically mean it should be used from an encyclopedic standpoint. If, for example, there is a stand-alone article written about the soundtrack album, then using it a second time in the "Soundtrack" section of the film's artice might be seen as unncessary for encyclopedic reasons. Such a file won't necessary be deleted, but it might end up not being used because unless there's a consensus established to do so. When it comes to soundtrack cover art, WikiProject Film seems to have established a guideline stating that soundtrack cover art not be used in soundtrack sections for encyclopedic reasons even when the cover art isn't non-free content. If you want to know why that's the case, you'll probably need to ask at WT:FILM. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:18, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: I'll try asking at WT:FILM, but i was asking this in general context and not films exclusively. I understand that just being freely licensed or complying with WP:NFC#CS doesn't mean the image can be used in several articles. I encountered something similar at Vinland Saga (TV series); the image satisfied contextual significance because of adequate commentary, but my conscience was that it should be removed from there since a separate soundtrack was created using the cover. I respect the community-wide consensus, but i presume that the fundamental reason behind these consensuses is to prevent any legal trouble from the copyright holders and not infringe authors' rights—when appropriate, there exists WP:NFC#CS. Now, I'm sure that if Wikipedia just used full-resolution images, that would certainly satisfy the contextual claim, but essentially, we'd then become a host for piracy, which is precisely why we rescale those images to lower resolution, right? I thought that if permission were obtained, the imag would be free from the restrictions of point 1 and rescaling it would satisfy point 2. Do you understand? Lunar-akauntotalk 10:42, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
@Marchjuly: Where did you go? What do i make of this cover art situation now? Lunar-akauntotalk 03:14, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
I didn't go anywhere. I just don't feel I need be like Lurch and respond everytime some rings the bell, particularly when I don't really understand what the question is. I wasn't around when Wikipedia's non-free content use policy was created; so, I don't really know how to answer abstract questions about why Wikipedia policy is what it is. Perhaps the answers you're looking for can be found buried in the archives of WT:NFCC or in the archives of WP:VPP. Given also that this is Explicit's user talk page, it's probably better to try and discuss more general policy related things on the relevant policy's talk page, which in this case is the aforementioned WT:NFCC. There are some people who were around when the policy was hammered out still actively editing, and perhaps one of them can provide you with the information you're looking for. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:45, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
Oh. Apologies, I only pinged you because you replied earlier, so i thought you'd continue the conversation. I'll try looking for an answer in the archives. I understand that it's not a very good thing to do to have discussions on someone else's talk page, as they'll get notifications every time i do so. Just a thing: I only came here because Explicit primarily works in the related area, and more importantly, because in the past i have posted some general doubts on Wikiprojects' talk pages, and till date there hasn't been any reply, so i prefer user talk pages over those. That is all. I'll be off then. Good day. Lunar-akauntotalk 15:02, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
I apologize to you if my response was snarky. I just didn't know how to answer your questions. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:34, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

Hello Explicit. Since you messaged me at Commons about this user, I felt it is best to ask something about that user's uploading habit.

File:Manmohanmisra.jpeg

Hi Explicit. Can you tell whether File:Manmohanmisra.jpeg is the same as File:Manmohanmisra for wikipedia.jpg? You deleted the latter file in November 2023 per F11, and the other one was just uploaded today and has the same issue. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:01, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, yes, they are the exact same image. plicit 20:59, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for checking on this. What happens if this happens again? Do any further reuploads of this file just keep getting tagged for speedy deletion per G11 (assuming that's the issue)? Should I advise the uploader not to reupload this again if this one also ends up deleted? -- Marchjuly (talk) 19:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

