Repeated draftifications

Hi. May I suggest that it may not have been a good idea to repeatedly draftify the Phra Wimondhammaphan article four times in a row, especially since this has been disputed by the author and one other editor (me)? If the subject is deemed non-notable, surely the proper action should have been to bring it to AfD to gain broader community consensus? Or was the main concern one of COI, in which case it should have been more clearly indicated and the author notified with a more relevant message? --Paul_012 (talk) 09:45, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

Draftification is not proposed deletion, so whether it's "disputed" by the author or someone else is not relevant. The article was badly written and did not belong in the main space. There is an Article for Creation process that the author is able to use if s/he thinks it does belong. I did place a specific message on the author's talk page about what the concern was. ... discospinster talk 14:17, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. I've thought a bit more about this, and I must say I disagree. Draftifications, like any other page move, should be subject to consensus and the BRD cycle. When the author re-creates the article in Mainspace, re-draftifying only constitutes a move war. WP:DRAFTIFY explicitly states that such disputed cases should be restored to Mainspace and brought to AfD. (Talking about the general case here, since the specific page in question hasn't seen further moves.) --Paul_012 (talk) 05:54, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Ekey64 (talk) 14:38, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

I removed it because it was written in a promotional tone, rather than neutrally. If you look at the other articles you linked, they just state the facts about the product, and also show how it's notable by Wikipedia's criteria (i.e. has been significantly discussed in multiple, independent, reliable sources). ... discospinster talk 14:43, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Deleted Page: Marcel Katz

I'd like another opportunity to write the Marcel Katz page in a way that complies with Section G11 of Speedy Deletion criteria. Could you reinstate the article as a draft so I can have an opportunity to rewrite? If not, should I start from scratch, ensuring I comply with all policies?

Thanks.

--Cameronfree (talk) 20:23, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

I've restored it in the draft space, at Draft:Marcel Katz 2 (since there was already a Draft:Marcel Katz). ... discospinster talk 21:11, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your reconsideration. Could you give any examples from the article of how I can improve to make sure I fully understand?

--Cameronfree (talk) 21:32, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

For example, this:
Katz is known for working with a variety of artists to curate engaging, out of the box, experiential art exhibitions and installations
should not contain such promotional words, it should just state the facts. It could be changed to this:
Katz works with a variety of artists to curate art exhibitions and installations
Another example could be this:
Marcel Katz began his career as a promoter in the nightlife industry. After rising to the position of Creative Director at Opium Group, a premier hospitality group in Miami, Florida
rewritten as this:
Marcel Katz began his career as a promoter in the nightlife industry, eventually becoming Creative Director at Opium Group, a hospitality group in Miami, Florida
Chotto Matte shouldn't be described as a "hotspot", you don't even tell the reader what kind of venue it is. Other things are just not relevant to an encyclopedia article, like the facts that there was a pizza party with someone from Instagram. It should read less like a glossy magazine article and more like an encyclopedia entry. ... discospinster talk 21:45, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for the feedback, I've adjusted the article and resubmitted for your review.

Article Redirect Issue

Hi Discospinster, I created a article name "Zia Ashraf, It's seems to be after i create the article you moved it to Chaldal.com, though he is the founder of this organization but I thought he should have an article in Wikipedia. He is a well known person in Bangladesh, He has been written in many reputable newspapers of Bangladesh about his achievements. Since he is the first such business entrepreneur in Bangladesh, he is very popular because of this. Following this initiative, many such institutions are now developing. He was featured in almost all Bengali popular newspapers. For short time i couldn't write the article properly and didn't add specific references. For this you moved the article and mentioned "the article is mostly about the website". So my question is if i excluded the information which is more on about the website, will then there is any problem to keep the article in his name?? Hope that you understand my thought. Excitedly waiting for your reply. Thanks! -- Roman (talk) 16:59, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Most of what was in the article was about the website, it wasn't clear how he himself was notable beyond that. If you write more about what these articles are saying about him, then it would show his independent notability. ... discospinster talk 17:47, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Deletion Those Who Inspire

Hello,

I am the person who created the article for Those Who Inspire.

