About Article Change
[edit]I understand and I agree. But the results of the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation are more properly called the Indonesian and Malaysian Peace Treaty. As you correct, the completion of the confrontation was not due to the inability of the Indonesian military to continue the war, but due to the fall of Sukarno due to the PKI g30s which made Suharto President. Suharto chose to finish the war with a peace agreement called the Bangkok Agreement of 11 August 1966. Therefore, the outcome of this war is more properly called the "Indonesia-Malaysia Peace Treaty", Please for your understanding and thank you for your attention.
Unreasonable reversion of technical edits

Speedy deletion contested: Pelangi Kasih School Jakarta
[edit]Hello Davidelit. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Pelangi Kasih School Jakarta, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to schools. Thank you. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 17:35, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

POV category?
[edit]I don't understand. I mean, I can understand a possible dispute over whether Abdurrahman Wahid was a Zionist, but what did you mean by possible POV category? A Zionist is just someone who supports and believes in Israel's right to exist with a Jewish presence. Wahid's article and the article Muslim Zionism indicated that Wahid was this. Is this a misunderstanding? There were already existing categories for Category:Christian Zionists, Category:Arab Zionists, etc. If there are a significant number of well-known Muslim Zionists, it seems like a reasonable tidy category. - Gilgamesh (talk) 20:18, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
You know, if it's all the same to you, I'm going to add a brief definition to the category, and re-add Wahid to it. He was Muslim who was supportive of Israel, and that's a very notable interest in an encyclopedia. - Gilgamesh (talk) 20:25, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

geographic features
[edit]Another editor has questioned some of you tagging, and I think they are correct. Wikipedia:Notability (geography) , though an essay, expresses the current consensus. Rivers are unquestionably notable. Populated islands or islands of more than very trivial size, certainly (a single house has been considered sufficient to show that it is populated). Villages, certainly. Formal administrative regions, at the province or subprovince level, certainly.; they would be analogous to states and counties in the US. Subdistricts, too, I think they correspond to the US townships, and I think they have all been held notable. They may also correspond to the Philippine Barangay; I recall there were earlier discussions about some of them, but I think they are currently all held notable also. The only relevant thing that is often not unnotable is unofficial non-adminsitrative divisions, "neighborhoods". I don't think any of these are among the ones you have been tagging. In practice, this is as firm a practice as any actual formal guideline, If you wish to test this, you certainly have the right to send a few to AfD, but I think you will find they are speedy keeps. DGG ( talk ) 18:46, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Renville Agreement
[edit]There seems to be significant political spin / propaganda in the opening of the Renville Agreement with the phase "the Netherlands who were seeking to re-establish their colony in South East Asia". As far as I understood it, the 1946-49 conflict between Sukarno and the Netherland's was over the type of republic; despite the Dutch Church which wanted to protect it's pre-war business interests, van Mook promoted the idea of free elections and voluntary membership in a federation which was in conflict with Japan's idea in 1944 and Sukarno since at least that time to head a militant Republic administrated from Jakarta. The centralised Republic was supported by the Ford Foundation and other corporations wanting to obtain new mining licenses for the remote islands (justified by the 'Marshall Plan') which Sukarno would then administrate. Of course once they discovered in the 1950s that Sukarno was their equal, the Ford Foundation around '57 come up with the idea of replacing him with one of his Generals but that's another story. Does the Renville Agreement article need to include any quip alleging what the Dutch overall motivation was?Daeron (talk) 05:04, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

I am sincerely grateful for your help with the Garuda Indonesia Article. I too am trying to keep the article up-to-date and correct as I've great respect for the Airline and the Aviation world.
I'm writing this to request for your help in conducting a rollback of the said article as some of the recent edits have been weird and seemed out of place. If you have the time to spare, please review the recent edits made towards the said article and if possible, revert them to the last revision you deem appropriate.
Thank You.

