What is Around the World?
It's a collaboration!
A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!
The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Wikipedia) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."
The set of pages we are working is currently located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.
Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Wikipedia. When completed, they shall all become part of Wikipedia's contents system.
The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!
For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees. :) The energy is contagious.
And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.
The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.
Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.
Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators. - The Transhumanist 01:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
WP:HAU, Status, and you!
As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible) system - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 22:46, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
okay
Why did you revert my edit. I have proof on on everything I did. Btw, the whole thing with the Golden Gloves that did happend. My uncle was in the 1977 Golden Gloves final match , and he was in the ring against some other guy. My uncle knocked that guy out , but "Mr Cook" gave the other guy the victory and he went to the national Golden Gloves tournament. Thats is no b.s. right there.--Rio de oro (talk) 14:24, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

- I'm going to sue you for 1 million dollars when you reverted my edits. --70.132.207.67 (talk) 23:22, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey there. The paragraph in the article which you've labeled as a possible copyright violation is the text from the book's back cover. I've seen these reproduced on other book articles, and I'm not sure whether it's a copyvio or not, hence this message. Ottens (talk) 12:16, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well then it's not a possible copyright violation, it's a definite copyright violation, and an unsourced one to boot. If credited, you could quote a bit of that text but the article needs a description written by a Wikipedia editor, not the publisher of the book. - Dravecky (talk) 16:55, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- It's STILL unsourced. You're taking this person's word for it. Also, actually looking at the book constitutes original research. Now, an article properly cited from a notable publication ABOUT the back cover of the book would be another thing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.163.65.123 (talk) 07:36, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- According to WP:OR, original research "includes unpublished facts, arguments, speculation, and ideas; and any unpublished analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position." Merely repeating the jacket blurb from the back of a book, which is by definition a published source, does not represent an analysis or synthesis of that material. And I'm not taking his "word" for this--a quick Google shows that it is indeed the jacket copy. I've just tried to give him a few days to fix the problems rather than go in with a chainsaw to hack out sections.
- On another subject, please do not leave messages on my archived talk pages. If you want to leave a message, my active talk page is the place to do it. I still don't understand your apparent anger directed at me over the Chad Dukes discussions since I was one of the few actively working to save those articles. - Dravecky (talk) 07:53, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up; I suspect that Schatzberg is a sock puppet of blocked user Ebfilms. I have not done anything because Schatzberg is behaving properly (more or less, unlike Ebfilms) but I am keeping an eye on him. Any how I would recommend that you check out the discussion here just so that you can keep a context to what I see going on. Oh and P.S. I do think lack of references is a reason for PROD especially for Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. the PROD is easily removed and is more likely to proper refs being supplied than ref-improve. If no refs have been supplied in the 5 days then it should go. Just my 2₠. --triwbe (talk) 07:51, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- I suspected that Schatzberg was a sockpuppet of somebody, given the highly unusual editing pattern. I agree that a completely unreferenced article could be a target of a prod tag after a period of time, say a week or so, with unref or ref-improve tags had passed but to prod tag an article with some valid references that has only just been created or not allowed a reasonable time for improvement is over the line, at least in my opinion. - Dravecky (talk) 08:01, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
You suspect incorrectly. I'm an 81 year old film director from NYC, with a vast knowledge of film, and I know that there are tons of filmographies on here that simply do not belong. There are many inconsistencies here, especially on the Bogdanovich page, as well as the Orson Welles page---which I plan on editing later in the week. I will add many things about Welles, a personal friend which not many people are aware of. Perhaps one of you younger tech people can help me clean up Peter's page as well. This is a place for editing --correct? Well, it's also a place for deleting articles that don't belong. Regards. Schatzberg (talk) 09:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Note: This editor was later blocked as a sockpuppet of another banned editor. -Dravecky (talk) 05:27, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Stub
That's why I put it back as just "movie" because the stub that you had didn't exist. That's the only reason why I changed your edit. When you undid mine, it just put it back as a red link. But you fixed it so it's all good now. --- Fantasy Dragon (talk) 20:24, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry about that. I've been deep in stub sorting for two days and didn't notice my typo until you reverted it. It's all good now and I apologize for any misunderstanding. (This reply also posted to your talk page.) - Dravecky (talk) 20:29, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Click and Clack