Kindly allow me to share with you that I am not paid by anyone to create the small article for Those Who Inspire. I am a young person who has been following Those Who Inspire for years. Thanks to them I found some of the most valuable mentors I could ever have. I think this entry on wiki is just a means to share with more people the work done by this organisation. Therefore, I do not understand why it is considered as promotional (G11 - this is the reason that appears)... for example, as this is the first time I am creating an article from scratch, I checked the entry of Ted Talks... why is the entry of Those Who Inspire so different and promotional from the one of Ted Talk? Nicoleta 1992 (talk) 09:50, 21 January 2019 (CET)

It was written in a promotional manner, when it should be written neutrally. For example, you wrote that the book is about "local people who are passionate about what they do and have the mindset of giving back to their country or community." This is not just stating factual material, it is written in a style to encourage people to buy the book, and that's not what Wikipedia is for. ... discospinster talk 21:06, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Draft:PING Gold Putter Vault and returning it to PING Gold Putter Vault

Discospinster,

I very clearly understand why you moved the page I created for the PING Gold Putter Vault to Draft. It was a valuable learning experience for me. Other times I created a stub and then went back many times over the next day or so to build out the full page. I will be more careful in the future. I have formally asked through Wikipedia to get the page back up, and as you know that can take some time. Would you please be able to help expedite things? I believe you will see the page is much improved and by making it live on Wikipedia others can engage and help me in my research efforts.

Thank you kindly,

NickWikiAccount1708 (talk) 19:25, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi there. I don't think I can speed the process along but I can tell you that the article is currently written in a rather flowery manner, which gives the appearance of advertisement (e.g. "As perfect evidence that the equipment the professionals play is available to all..."). Wikipedia articles should be written in a neutral tone, just focusing on the facts and citations. Also, there isn't a clear introductory paragraph that gives the reader a notion of what the article is about. If you fix these issues there might be a better chance of the article going "live". ... discospinster talk 13:09, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Thank you much for your candid feedback. It is a flowery piece, not much controversy that I can find about giving away golden golf clubs. Very likely, once others are editing the page there will be additional content added. I have changed some of the wording based on your advice, thank you. I moved some things around, as well as added some, so that there is now an introductory introductory paragraph. Since the article was put to "draft" initially because of sourcing issues and how much of a "stub" that it was, I hoped you could put it back "live". Hopefully the review will be done soon so that others can contribute to this page.NickWikiAccount1708 (talk) 21:32, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

There doesn't need to be any controversy in the article, so don't worry too much about that. It's more about the style of writing. ... discospinster talk 22:09, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi! Thank you very much for the useful advice. I am a new editor in Wikipedia. I need some good advice indeed. I have an aim to write on topic interesting to me and that I know and can discuss with other people. If you can, please, explain, the following issues:

1) What does it mean that the article needs more citations? Please take a look on that article with less citations and length. This is an article from teh list I am working on. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatima_al-Fudayliya

2) and independent sources (i.e. scholarly books?) I have used exactly this kind of sources.

3)May I ask, is there a person competent in the topic of the article to decide whether it is publishable or not? Or just an accident editor responsible for cheking new articles?

Excuse me for the disturbing.

Looking forward for the explanation,

Daria Lebedieva.

I think the main issue is the way it's written. It doesn't look like an encyclopedia article, it is more of a glorification of the subject. It also starts with "Yet in the intoduction to his book on women scholars of hadiths..." which makes me think it's just coped and pasted from somewhere else. As you mentioned the Fatima al-Fudayliya article, it would be a good idea to look at how it is written and structured, and base the Amrah bint Abdur Rahman off of that. ... discospinster talk 18:23, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi, It is actually an irony, for I cannot prove that I have written the text beginning with yet... perhaps not popular or advisable way to begin here on Wikipedia. I am PhD in philosophy, author of 2 books, articles and now I am writing a book on Muslim women and I have some material (based on scholarly books) to share with everyone via the largest on-line encyclopedia but as a result I am getting the advice how to avoid plagiarism-the issue if I had not known it, my works would have not been published. I was encouraged to join Älmhult Wikipedia Group in Sweden for contributing with articles on women and written by women (for there is a gap in this issues as much as I understand) but after some probes I have got some comments on that I answered with the list of questions that were in turn not answered, but finally I was suggested to write as ..with an example of ordinary style and less wording. I came here to write something better then it is here, but I am adviced to go down and to write in ordinary style...To repeat again, it is a big irony ....

It is not an irony. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for everyone, so writing in an ordinary style is important. You are not writing something to be published in an academic journal nor to show off your skills. There is a Manual of Style that articles should adhere to, in order for the entries to be consistent and easy to read and understand. ... discospinster talk 15:36, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Need For An Explanation

Well, you are administrator here and have so many edits so i was thinking about asking a question to you. But let me introduce you to the situation first.