I reverted your reversion of an IP user's edit to Lion Air, which you said was unsourced. I reverted your reversion because the edit you reverted was made in good faith. Revert to New York Agreement
[edit]I reverted your reversion of an editor's edit to New York Agreement, which you did not say was a POV edit but did say was made by a person who has "history of bias in editing". Krakatoa
[edit]Hi, why did you reverted the removal of Dutch East Indies in the Krakatoa article? We don't say Java is an island in the Dutch East Indies (modern Indonesia), right?. I see no difference with Krakatoa. Garion96 (talk) 19:25, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hi. I take your point - in the present tense it is weird. I reverted the "is an island" to "was an island" as per pre-vandalism versions of the article. Cheers. Davidelit (Talk) 05:17, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Why do you prefer "was an"?. Again, like Java, it still is an Island. From what I read about two thirds of the Island was destroyed, but it still is an island. What is wrong with "is a volcanic island situated in the Sunda Strait between the islands of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia"? Garion96 (talk) 08:15, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- I havent re-read the article recently - but - there are two islands at least in history (if not more) - the original island (was an) and anak krakatoa is the successor island - I had the impression that they were two separate items literally... was is the more apt usage - but as I say havent read the trainwreck of the set of articles - from memory they need lots of work to fix - so the original island was an island of the dutch east indies - the current indonesian island is not the same island by any stretch... SatuSuro 08:21, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Ok thanks, that makes sense. Then the article itself needs to be updated. Or at least the lead of the article. Garion96 (talk) 14:09, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

ITB English name
[edit]Hello Davidelit
I noticed you reverted back my edit to ITB page. I am sorry first since I am not familiar with how wikipedia works. Since you said that this is English wikipedia, that is exactly my point. 'ITB' is the name the university should be referred in any language, just like 'MIT' is called 'MIT' in any language. Take a look at École Normale Supérieure for another instance.
If you speak Indonesian, you can read some discussion from a lecturer from ITB here: http://rinaldimunir.wordpress.com/2013/08/27/bahasa-inggrisnya-itb-apa/ especially the part: "menurut UU Bahasa Indonesia Pasal 36, nama Perguruan Tinggi di Indonesia harus menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia"
and an example of an official ITB letter using the name Institut Teknologi Bandung in English here: http://lp4.itb.ac.id/wp-content/uploads/TERJEMAHAN-SK-DD-Twinning-Programs-Edited.pdf
This might seems like little concern by people outside academia. But if you're familiar with how academic publishing works, this might become an issue. Students/staffs from ITB often use alternative name like 'Bandung Institute of Technology' or 'Institute of Technology Bandung' since they do not know that the official name of ITB in English is still ITB. This made the count of number of papers/citation somewhat misleading, since we have different counts for 'Institut Teknolodi Bandung', 'Bandung Institute of Technology', and 'Institute of Technology Bandung'. I think many people get this wrong since they searched it on google and eventually end up on wikipedia.
I hope you re-consider my proposal and thank you.

Changi, etc.
[edit]Thanks for touching base, David. Been busy and only doing minor edits from time to time. I sent a message to Satusuro recently about the page for Hang Nadim airport -- the lead there claims without citation that Batam's airport was started as a kind of "emergency overflow" from Changi. That might be true, but there is at least one other (also unverified) sentence in the lead that makes it seem like Batam is basically an extension of Singapore's regional plan. I'm not sure how to correct this article, but I thought it's worth mentioning to you guys. Martindo (talk) 05:05, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Is it thus a reliable source? My Indonesian is no longer that, um, efficient. The editor has carried this across into another few articles. Would be interested in your opinion. cheers --Merbabu (talk) 09:49, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Davidelit. Do you want to propose DYK for your newly created article Working_Cabinet_(Joko_Widodo) ?, I think we can create some interesting hook, such as : Did you know that the number of women in Working_Cabinet_(Joko_Widodo) is the most than any other Cabinet of Indonesia. *Annas* (talk) 05:12, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Ngurah Rai airport
[edit]Hi, I notice that you have reverted a change I made to the Ngurah Rai international airport (Garuda Airlines and Wakatobi charter). The reason you added for the revert was "a puff blog is not a reliable source". I'm new to this so not sure what is meant by puff blog.
The blog I linked to is from the Wakatobi Dive Resort. They are the owners of the airport (ICAO: WA44 / IATA : TQQ). The airstrip you have reverted back to is wrong as it is the Matahora airstrip on Wangi Wangi (ICAO : ?? / IATA : WNI).
This is a Google map link to the Matahora Airport (WNI) This is a Google map link to the Maranggo Airport (TQQ)
You will also see on the Wakatobi Regency Page under Flight Hub that there is mentioned;
"The main flight hub of the Wakatobi archipelago is Matahora Airport on Wangiwangi Island; a separate airstrip is also present on Tomea Island which is used exclusively to transport visitors of the Wakatobi Dive Resort."
So you can see that the current version for the Wakatobi charter flight is linking to the Matahora Airport which is wrong as the Wakatobi Resort charter flight is to the private airport Maranggo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Antaboga (talk • contribs) 13:45, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
As Wakatobi Dive Resort is the owner of the airport (and the blog post you deleted was from the Wakatobi Dive Resort) I don't understand why you reverted back to the outdated information.