hello. after following the link you provided, i was unable to find anything validating the claim that the piece is actually titled William Tell Overture. if i'm missing something, please let me know, but the allusion, ....It was the Denton polka band’s version of “William Tell Overture,” and Grossman heard it while..... say's nothing of the title. - Well, that was quickly resolved. Why these sockpuppets keep popping up to attack this one indie film director is a mystery. - Dravecky (talk) 20:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Was this replacement at your local level or was it the national feed? I'd try to verify with my own PBS affiliate but they've bumped the series for at least a week to they can show "Celtic Woman" for the jillionth time as pledge programming. A source for reference would sure be handy, if available. - Dravecky (talk) 05:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know how to pull up a schedule of something that has already aired, but the schedules I'm seeing on the PBS station finder of a few areas concerning the late-night repeats list the title of the first new episode, but list nothing for the second slot. So, I assume this is a national last-minute change, oddly. 67.186.163.48 (talk)
- I checked the official website episode guide and, sure enough, it lists "Abercrombie and Wrench" and "Campaign" as this week's episodes. I've updated the pages based on the new schedule, courtesy of Alabama Public Television. - Dravecky (talk) 06:42, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
FYI - You're debating what belongs in the article and what doesn't with someone in management there. --Winger84 (talk) 23:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Assuming you're really who you claim to be, are you saying I should add the "conflict of interest" tag to the article if this unsourced apparent vandalism continues? Noted. (And if the station really has changed its logo and slogan, why is the station's website still displaying the old info?) - Dravecky (talk) 00:09, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- As I explained on another editor's page, it is not COI if I am merely removing inaccurate information. That is simply being watchful of my brand. If I were adding information without sources, that would be COI. The website still displays certain information because we are extremely short-staffed right now and that particular item is not high on our list of priorities. However, if you'd like to email me off-Wiki and ask me to change something on the website to verify who I am, I'd be more than happy to do so, as long as it is an item that I can change in our web software without my I.T. guy's clearance level.
- By the way, "vandalism?" Explain to me how any of what I've done so far falls under that class of activity. --Winger84 (talk) 00:37, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Repeated removal of content contrary to reliable sources and against consensus can appear to be an attempt at vandalism. (Would you be as sanguine if this was your station's biggest rival removing the logo and slogan, even after several requests to stop?) I'm assuming that your removals are in good faith but they do need to be backed up with a bit of proof. I would also suggest that uploading the station's new logo yourself and adding the current slogan would be far more productive than this slow-motion edit war. - Dravecky (talk) 00:45, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have updated the slogan. We do not have a slogan, at the present time. We identify on-air in jock breaks and in positioning simply as "106.7 KMX." IF we were to have a "slogan," it would actually be "106.7 KMX, the Home of the Morning Rush with Traci and Stephano," which is the full identifying statement in jock breaks. However, that is not the statement that we have registered with Arbitron for our Fall 2008 Station Information Packet, in preparation for the Fall ratings survey. Uploading the new logo (which is nothing more than the old log shown in the gallery, minus "The Best Mix") would actually be a COI violation. --Winger84 (talk) 00:48, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've been bold and taken the liberty of using MS Paint to remove the offending non-slogan and placed the updated logo, per your description, on the article. - Dravecky (talk) 00:57, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Acceptable, except you used the wrong logo. :) --Winger84 (talk) 00:58, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Canton
Thanks for sourcing South Dakota: because it was added without a reference, I assumed that it was a joke. Not being familiar with the show, I didn't expect him to badmouth a third city. Nyttend (talk) 16:18, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Glad to help out. Knowing how Colbert thinks, he'll keep stringing this out until it stops getting him buckets of free media attention. Given the low-key response from the Argus Leader and the misinformed nonsense from KELO (they got it so wrong, I didn't use them as a reference) this could well be the end of the chain. Um, except for the inevitable apology. Thanks for defending the project so vigorously. - Dravecky (talk) 16:23, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
So, ah, what precisely would need to be referenced here? --Gwern (contribs) 19:31 6 August 2008 (GMT)
- If I were editing that article, I would look for sources tying the books together as the "Galactic Center" saga plus sources that would show the notability of the series. Such an article might look something like this. (I might go a tad overboard on the quotes.) - Dravecky (talk) 20:18, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Addendum: I would also include brief plot synopses of each novel, short bios of key characters in the series, and other items relevant to the series. (That bit, I haven't done yet.) - Dravecky (talk) 20:24, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I think it's kind of silly to request referencing for such information as what books are in the series, but if you're willing to do it I shan't stop you. --Gwern (contribs) 22:06 7 August 2008 (GMT)
This is just something I found funny, but we edit conflicted. I never once expected to edit conflict on a template. If you like Arthur C. Clarke, you might want to look at my changes. :) - LA (T) 07:59, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