On the page of Mr. Freddie Mercury, I noticed in the lead of the article this : He is regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music along with some really appropriate citation. So the question is, Is this kind of Fan Cruft statements allowed in the lead of Wikipedia or is it just because he has large fan following. Waiting for your precious answer. Regards 117.234.28.215 (talk) 16:24, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
If he is known for being one of the greatest singers, and it's got sources to back it up, in that case it's factual and not just a fan's opinion. ... discospinster talk 16:29, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
Have you ever heard of Mr.Bruce Dickinson? If not then let me tell you that he is regarded not by many but everyone (Mark my words "By everyone") as one of the greatest rock vocalists ever and by many as the greatest Heavy Metal vocalists of all time. You can ask any person on earth or even aliens. This source claims it too 1 and is a reliable source. You can check it by searching in the bottom of the article and you will find that they have given informations to cite on wikipedia. For your own research, you can listen to this 2. So as you said above, we can write this in the lead of the article of bruce : Widely considered as one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time, Dickinson was the pioneer of the genre of operatic vocal style, a singing style that was later adapted by many metal vocalists. I don't think any of the criteria you told was absent. Tell yours opinion. Regards 2405:204:A40D:3F1C:0:0:F5:60A4 (talk) 17:54, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

The Famous People is a group of critics and music researchers. Even articles written by Rolling Stone are written by one guy at a time but that doesn't mean that they are a blog. They are music critics. The Famous people publishes the biographies of not only Artists but every famous personalities and this can't be done without having a very vast base so i think if Wikipedia does not consider this a reliale source then rolling stone too should not be held reliable. Read this small paragraph 3. Did you notice that jobs sub-section besides 'about us' at the bottom? The only reason we all are finding them a bit strange is thst they have too many ads on their articles but when you have so many employees then you have to sacrifice something. Please consider this carefully and tell me about yours opinion. Regards 2405:204:A40D:3F1C:0:0:F5:60A4 (talk) 02:35, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

Art Resources Transfer Speedy Deletion

I created this page for the Non for profit group and while much of it was word for word I cited it as so. I would not want to take liberties with an organizations mission or program information. Is it not ok if the information is cited??

Thank you very much, MelissaC

Hi Melissa. Unfortunately even if it is cited, we cannot have articles copying the works of others word-for-word. This is because Wikipedia itself is offered under a public copyright licence, letting pretty much anyone use the materials, so anything that goes in it has to also be compatible with that. ... discospinster talk 20:06, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

I am sorry I did not want to misinterpret the information and thought that citing was ok. Is there any way that you can put it back as a draft so that I may fix it and resubmit? Thank you!

Actually it's already there, so I'm not sure what your question is. ... discospinster talk 13:11, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Nah! Its not in the lead. Why does the meaning of lead in Freddie Mercury's article differ to the meaning of that in Pearl Jam's article? Listen buddy, Im going to add it in the front and if in case some editor reverts it, you shall tell them not to do so. I hope it is okay with you as you said that "you may add it". Regards 117.225.114.97 (talk) 16:11, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
It is in the lead, along with the other facts about their critical acclaim. The Freddie Mercury article is ordered the same way. ... discospinster talk 16:33, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
No it isn't. Why the appropriate place in Freddie Mercury's article is the front part but Pearl Jan's article is the lower. This is unlawful and bias judgement. Either you put that statement below the infobox In Freddie's article too or add it in Pearl Jam's front. That's it. You are said that there is no law against putting that in the lead so why should be there a law against it in front. What is the problem? Because Pearl Jam is not your favourite but Freddie is. "Controversial" Queen photo

I don´t want to be involved in an edit warring, but your POV is wrong. The photo is not PD in the US, I know, but it was uploaded to Commons because of on this debate, where the final position was that "URAA cannot be used as the sole reason for deletion.... Potentially URAA-affected files should be tagged with Not-PD-US-URAA." on 2 April 2014.

I won't oppose if you remove the image from this article so I can verify some editors are extremely protective about some issues/articles and believe me, I don´t want to enter in long debates or discussions about an edit anymore. My contributions are always in good faith (I've been editing on WP since 2006) and I don't upload files that infringe copyright. But in this case, your point of view is wrong so the photo can be used on any WP project.

