Invitation to join WikiProject Brands
Hello, Crystallizedcarbon.
You are invited to join WikiProject Brands, a WikiProject and resource dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of brands and brand-related topics. |
- @Northamerica1000: Done. Please be sure to let me know if there is any particular article that needs an extra hand. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 11:39, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for joining, and I'll keep this in mind. I'm working to revitalize the project a bit, in part by adding the {{WikiProject Brands}} project banner to relevant category and article pages that lack it. North America1000 12:12, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Northamerica1000: Happy to help. I added it to two articles I was involved in and to Honda, I also added categories to those and to Apple Inc.. I will keep it on my radar and do the same for other possible candidates. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 20:11, 6 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks. Any and all efforts will help to improve the project. In terms of talk page tagging, it helps to organize the project's bottom line. North America1000 02:53, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

The sock case is now marked 'confirmed' by DoRD, but is not closed: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Filiprino. If there is really nothing more to do, I was thinking of doing the block and marking it as closed. Do you know of any other possible socks? Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 19:52, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- Never mind, this has been handled by a clerk. EdJohnston (talk) 22:39, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @EdJohnston: Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I just read your message. I have not detected any other socks at this time. He seems to make them sequentially to continue avoiding his block by creating the new account once the previous one is found and blocked. I will keep my eye open. Thank you. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:11, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.17
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
- News
- The WMF has announced that Google Translate is now available for translating articles through the content translation tool. This may result in an increase in machine translated articles in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to use the {{rough translation}} tag and gently remind (or inform) editors that translations from other language Wikipedia pages still require attribution per WP:TFOLWP.
- Discussions of interest
- Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
- {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
- A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
- There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
- Reminders
- NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
- NPP Tools Report
- Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
- copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
- The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

That wasn't me
Dear Crystallizedcarbon,
You sent me a message stating you had reverted an edit someone with the same IP as mine had made to a page about an attorney called Robert Muise.
This is 100% fine with me, as Verizon owns a large pool of IPs in my area (I typed "poop" mistakenly, but that may be more accurate, given the godawful service in my area -- no FiOS, for example), but until three minutes ago, I had literally never heard of Robert Muise and I certainly didn't make any edits on his page.
So, no problem whatsoever. I won't be touching the guy's page in future, either, owing to my slight handicap of not knowing anything about him.
All best -- shine on, you temporarily befuddled diamond -- LadyCrow — Preceding unsigned comment added by LadyCrow (talk • contribs) 04:43, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @LadyCrow: I know it wasn't you. I am not sure what you are referring to since I did not leave any message in your talk page. I last edited Robert Muise's page in February 2016 and back then, I also did sent a message to the IP you probably connected to. You probably saw it because you were not logged into your account when you checked "your messages" and you happened to be using that same IP. You can ignore it, only messages on your account do apply to you. I have left a welcome message in your talk page. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 11:17, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.18
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:
- Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
- Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
- Reliable Sources for NPP
Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.
- Backlog drive coming soon
Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.
- News
- Following a request for comment, the subject-specific notability guideline for pornographic actors and models (WP:PORNBIO) was removed; in its place, editors should consult WP:ENT and WP:GNG.
- Discussions of interest
- A request for bot approval for a bot to patrol two kinds of redirects
- There has been a lot discussion about Notability of Academics