File:Shahmee Saheedh.jpg

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:Shahmee Saheedh.jpg? This same file was uploaded locally under tha same name, but you deleted it per F9. The uploader then seems to have reuploaded it to Commons under a {{PD-US}} license, which clearly seems just as wrong as the {{PD-because}} they used for the local file. I don't remember the url provided as a source for the local file; so, I'm wondering whether you could check the file in your capacitiy as a Commons admin and delete it, tagged it or otherwise nominate it for deletion as you see fit. I tried to point out c:COM:NETCOPYVIO to the uploader at User talk:Abdullah Rifath#Speedy deletion nomination of File:Shahmee Saheedh.jpg, but perhaps they didn't understand or see that post. FWIW, they might also not understand c:COM:Own work given File:DT Breaking News.png. That file might be OK to relicense, but it's not being used and there's no way to figure out where it came from. -- Marchjuly (talk) 20:09, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi Explicit, I apologize for delaying noticing this deletion, but I was not around for some personal issues. File:Nokweed Devy Three Raja.jpeg

Hello, I have less than a month of experience on Wikipedia so take it easy on me as I’m trying to understand. Why was this photo deleted when File:Vicharnnoi 1976 low qual.png, File:Pudpadnoi 1971.png, File:Saenklai Sit Kru Od with Lumpinee Stadium belt.jpg, and File:Namkabuan Nongkeepahuyuth 1993.jpg were already on Wikipedia to begin with? The image I sent would’ve been “first published outside the United States (and not published in the U.S. within 30 days)”, used “to provide visual identification of one or more specific individual”, “where the individual(s) concerned are deceased”, and “for whom there is no known representation under a 'free' license”? Doesn’t that qualify it for fair-use or even public domain? Thanks. Briantcraven (talk) 00:58, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

@Briantcraven: Hi, File:Nokweed Devy Three Raja.jpeg was deleted because the description page did not contain the copyright status of the image. The onus does not fall on anyone other than the uploader to provide that information. See the File copyright tags tags for further information. plicit 02:49, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

Deletion of SolarX page

Hello, I'd like to appeal the decision to delete the SolarX page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/SolarX

This artist is in fact quite notable in the electronic music world. Some sources to substantiate this claim:

Hello, I wanted to add to this discussion. Please, undelete the article for:
The subject received significant coverage in 1995-2000 in the form of interviews and dedicated articles in the main music newspapers and magazines, such as NME[12], The Face[13], Mixmag[14], De:Bug and many others.
Not all of these old sources are available online, but are available in libraries and some can be bought (e.g. see interview in this issue [15]).
For these old sources, please note the condition WP:NEXIST.
The existence of more recent interviews and re-releases of 30 years old albums [16] is a sign of WP:NSUSTAINED.
These and other sources mentioned earlier are independent of the subject and are not WP:SPIP.
All this is evidence for WP:GNG.
This deletion is a clear case of WP:OZD and WP:INVALID. Please, observe also the WP rules WP:DOUBT (When in doubt, don't delete. See the editors expressing doubts during the discussion) and WP:RUSH (What's the rush?). GardenWise (talk) 15:18, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
@Techno-rulez and GardenWise: Sorry, but as the page was deleted as a result of a deletion discussion, I cannot unilaterally undelete the page. You are free to work on a draft and submit your work for review at Articles for creation. Additionally, sock or meatpuppetry will not help your case. plicit 02:49, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
Dear Explicit. I can't edit from where I am as WP blocks my IPs. There is no need to write a new page if somebody had already written it years ago. It is eniterly up to you as administrator whether to delete or undelete a page WP:ADMINGUIDE/D. You may focus on IPs and user status or simply look at the facts and sources. There is a well known history written for example in this book [17], Chapter XI. Criteria 1, 7 for WP:BAND and 1-5 for WP:NMUSICOTHER are satisfied. GardenWise (talk) 22:16, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
@GardenWise: The deleted article was a single, unsourced sentence. You are better off simply writing the page from scratch. plicit 00:56, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

File:2022-11-07 07-54-58-PMHeadshot SaladdinAhmed-.jpg

Hi Explicit. Would you mind taking a look at File:2022-11-07 07-54-58-PMHeadshot SaladdinAhmed-.jpg? I tagged the file for speedy deletion per F11 on August 5, and the uploader seems to have made a G7 request with this edit but not sure. The file went without a copyright license until earlier today when it was tagged for speedy deletion per F4. Either way, I guess the file will end up deleted so maybe there's nothing to do but wait.