Hello
[edit]Hello, Mr. Davidelit. I've found your username in WikiProject Indonesia member list. I saw in WP Indonesia you're also interested in Indonesia politics. I've expanded Njoto and the article needs to be copyedited. I only use Google Books for references (all of the books are English) and one book from Tempo. I am not majoring in history but interested about Indonesian history. I'm affraid there are many inaccuracies too beside poor written English. Could you copyedit the article and remove the inaccuracies if any? Thanks in advance. MRFazry (talk) 05:49, 19 November 2015 (UTC)

New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi Davidelit,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Your Revert on Garuda Indonesia Flight 152
[edit]Hi Davidelit,
You recently reverted my deletion on Garuda Indonesia Flight 152. As I explained in my edit summary, the content I removed (which you reverted since it was referenced content), was not verifiable in the reference provided. The text and the reference claims that the information in the text (investigation results) were the results of the "official NTSB" report. After carefully reviewing official NTSB reports on the NTSB archives, I found that no NTSB investigation took place, and that the investigation that took place by the Indonesian safety board was not published. As such, the content in that section, while contained on another (unverified) source, is factually inaccurate, and should not be present in the article. --Hunterm267Talk 06:04, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
Indonesia edit
[edit]I'm just a casual viewer of this article. I am not involved in the minutiae. What this looks like is section blanking, content censorship, possibly a POV issue. This much content is not just removed for bad sentence structure. Rather than blanking this much sourced content, including the wikilink to the further information article, somebody better stop reverting and start doing some writing to FIX the problem, rather than remove the subject from the world's knowledge database. Trackinfo (talk) 08:37, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- No accusations toward you, you didn't start this. Removing an entire subject always looks suspicious. At least putting a wikilink is a minimal compromise. I think there should be at least a sentence or more to set up and summarize the subject. My own knowledge of the subject is based in OR, my wife is from Indonesia (which is why this is one of over 12,000 articles I watch). I've heard her stories and am familiar with the laws of the country that make women subservient to men. As a (the largest) Moslem majority country, its discriminatory policies toward women are probably the most liberal amongst that group. Which is to say, being anti-woman is a common, popular opinion amongst Indonesian people. So the POV of removing content with a Western perspective on women's rights would be relatively common from the internal Indonesian perspective. Trackinfo (talk) 08:19, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- Dear Davidelit regarding my edit that you reverted on 3/Sept and 4/Sep and your request 17/Sept that I help your understanding of the subject. Perhaps you could explain what you are having trouble understanding? In the meanwhile I hope you may agree that the article is meant to be about the "History of Indonesia" and not "Theories of Indonesian History", and therefore where possible should contain facts in preference to theories. Facts are things like the Dutch in 1946 told the United Nations (see Assembly resolution 66) that the Netherlands was legally required to perform the functions of UN Charter article 73e in relationship to the Netherlands East Indies, which article 73e says is a "sacred trust" with purpose until the territory has a "full measure of self-government".
"self-government" = independence or whatever else your people decide they want to do which is what the word "self" is referring to. Its a concept people in other parts of the world have heard of from the UN Charter article 1 that its purpose is also to "develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples". That's what the Netherlands in 1946 has declared and legally locked itself into for Indonesia; the Church and other business owners might be pissed off and try to get get public support to demand the Hague undoes this commitment, but that is not an option allowed by 73e. And there's Sukarno who might not want the Javanese to be allowed to design their own government or vote for their own choice of leaders. Currently the article includes theories alleging the Netherlands had a unspoken policy never to allow independence, which have been popular theories for a long time and still are popular (especially in Indonesia); but including that theory should not be reason to exclude the fact that the Netherlands made a legal commitment about Indonesia at the United Nations in/from 1946.Daeron (talk) 03:00, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Power vs. Manpower
[edit]Dear Davidelit,
I started questioning the naming of cabinet position Minister of Public Works and Manpower after adding a link to Herling Laoh. It seemed odd that in some of the cabinets there was also a Minister of Labor. Also, there are some references about the position that talk about the dealings of the ministry related to power in terms of electric and water power 1 and 2.
Here are some other comments:
- First Ali Sastroamidjojo Cabinet, Second Ali Sastroamidjojo Cabinet, Djuanda Cabinet, Second Working Cabinet, Third Working Cabinet, Fourth Working Cabinet, Second Revised Dwikora Cabinet: The Indonesian article uses Tenaga instead of Tenaga Kerja as is also seen in the following references related to Rooseno (first Ali Sastromidjojo cabinet): 1, 2, 3, and 4.
- First Working Cabinet: The Indonesian article uses Tenaga Kerja, but there are some references that use Tenaga for Sarjono Dipokusumo: 1, 2, and 3.
- Dwikora Cabinet: The Indonesian article uses Ketenagaan. These references associate the word to generated power: 1 and 2. Also, the naming in the next cabinet (Revised Dwikora Cabinet) for Setiadi Reksoprodjo shows this relationship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CakalangSantan (talk • contribs) 15:10, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Nomination for deletion of Template:Infobox Indonesian political party
[edit]Template:Infobox Indonesian political party has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. Hddty. (talk) 08:26, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
The article Denpasar Conference has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Why not write this sentence in State of East Indonesia? There is no reason for the article, and it is thus not independently notable as a stand on own topic.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 12:54, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
In future you may be interested in using the draft prefix system. You start articles with draft on the title, like Draft:Denpasar Conference then when the article is good enough to be a basic article you can move it to the main article area. This of course stops any problems from arising. Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 08:58, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

