Thank you for patrolling my page!!

Me too. Been editing for years, never made a page before, was all nervous. Tim Bray (talk) 05:47, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

And me as well. Good explanation below as to what it is, and I appreciate that too. KMJKWhite (talk) 16:55, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, same here. Patrolling my page eh?! I'm impressed, seeing as I've barely used my actual account in the many years I've been a member (early 2006 I believe). Although of course Wikipedia has always been one of my most-browsed sites, I don't login much. Perhaps I'll change that habit now that I see such thorough patrolling by DragonflySixtyseven. Thanks for the patrol on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_DiSalvo. It was also patrolled by WGolf 2 days after you patrolled it ... do you know why that would occur with the page removed from the list of newly created pages? Best, Dyan at SAC (talk) 12:51, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

So recently, I made a page for my own book, underestimation(2015). I don't know exactly why it was deleted, so helllp. My name's Rememberbeta

Patrol

I'm a new user, so what in the world does it mean that you've patrolled my page? Thanks! Tears And Treachery (talk) 18:29, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

@Tears And Treachery: I'm not a new user, but I'd also like to know what is the significance of the notice I received that user:DragonflySixtyseven "patrolled" (not "reviewed", btw) my sandbox (first time I've ever even used my sandbox), where I'd posted the English translations of French material that I wanted to review later for the Bataillon d'Infanterie légère d'Outre-Mer article, w/o having to keep auto-translating it each time I wanted to refer to it during my researching. Azx2 20:00, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
btw @DragonflySixtyseven: I'm not miffed or anything, just wondering what your interest in the BILOM subject material is, and if I can recruit you to help me continue building out the article to get it up to a respectable class (which two people could achieve with a few hours' work, imo!). Cheers! Azx2 20:07, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
Just found this quote from user:DragonflySixtyseven in the diff of another user's talk page. c'est la vie ...

"I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all."[emphasis added]

Oh well. Guess DF67 is not interested in BILOM after all :( Azx2 20:24, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
It would really help if the purpose of your patrol was as clearly stated and accessible as a link on the alerts as it is above. I found it a bit tedious to have to type in a long user name & search through your talk page to find the reason why you might have 'patrolled' my sandbox page. Semudobia (talk) 15:41, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
I second that. After years of wondering and being secretly flattered(!) I've finally wondered who this editor was and why it was done and now I know, thank you, Eddaido (talk) 09:00, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
What is the "next step" after a page is patrolled? My efforts to create a new page for omni channel retailing, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:M2sbdav/Omni-channel_Retailing , were "patrolled" by you yesterday and in reading the answers above, its not clear what the next step is. Thanks. M2sbdav (talk) 22:44, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Privacy issue in article on low-importance writer

Thank you for your patrol of Skyler White (writer). I hope you don't object, but I have just revised your change to the lede, and redacted a quote in the article body, due to WP:BLPPRIVACY concerns. I realize that WP:BLPPRIVACY is in tension with WP:FULLNAME in this case, but I think WP:BLPPRIVACY should be the higher priority, particularly because of the erotic genre of the subject's books. I wouldn't want us to give assistance to stalkers by making her legal name so prominent in the lede. Note that all sources use Skyler as subject's first name, without quotes. The subject's original name was mentioned only once in an obscure blog interview; it was not a particularly easy thing to find, and I probably should have used an ellipsis and omitted it from prior versions of the article. Saurom

Why did you delete the page Saurom? I'd created it, and I think that you ought to have warned me of the page's problems. I'd have tried to improve it. I did it in good faith, and I didn't deserve to look down on.