Thanks. - Fma12 (talk) 11:06, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

I was going by the tags that were on the image page itself. Also the link to the discussion doesn't work, so I can't look at it.... discospinster talk 18:50, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
You're right; although the link is correct it doesn't redirect well from here, probably due to the synthax used. Try this one please. I've checked it out. - Fma12 (talk) 22:43, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

I don't think there's quite enough lack of substance to delete this per A7 or G11. There's not a lot in the way of sources, so I won't particularly complain anyone sending it to AfD. (Still, at least he's not retired from being English ;-D) Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:14, 12 April 2019 (UTC)

Could you please restore the Pony Language article?

Hello,

Good day!

I was surprised to see the article missing since I clearly recalled having seen it years back when I had taken my first look at the new language. I am not the creator nor am I associated with the core team of Pony lang in any way, by the way. So while the reasons given for the article being deleted make sense (considering 2017, when it was deleted), I feel that it should be restored seeing as to how the language is fast building up a community of enthusiasts, and is even being used in the industry. The official site of the language is: https://www.ponylang.io/

I myself have seriously determined to learning and using the language, and would very much appreciate if the article were restored so that I (and others) can update it with the latest developments vis-a-vis the language and the ecosystem.

Best Regards,

Timmy

Unfortunately I can't find where the article used to be. I checked Pony language, Pony (language) and Ponylang and none of those have any history. Do you remember what title it was under? ... discospinster talk 14:47, 19 April 2019 (UTC)

Hey Discospinster,

Thank you so much for restoring the page. My memory is fuzzy and I recall the article being more filled out than that, but nevertheless, this is a good place to start filling out details again. Thank you so much for the time and effort in restoring the page. Much appreciated! :-)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

Isola di Albarella

Hello,

you "rejected" my article because I gave no citations. That's okay.

My article was a translation and then edited version of an article for "Isola di Albarella" I took from https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isola_di_Albarella . It is not from any interest for Americans. But I know from the experience of being in the 1980s some British tourist visited the island. Because of no English sources I am not able to cite any refernces for this aerticle.

Please just delete my draft because other than the Italian Wikipedia article I cannot cite any English sources.

You can cite external sources (not other Wikipedia articles) that are not in English. ... discospinster talk 01:51, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

UKIP's Suffolk leader Bill Mountford's defence of a murder committed by UKIP general election candidate Stephen Searle is relevant

Hello, I'm Fishiness Spotter. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your most recent edit to Murder of Ann Searle seemed less than neutral and has been reversed. Neutral point of view means representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all of the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic. The key word here is all. By removing the views of Bill Mountford, you have restricted the viewpoints included to only those that were critical of the murderer.

If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.-- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 19:41, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Reliable source: BBC

A BBC article says:

Following the verdict, former politician Bill Mountford told BBC Suffolk he still considered Searle "a friend", adding "these things happen".
[...]
"I'm well aware domestic disputes can get out of hand but I feel equally sorry for both Steve and his now deceased wife." -- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 19:50, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Just because he said something about it does not mean it's relevant to the article. I can see from your other edits that you are not a fan of UKIP. Your addition of these quotes leads me to believe that you are trying to sway opinion about Bill Mountford (and by extension, UKIP) by portraying him as cold-hearted or dismissive of the murder. This is pretty much what WP:NEUTRAL is intended to prevent. ... discospinster talk 20:03, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Bill Mountford's views have received significant coverage in reliable sources. If you hadn't thought my motives were "trying to sway opinion", would Bill Mountford's views suddenly be relevant?-- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 20:19, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
If Wikipedia had an article about Bill Mountford then these quotes would be relevant to that. But just because someone said something distasteful about a subject, it doesn't necessarily belong in the article about that subject. ... discospinster talk 20:21, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
"doesn't necessarily belong"? How are you judging this? What criteria are you applying? Bill Mountford's views are notable, having been covered two BBC articles, The Telegraph and a Buzzfeed article with the title A Former Politician Said "These Things Happen" After A Man Was Convicted Of Murdering His Wife. I hadn't included these sources originally, so I accept that this appeared to lack notability. Now that you are aware of them, might you consider changing your mind? How notable does something need to be to make it relevant?-- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 20:34, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Again neutral point of view requires including "all of the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic. The key word here is all. There is absolutely nothing here confining views to articles about their viewholders. Views can and should be included in articles about their subject matter. -- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 22:35, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Another key word is significant. I'm sure lots of people have said things about the murder, even reported by reliable sources, but we don't have to include every comment. He's not even otherwise notable beyond his awful comment. ... discospinster talk 13:44, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
You are taking positions on what counts as "significant" that are without foundation. I will deal with each of them.
First, you claim to be "sure lots of people have said things about the murder, even reported by reliable sources". Are you really? Other than the victim's family, the authorities, Bill Mountford and people responding to him, who else had views on the murder's unacceptableness that received anything approaching the level of prominence given to Bill Mountford's? If you are as sure as you claim to be, you will have no difficulty providing examples.
Next you went for "we don't have to include every comment". Actually, the NPOV explanation clearly confirms "the neutral point of view does not mean exclusion of certain points of view". Your original removal of Bill Mountford's views on stated grounds of neutrality ignored this principle. This sentence continues "...but including all verifiable points of view which have sufficient due weight." Due weight is explained as meaning "all significant viewpoints that have been published by reliable sources, in proportion to the prominence of each viewpoint in the published, reliable sources." Prominent is what "significant" in the context of NPOV actually means. The more prominent a view is in reliable sources, the more weight NPOV requires it to be given.
You even finished with "He's not even otherwise notable". What? Where is this regulation requiring all included viewholders to be otherwise notable? There isn't any.
You appear to be misunderstanding the role of Wikipedia authors. You are applying your own subjective judgement to whether someone's views are important enough to be included. Journalists and news editors make the kinds of judgements you are attempting to make. However, we don't. Our job is to reflect those editorial judgements by giving due weight to each view based on its prominence in reliable sources.-- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 22:13, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Reliable source: Second BBC article

Another BBC article says:

Following the verdict, former UKIP politician Bill Mountford told BBC Suffolk he felt "equally sorry" for both Searle and his wife, adding "these things happen".
[...]
Eleanor Rehahn, from the Fawcett Society, an organisation that campaigns for women's rights, said she was "shocked" by Mr Mountford's views.
[...]
"We talk about getting wet in a shower of rain as 'these things happen', not the murder of a woman by her partner." -- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 20:19, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Reliable source: The Telegraph

A Telegraph article says:

Following the verdict, former politician Bill Mountford told BBC Suffolk he still considered Searle "a friend" and said that "these things happen".
[...]
"I'm well aware domestic disputes can get out of hand but I feel equally sorry for both Steve and his now deceased wife." -- Fishiness Spotter (Leave me a message) 20:40, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

The way it is written is more suited for his own website bio rather than an encyclopedia (i.e. talking about his "journey"). If you were to rewrite it to focus on the facts, with citations showing that he meets notability guidelines, then it would be more in line with Wikipedia's purpose. Also, the version you posted is exactly the same as the previous version that was deleted for the same reason, so it does not give the impression that you're trying to improve it. ... discospinster talk 21:09, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

Instead of wholesale deleting my edits on pages I created, you could have just asked me. I do not have a relationship with News Ledge. They happen to be inside of Google news and their content is accurate. Ok, they don't deserve a Wikipedia page due to notable sources, though they are themselves, a source. I'm going back in and adding back in the tons of work I have been contributing to drone and camera pages. It's pretty messed up when I was the one who created the Sony a9, a6400 and a variety of pages. What's the harm in coming to me and asking. Putzy band

Hello, Discopinster thanks for your advice. I wanted to know why this wiki is nominated for deletion, being an artist from the peruvian musical scene, it can't have as much United States media as requested. Just having international media coverage and presence, is important to the peruvian artistis culture like in for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peruvian_rock there are bands that seem empty in references but they in fact are bands part of the peruvian musical scene. The same goes with their album: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curses_(Putzy_album) which has been reviewed by AllMusic and its currently running for an international online award: https://louder.me/tournament/summer-league-qualifying-3/1-16/5d10e9a718bbec0024106263 Thanks and I would be happy to talk about it. User:Freeinformationfront

The media doesn't have to be from the United States, or even English. Being "in the running" for an online award does not automatically make an artist notable (if they win a major award it would). The AllMusic review is not from a professional reviewer, there are two from users. I can't access the louder.me link you provided, it's asking me to sign in. ... discospinster talk 13:28, 26 June 2019 (UTC) Oh! I'm letting the content as per your edit but I have one request, can I kindly add the infoboxes back to Rearts for Artists and Rearts Records page, those two are divisions of the corporation and I have seen several pages where there are more than one infoboxes. Thanks for reviewing it as well. Please reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