[edit]It seems that BPUPKI is not wrong. See here --
https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badan_Penyelidik_Usaha_Persiapan_Kemerdekaan_Indonesia
So both BPUPK and BPUPKI seem to be OK. Pmccawley (talk) 01:33, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. Leaving aside the lack of credibility of most articles on the largely unreferenced Indonesian language Wikipedia, "BPUPKI" is definitely wrong. The BPUPK was established by the Japanese 16th Army in Java, which had no influence over the rest of the future Indonesia. Sumatra was occupied by the 25th Army, and the rest of the Dutch East Indies was controlled by the Japanese navy. The addition of the "I" was part of the New Order propaganda narrative (like the "Budi Utomo being a national organization), backed by Yamin's self-serving account of the proceedings. See Kusuma, A.B.; Elson, R.E. (2011), A note on the sources for the 1945 constitutional debates in Indonesia, Bijdragen tot de taal-, land- en volkenkunde / Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences of Southeast Asia, 167 (2-3): 196 – 209, doi:10.1163/22134379-90003589, ISSN 0006-2294. Regards Davidelit (Talk) 02:06, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying. I appreciate it. I assure you that don't want to make too much of a fuss about this.
I now have looked up the Kusuma and Elson article. Thank you for the reference. They have clearly looked into the matter quite closely. I notice that there are several references to a work entitled Risalah BPUPKI dan PPKI (at p. 207, for example). This seems to suggest that the term BPUPKI was at least acceptable in some circles. However, I appreciate the points you make about the role of the Japanese 16th Army in Java at the time and the implications of this. At the end of it all, I'm not quite sure what the exact status of BPUPKI is. However, as you say, whatever the precise status of BPUPKI, I agree that it seems better to refer to BPUPK. And thank you for the courtesy of responding. Pmccawley (talk) 06:28, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying. I appreciate it. I assure you that don't want to make too much of a fuss about this.
- Hi. Thanks for the response. The Risalah... publication - by Saafroedin Bahar,Ananda B.Kusuma and Nannie Hudawati - was part of the New Order (my copy is dated 1985) propaganda efforts to simultaneously proclaim Pancasila as the "holy grail" while not encouraging worship of Sukarno, who came up with it. The Saafroedin et al book is entirely based on Yamin's work (as thoroughly discredited by Kusma and Elson) in which he claims to have come up with a version of Pancasila first. The addition of the I was not only acceptable. but obligatory, having been (mis-)taught on schools, and to question it was bordering on being anti-Indonesia... Alt text on North American X-15
[edit]Hi David, regarding your revert here, I didn't remove the alt text, but moved to the parameter in the infobox designed for it. I'm assuming the parameter actually functions, but I don't know how to test it to see if it is working properly. Did you confirm that the alt text was not functioning before you reverted? If it's not working, then we'll need to find someone to take a look at {{Infobox aircraft begin}} and try to fix it. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 03:49, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- My apologies - I was distracted and completely misread your edit. I did check it was working before, but not after. Davidelit (Talk) 04:27, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