Best regards --Henars (talk) 19:32, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Hello. The reason your page was deleted because it appears to not satisfy the notability guidelines for inclusion on Wikipedia. A more specific guideline is the guideline on music which needs to be satisfied in other for inclusion. If you could show that the band is notable, it can be undeleted and put back in the wide world of Wikipedia! GFOLEY FOUR!21:38, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Patrolling HanSangYoon

You have not uploaded any reasons, incidents, or explanations of why you have been patrolling my page. I have not committed any wrongdoings in Wikipedia. Please cease patrolling my page unless you give me an explanation. Thank you. --HanSangYoon (talk) 22:05, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

None of my business, but I noticed this and have a question. (I looked around but found no answer) @HanSangYoon: how do you know DragonflySixtyseven is patrolling your page? (I'm assuming userpage?) – JBarta (talk) 23:55, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Apparently people are given notifications when pages they have created are patrolled. DS (talk) 00:36, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Did a little reading on patrolling, but still a little foggy about how it works. Maybe I'll stumble over it again another time. – JBarta (talk) 01:08, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
Jbarta, I did get notifications that I was being patrolled by a specific user (in this case, DragonFly67). I did get a notification from him that it wasn't anything serious, so really, I'm not concerned. Thanks for being interested. HanSangYoon (talk) 03:00, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Patrolling Dcgh96

I'd like to know why my account was patrolled. There was no explanation or a message saying why. The most recent thing I did was add subtitles to a couple of videos, so I'm confused on why I was patrolled. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcgh96 (talkcontribs) 01:51, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Patrolling K4 amirak

Hello, I am not sure how to add to the end of the talk pages, so I am adding my text here. I am, obviously, a very new user to Wikipedia...and trying to figure out how it works. Like Dcgh96, I was wondering what it means when I get a message (in my email) that I am being patrolled. It sounds ominous. Is it meant to be? As a new user to Wikipedia, I don't feel very 'safe' when I learn I am being patrolled. I am an instructor who is trying to learn how to use Wikipedia so that I can then encourage my own students to try it out and contribute to knowledge. My intentions are only good!

Thanks and I look forward to your response. 108.180.205.129 (talk) 16:49, 18 December 2014 (UTC) signed K4 amirak

Thanks, I think, for patrolling

Having looked a bit further up your talk page, I think I now understand what the notification alert meant that an article Draft:Robert Long (British Army officer) had been patrolled by you. I guess the fact that it hasn't been speedily deleted is a good first sign! I took a look at some of the talk around AfC backlogs, etc, so truly appreciate the efforts you and other reviewers are making to get new articles up and running. Once I've got the hang of this a bit more (and have more than an occasional stolen lunch-hour to do so) I'll be delighted to join the ranks of Wikipedians in a more collaborative way! Thanks for cleaning up Jay's page. I have no idea where those citations/links to his various comic strips and published works came from, so the stuff you removed wasn't mine and I cheer it being gone. Talk:Murray Boltinoff and Holiday Greetings

Hello DragonflySixtyseven,

Wanted to let you know that I've moved our discussion on Murray Boltinoff to Talk:Murray Boltinoff and posted a notice on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics for additional input from other editors. Also, I hope my tone hasn't been too off-putting. I sometimes get ahead of myself and my writing reads more harshly than it was intended. Hope you have a great holiday season and I look forward to further collaborations. Mtminchi08 (talk) 21:49, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I notice you've moved the article on William Brill, the RAAF officer, to William Brill (aviator). No issue with the dab page now that there's three similarly named articles but a few points... Just curious, I assume you gave primacy to Bill Brill because it was the oldest such article? Also the common disambiguation for an RAAF officer article is to add "(RAAF officer)" to the name, not "(aviator)" -- that's okay, I can re-move it but just letting you know why. Lastly, did you check what linked to William Brill the RAAF officer when moving it? For instance William Brill at WP:Featured Articles now links to the dab page, not William Brill (aviator) -- again, I can deal with that after re-moving to William Brill (RAAF officer) but always good to check these things I think... Anyway, have a great day! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 01:54, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Actually, I gave primacy to Bill Brill because of alphabetization. DS (talk) 02:07, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

I noticed that you've changed a reference to the U.S. Civil war to "American Civil War". Given that there have been many civil wars in various parts of the Americas is this advisable? Regards. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 16:55, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

You made some helpful comments on this user's talk page [1] which have already been deleted. A number of us are engaged in monitoring this user's contributions, and there is more discussion here: Johnuniq sandbox list. I am also putting together a critique of the Cardarelli reference, which I think is totally unreliable: Cardarelli critique. In particular, I can't immediately find any evidence at all that the "Iron" was 1/48" -- if it is totally bogus, even the redirect should go. But perhaps you know more about this than I do... Use of "griping" word not ok?