Since you're a Commons admin, I'm wondering if you could also look at File:Drew Garvie.png. This was uploaded by the same uploader (only to Commons) and has the same issue. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:59, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, I have deleted the first file for lacking permission. The Commons file is a day away from deletion for the same reason, so we can just let that process play out. plicit 00:56, 18 August 2024 (UTC)

File:김혜윤 Airport Departure in 06082024.jpg

Hi Explicit. Could you take a look at this File:김혜윤 Airport Departure in 06082024.jpg? It would fail WP:FREER if it needs to be treated as non-free, but the YouTube source provided for the video seems to be licensed under an acceptable free license. The video is in Korean and it looks like it original content uploaded by some kind of media organization. If the YT license is OK, the screenshot should be OK to convert to tag for a move to Commons and relicense as c:Template:YouTube. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:23, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

@Marchjuly: Hi, licensing of videos from Ten Asia are fine. Amihans uploaded a slightly retouched version on Commons as File:김혜윤 Airport Departure 06082024.jpg, so the local version doesn't quite qualify for WP:CSD#F8. I guess it can just be left alone and fall into the abyss next week. plicit 02:27, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for taking a look. FWIW, when I posted the above, the file was licensed as non-free; the uploader subsequenty changed that to a free license. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:30, 23 August 2024 (UTC)

In that discussion, it seems those who were advocating for keeping Zelda 3, Zelda III, Zelda 5, and Zelda V were also advocating for keeping Zelda 4 and Zelda IV. Please explain deletion

Hi, you deleted File:1966 Official Lebanese Map of Shebaa Farms and Syrian border.png without explanation, even though I showed in the original listing (visible [here]) that it is a perfect match to "a controversial map of a disputed territory, if the controversy is discussed in the article" that is a stated exception to WP:NFC#UUI, criterion 4. Please explain.

Besides that, there is something amiss with the way you relisted the file without giving a link to the existing discussion. That earlier discussion didn't suddenly become irrelevant, and the relisting doesn't even state the proposed reason for deletion. Am I missing something? Zerotalk 09:57, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

@Zero0000: Hi, the file was deleted in accordance with the clear consensus at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2024 August 18#File:1966 Official Lebanese Map of Shebaa Farms and Syrian border.png. That's not "without explanation". WP:NFC#UUI suggests a non-free map "may be appropriate " (emphasis mine). It is not a guarantee. Said map would still need to meet all the criteria of WP:NFCC, which participants felt it did not.
I'm not sure what issue you're taking with the relisting. The original log page reads, "relisted on 2024 August 18." It links to the new location of the discussion. That is the standard at FFD, WP:TFD, and WP:RFD. plicit 10:26, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

Hi, Explicit. I happened to notice off chance (after looking at my AfD stats just now) that there's a bit of a situation involving Mac Clark. I nominated the article at AfD last October with a result to send to draftspace. The article was then recreated by User:Mario Silvas, apparently not aware that the previous article still existed in draft. The draft was then pruned due to inactivity by you two days ago.

Without regard as to whether the subject has met GNG since October, the last AfD resulted in a consensus to at least keep the attribution history. If MS had been aware of the draft, I'm sure he would have just moved it out if he feels the subject has met GNG. Dear Explicit,

as far as I remember, you were the main party behind the deletion of my 180+ article creations (primarily redirects, but also a sidebar, some drafts, my sandbox etc.). Now that I have been fully exonerated, I'd like to request you to undelete all of these as well. I'm sure there was no bad faith involved, but still.

Since they had almost all been reviewed before, I hope this won't be necessary again this time around; IDK.

As for exceptions... I do remember (1.) making a spelling error in a variant redirect of "The Public Discourse" and (2.) Conservative Philosopher wanted his user page deleted anyways (*I, mistakenly, had commented there because I wanted to find out why so few right-leaning editors stay on WP...).