- In this link [4] you will find NO shaded cells for 2018, it is all grey.
- "Shaded cells indicate IMF staff estimates" will still be written up there even though the numbers shown are in grey cells (this indicates they are official figures and not estimates), this is why "est." was removed in the article edits. It is like this for every country. Do not disrupt the work being done.

- In this link [5] they are in a different color from the other table cells because of the background color of the website itself. The table format extends the more years there are added.KREOH (talk) 05:05, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
- You will see here [6] that the table cells with the descriptions are white, 2018 year cells are grey and 2019 cells are green. This is because the table starts going outside the website's bounds the more years there are added to it. Hopefully this clears up any confusion.KREOH (talk) 05:12, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

About articles
[edit]Well, there are a lot of books the DPR opened for public. For example, the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation can be made by this book, while this article is based on this, even though the book isn't quite neutral.
Also, my late grandfather is a 1956 graduate from the Politics Faculty, so he has several books regarding the DPR RIS and Temporary DPR.--Jeromi Mikhael (talk) 07:03, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
Update: I think you can just simply copy right off the first book into the article, due to the public domain nature of the book and the consistency of the book.--Jeromi Mikhael (talk) 07:07, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
A request
[edit]Hi. I from the Russian Wikipedia. You know the Indonesian language, right? If so then can you translate some phrases into English, please?
I will wait for an answer. And sorry for my bad English. ЗарегалсяДабыСделатьПравкуСтатьи (talk) 21:44, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hi. Yes, I speak Indonesian. Which phrases do you need translating? Regards Davidelit (Talk) 03:52, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
- I write an article about extreme vocal technique that is known as "pig squeal"... I didn't know who else to ask. ЗарегалсяДабыСделатьПравкуСтатьи (talk) 12:00, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
- "When a person sings, the diaphragm muscle applies strong pressure on the lungs, and can regulate the flow of air through the trachea, which vibrates the vocal cords, that enters via the mouth. But this does not eliminate the possibility that the air from the lungs and the head are also used when performing."
- "Air leaves the lungs through the throat, which vibrates to make the sound louder. [...] [when?] inhaling, the character of the voice tends to be weaker than when pushing the sound out. When appearing at a metal music program, a vocalist also mixes breath from the chest and head to produce the pig squeal, but those with more dominant vocals exhale air from the stomach."
- I hope this makes sense - I'm not an expert on anatomy. Davidelit (Talk) 14:58, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! Now I can finish the article. ЗарегалсяДабыСделатьПравкуСтатьи (talk) 15:28, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