@DragonflySixtyseven: BRIEF Followup - not sure about this but, in the "The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917 (2013 film)#Reception" article section, adding "<sic>" to the word "griping" *may* (or *may not*?) - be ok - based on the dictionary definition at the following => http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/griping — esp, "to hold firmly" (verb) and/or "a firm hold" (noun) — *entirely* ok with me with (or without) the addition of course - but maybe worth a consideration? - in any case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 20:33, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

The article on the film has no unpatrolled tag. The reason the articles have a "close connection" tag is because you were involved in writing both of them. Hey, i was wondering why you blocked TheTalker? The block reason you gave was (not a useful contributor), but as far as i see, they were doing fine. Deleted Articles

Sorry, don't know if this is the right way to comment/talk. I don't think I cited the amazon place to buy the book, only the amazon profile of the author. Also, I do not think I cited the reviews on goodreads, only the book page where the summary of it can be found. I have read articles on Wikipedia about authors and books with less information/notability. Can't this be voted on in the articles for deletion page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mylittlebirdies (talkcontribs) 18:51, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) While technically this could be discussed at WP:Articles for deletion (which is not a vote), I don't see any benefit to doing so. None of the articles B.L.A., G.B. Gabbler and The Automation showed the least indication of meeting Wikipedia's standards of notability. Regarding the book, you were already told so by the reviewer of the draft. None of your references was subject to editorial oversight. Amazon author profiles are, basically, supplied by the author or publisher; I once saw a profile change based on an on-Wikipedia discussion I had with the author! The best you have is the "The Strange and The Curious" blog, but that says it's "happy to promote any new book releases" - with no indication of editorial control, that's not a reliable source but a self-declared PR tool. So instead of having a deletion discussion conclude that no, there is no indication of notability here, I'd suggest you instead improve the draft with reliable sources such as book reviews published in newspapers or reputable literary magazines and submit it for another review. About article deletion

Hi, DS, First thanks for helping to improve my articles in Wikipedia. I truly appreciate it. However recently you have deleted one of my article Fearism without any warning. This is about a new philosophy that is gaining popularity among small audience. Considering the poor references it has got as this is new idea, I believe though it is fair to have stub article about it just to address those readers. Or if you are not comfortable enough at least put this article in discussion for deletion. Then I would be happy too after all that effort I have done to create the article. Ashish Lohorung (talk) 07:24, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

I do not think the articles' content was truthful. It's a "new philosophy that is gaining popularity among small audience", and yet there is a "Fearism Study Centre"? Somehow I can't find any evidence this "Study Centre" exists, much less that it's a genuine academic institution. Given the obviously promotional tone of the page on Subba, and the lack of any reliable sources in all those articles, putting them up for a deletion discussion would be a waste of the community's time. You had patrolled my article Afterfall: Reconquest some days back. However I do not understand what does it mean. Is it same as reviewing a new article. If yes then why is the new unreviewed article tag still there? KahnJohn27 (talk) 07:44, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

@KahnJohn27:The unreviewed notice is there because User:DragonflySixtyseven forgot to remove it. It's gone now. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 16:09, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello, DragonflySixtyseven. I noticed that you created an article about Friday Jumbe. There was an existing draft about him in the AfC, which you may not have seen. It's not well referenced, but does have some information about his background before entering politics. The draft will soon be deleted if left unedited, but if you choose to use any of the text to expand the mainspace article it can be made into a redirect instead. —Anne Delong (talk) 17:49, 10 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm new to Wikipedia, at least when it comes to content creation. I'm having fun being unproductive and learning all about Wikipedia and how it all works. I'm pretty fascinated. I saw that you paroled my page and confirmed I'm not a robot or a spammer. I got a notification too, so I'm just saying hi. Your approval of Frederick Wood