Tony Ricca
Hi,
I follow Tony Ricca and help with the page to update previous or new information about him. His page was recently changed by removing so much of what is verifiable. The individual BurritoOfSadness15 has decided to remove most of it which was mostly opinion based if you read the reason for it. This is unacceptable. I did notice that some things can be referenced and that will be simple to do. Some sources will not be able to be sourced because information about Tony Ricca was done before it was online. Much for him is in print. One claim is the following: "there is no evidence, besides anything written about Tony Ricca, to suggest that there is a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in DePace Museum. Source http://depacemuseum.com/" The Depace Museum has closed to locate in Wildwood, NJ. It did have a Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in it. If a statement needs to be made to verify this, I'm sure that can be done. Here's another: "Remove unnecessary information. There is no evidence, beyond his own YouTube page/website, that suggest Arena Kaged Wrestling, Showtime Wrestling, or the Powerslam Training School exist, all Facebook accounts have no posts, and all Twitter accounts retweet his personal Twitter account, without ever posting anything about wrestling events, training, or anything beyond his own, or his restaurants, Twitter account". Arena Kaged Wrestling and Showtime Wrestling are actual promotions. Arena Kaged Wrestling was on televised on WMCN during the early 2000's. Videos do show this on YouTube. Powerslam Traning School was a training center that Tony started in 1998. That is in print. It's appalling when removing information that is fact as it's done, it should not be removed. When someone says something doesn't exist and it did, they didn't research enough. Tony is in the new book The Transition Playbook for Athletes. It has 100 athletes and Olympic athletes and he's in it. I will update his page with that. It even shows evidence with the authors of the book. He's also listed in the former WWE personnel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_WWE_personnel_(N–R). His daughter, with the help from you was added to his page with her accomplishments and sourced too. Sourced in USA Today, The Courier Post, etc. and Tony Ricca too about his WWE wrestling. He removed that, her photo, without mentioning any of it and all of his photos. Why would the photo's be removed? Totally unacceptable. I replaced back what was being added on his page since the page originated to when I updated from last year. I wouldn't have done this if none of it were true. Tony is also top in the categories on Cameo.com. When someone does searches and social media searches, doesn't mean it didn't take place. I do understand the guidelines and know this individual has not met most of them. Evidence I think shows the individual is not from the USA where Tony is from and the WWE's main headquarters are at. This does not mean that information cannot be found but it can be difficult if someone doing this in the manner that was done needs further evidence before making any accusations and claims that things didn't exist, there's no evidence and so on. Wikipedia does not have a user page with this exact title for BurritoOfSadness15. I hope that you can help me with this.
Thank you Georgivac (talk) 03:53, 26 May 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Georgivac: All information in biographies of living persons must be referenced by reliable sources. I you can find the needed references you can add the information back along with the reliable sources. A reliable source does not need to be published in Internet to be valid. It should be publicly available but does not need to be easy to access, see (WP:PUBLISHED and WP:SOURCEACCESS). If properly sourced content is removed the editor must provide a valid reason to do so. The talk page of the article is the place to find consensus about such issues, please try to find a consensus with the editor there. If you have any questions let me know. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 09:54, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Crystallizedcarbon: Thank you for the information provided. It's very helpful when or when not to edit information if needed for a page as well as source properly. I'll let you know with any questions. Thank you again for the information and help and restoring what was missing again from Tony's page.

- You are welcome @Georgivac: Keep adding the needed sources. You should remove yourself the information you can not reference with reliable sources. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:53, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you @Crystallizedcarbon: I will keep adding the needed sources and remove what I cannot reference. However, I'm not sure if I'm adding the sources correctly from reliable newspaper articles that are not online. I have included the newspaper name, writer, date and title for the ones that are not online. Some are the Press of Atlantic City, The Hammonton News and others. If you can please let me know if that is correct. It's very much appreciated. Thank you. Georgivac (talk) 15:51, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Georgivac: Add the page (number) as well, (you can access it in the show/hide extra fields button). BTW you don't need to ping users in their own userpages, use it when writing in different talk pages, like your own for example. It is used to notify the other user, but you get automatically notified when someone writes in your own page. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:03, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Hello. I have just read your comments and it's very nice for you to help a newbie (I´ve started using Wikipedia as a resource due to a university project in which I am working: I have received my degree of translator in December, and I am participating in a project to translate articles on three different museums from Argentina where newfound paleonthologic and archaeologic findings are being exhibited). My primary source so far has been the original article in Spanish but I'll search for more sources to back up my article. New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.
- Backlog
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.

