Yes, that logo has been replaced and is not sufficiently different from the current logo (only the frequency has changed) to keep it in the article. - Dravecky (talk) 05:06, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted in Troy, Alabama

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're a member of WikiProject Alabama. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Troy University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

I know Alabama is a big state, but if you happen to live near Troy and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from Troy who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:26, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, but while I'm originally from Alabama, I live in Texas now. Good luck. - Dravecky (talk) 17:10, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Holy moley!

Did you really mean this? I'm all for long school blocs, but that one may be a bit excessive for a second block. Favonian (talk) 17:26, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, that's harsher than I meant. I'll knock it down to a few weeks. Thanks! - Dravecky (talk) 17:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Template:Infobox radio station on TFD

I want to make a clarification on my post on the TFD discussion. I didn't have a opinion on things when I said "I would have all the same fields available if they were merged." I personally still don't. I see how it could be good to have one template where fields could just be removed if not necessary (like we do on the radio station template sometimes). I also see how it could be bad, even confusing to have them combined. Where the template is just massive. In my original post, I just didn't want to see, if merged, any fields taken out. That was all I was saying. I didn't then, nor do I now, have an opinion. Just wanted to clarify that for you. :) Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk05:13, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Understood. And I think you can see why so many WPRS regulars are opposed to any such merger. - Dravecky (talk) 05:20, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I can. I think they see that television and radio are two seperate and different things (as JPG put it, apples and oranges) and they should have two seperate and different templates. I personally don't see it passing though. The WPRS folks have spoken. - NeutralhomerTalk05:26, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

WGAD / WJBY swap

Looks like WGAD is back at 1350 and AM 930 is off the air. A reading of the Gadsden Times article implies that Hinton Mitchem repossessed the property and the station is about to be transferred back to him. It might be best to rename the WJBY article back to WGAD since that article contains most of WGAD-1350 history. Mccullarsj (talk) 04:09, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

I've done a bit of work on both WGAD and WJBY, based on the FCC filings. - Dravecky (talk) 21:07, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Obviously the Thunder are notable, thanks for catching my inadvertent classification! I got confused when I saw it in the category for "semi-pro football" -- by the way, the link to the World Football League on the page goes to the wrong league. Might want to address that!--Paul McDonald (talk) 20:16, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

There's not (yet) a separate article for the new WFL, just a paragraph at the bottom of the main article describing it. - Dravecky (talk) 21:08, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

December 2010

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Outbreak (film), please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. -- Doniago (talk) 15:36, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

What a strange response to simply adding a link to a well-sourced article about an award, especially given how poorly the Outbreak article itself is referenced. In any case, I've added a couple of references from reliable sources and added a ref-improve tag to the Outbreak article. (And you're about 3.5 years late on the welcome but, hey, thanks for the thought.) - Dravecky (talk) 21:11, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Sorry I missed that you're a regular. In any case, wikilinks don't themselves constitute reliable sourcing, especially since if the linked article is deleted or edited the existing sourcing may no longer be valid. Best to put reliable sourcing directly in the article that needs it. Cheers. Doniago (talk) 22:57, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Right, I just found it curious that you reverted the entry and dropped a template for newbies on my talk page instead of tagging the entry with a {{cn}} and leaving me a note. If you're interested, you might care to take a pass at sourcing the rest of the Outbreak article as its references are nearly non-existent. - Dravecky (talk) 23:10, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
I pointed Doniago in the direction of WP:DTTR. - NeutralhomerTalk21:39, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Not really sure why you felt the need to get involved, unless your involvement was requested and I missed it, but thanks for the pointer, I guess. If it was intended as friendly advice, I'd point out that it didn't entirely come across that way. Doniago (talk) 22:57, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Dravecky is my friend, that's why I got involved. - NeutralhomerTalk23:00, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm sure NH intended it as friendly advice. - Dravecky (talk) 23:10, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Took a look at the vandalism on the WKAC page and it seems User:Surphn has caused some of it (sockpuppeteer?) and has the entire WKAC article on his main userpage without the "Radio Bama" logo. Just seems suspicious. - NeutralhomerTalk20:44, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Need to Borrow You

I have a massive amount of updating to do to the radio stations in Virginia and could use some help. From the WAs to the WFs, I have updated, taking out large swaths of unsourced original research and taking what was a C article down to a stub. These can be brought back to C status. That is where you come in. With you mass of knowledge and wealth of links to find whatever you find out there on radio stations, could you do some work on the Virginia radio stations? I know most, if not all stations nationwide, need this kind of work and not just in Virginia, but since I am here, I can help as well (as it is my home state). If you are busy with other projects, let me know and we can put this on the back burner 'til later. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk08:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

All 340 of them? I'd love to help but I'm so far behind on other projects (both on WP and in real life) and bringing the Alabama stations up to snuff that I just can't promise anything. If you get stuck on one or two specific stations, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do. - Dravecky (talk) 11:14, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
As you can get to them and as you find the time. It is really no hurry. The information will always be in the history. I am mostly doing cleanup and website and webstream updating. I want to go through and check all the histories that are sourced (and some are, don't get me wrong) and update those and there are a couple stations out of date. My Stephens City project caused me to lag on my radio station updates. But even if you find yourself doing one a month, that is better than nothing. What you can do, when you can do it is all I ask. :) - NeutralhomerTalk11:32, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

WFHA-LP‎ was PROD'd earlier today. I was wondering if you could work your magic before it goes to AfD. Thanks. :) - NeutralhomerTalk22:32, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I've worked as much magic on it as I possibly can. Without access to a Melbourne newspaper, this is about the best I can conjure but I think it should be sufficient to keep the wolves at bay. - Dravecky (talk) 07:10, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
That's all I ask. :) Good work! :) Yeah, this should be plenty to keep the deletionists at bay. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk20:45, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