I don't know if they are really necessary since they are subsidiaries, but if it's for informational purposes then it's OK. Please also use an edit summary to describe the edits you are making, so others can follow along. ... discospinster talk 15:03, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
I have added them back, along with the use of edit summaries option. I guess I'll leave at just it is and make some changes (if applicable) whenever possible along with the edit summaries option. Again, thank you very much and my apologies if we may have gotten on the wrong foot, that was my fault.
No problem. ... discospinster talk 15:16, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
Also one last question, I understand that this sign has to stay

for Rearts but can you tell me would this simply mean that users will edit it and remove promotional content or delete the page altogether. Can you please clarify that ? If you have reviewed the page and it seemed okay enough not to be deleted, does that mean It'll stay ? Thanks. I also have added a recent news update regarding the company which is a controversial news update. Upon adding that I want to know if I can remove it ? Thanks.

That banner just means that some of the content is written in a way that could be considered promotional (e.g. "Within a short amount of time, it became a success and is currently one of Pakistan’s most popular music companies"; using the word "renowned"). It doesn't mean it will be deleted, but someone might rewrite it or remove the bits that sound like advertising. ... discospinster talk 17:12, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
I have removed the bits that seemed like advertising, I want to know if it would be okay to remove the sign now ?
Yes, it's better now. Don't forget to explain in the edit summary why you are removing it. ... discospinster talk 17:27, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
I have removed the sign and explained in the edit summary. Thanks a lot for all your help and time. In the near future, I would be more careful when creating articles and appreciate feedback and (acceptable ones like yours) edits.

Sources added to Dr. Driving

Now it is 6 sources, that detail about description. It is possible to add another one but they are uninterested to the game notability, showing only advertisement. Can you put it into namespace? The draft may delay more than 8 weeks, I want it for now. How Life Changed (talk) 16:42, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

The sources you added are just places to download it, they don't show how the game is notable per WP:NOTABILITY. ... discospinster talk 19:18, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of my page

Hello, You did deleted one of my newly created page "Casa Dream The Resort" which was a work in progress, I clearly mentioned in the edit remarks that I am working on this page and adding references. Basically it was a draft. Kindly help me recover that page as I have to add the references in order to become encyclopedic. There is relevvance of this page as there are several references which can easily justify why it is relevant on Wikipedia.

From my experience - in most cases, you can restore the submission so you I can continue to work on it.

If it's clearly promotional, it will tend to be deleted even if you are working on it. I'll put it in draft space, but please make sure that the content is encyclopedic, and not advertising. ... discospinster talk 13:19, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

request for help?

Hi DiscoSpinster, I am trying so hard to add discography for BG Knocc Out but the other wikipedia people are so mean and they remove my article, they do not help me. I am doing everything in word documents now since they keep erasing my work.

Can I ask for your help with the studio albums section? The album Uncommon, Features are set up to bounce straight to the biography. The album 1-up is pointed toward an article on gaming???

I also feel confused about what is (and is not) an authoritative source. Discogs, Genius.com, Amazon, DubCNN are sources I saw in other published aritcles but for some reason they keep telling me _I_ cannot use them.

Hoping so much for your help!! Kathy

@MsKathyFellows: I've addressed the technical concerns. I have moved the page you attempted to create about the album at Life (gaming) to a more suitable title, 1-Up (album). I have also fixed the link in B.G. Knocc Out. I have concerns about whether the content at the album's article meets Wikipedia's criteria for articles, particularly WP:NALBUM and WP:SPAM, but those are separate concerns. —C.Fred (talk) 15:58, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

Nominated Article for Deletion (Pinmarq.com)

Hi Discospinster,

You mentioned "No indication of notability per WP:GNG or WP:NCORP. The only references given that actually mention the site are web rank listings. None of the actual articles cited have to do with the site. Google search is equally fruitless." on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinmarq.com

Just i added few press release reference in Pinmarq.com article.

