Hello CambridgeBayWeather. Could you please consider re-opening this AfD to give it more time to reach consensus? So far there was only the author and one other person who participated, so I think some more time for others to give their opinions would be worthwhile. MrsSnoozyTurtle there were three people. You could start another AfD. Better than reopening. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 04:56, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

Jenna Coleman

Why did you protect the page "Jenna Coleman" while keeping wrong, unverified, and wrong tabloid rumours in there? None of the articles listed that claim that she had split from Tom Hughes provide any evidence whatsoever, while in contrast there is so much evidence to show that they did not split. Do you think Wikipedia is a place to support tabloid lies that have been proven to be wrong? — Preceding unsigned comment added by EulerLagrange42 (talkcontribs) 16:12, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, happy new year and thanks for protecting the page. However, you set the protection to expire on 5 Jan 2021. The Deaths in XXXX pages are normally protected for the whole year, so could you please change the protection and set it to expire on 5 Jan 2022? Thanks and cheers. --Marbe166 (talk) 15:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Happy New Year. That goes against WP:NO-PREEMPT. If they return it can be protected for longer periods. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 23:01, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Antifa full protection

Why have you put full protection on Antifa (United States)? Many editors have been working on that page constructively now we're almost all blocked because MyPreferredUsernameWasTaken was edit warring? That's not fair at all. Why not just block MyPreferredUsernameWasTaken for editwarring rather than blocking all of us from contributing? Surely that's a fairer way to approach this? Bacondrum (talk) 23:41, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Bacondrum. It was protected because CLCStudent made a request here and when I looked at the page I saw MyPreferredUsernameWasTaken and Doug Weller both reverting twice. All it needs is a few days discussion and it can be unprotected again. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 23:55, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Cool, thanks for explaining. All the best. Bacondrum (talk) 23:56, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. I would have blocked both of them but that Doug Weller is a Florida Man originally and is thus quite scary. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 00:01, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Do you reckon you could unlock the article now, I've filed an edit warring report. I don't think it's fair we are all locked out because MyPreferredUsernameWasTaken turned up one day and decided to edit war. Just block them. Bacondrum (talk) 06:20, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
@Bacondrum: They don't seem to have broken 3RR, they've only reverted twice. I doubt that they'll be blocked. CambridgeBayWeather, that's one of the funniest things I've ever been called, thanks! Doug Weller talk 07:20, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
So why can't we edit the article. Collective punishment? If an editor can't stop reverting then stop them from editing, not all of us. This fella just turned up and started edit warring and now no one can edit, that seems insane to me. Bacondrum (talk) 08:09, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh shit! @Bacondrum: pardon my French, but not having edited that article in a long time I didn't realise it was at 1RR. I can see why CambridgeBayWeather mentions both of us being blocked. Maybe I should revert myself, but I still think it's a BLP violation and besides Admins shouldn't be editing a fully protected article without an excellent reason such as vandalism, copyvio, or BLP issues. Doug Weller talk 12:20, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
I never thought about it being under discretionary sanctions either. There are too many notices, 13 or 14 boxes, at the top of Talk:Antifa (United States). I don't like fully blocking people in things like this because it stops any productive discussion, which was being held on the talk page at that time. I also forgot about the ability to block from individual pages. It's −37 °C (−35 °F) here and my brain is frozen. Looking at what has been said I don't think there will be any more edit warring so I'll unprotect the page and it looks like EC is there now. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:35, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi Cambridge. Wouldn't it be usual to log your EC protection in WP:Arbitration enforcement log/2021 even though that's the same level of protection that was there before. EdJohnston (talk) 18:12, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Probably. Done it now. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 18:57, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for that. -37! Wow! Never experienced anything like that. Bacondrum (talk) 21:51, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

  • By motion, standard discretionary sanctions have been temporarily authorized for all pages relating to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes). The effectiveness of the discretionary sanctions can be evaluated on the request by any editor after March 1, 2021 (or sooner if for a good reason).
  • Following the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: Barkeep49, BDD, Bradv, CaptainEek, L235, Maxim, Primefac.

Hi - I see you page protected Palagummi Sainath for vandalism. There hasn't been any vandalism nor any BLP violations. User:Anasuyas was concerned about edits being made by User:GreenBlueYellow. I was contacted by Anasuya on a non-wiki platform about it and I suggested that they work it out on the talk page, as she had not yet contacted GreenBlueYellow. I did see she asked for some assistance via BLP board, but, didn't think it was necessary. I took the initiative to clean up the article, as it was a mess, and myself and User:MumbaiMedia are now doing a bit of tweaking and clean up to improve. I don't think it needs page protection, but, that's just my opinion. Anyway, have a good day. Missvain (talk) 18:57, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Name modifying of the article Relax(collective)

Hello!