- That's a very nice update to the template. It's funny that we conflicted since I'm using AWB to update wikilinks at the moment so I was only in the template for a few seconds. - Dravecky (talk) 08:02, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
WVBR-FM
The program schedule on WVBR-FM has been removed and readded several times. The editor who is insisting this information be in the article points to the provision in WP:NOT#DIR that state mention of major events, promotions or historically significant programme lists and schedules (such as the annual United States network television schedules) may be acceptable as their reason. I'm having trouble equating the current weekend local program schedule a college radio station with the the annual network television schedule. I've left the section alone for now but would your input into the discussion on the Talk:WVBR-FM page.--Rtphokie (talk) 19:06, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've taken a run through the article to do cleanup, add a category, perform formatting fixes, and to rework the schedule to a more acceptable, encyclopedic form. The article still needs serious reference work but I'll have to leave that for another editor. In no way is the current weekday schedule of this station a "historically significant" schedule. - Dravecky (talk) 04:20, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Looks like the editor in question was pretty upset by all of this and is taking a break from wikipedia. While that wasn't my intention and I doubt it was yours either, it does solve the reversion problem. Sorry you didn't get a snarky farewell message on your talk page too. Hope you don't feel left out. Thanks for the help. --Rtphokie (talk) 17:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Century Mall and Adelphi Shopping Center
Good Heymann work on Century Mall. As for Adelphi Shopping Center, I'd still say delete; the pizza place is notable, and the sources pertain to it, not the strip mall. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 22:16, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

I very much appreciate the help with the links to J.N. Adam & Co. and for adding the additional cites. I had not seen the Elvins book, biut look forward to reading it! Sorry I couldn't save the Adelphi Shopping Center entry. Although I understand the reason for deletion, it is an important landmark to generations of Univ of Maryland fans and students and I still believe it worthy of recognition as a notable shopping center. --Pubdog (talk) 23:16, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I sympathize but notability has to be proven, not just felt, and Wikipedia has a pretty reasonable standard for both proof and notability. If you can find a few more articles that discuss the shopping center, and in 55 years there surely must have been a few, then recreation of the article is a valid option. - Dravecky (talk) 00:23, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm in the market. It's Country. For how long is anybody's guess, considering what it's been through in the past month, but at this particular moment, it's Country. --Winger84 (talk) 01:37, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- So noted. I was working from Magic's corporate website info which is, apparently, out of date. If there's any press coverage of the format changes, any at all, it would be useful info for a "History" section for that station article. Also, I've moved it from the AC category to the Country stations one. Thanks for keeping this up to date. - Dravecky (talk) 03:58, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of KAUG
What's up with that? There's nothing indicating why/how on the talk page. Toddst1 (talk) 00:36, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll fix that right now. Just working my way through the radio station articles doing cleanup per the current standards of WP:DISAMBIG to remove unnecessary disambiguation pages and simplify navigation and linking. - Dravecky (talk) 00:52, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Dravecky, I am a little confused on this speedy deletion. KAUG is technically the ICAO code for Augusta State Airport in Augusta, Maine. I am not sure how many people actually look airports up by the ICAO codes, but the disambig page is useful. - NeutralHomer • Talk 03:35, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- To quote from the WP:DISAMB page referenced above, "If only a primary topic and one other topic require disambiguation, then disambiguation links are sufficient, and a disambiguation page is unnecessary." Since the radio station call letters are the primary identification and the code reference to an airport is a secondary identification, a hat note is sufficient and requires no more steps than would a disambiguation page for people seeking the airport. - Dravecky (talk) 04:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, that makes sense. What if there are two radio stations (say the WINC disambig page), would that fall as the same or different? - NeutralHomer • Talk 04:24, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

- Totally different. WEUP (AM) and WEUP-FM (for example) require a disambiguation page because the primary identification for both is an FCC-assigned callsign that is nearly identical and the difference between them may not be readily apparent to the layman. - Dravecky (talk) 04:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, then I am cool with the deletion of KAUG. I thought you were knocking out disambig pages like my example above. But if it is just the "hat note", that I am cool with. Would it be possible instead of deleting KAUG, just move KAUG (FM) to KAUG? - NeutralHomer • Talk 05:30, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello Dravecky. I saw your G6 tag on WIAL (FM) and decided to go ahead and do the proposed move. Do I still need to fix all the double-redirects or will a bot come around and do that? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 04:33, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

KJEF
Hey there - love the work you're doing with the hatnotes, page moves, etc. Every day I boot up my watch list of disambiguation pages, I have another half dozen or so that I'm able to delete.