First women elected to the Indonesian parliament
[edit]Hello Davidelit. I am trying to identify the first women elected to parliament in Indonesia (for a list I am compiling of all the first women MPs in different countries). Based on a report from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (which I have to admit has proven wrong for several countries), women (17 of them) were elected for the first time in 1955 elections (I found details on some female members of the Volksraad but they appeared to have all been appointed members).
I saw there is a list of MPs elected in 1955 on id.wiki, but I only managed to identify 15 women (the ones with the title Ny.). Is there a reliable source you can point me to that contains the names of the women elected (and would confirm the number)? Cheers, Number 57 16:12, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comprehensive response. I can understand how frustrating it is – I've found conflicting information for several countries, particularly Venezuela, where every source seems to have a different number and/or list of names... Do you let me know if you ever come across any more useful info in this area, particularly one that has a list of names attached. Number 57 17:20, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Indonesian Army
[edit]Hey, regarding the recent changes to the Indonesian Army. I'm just asking, does it have to be on the lede? I checked the Armies of ASEAN and no mentioned of Human Rights violations on those pages. Those that mentioned are on different sections of the page like Vietnam on Lao Insurgency. I have no problem with the violations on the "History" section but putting it on the lede feels out of place considering other Armies doesn't have any. I checked US Army and Armed Forces also the Russian Armed Forces and Ground Forces and no mention of Human Rights Violations, etc. either. So is it possible to undo your latest changes on the Indonesian Army? and keep it on "History" section only?EvoSwatch (talk) 01:32, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
About your strange edit in "Proclamation of Indonesian Independence: Difference between revisions"
[edit]Hello. Isn't this arbitrary deletion of you strange?([7]) Why should the statement of objective facts from a source written on the basis of proper evidence be deleted? Is it a rule that such selfish suppression of speech holds in the English version of Wikipedia? I was disappointed with your intolerance. It is a clear fact that the statue of General Sudirman was donated by Indonesia to Japan, and it is also true that Hatta and Sukarno thanked Japan for the date of the Declaration of Independence (because they say so). Maybe it's a fact that Americans don't want to admit, but it's a historical fact, so please be fair and neutral.
It is well known that Sukarno is pro-Japanese, and there are many official words of appreciation from Indonesian government officials for their independence to Japan, but the English version of Wikipedia does not mention such historical facts. I feel an intimidating atmosphere that I shouldn't do. And look at some articles, there are a lot of misunderstandings and mistakes about Japan, and the English version is not a very reliable encyclopedia for articles related to Japan. --みしまるもも (talk) 11:23, 24 September 2020 (UTC) add --みしまるもも (talk) 12:21, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
- User:みしまるもも, this is the English Wikipedia. English sources are not required, but are of course preferred. To start clamoring about "intolerance" and "selfish suppression of speech" is really over the top, and to throw in that this is somehow an American POV is silly. In addition, some of your phrasing, here and in article space, seems to have been created using Google Translate--this is garbled, and that's before we get to the part where you seem to be on a crusade to deny or efface war crimes. Drmies (talk) 14:07, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Excuse me for using words like "Is it racial discrimination against the Japanese" yesterday, which may have made me feel uncomfortable.
But, you misunderstand me and the refer sources. I do not say that everything Japan has done is good, and I do not deny that Japan forced the Indonesian people to struggle. However, in this article, there are numbers that were too exaggerated and inaccuracies. And the refer sources I used are good evident in the official papers and books of many serious researchers. Also, it is the fact that there is both the merits and demerits of Japan in Indonesia, it is the historical facts which many researchers said. But this article lacked the "merits" aspect, so I edited the aspect and balanced the article.
Nevertheless, you are reversing it all. It's a very emotional act and strange. It may be because the book's title made you uncomfortable (Eye-catching title for sale), but the content in the book is fair and well-founded. Regarding other sources, the researchers wrote accept the "sin" of Japan, and they state that the "merit" aspect of Japan is also an important historical fact. I want you to trust me more, and please be fair.--みしまるもも (talk) 01:21, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

KRI Irian reverted edit
[edit]Hello, I just want to asks about your recent reverted edit on KRI Irian page. The question is about "directly copy-pasted from https://thedailybounce.net/world-of-warships/supertest-pan-asian-cruiser-irian/", I want to inform you that they took the reference from Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1947–1995 page 178 because it had exact same sentences from the book, so i think they can't claimed any copyright?
I already explained this issue on my talk page before and got no answer, do you think that maybe we can find a best way to keep the content that already reverted? Because the credible articles about KRI Irian is very hard to find and if there's one, it's murky and I think we all have responsibility to give others the correct and neutral history as a lesson for future generation
I'm expecting your replies, thankyou IndonesiaSocmedController (talk) 18:56, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Reverse edit on President of Republic Indonesia page
[edit]Regarding reversing my edit on the page of the President of Indonesia. The formal nickname for the former president of Indonesia was "Paduka Yang Mulia" which was originally the equivalent of the word "Heika" which was the official nickname for the Japanese emperor. So in my opinion there is nothing wrong with the phrase "Paduka Yang Mulia" translated as "Your Majesty" because it was originally called the head of the monarchy, and now the official nickname used is Yang Terhormat which means in English is The Honorable, why do you reverse too... - Good one, I agree. However, there seems to be good evidence that the banana originated in Nugini and pre-Indonesians brought it from Kalimantan to Madagascar, leading to cultivation in Africa (see Banana#Early_cultivation). Martindo (talk) 01:33, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