Hi Dragonfly, when you accept a draft you should usually use the AFC helper script, as it will do the required edits (add notices, update the recently approved articles, create the talk page with AFC banner and relevant wikiprojects, etc) so would you mind installing WP:AFCHRW, moving the article back to the draft (without redirect) and accepting it using the helper gadget? Cheers, --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 19:27, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

@Lixxx235: Yes, I would mind. I would mind very much. I'm not going to install a helper script, I'm not going to undo the various edits I made to the article, and I'm especially not going to move a perfectly valid article back into draft space just to fulfill pointless procedural fussing. If you feel that it requires any particular notices, then you can add them yourself. If you feel that "recently approved articles" needs to be updated, then you can do that yourself. If you feel a talk page needs to be created, then you can do that yourself. If you feel that the article needs to be moved back into draft space so that it can then be moved a third time into article space again, then you are wrong. DS (talk) 19:37, 22 February 2015 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure what your objection is; the whole process would take all of a minute. But alright, as you command. --L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 19:39, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Hollyfield Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Hollyfield Logo.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

Disaster Recover Institute

Hello. It says you deleted the article "Disaster Recovery Institute" several years back. I am just curious as to why and to inquire whether or not it could be reinstated. I believe you deleted the article in 2008(?) and the company has gained a great deal of notability since then. There is even an article on the company's most prominent certification, but not a page on the company since 2008. Please let me know what I can do to help. Thank you. Afondale (talk) 15:07, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

I deleted it because there was no real content. "Independent organization established in 1988 for developing common knowledge and awareness in business continuity and disaster recovery", and then a sentence that they're a leading provider. And that's it. You're welcome to create a fresh article if you can provide actual content. DS (talk) 15:16, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Thank you. Is there a way to reinstate this one or should I just start from scratch? Afondale (talk) 13:15, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Regarding Protected Iyalawo

Hi there. I know you must have far better things to dothan police our little corner of the huge woods that is Wikipedia. But I'm afraid you've walked into a rather strange and thorny issue here and I believe there are a few things you just might want to be aware of regarding the article Iyalawo. Since the first documented case of a Iyanifa (or in the last 2 or 3 years Iyalawo) in 1984, the very existence itself of the Iyalawo or Iyanifa has been by far the most controversial subject in Ifa, both in Africa and in the New World, therefore one cannot properly bring up the subject without also discussing the controversy. So far the proponents of the Iyalawo are very much a minority both in Africa and the New World, but the position has been getting traction, particularly in the US and Venezuela. I will give a conservative estimate that there are fewer than 100 Iyalawos in Africa (more likely about 20) and maybe 3 in Cuba. I believe the editors Iyalawo and Omo Obatala are attempting to use Wikipedia to manufacture the appearance of generalized acceptance of the Iyalawo. If you like, I would be happy to give you references regarding both sides of the issue as well as to the extremely controversial nature of the subject itself within the general Ifa community. Hell, instead of trying to second guess you, how about I just say I would be more than happy to try to provide you sources for whatever information that you believe might be helpful. Thank you for your time and trouble. You could also try contacting relatively disinterested ethnographers such as Stephan Palmié (the Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Social Sciences at the University of Chicago) or J D Y Peel (Professor Emeritus at SOAS University of London). I should disclose that I have exchanged email with Dr. Palmié and that he wrote an endorsement of my book. Frank Baba Eyiogbe Lozen8 (talk) 18:26, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for protecting the page. Because the Cuban sect does not recognize Iyalawos, there has been a constant opposition to anyone else who does. To offer a background, there is quite a lucrative system in Cuba that places a few Babalawos or male Ifa priest, in control of almost all of the lineages in Cuba and those who migrate to America. Anyone who is initiated must pay quite a bit of money sometimes 20 to 30 thousand dollars and the Babalawo gets a cut of all of it. Since the tradition is mostly maintained by women, allowing Iyanifas would make women in charge of their own houses and Babalawos would lose control and the watershed income they had. As a result there is a concerted campaign to discredit Iyalawos to control the growth among women in the tradition particularly among Cuban and Cuban American Women. I'm sure you can now understand the strong interest in limiting information and trying to influence public opinion. I must ask however that the assertion that they are not recognized in the greater community be removed in the article. Ifa is practiced in Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Gambia, South America, Central America, North America, and Europe. There are practicing Iyalawos in every place that Traditional Ifa is practiced. I am one and personally know hundreds of of women who also are. Cuban Lucumi and 2 towns in Nigeria are the only places in the world they are not recognized. One of those Nigerian towns had a history of them until recently when a political dispute erupted with another group of women, Iyami. . That being the case, Cuban Lucumi in addition to being an entirely different religion, is hardly the greater community. Further given Lucumi is an entirely different religion with a different history, priesthood, protocol, and interpretations, and since Cuban Babalawos are not recognized by Traditional priests in Africa, I suggest that the controversy on the page be limited to less than 10 % of the entire page to not allow for undue weight on a mute point by another religion. You can migrate the article over to mainspace using the move function. I think with another week or two of research I will have a birthday and a death date. I don't see him in the California death index or the New York City birth index, I suspect he will be found under a variation of the name with more digging. He should have been in the WWI draft registration. I got in contact with the guy that wrote the previous biography, and I credited him in the references. I asked if he would put me in touch with the family, haven't heard back from him about that yet. I found a few more articles on him, that I haven't loaded yet from Newspapers.com. Help