Article is being considered for deletion
Hi Crystallizedcarbon, A user has put considered for deletion on the Tony Ricca page. Before the same user put it as article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for sports and athletics which might need to be redirected if it falls under a different notability guideline. What can be done about this? This page has been up for several years and now a user wants to delete the page. Certain sourcing is outdated but cited. I look forward to your reply.
Georgivac (talk) 19:46, 14 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Georgivac: The first thing you would need to do is to show that our general notability guidelines are met for the subject. For this you need to show that there are at least three independent reliable sources with in depth coverage (non-trivial) of the subject. I did a search for online sources and I could not find much. In the deletion discussion some of the offline sources have been questioned. Can you provide any reliable source for the hall of fame claim? as I think Thrive Global does not qualify as a WP:RS. If you can manage that there should be no problem as long as you deal with the claim of the article being promotional by trimming it down to what the reliable sources say about the subject, if not it will probably be deleted. Let me know if you find the sources and need help. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 16:23, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Crystallizedcarbon: Thank you. As for the online sources, there are a few online databases that show his credit as the same is done on other professional wrestler pages that's sourced for them for what is referenced (ie: The History of WWE for Tony Ricca). This doesn't include but will have to remove online videos and Thrive Global articles that are referenced. There are four offline reliable sources that have been found as only a few are shown. Another will be added. What is needed for since they are questioned but they are legit? They show the article title and name of the writer? These articles are archived in libraries. Sources for the hall of fame are mentioned online in The Huffington Post and Medium. The Museum shows it's closed but is relocating. If those sources aren't good for the hall of fame, that part will have to be removed. If you could help me with the offline sources that are at libraries, that will be much appreciated. I will shorten it to the offline sources and the few online sources. When more sources are found, other sources can be added. Thank you. Georgivac (talk) 17:34, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
- @Georgivac: If you know the libraries where they are archived you can add it to the reference. All offline references should be completed with precise date, page and article title. You should add as much detail as possible, you could also add quotes from the articles in the reference itself, If you do not know how, let me know and I will do it for you. The Huff post source is not a valid RS for notability, at it was done in their now closed "Contributor platform" which is not under editorial control. The history of WWE is a blog, and is not a valid source for establishing notability. Even if it is used for other professional wrestlers pages that is not a valid argument per WP:WHATABOUTX. At this point the offline references seem to be the only thing that could save the article. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 06:36, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Crystallizedcarbon: I have inserted offline sources with archived information and content from the articles. Please review to see if they are cited correctly. Please adjust if they need to be. I have added content from the articles to the page. Nothing is off topic from the articles. If you notice that the content should be restructured, please do so. I have found other articles but did not add yet. I don't have a source for the Jersey Shore as it's on TV. I did look at the episodes which shows him in the credits. I'm not sure how to source it. I look forward to your thoughts. Thank you.Georgivac (talk) 07:45, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Georgivac: Thank you for that. I have formatted the references and removed excessive non encyclopedic details. You need to also find details for reference number 6 from 2002 or remove it. As far as the TV shows, even if it is clear that it happend, if there is no reference where it can be checked it's not considered notable, and should be removed. In my opinion, the section other media does not make to much sense without independent sourcing and should probably be removed. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:41, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Crystallizedcarbon: I have removed Other Media. I'm not able to locate any references for TV shows. If I'm not able to locate the information from the article to reference number 6 from 2002 by tomorrow, I will remove it. I appreciate your help very much. Thank you. Georgivac (talk) 19:03, 21 August 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Manasunna Maaraju
Hello Crystallizedcarbon. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Manasunna Maaraju, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 cannot be applied to movies or TV shows. Thank you. SoWhy 07:18, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @SoWhy: I searched in Google for the title before nomination and found that it is available in YouTube. I saw no coverage at all from news. As such does it not qualify as web content same as podcasts do? Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 07:51, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- If it was released in 2000 and YouTube was launched in 2005, then logically this cannot have been a YouTube-film, can it? Whether it's currently available on YouTube is not relevant. A7 would just apply if it was only released on YouTube. FWIW, it has an IMDB entry as well. Regards SoWhy 07:56, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
- Backlog
Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
- Coordinator
A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.
- This month's refresher course
Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.
- Deletion tags
Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.
- Paid editing
Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
- Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
- Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
- Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
- Tools
Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.
Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.
Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.
DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.

You can read more and give your arguments on why you think it's relevant at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Geelong Dragons. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 08:08, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

ITN recognition for Trial of Catalonia independence leaders
On 16 October 2019, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Trial of Catalonia independence leaders, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:28, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Coriolis
Why do you keep deleting the note about Father Giovanni Battista Riccioli and the fact that he was a Catholic Jesuit priest? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.166.124.217 (talk) 13:48, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- I think your message was intended for Vsmith. The article is centered on Coriolis itself, not on the contributions of the Catholic church to science. That is the reason why I removed it. I did so only one time. Vsmith removed it also, probably for similar reasons and left the comment in the edit summary that you seem to be replying to. Still, it's puzzling how from that and from the fact that I am from Spain you are able to claim I have something against the Catholic faith. Please read WP:AGF. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:08, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
- I do apologize for the automated message on your talk page, as that was left by mistake. I have removed it. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:14, 23 October 2019 (UTC)
I apologize for the comment about anti-clericalism. With that said, there is a clear bias among many wiki editors against the Catholic church and a true and real attempt to obfuscate the positive contributions the Church has made through the centuries to the development of Western Science. It's very frustrating to me, but I am used to it. I will delete my accusation above.
- Well, in this case you were mistaken as that is in no way my intention. It's common knowledge that many scientific and philosophical texts were preserved by the church through the dark ages and that there have been many Catholic clergy scientists that have made notable contributions to science. That does not mean that the fact that Giovanni Battista Riccioli was a priest is relevant in an article about Coriolis force. It is however very relevant in other articles like the one about Catholic clergy scientists. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 15:54, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
An apology from who unconstructively edited the article: Corea.
Hello! I must first note that it was not my intention to change nor edit the given article, as well as do not remember to. I shall, nonetheless give my sincerest of apologies if this is the case, and feel both ashamed and embarrassed of my previous actions. Please excuse me.
P.S: I do not know either how to accurately employ talk pages, thus please spend some bearance on me!