Just noticing that you're in the middle of killing the dab page for KJEF - you've done the hat note and the page is deleted. Before you move KJEF (AM) over, I thought you might want to know that there's also a TV station with that call sign - KJEF-CA. It redirects to KPLC, although I'm not sure why yet. Wondering whether it might be worth keeping the dab page after all? Mlaffs (talk) 14:02, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Since KJEF-CA is only a redirect, for now I've addressed it with a second hat note on the KJEF page. If an actual KJEF-CA article were to ever develop, recreation of the dab page would certainly be warranted. - Dravecky (talk) 18:05, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sweet — thanks! Mlaffs (talk) 19:39, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

I moved that over as the disambig was to the wrong airport anyway and Black River Falls Area Airport is a minor one. However, I'm not so sure about the KATL one as that's a major airport and I have commented on it at Talk:KATL (AM). CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 05:40, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
WSYA
Hey Dravecky! I hope I'm writing this comment correctly as I have never sent one before! Thanks for everything you've been doing on the local radio pages. You have REALLY cleaned them up a lot and they needed it. The latest with WSYA is, no one has any idea if or when it will ever launch. For the past couple of months, Jacobs Broadcast Group has been simulcasting WTDR on 1490 AM. 104.3 has been off the air for months...if I remember correctly, it went down sometime in late spring, around April. They continue to put information about WSYA programming on the WTDR website, but have taken off any signs as to when the station will launch. The (unconfirmed) rumor around town is that the former owner of 1490, Dee Ford, may be attempting to seize the station from Jacobs Broadcast Group for non-payment. That may be preventing them from doing anything with it yet. I will keep checking 1490 every day, but no new developments as of yet. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arob22 (talk • contribs) 14:18, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Dravecky, some changes have been made to the WSYA page by User:Rwils. These changes contain incorrect information regarding this station's status. It remains off the air; however, station ownership has announced a hard start date of Monday, October 20. In the mean time, we need to fix these changes to the WSYA page! Thanks Arob22 (talk) 01:29, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Re: WVAU
This popped up on my watchlist....while WVAU isn't (and wasn't) licensed, it was carrier-current station when it was on 101.7 and 610. The WVAU call sign is actually licensed to the U.S. Coast Guard, according to the FCC. I think the station is notable, I am just unsure how to edit it. - NeutralHomer • Talk 20:34, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- After a quick check around, another on-air carrier-current station, WERW, has an article of it's own. - NeutralHomer • Talk 20:42, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Unless there is something notable about WERW, it needs to go as well. I'm not seeing anything. Not any mentions outside the campus newspaper and even there it's only the typical stuff you'd see in a college newspaper about a college radio station. Both stations are unlicensed as far as we can tell and therefor dont enjoy the same benefits of assumed notability that other stations do. It's possible that an unlicensed station could be considered notable but the article needs to make a much better case for it than either of these do.--Rtphokie (talk) 21:02, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
DAB question
Is a dab page really necessary for 2 articles? Aren't DAB links at the top of each article sufficent? This allows the article names to exactly match the callsigns as well.