I just picked you out because you had the coolest handle in a related discussion. Someone just deleted the article for Dr. Kevin Barrett, the renowned Islamist scholar. The president of France just singled him out as being the most prestigious scholar pointing out various official wrongdoings. He doesn't like him. . I note that the disambiguation where I found your handle (which is a very cool handle, which is why I selected you to ask) was apparently modified very quickly after the article was deleted. "If there is no article, there can be no referral" was the overall tone. . The current U.S. population is 315,091,138, it says here. Of that number, about forty percent is reported to be skeptical about the Official Conspiracy Theory as put out by Zekilow et al, but let's just say one third. The opinion of one hundred million people is not to be brushed off like this. Mr. Barrett's article should be swiftly restored. . I cannot find the article listed anywhere and I cannot find any discussion anywhere as to why this one was deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.38.49.80 (talk) 23:05, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

But, 'AGF', I thought it best to google it quick to check for growth potential before doing so. To see if it presented an opportunity to adapt rather than destroy. (As some editor had found it interesting enough to create in the first place). Perhaps even though you're an admin with execution powers you might consider tagging pages to propose deletion (as do we mere editors) rather than unilaterally deleting them without notice. What does it mean if you or someone else has patrolled my page? 7REPTILLIAN7 (talk) 21:55, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice

I appreciate your advice about the proper way to transfer an article from my sandbox to the mainspace. I didn't realize that copy-and-paste caused extra work for administrators; I'm sorry about that. Although I have seen the "move" function mentioned on Wikipedia, I'm not familiar with it. I'll keep it in mind, though, and plan to use it for any future articles that I write.

I have been involved with Wikipedia for more than a year now, and I'm still learning new things (like this) about it. I appreciate the help that you and others have provided in various ways. Eddie Blick (talk) 15:43, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Can you help me?

Dear Dragonflysixtyseven,

Nearly a year ago, you reviewed my article, Creating Strategic Innovation, and at this point I cannot find it when I search wikipedia. Can you explain why? Am I missing something? I see it in the sandbox, and this is my contribution page.. This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Jackveale (talk | contribs) at 18:54, 23 July 2014 (respond to reviewing "strategic innovation"). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Request Restoration Page You Deleted

Dear Dragonflysixtyseven,

Concerning article page you deleted called 'Nhamodzinesu Mkondo'. Please may you kindly restore this. As a new user asked for speedy deletion. This is a notable person, especially in the bass fishing industry and his entrepreneurship & business companies are well known. Thank you.