The page has been moved to draft space. I understand the reason but the wiki pages for other computer science conferences are written in similar ways. For example: SOSP, ASPLOS.

re: Erin Mendenhall entry

You put the entry for Erin Mendenhall into the draft space. I entered a single sentence into wikipedia without a citation - so I understand why. I had posted about this on Facebook and another person named RichAlger came in and made some edits, adding citations and some additional information. RichAlger clearly has more recent experience and a better understanding of what is needed in a wikipedia post - and I'm grateful that he got involved. Another editor since then came in and suggested that I am the same as RichAlger. I assure you and him that we are not the same person and that I only have a single account/login that I do not share with anyone. I would like it very much if we could return the entry to being public so that others can see it and add additional pertinent information about this mayoral candidate. There are two other candidates that could potentially become her challenger - their names are Jim Dabakis and Luz Escamilla and both of them have detailed wikipedia entries. Danithew (talk) 16:22, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Generally speaking, political candidates per se are not considered notable enough for a Wikipedia article. If there is significant coverage of them in reliable sources (beyond local reporting of their candidacy), then that could meet notability criteria. Jim Dabakis and Luz Escamilla are members of the Utah Senate, so they were already notable. ... discospinster talk 16:27, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

Request for clarification of reason for deleting article "Tsontcho (Sean) Ianchulev"

Dear Discospinster,

You flagged the above article for speedy deletion. This individual meets all criteria for article acceptance. The deletion indicates self- or product -promotion, which I fail to see happening here. All stated facts were exhaustively doucumented with reliable references.

I have thoroughly scrutinized the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography, and followed its guidelines in preparing this article.

Please advise the specific passages where you felt there was self or product advertising occurring, and I will happily modify those to suit your interpretation, guarantee an objective "non-promotional" tone, and treat this as a learning experience.

My personal eddress is "mattsilver@yahoo.com" if this is of use to you.

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

Kind Regards,

Matt Silverman, aka Wiki "SharkWhisperer"

The article was written more like a CV / covering letter than an encyclopedia article. For example, he was described to have "deep life-science and medical technology expertise covering the spectrum of biotech and med-tech industry"; that he graduated from "prestigious" institutions; using phrases like "world-renowned" to describe his colleagues; he "has been at the forefront of the industry and development of products that positively impact hundreds of thousands of patients every year"; "Utilizing new breakthrough technology for virtual online screening, KeepYourSight helps thousands of people every year to stop preventable blindness." etc.
A Wikipedia article is not meant to promote or build up the subject, just describe the facts, and back them up with reliable sources. ... discospinster talk 19:31, 12 September 2019 (UTC)

Alrighty then. If I comb through line by line and delete any of the above passages, and any others qualifiers that I might identify that you think is non-encyclopedic, can we repost this same article with the facts only (all of which are supported by vetted references and citations to reputable sources)? This individual has made many notable contributions to medical research.

Thanks, Matt

By all your moves to Draftspace. Every 2 years, 210 countries participate to World Championships in Athletics. Every 2 years, a specific article for each country details the participation (as in all main sports’ events). Most of the time, there are no source but the IAAF schedule of events. And 99 % of the 2017 articles are less complete and accurate than those of 2019 (now drafted). I will no loose any of my time :

 • to ask for reinstall those articles where they were (Main);
 • to discuss about them, one by one.

I will ask to people more expert than me, like SFB, @Sillyfolkboy:, what he thinks about your useless move. Kiribati at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics (2017 edition) does not contain anything more than Kiribati at the 2019 World Championships in Athletics… And why you do not move to draft space Indonesia at the 2019 World Championships in Athletics, without any link or references ? Could you please restore Weddingz page

Hi,

Thank you for your valuable feedback but may I know how this was considered a promotion? The information provided had proper references, there was no exaggeration & everything written was based on facts. It was properly organised & because it is about a company, I had to add its journey. I was neutral too with respect to whatever I had written was supported by relevant & popular news websites like economic times, Times of India & business standard. I read several articles & guidelines as well before creating this page. I also referred to many Wiki pages to get the tone right, like https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justdial

Kindly help me so that I can re-publish it.

Thank you once again & please re-consider to re-store this page or make editions or delete information, which you think makes it promotional & re publish it. I will be really grateful to you. Kindly revert quickly & positively.