The Mute's Soliloquy ISBN
[edit]Hi, over at Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies, in this edit you added a citation to The Mute's Soliloquy by Pramoedya Ananta Toer, with the ISBN listed as 781134254279. This is obviously incorrect because it's 12 digits long, and the obvious correction, inserting a 9 at the beginning to resolve it to 978-1-134-25427-9, ends up coming up in WorldCat as Richard McMillan's The British occupation of Indonesia, so that's also clearly incorrect.
Normally I fix these errors on my own, using contextual clues like a nearly-correct ISBN, but here I can't tell at all what the original ISBN would've been. Would you please look for the ISBN of the edition of the book that you used, and correct the citation? Thanks, {{Nihiltres |talk |edits}} 15:56, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
Missing cite in Anak Agung Bagus Suteja
[edit]You have added short cite to "Robinson 1995" but no such source is listed in the bibliography. Can you please add? Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]]
to your common.js page. Thanks, Renata•3 02:00, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Council of the Indies
[edit]Hi. I have reverted your move of Council of the Indies, because I think the Spanish Council is very likely the primary topic for this title, given its greater historical significance at least for a worldwide audience and with that a high probability that most readers typing "Council of the Indies" are looking for it. I've instead added a hatnote pointing to the Dutch one. If you disagree, I suggest you start a requested move. Lennart97 (talk) 20:26, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Please forgive this unsolicited message on your Talk Page. I had initially posted a message on the Talk Page of a user who made the deletion on the TS page - and he/she felt my message was annoying, patronizing and therefore not conducive to collaboration (as I had very simply spelled out my reasons for contesting the deletion). I'm glad you then came to the article's Talk Page, as I have followed with interest some of your contributions, edits and explanations over the years. Please don't take that as undisguised flattery with any ulterior motive. I defend my content and am happy to modify it when necessary, but I do appreciate the importance of civility in discussions (not always present), so thank you for that. Veteran RI
[edit]Refer to your edit here. While I agree to placement of the sentence is a bit out of place, but I dont understand on "why did you think source from Veterans' Legion of Indonesia is not WP:RS?". Do you mind to elaborate that? Thank you. Ckfasdf (talk) 08:28, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Ckfasdf: Hi. I felt that the WP:RS tag was appropriate because apart from clear bias in a source that has a vested interest in inflating the number and the vagueness of "Di Indonesia ini tercatat ada 863.432 Veteran Pejuang" (meaning they are registered as having claimed to have participated), it is a striking mismatch with the (cited) figure of 250,00 in the infobox. Incidentally I have my doubts about the source for the majority of Indian volunteers being killed. Any thoughts on that? Regards Davidelit (Talk) 08:54, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Regarding striking difference in number, Veterans' Legion of Indonesia refer to definition of veteran as stipulated in regulation (initial regulation: article 3 of PP 34/1985 and last changed in Article 21 PP 31/2018), whereas the criteria for "Veteran Pejuang Kemerdekaan" is kind of low (
Veteran Pejuang Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia sebagaimana dimaksud dalam ayat (1) huruf a dibagi menjadi 5 (lima) golongan, yaitu Veteran Pejuang Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia : e.
). - IMO that number is still possible since not all of them are active at one given time. Whereas, the figure in infobox most likely refer to total combatant at one given time. Also again that number is based on number of membership in Veterans' Legion of Indonesia, so it may be considered as WP:PRIMARY, but then it still can be used in article. Ckfasdf (talk) 09:38, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- For comparison, approved US military strength for Operation Enduring Freedom is 75,000 personnel. And yet, total US military veteran during that time is 2.8 million person. Ckfasdf (talk) 10:13, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- That's a logical argument, which I accept. If you can find a logical place to insert the claim, I won't remove it :-) Regards Davidelit (Talk) 10:44, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