--Rtphokie (talk) 23:38, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- The way Firs taught me was that the disambig page went on WXXX, the AM station went on WXXX (AM) and the FM on WXXX-FM. - NeutralHomer • Talk 00:01, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've always followed the "multiple stations with the base call sign" policy laid out in the WPRS guidelines and created disambiguation pages for these. Radio stations sharing a base call sign share it as a primary identification, whether on AM or FM or TV, which is quite unlike an airport known by an official name and only secondarily referenced by an ICAO code or an organization whose acronym happens to be the same as a radio station call sign. During my big sweep through the radio station articles to remove unwarranted dab pages, per Wp:Disambig I've always left those where the primary identifications (which does include more than just call signs) are shared intact. - Dravecky (talk) 00:27, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'd agree with the way the guidelines are set up. The problem with the hatnotes where it's just the radio or television station calls in common is that there will inevitably be articles linked to the station with only the base that don't belong there. I've made somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 dab edits over the last month or two, and the vast majority fit into that situation. That'll happen too with the hatnote set-up, but the correct articles will be different enough that it'll be much easier to see if someone's checking. Mlaffs (talk) 04:47, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Hatnote suggestions - KA-- through KC--
Per our earlier discussion, I found a few on my watchlist that were outside of your Pennsylvania-Texas to-dos. In Iowa, KAIP. In Kansas, KCNW. In Missouri, KBGM and KCXL. In Montana, KAPC, KATL, KBIL, and KBMC. I'll throw you more if I find them as I work my way through. Mlaffs (talk) 03:02, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've just now knocked down KCNW and KCXL but KAIP, KBGM, KAPC, KBIL, and KBMC are disambiguation pages whose radio station components are just redirects to Air 1, American Family Radio, or other simulcasting radio stations. I tried to do KATL but ran in to some resistance from an admin who felt that the Atlanta airport was better known than a random AM in Montana. I agree about the relative fame but still think that the disambiguation page can be eliminated. Check out Talk:KATL (AM) for the discussion. Oh, and now it's only Texas on the to-do list. (So close!) - Dravecky (talk) 04:37, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Urgh - should have caught myself from including those ones. Sorry. I've added my two cents to Talk:KATL (AM), for whatever they'll be worth. A few more for you, BTW, in the KD-- to KI-- range - KEKB, KELA, and KGOE. Oh and, I know it's a TV station rather than radio, but KHMT could be on your list too if you're in the mood! Mlaffs (talk) 05:19, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, KGOE and KHMT are knocked down but since KEKB disambiguates KEKB (accelerator) and KEKB (FM) and KELA disambiguates KELA (AM) and KELA (Finnish Social Insurance) I took those as dueling primary identifications requiring a disambiguation page. Thanks for spotting the ones I'd missed. - Dravecky (talk) 05:41, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
<outdent>Okay, I'm through the western half of the country, and there are a few more — KMJ, KRMN, KSAF, KSSQ, KUDD, KVAB, and KVTA. Also, if the TV one turned your crank the first time, KRHP, KSBY, KTVC, and KUSA! Mlaffs (talk) 12:30, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- So that's KMJ, KUDD, KVAB, KVTA done but KRMN, KSAF, KSSQ all point at both an airport and an LPFM with the -LP suffix a mandatory part of the article name. Since the radio station article can't be moved or renamed, the dab page is acceptable and proper. The TV article KRHP-LP has the same issue but KBSY and KTCS could be done (although I haven't yet) and KUSA needed to be combined with Kusa so I've done that, too. - Dravecky (talk) 15:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Last set — all the Ws. WALL, WASO, WBSB, WCRP, WEBL, WFID, WIYN, WNBF, WNTW, WPAB, WPCS, WPFL, WPRA, WRRA, WSTA, WSUS, WTPT, and WWPN. For TV, WCIA, WHOI, and WPEC. I also saw KDYL and KWST, which looked like the page deletion and the hatnote part were done, but they were never finished with the page move. Mlaffs (talk) 01:18, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks again. I've fixed KDYL and KWST (not sure how they got lost in the shuffle) but can't do WASO right now based on the discussion at Talk:WASO (AM) (it's not uncontroversial but it is fairly harmless so I'm letting it stand rather than make an issue of it for now) and the same is true of WWPN. I'm also going to leave WIYN alone for now as it covers both WIYN Consortium and WIYN (FM). For the same reason, I'm not touching WPCS as it covers both WPCS International and WPCS (FM). I may well revisit these in the future or, if you're so inclined, feel free to tackle them and I won't object.