- The message is from 2018, and if you do not remember, it's probably because you are using a dynamic or shared IP and someone else made the edit. I recommend that you register an account. It's easy and that way you will not get those messages. Regards. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 15:35, 28 October 2019 (UTC)
New Page Review newsletter November 2019
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.
- Getting the queue to 0
There are now 805 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.
- Coordinator
Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.
- This month's refresher course
Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.
- Tools
- It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
- It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
- Reviewer Feedback
Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.
- Second set of eyes
- Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
- Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
- Arbitration Committee
The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.
- Community Wish list
There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

regarding nomination of speedy deletion of The Wicked King
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
As you have tagged the page The Wicked King for a speedy nomination, I just want to make it clear that, "I did not copy/paste any material or mean to infringe any other copyrighted material. I saw that the novel THE WICKED KING did not have a separate page on wikipedia, I used the first book's page of this book series only as a reference to help me produce this material. Nothing has been deliberately taken out from any material, and the references are carefully researched. I understand if you still think of it as infringing or contradicting any policy."
Thanks, Emmanuel Asbon
Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 08:12, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Almost all (if not entirely all) of the text was copied from https://giddyupwestern.com/the/32490-the-cruel-prince-release-date-212-766.php and https://bzistritas.ga/book/show/26032887-the-wicked-king WilyD 08:46, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
Hello Crystallizedcarbon,
Those text you are referring to as 'copied' from the websites you have mentioned above are the 'blurb text' used as a short description of the book. I didn't think using it for the synopsis would mean infringing. As far as I have seen on many pages, blurb texts have been used in the synopsis. I got those text from goodreads.
But, I apologize if putting that blurb text in the synopsis is wrong. thanks for clarifying.
Emmanuel Asbon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emmanuel Asbon (talk • contribs) 08:59, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hello @Emmanuel Asbon: No problem, the previous comment was not mine. For future reference, remember not to copy any text directly into an article as that is a serious policy violation in this project. If you find other articles with the same issue you can help by removing the infringing material or by tagging the article. --Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 11:24, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

New Page Review newsletter December 2019
- Reviewer of the Year
This year's Reviewer of the Year is Rosguill. Having gotten the reviewer PERM in August 2018, they have been a regular reviewer of articles and redirects, been an active participant in the NPP community, and has been the driving force for the emerging NPP Source Guide that will help reviewers better evaluate sourcing and notability in many countries for which it has historically been difficult.
Special commendation again goes to Onel5969 who ends the year as one of our most prolific reviewers for the second consecutive year. Thanks also to Boleyn and JTtheOG who have been in the top 5 for the last two years as well.
Several newer editors have done a lot of work with CAPTAIN MEDUSA and DannyS712 (who has also written bots which have patrolled thousands of redirects) being new reviewers since this time last year.
Thanks to them and to everyone reading this who has participated in New Page Patrol this year.

- Redirect autopatrol
A recent Request for Comment on creating a new redirect autopatrol pseduo-permission was closed early. New Page Reviewers are now able to nominate editors who have an established track record creating uncontroversial redirects. At the individual discretion of any administrator or after 24 hours and a consensus of at least 3 New Page Reviewers an editor may be added to a list of users whose redirects will be patrolled automatically by DannyS712 bot III.
- Source Guide Discussion
Set to launch early in the new year is our first New Page Patrol Source Guide discussion. These discussions are designed to solicit input on sources in places and topic areas that might otherwise be harder for reviewers to evaluate. The hope is that this will allow us to improve the accuracy of our patrols for articles using these sources (and/or give us places to perform a WP:BEFORE prior to nominating for deletion). Please watch the New Page Patrol talk page for more information.
- This month's refresher course
While New Page Reviewers are an experienced set of editors, we all benefit from an occasional review. This month consider refreshing yourself on Wikipedia:Notability (geographic features). Also consider how we can take the time for quality in this area. For instance, sources to verify human settlements, which are presumed notable, can often be found in seconds. This lets us avoid the (ugly) 'Needs more refs' tag.