@Biohistorian15: Hi, I have restored most of the pages. User:Biohistorian15/common.js and User:Biohistorian15/vector-2022.js can not be restored by administrators, I believe requests for undeletion are made at WP:IANB. plicit 01:21, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
That's fine, thank you. If you could patrol these pages for me that would be extra helpful (*after all, they had almost all been reviewed before...), but I'll probably survive either way. Biohistorian15 (talk) 16:06, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Rick Ferrari

Hello Explicit, I'm writing regarding the following page which was deleted to see if you can bring it back so I can resume editing? I was working on it but then had to go off line for many months. Thank you! 12:19, 24 June 2024 Explicit talk contribs deleted page Draft:Rick Ferrari BuddhaBassist (talk) 02:56, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

@BuddhaBassist: Done – as a draft or Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13, the page has been restored upon request. They are not for the indefinite hosting of material that is unsuitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for inclusion, prior to another six months elapsing. plicit 03:25, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Southport stabbing redirect

Hi, Explicit – just a courtesy note to say I've created a redirect at Southport stabbing following your deletion citing G5. Not at all contesting your deletion, but my rationale for creating the redirect is in the edit summary. Thanks! MIDI (talk) 09:18, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Pakistan Champions and the like...

These do not need to be RfD'ed, can some common sense not be applied? Nobody in their right mind searches for "Pakistan Champions" when searching for Pakistan national cricket team. What are they champions of? Cricket, knitting, juggling ice cream on their heads? If it wasn't for an administrative oversight which has allowed this ridiculous redirect to go unnoticed, it wouldn't exist. It is a complete waste of time directing people's efforts to an RfD when it and the other "Blah Champions" are implausible redirects. AA (talk) 16:04, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed that the page for the pro e-sports player Tekken Master was deleted because it does not meet Wiki standards. While I don't know all of them, I would like to humbly request the page to be un-deleted and I promise to edit it so that it meets the Wiki standards, it would also be of great help if you could pin point to me what broke the Wiki rules so I can edit it more thoroughly and address the issue from its roots.

I remember editing the page a while ago and adding more pictures of the player, I suspect it might be that. If it is, I apologize and would like the opportunity to amend my mistakes by editing the page to make it meet Wiki's standards if you can kindly un-delete it and allow me to fix it.

Thanks in advance. Yuniac (talk) 08:32, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

@Yuniac: Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request. plicit 12:25, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
Thank you!
I have updated the page now: I removed 2 pictures, as the page had a lot, understandably. I have also added a few more things about the career of the player, factual things that has happened.
Could you please check the page again and tell me if is it okay now to remove the maintenance tag? and if not, may I know what is needed to change in order to remove the tag?
Thank you so much for your time. Yuniac (talk) 18:00, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello Explicit,

You have recently deleted the article mentioned above. There were two delete votes and one user who didn't explicitly vote, but whose comment I interpret as being in favor of keep (the same user commented on other related discussions with similar arguments in favor of keeping). The delete votes basically sum up to "we don't need this". As has been noted in the closing comments of some of the other related deletion discussions that resulted in keeps, like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Eureka Stockade defenders, this is a weak argument. To quote Liz, who closed that discussion: I'm closing this as a default Keep as those arguing for Deletion are basically saying the article should be deleted because it is an unnecessary article which is not a strong deletion argument. Those advocating Keep argued based on policy (WP:NLIST) and claim sourcing is sufficient which I found more persuasive. I'll just add that I've closed quite a few AFDs on Eureka, mostly as Delete, but this discussion had more supporters than the others did.

Liz mentions the number of votes as one reason for the result. I already mentioned that I think this was 2 vs. 1, which isn't exactly clear cut. I also want to say that I would have voted on this AfD (and others), but I didn't see them in time. I also agree with Liz that some of those other articles were deleted correctly; but this isn't one of them.

I don't know what the article said, but the topic is definitely notable. There have been a number of publications about this topic, including Lyng's "Non-Britishers in Australia. Influence on Population and Progress" (1935), Turner's "Our own little rebellion: the story of the Eureka stockade" (1913), Pyke's "Some Leading Aspects of Foreign Immigration in the Goldfields" (1946), and Bodi's "Literature, politics, cultural identity" (2002), just to mention a few.