If it's not bothering you, I would like to ask you the reason why you change the name of the president article RELAX(chiarenza & hauser & co) to Relax(collective), as the artists of this collective called themself as RELAX(chiarenza & hauser & co) since 1997? And the recents articles talked about them also used their name RELAX(chiarenza & hauser & co). (ref:https://www.sikart.ch/KuenstlerInnen.aspx?id=11000024) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xinyi Fox Hu (talkcontribs) 14:48, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Xinyi Fox Hu I checked at http://www.relax-studios.ch/ and there was no indication of an unspaced ( being used. So is the correct name of the company "Relax chiarenza & hauser & co" as shown here or "Relax (chiarenza & hauser & co)" as shown here. It appears that everybody use the () except the collective itself. Wikipedia uses normal English rules so Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trademarks would apply to the word "Relax". Hi, part of the point of semi-protection is to encourage the IP to create an account so that a discussion can be had about COI and how to request changes on talk. This can't be done when the IP address keeps changing, and pending changes is unlikely to achieve it. If you really are unwilling to add semi-protection, please add the page to your watchlist so that you can maintain it from now on, as I prefer not to work with pending changes. SarahSV (talk) 19:25, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

There is not enough activity at this time to require semi protection. In fact there isn't really much justification for pending but because of who you are I figured it was acceptable. However, you should stop with the attempts to guilt me into doing what you ask. Have you thought about a range block? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 05:21, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
Taking the article off my watchlist is no skin off my nose, and it's not a question of trying to "guilt" you. It's that an editor asked for help at RfPP with a long-term problem, and an admin responded by making things harder for that editor (in that editor's opinion), then dug his heels in about it. That's just not a good use of RfPP.
Pending changes is fiddly and adds to the workload. In addition, the problem is long-term, so looking at whether there's "enough activity at this time" for semi-protection missed the point. And if semi-protection can't be justified in your view, a range block certainly can't. The IP isn't doing anything wrong from their perspective; they simply need to be stopped from doing it at that article so they create an account, which will allow discussion to take place about apparent COI and how to request edits. The easiest way to achieve that was with semi-protection. But I'm repeating myself, so I'll leave it there. SarahSV (talk) 21:49, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for going through the whole list (yet again), much appreciated.--Ymblanter (talk) 09:37, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Request to remove move blocks by User:BereanHunter

Good afternoon User:CambridgeBayWeather Wikipedia Administrator,

As a Cypriot Greek in Camden , London I noticed that trying to submit a draft on Theatro Technis on the Wikipedia EN page has been restricted to administrators by a User Berean Hunter, a) 04:20, 28 February 2020 Berean Hunter talk contribs protected Draft:Theatro Technis [Create=Require administrator access] (indefinite) (Repeatedly recreated) which in reality means zero chance of it happening. b) I noticed on this User`s talk page that BereanHunter has been removed as a check user : changes to functionary team[edit] At his own request, the Oversight permission of Someguy1221 are removed. In addition, in accordance with the policy on CheckUser and Oversighter inactivity, the CheckUser rights of Berean Hunter are removed. The Arbitration Committee sincerely thanks Someguy1221 and Berean Hunter for their service as functionaries. For the Arbitration Committee, Katietalk 15:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC) Discuss this at: Wikipedia talk:Arbitration Committee/Noticeboard § changes to functionary team c) I also have noticed that you have on a previous occasion removed his administrator access] (indefinite) on the Angelique Rockas article but still restricted its editing. d) There is something wrong here as Theatro Technis and Angelique Rockas are artistically linked , and suspicions arise as to whether this User was an ethno racist. e)Googling and binging the artist Angelique Rockas you can also see that there are serious omissions of her theatre work. Can this be attributed to User:BereanHunter and colluders? Can you remedy this? Thank you IPG adress recorded Keep safe! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.191.67.225 (talk) 11:51, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

I can't make sense of this. It's just a non-stop, small wall of text. Berean Hunter is an administrator and call deal with your request but I suggest that you don't insult people. 12:01, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
Good Morning @CambridgeBayWater

Sorry for the messy post and my inadequacy, and I apologize for the insult. Thank you for the link to Berean Hunter ,which on its contribution page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Berean_Hunter reveals that he has not operated as a Wikipedia administrator and contributor since October 1st 2020. Berean Hunter has also been removed by the Wikipedia Arbitration Committee from being a CheckUser. This leaves the problem that any submission of an article by the lay public on Theatro Technis (in red ) seen in the Angelique Rockas article is restricted to a draft only submitted by administrators. As previously indicated in reality this means zero chance of it happening. My request to you please is that you remove this block by the non operational Berean Hunter on the Draft Theatro Technis , as well as blocks to the lay public on the Angelique Rockas page and allow the lay public to do its job. On the Angelique Rockas page the connection to work at Theatro Technis is considerable , and the work related to Internationalist Theatre and work as an artist is in need of citation, text for the production photographs on this page, performances and reception et. It has not had any contributions for quite some time. As you are the most recent monitor on this artist`s page there is no need for blocks as you will be policing it for any fakery. Thank you Keep safe IPG address recorded — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.191.67.225 (talk) 12:42, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

I'm not the moderator, nobody is, for Angelique Rockas and I don't think reducing the protection level is a good idea. As for the Theatro Technis there is nothing to stop you from creating an account and starting the article in you own user space. Hello. Question re: article - Decentralized Trials and Research Alliance (DTRA)

Good morning,

Thanks for the guidance on the DTRA page. I just had two quick questions, and I'm hoping you wouldn't mind sharing your advice. Since the articles cited were publicly available, do I need to obtain the copyright permission to cite or quote from them, or was my use proper? In addition, were the quotes simply too long? I felt that I could make the point with much shorter quotes, but wanted to confirm if the length of the three quotes were problematic.