- WALL, WBSB, WCRP, WEBL, WFID, WNBF, WNTW, WPAB, WPCS, WPFL, WPRA, WRRA, WSTA, WSUS, and WTPT are taken care of or now in the works. - Dravecky (talk) 06:11, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Update: At least I now understand how most of these got missed on the first pass: they either lacked the by-state category or were in the US Territories (which I hadn't looked at yet). So close to the end... - Dravecky (talk) 07:11, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
KOHM
I notice you moved KOHM (FM) to KOHM, which is where it was originally located before it was moved the last time (see this edit). It may be moved again, so which is the better location? →Wordbuilder (talk) 03:54, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- The move from KOHM-FM to KOHM (FM) was because the station is licensed by the FCC as "KOHM" so the suffix is not a proper part of the file name. It was moved with (FM) tacked on because the editor did not realize at that time that a hat note of the type now on the article was sufficient for disambiguation and that the dab page then at KOHM could be replaced. This move is part of a general cleanup on behalf of WP:WPRS. - Dravecky (talk) 04:02, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Makes sense. Thank you explaining that. →Wordbuilder (talk) 16:08, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Your request for rollback
After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback may be removed at any time.
If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! —αἰτίας •discussion• 23:24, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:KQDJ-FM logo.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:KQDJ-FM logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:28, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Logo updated and returned to article, orphan tag resolved and removed. - Dravecky (talk) 06:26, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
AM Stereo template
Yeah, they were created by accident. There should've only been one but for some reason there were 2 that were created. Oh, is there a way to expand the number of list/group segments past 20? Thanks.Stereorock (talk) 02:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Maddow
OK, but it is not a TV series - that is not a logical name for the article. How about "The Rachel Maddow Show (TV news show)" ? Tvoz/talk 05:00, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh wait - I misread - The Rachel Maddow Show (TV) is fine with me. Tvoz/talk 05:04, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
(edit conflict) No worries, I moved it to simply "The Rachel Maddow Show (TV)" to avoid any drama over whether it's a "news" show and since the only two examples of The Rachel Maddow Show in existence are one on radio and one on TV the (TV) suffix should be sufficient for disambiguation. Thanks for your vigilance! - Dravecky (talk) 05:06, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah that's fine - I thought I saw that you had moved it back to "TV series" which made no sense - but I agree completely with your logic on this. (You have a point about the harpies likely complaining about "news"...) Tvoz/talk 05:10, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Glad to hear it and let's both hope it can settle there. - Dravecky (talk) 05:11, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
WOON logo
Would you be able to add the WOON logo from their page? It's www.on1240.com (they have 2 pages). Thanks.Stereorock (talk) 16:08, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Enjoy! - Dravecky (talk) 00:27, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I AM enjoying! Thanks, man!Stereorock (talk) 00:43, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
FCC-assigned calls
I'm just trying to get some sense; if the FCC assigned the calls randomly as they did with WCAU and WHBL, do we need to list that as the meaning the callsign or just leave it blank? I was always confused by it (esp. when I filled in the WHBL article) as to whether to bother with the callsign meaning or not. Just looking for future guidance since I usually flesh out callsign meanings when I come upon them. Nate • (chatter) 08:14, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- If there is no meaning, leave that field blank. - Dravecky (talk) 13:01, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. Nate • (chatter) 22:35, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
WSYA translators
I don't know how to make this edit, but I wanted to let you know that WSYA has announced a second translator that they will be using along with the W282BD (104.3) translator. It is W256BH on 99.1 FM, licensed to Oxford. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arob22 (talk • contribs) 19:49, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- It's still only a construction permit but I've added it to the template. I've also reworked the History section to flow in a more linear fashion. Enjoy! - Dravecky (talk) 22:04, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Template useful for changes in ownership
{{Current change in status}} is a new template for companies and organizations undergoing a change in management. You might find it useful for radio stations that are in the midst of change. See WZNZ for its first usage. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:04, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Neat! Sorry to blow up your example but that radio station sale consummated at the end of July so the article needed serious updating... but the update made the tag no longer required so I had to remove it. Thanks for pointing out this serious issue. - Dravecky (talk) 06:39, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, that was the intent, to get someone watching the article to update it. "Current" tags should never stay up very long. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 14:52, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