Would you agree to undelete the article, so that it can be relisted for further discussion? Renerpho (talk) 23:36, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

@Renerpho: Hi, first, the deletion discussions and topics are completely different. One was about a list article which which received several "keep" !votes when examined against WP:NLIST, while the other was purely prose that that participants agreed was a WP:CFORK. Characterizing the discussion as amounting to nothing more than "I don't like it" is disingenuous. Regardless of the non-vote by Robbiegibbons, they did not provide any substance that could be interpreted as making an argument supported by policy or guideline. In fact, they provided mere "other stuff exists" arguments. Cherry picking a single AFD that resulted in keep, when eight other of the fourteen currently listed at User:Gonzo fan2007/Eureka resulted in delete, doesn't sway me very much.
No one at the deletion discussion argued that the topic wasn't notable, they argued that a spin-off article was not justified. This issue still has not been addressed. plicit 04:35, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Request for undeletion

Recently, you deleted the following pages:

They are pages used by the testcases at Template:MLB standings/testcases. Can you please restore the pages? Thanks for your consideration in this matter. isaacl (talk) 15:14, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

@Isaacl: The first three testcases are copies of Template:MLB standings/testcases/2011 NL Central standings, Template:MLB standings/testcases/2013 AL Wild Card standings, and Template:MLB standings/testcases/2022 AL Wild Card standings. Is there a reason the duplicates are needed? The rest are available without the /sandbox subpage, so Template:MLB standings/testcases/2023 AL East standings and so on. plicit 03:26, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
The MLB standings template is used to create season-specific standings templates. Thus I have created sample standings templates that use the in-production template and the sandbox template, so testcases can test the sample standings templates with various parameters supported by them, and the results can be compared between the in-production template and the sandbox template. The samples using the sandbox template are beneath the sandbox page. isaacl (talk) 07:01, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
@Isaacl: Very well, I have restored the remaining three subpages. plicit 04:35, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks; I appreciate your time and effort. isaacl (talk) 04:43, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

This template was erroneously subst'd and then deleted after becoming orphaned. Please restore so it. can be inserted into its parent article. Thank you. Useddenim (talk) 23:04, 10 September 2024 (UTC)

@Useddenim: From what I can tell, this template was never used on LaSalle Street Station, so there was nothing to substitute. Was it used elsewhere? plicit 23:57, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
@Explicit: I'm not sure because I didn't notice the TfD until after it had closed. Does it resemble the current diagram at LaSalle Street Station (in the Inbox under "Track layout")? Useddenim (talk) 01:06, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
@Useddenim: The design of the deleted template is about half the resolution and does not contain any numbers, but the layout is otherwise the same. plicit 03:48, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
@Explicit: So then it's probably an old version of what was finally inserted into the infobox. Given that the general policy is for route diagrams to be separate templates, should the old template be restored and updated to the current diagram (preserving the history), or should it be extracted and created anew? Useddenim (talk) 04:31, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
@Useddenim: The current layout was added here by Hotdog with ketchup. About 37 hours after that edit, Template:LaSalle Street Station was created by AlphaBeta135. Since the template was created later and appears to be independent from the one in the article, I'm not seeing an attribution issue. It seems that it was created and abandoned once the creator realized they were a little too late and the layout had already been inserted without a separate diagram template. plicit 04:47, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
@Explicit: Okay then; case closed. Thanks for checking. Useddenim (talk) 04:48, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Hiller Air Tug deletion

I believe this was deleted in error.

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hiller Air Tug

It was a novel concept that influenced other designs and was referenced in two journal articles.

The citations were academic articles and the original report to NASA(accessible via interlibrary loan).

If more media is required I could provide diagrams etc. JPelham (talk) 14:42, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Reasoning behind the edit you reverted

I noticed that you reverted my edit on Dongducheon station. The reason why I put it in the "Railway stations in South Korea opened in 1912" category is because railway station categories are named after the territories and countries they currently reside in. As in, this railway station currently resides in South Korea but was opened in 1912. I hope this makes sense, but please let me know if this is wrong. - OpalYosutebito (talk) 16:27, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