(talk page stalker) The now-deleted article showed no such thing. One passing mention in a piece on the natural beauties of Lake Manyame and another passing mention in his father's obituary don't make him notable by Wikipedia's standards. In fact neither source even agreed with the article's title. A Google News search for either the full name or for "Nhamo Mkondo" came up empty. A Google Web search for his IT company, something that should be easy to find online, produced not a single non-Wikipedia result. I didn't find any indication of widespread fame in the bass fishing industry, either. If there is significant coverage of Mkondo in reliable sources, I'd suggest you use the Article Wizard and write a new draft that summarizes what those sources report. We cannot, however, restore a largely unreferenced article on a living person. Huon (talk) 18:39, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

What is the nature of this "patrol"?

The following appeared in my messages: "User:Leprof_7272/sandbox was patrolled by DragonflySixtyseven", and in a presentation where your User name was inactive as a link. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know why I'm being spied on. Been a user for years, not like I'm going to overwrite a page with definitions of tropical fruit. I've noticed how often you reply to this sort of question but if you've got time to follow my user page, surely you have time to respond to the question you've been asked probably one hundred times? I'm not necessarily angry, just confused. I'm not a fan of being wantonly spied on. Caused a ruckus in Britain, that sort of thing. Newspaper ceased production because of it. Ah well. I don't edit often enough for my user page to be any more interesting than an empty Toblerone box. Don't mean to sound rude, by the way. I'm just very sarcastic. Have a nice day. (That bit wasn't sarcasm. Nor was that.) DevilboyScooby 19:08, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

You Patrolled Me

I guess I'm supposed to say thank you, but wow, that seemed scary at first.

It took a while to find your page (I'm still new at this), and saw a lot of sections from other users saying you had patrolled them, but none of your answers to their questions. Then I realized your answers would be on their talk pages, so I clicked through to them to read your responses. Then I found a link to what "patrolling" is all about (not the regular page about patrolling, but the special page about what patrolling means internally at Wikipedia). All that killed about an hour. So now I know being patrolled and not deleted is a good thing. So thanks.

But here's a friendly suggestion (either to you or to the Wiki-gods) -- maybe there's a less scary phrase that could be used when patrolling newbie user pages instead of just new "content" pages? That would seem to fit with the "don't bite the newbies" philosophy, no? And it seems I'm not the only newbie who got scared when you patrolled them. Just a thought. If there's a suggestion box page where I should make that suggestion, let me know where it is (still groping my way a bit blind through the back alleys of this universe). Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bluma Tischler, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Residential school. Homer

Hey DragonflySixtyseven, per your edit at Homer Davemport, can you kindly format your reference with a citation template to be the same as the rest of them in the article? This is a featured article and we need them to all be consistent. Thanks! Montanabw(talk) 23:19, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

It isn't that difficult to clear it down to the url, save, and then run refill on the URL... then clean up things like all caps formatting, etc. And then move the template down with the other list-defined references at the bottom. A bit time-consuming, though, which is why I pinged you to fix it.  ;-) Montanabw(talk) 23:53, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

I need HELP please

I saw you are an administrator. Please come to the site graphology. The site is written in a very unscientific way, it is claimed that graphology is a pseudoscience and only studies older than 20 years are referenced. I tried to add some new studies both against and pro graphology but Alexbrn destroyed everything I had written. The site is totally controlled by Roxy the dog and Alexbrn, who want to use Wikipedia to promote their own opinion AGAINST graphology. For me wikipedia is a free lexicon, where people can put together their knowledge. Please read the history of graphology. Roxy the dog was also bullying "GraphEnquirer" after he added some pro graphological studies and declared him an "edit war", so he could not edit the page anymore. I used the talk page and told them the necessarity of new studies and also other opinions than those, but they laught about me and deleted it on the talk page. Please help! I received notice that you are patrolling me...