Regards, Shrishti

Even though it was based on facts, it was written in a tone that suggested promotion, like focusing on how many vendors they work with, and what the growth rate was, and how the number of employees increased. These are things that would be relevant to investors or potential business partners, but not in an encyclopedia. I can restore it to draft space where you can work on it: Draft:Weddingz. ... discospinster talk 18:20, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for Weddingz Draftspace! I want more information

Thank you for keeping it as a draft. The said company is 4 years old. Their journey so far is less but notable. Each information that has been mentioned within the article has a proper citation/reference. It is a 400 words wiki page with 21 citation from independent & proper sources. The news sites I mentioned as citations are quite popular & not every company have their own articles there because it is not a PR but a proper news website. I will continue to tweak this page also as & when any other notable thing happens, whether it is good or bad. I wanted to add criticism section to but unfortunately couldn't find any reference for the same. I will request you to kindly re-checked the article to verify that each paragraph & each information that I have given has citation & I haven't written a story out of nowhere. I have seen many other wiki pages with little content & no citation being live for years & months. Example - Just dial & Nykaa. I would request you once again to let me re-publish this Wikipedia page. I can vouch that I have abide by Wikipedia rules & have used information which was present on third party independent sources, keeping it very neutral, haven't used any adjectives to over emphasis it & most importantly have added enough citation. In future too, I will continue to tweak information like I tweak & update other Wiki articles, which I didn't create. From what I know, a Wikipedia page is a never ending article where you continue to add & update information. If a company is 4 years old, I cannot write a false story to make it big but whatever has been written there is relevant & with proper citation. It is my humble request that let me please re-publish this article. Inform me where I have missed citation because I have used more than enough citation for a 400-450 page wiki article. I have seen pages being live for ages with just 6-7 citation.

Kindly give me proper information so that I can make those tweaks & make it live. I will again request you to please re consider & re-verify that I have given citation for each & everything that I have written & allow me to make it live. I will continue to improvise it & will request other Wiki editors too to improvise it if they feel like.

Thank you so much. Kindly revert quickly and positively. I have spent months on this. If even after re-verifying you feel that citations are missing or it seems promotional, I would request you to kindly delete those details or edit them & allow me to make it live because as far as I know I have used references for each & every information. I had references & did my research & that's why I was able to write this wiki article. Thanks once again. Help me out with this.

Example of other wiki pages with less citation & information & tone is very same to my wiki article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nykaa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justdial Also, please check my Weddingz draft as I have removed the details you mentioned looks promotional. Kindly check & confirm, if there is anything else I need to remove, I will do it. After this, I would like to re publish this article.

I am sorry if you think I am spamming your talk but I don't know if you will see my message here or on my talk. Thanks for your help & guidance.

It looks like you have removed the "bragging" parts of the article, perhaps you could submit it for review by clicking on the blue button at the bottom of the banner. ... discospinster talk 18:30, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

I have submitted the draft for the review. Thank you for your help & guidance. It's written, it will take 8 weeks or more for review. Are you also a review participants? Any idea who will take up my article for review??

It usually doesn't actually take that long, more like a week. ... discospinster talk 13:27, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

Speedy on Instana

Hi Disco, I see you put a G4 speedy on Instana, but this is not a substantially-identical recreation of the previous page, and indeed includes a number of new supporting references (see the talk page for more details). FOARP (talk) 14:59, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

Can DraftWeddingz be also deleted using speedy tag

Hi Discospinster,

We had discussion a few days back with respect to my Weddingz pagez which you deleted (speedy deletion) on the grounds of that it seems promotional.

After having a discussion, you moved it to Draftspace, where I removed each & everything that you told me looked promotional like revenue growth, increase in vendors & submitted the draft for review.

Now I got to know that my DraftWeddingz has also been deleted (speedy deletion) on grounds of promotional. May I know why? I am already in discussion with that administrator but I am confused. Now I everything was facts & no exaggeration or anything on what basis my Wiki articles are getting deleted. Everyone has written the basic things about the company - intro, history, association. I also wrote same thn why my article is promotional. I also used independent citations.

Can I just create a fresh Weddingz page using the same content & make it live instead of sending it to Draftspace & all? I have abide by guidelines but still clueless on what ground my work is getting deleted again & again. Should I not even write what happened also to the company? Shrishti Jhamnani (talk) 12:30, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

I don't know about the other version, you would have to ask that editor who deleted it. ... discospinster talk 16:06, 5 October 2019 (UTC)

Actually, the administrator deleted my Weddingz Draftspace that you restored after our discussion. I made a few recommendations there basis our discussion & submitted it for review. And before that, someone user speedy deletion tag to delete it. Sorry to bother you. I Just wanted to help & another administrator that deleted my draft is not replying.

Thanks anyways :)