What does this mean? Why? It does not sound good. (I tried to look up the definition but it was very complicated.) I do not understand if I did something wrong. If so, please let me know! I changed the emphasis / quotes / punctuation in a minor way in a minor section of a minor article to be consistent with the rest of the section. Consistency seems good. There was no political motive in making the punctuation consistent. Is patrolling the norm on Wikipedia these days? Thanks. Gluten is a tent test (talk) 03:25, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

vox day

"I'd say it's a necessary conclusion to the debacle"

But the article isn't about the debacle. As I said in my edit summary, if it was about the debacle, then the witty comeback would be relevant. But this article is about the topic: "Who is Vox Day?" On-topic stuff includes:

  • Him saying what he says
  • Him getting kicked out of SFWA for saying what he said

The witty reply of one of his targets doesn't seem to have been an event in his life, so it's off-topic. If there's an article about the person who made that witty reply, then the reply would be on-topic in that article. Gronky (talk) 00:24, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia article being copied into a book?

I am giving you this information because you are an Administrator.

It seems evident that Emmanuel U. Ojiaku copied most of Grief#10 in his self-published book Thanatology: An Understanding of Death and Dying (Lulu, Feb 12, 2014). the Wikipedia Grief article §10

There is a Google Preview at https://books.google.com/books?id=51RUCAAAQBAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=Emmanuel+U.+Ojiaku,+ that contains an “Examples of Bereavement” section that includes the same examples by title and by content as in Grief#10 with no citations of the Wikipedia article showing in the preview.

I happened upon this book while trying to find some of the many citations needed tags in Grief#10. Thanatology could hardly be the source of Grief#10 whose main title (Examples of bereavement) and subsections titles go back to 23 July 2011; see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Grief&direction=next&oldid=440929977. Vejlefjord (talk) 23:53, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

That's a self-published book. The author is welcome to copy Wikipedia content under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license, though they should cite Wikipedia (or the Wikipedia article's authors) as a source. So while technically that book appears to violate the CC-BY-SA license's conditions, I'm not sure contacting the author is worth the effort. Huon (talk) 02:28, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Rest assured that I won't attempt to turn them into full fledge articles until they have been completed and backed by reliable sources. Darkknight2149 (talk) 21:34, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Tombstone inscription

In a rural New Hampshire cemetery the inscription on a tombstone reads,
“It is a fearful thing to love
What Death can touch.”
You and I differ widely in age, but we have both experienced the reality of this inscription. Vejlefjord (talk) 21:46, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for patrolling my page

… and for have me discovered what "patrolling" is… Wikipedia needs a serious redesign: I use rather wide screen (from 21 to 27") on which the default layout is really unreadable. This is my first attempt to enhance it without changing things so much, but I remain opened to other alternatives. — Preceding unsigned comment added by S@lup (talkcontribs) 07:45, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Patrolling

Hello, Dragonfly67, I was recently notified that you are 'patrolling' me. Was there anything specific you would like to discuss, or is this just a general offer of a guiding hand over my rapport with Wikipedia? Thanks. Parsonage1 (talk) 11:08, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Nintendo Nightmare, a page you created, has not been edited in 6 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:32, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Hello dragonfly would you like to take the Patrick Steinmayr page over. Feel free to email me aspenpatent@gmail.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.15.162.155 (talk) 21:44, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

I wonder why you've protected "R. Baxter Miller", i.e., Edit=Allow only autoconfirmed users. This article is about a living person and he's using it for self promotion. The article has been only edited by R. Miller himself till recently that someone (198.137.20.78) added a few lines about his resignation which apparently didn't please Miller. All achievements claimed by him are not verifiable- note that the only references are his personal pages at the University of Georgia. I believe, this article lacks notability and not allowing others to edit it would make it worse. Rouhollah Aghasaleh 18:53, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Yaqob of India, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Malabar. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thanks a bunch!

What does being patrolled mean?

@DragonflySixtyseven: I received an alert that I was patrolled by you. What does that mean? For purpose of clarity, is it good/bad/neutral? Tale.Spin (talk) 18:14, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

I re-edited Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes, which you deleted for test. It should be good now ;) (I hope again)

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect File:Lions.png. Since you had some involvement with the File:Lions.png redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:31, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Why did you patrol me?

Less than a year ago, I was patrolled for mandating that someone who vandalizes a page on Wikipedia named Dizzynoah1234321 shouldn't vandalize a page on Bank of America. Never patrol people for trying to do good here. Zacchaeusbarbour (talk) 21:59, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Zacchaeus Barbour