I edited a few articles some years ago, but this is the first article I've actually written for Wikipedia, so I'm looking for whatever guidance you can share. Thank you, in advance.

Jnobianchi. Do you have a link to where the material was released under a licence compatible with Wikipedia. The original posting. Being freely available is not the same thing as being available as CC BY-SA and GFDL. It looked like a press release and as such shouldn't really be added. Short quotes are OK but need to be identified as such. Example "this is a quote" and a reference. Also the article shouldn't be built on what a company says about itself. It should be built on what others say. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:29, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

@CambridgeBayWeather: Thank you - I'm not sure if this is the right way to respond, but can't figure out where else to respond. clearly, I'm having trouble. I'm not sure where I would find the link to where source material is released under license. Do I need to contact the webmaster at the publication's website to get that link? I'm sorry to be asking so many incredibly basic questions, but I'm really very confused by the process. Again, I appreciate your patience. John Jnobianchi (talk) 18:00, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Jnobianchi My apologies. I realised that there was only the one line, part of a sentence, from the official press release. I have restored the article at Decentralized Trials & Research Alliance as it doesn't need the (DTRA). I fixed the quote so that it is obvious. However, if you could rewrite that in your own words it would be better. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 23:40, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

Miscellany Direct Differentiation and Integration of Logarithms

I searched the main space and I'm sure it's not covered at all. This is from historical time point of view. Differentiation and Integration remained unsolved for a long time since 80's and before at time of big Calculus. Now a days, it is solved and referenced, and all Mathematics Scientists are using it in their university classes from the highest level to high school levels. So this is famous and important topic showing time passed (on logarithms) while incomplete topic in mathematics. No any article in wikipedia shows this perspective of logarithms and mathematics. This is posted to all voters

Kkmal.Hamouda. You don't need to start a new section every time you post here. I didn't "vote" on your article. Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Direct differentiation and integration of logarithms was a discussion about keeping or deleting the actual draft. I closed the discussion, having read and assessed all the points made, and deleted the article. This was in no way based on the non-existence of an article. The editors discussing felt that the topic was already covered in other places on Wikipedia and that this draft did not expand on that. If you wish I can restore it to User:Kkmal.Hamouda/sandbox where you can work on it and there will be less chance of it being deleted. Please readd these credited sources. Due to vandalism they were repeatedly removed, and now I cannot readd them - page: Jake Angeli

In prosecution against him, prosecutors wrote that "strong evidence, including Chansley's own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States government." The filing describes Chansley as "a self-proclaimed leader of the QAnon" and drug user who "demonstrates scattered and fanciful thoughts, and is unable to appreciate reality. He is the shaman of a dangerous extremist group, putting his beliefs into action by attempting to violently overthrow the United States government." [1]

Chansley has since disavowed his allegiance to Trump and has stated he would testify against him, claiming he feels "betrayed" Trump did not pardon him.[2]

Hello. I do not understand this edit. No explanation given, and it is used on articles. Does seem historical. A mistake or? Christian75 (talk) 17:45, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Christian75 Thanks for catching that. It was from Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Nudity portal subpages. I was using Twinkle and missed that Portal:Nudity/Nudity-related topics was a redirect to the template. I removed the historical tag and added it the portal page. Please remove full protection on Cultural Marxism conspiracy theory

Hi, can you please remove the full protection you placed on this article Cultural Marxism conspiracy theory. Those of us who regularly edit that article do so respectfully and without much conflict or disruption overall. Recently this user Jfraatz just turned up and started edit warring, there is no need to punish all of the regular editors because a single disruptive editor turns up launches into an editwar, the article should be open to non-disruptive editors, and Jfraatz should be blocked for edit warring. I don't see a full protection (which looks like collective punishment of non-disruptive and disruptive editors alike) as necessary, it seems like a massive overkill, why cant we just block the disruptive editor: Jfraatz? They turned up, started edit warring and never discussed anything at talk, why are we being punished for their behavior? Can you please remove the full protection and sanction the disruptive party rather than all of us? Bacondrum 01:08, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Kadir Mısıroğlu

The user Aybeg has reverted all credible news article sources with cheap, yellow journalism conspiracy theory reports. You might want to check out his recent edits and revert his POV inspired changes. He sounds very emotional. Careful. Thanks, 176.55.114.194 (talk) 17:52, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Music (Sia) - Difficulty in reaching discussions...

There are two users, Ssilvers and Peterpie123rww who are proving, difficult to actually get into discussions with. I think they have a rather strong bias against IP editors, and I did let myself get caught up in the heat of the moment in some of the earlier edits of the page a bit (my fault there).

Myself, and other editors really, have tried to open discussions, provide reasoning, and so forth, but these two editors are proving rather difficult to actually properly discuss things with, whenever I raise points they are rather quick to just accuse me of edit warring and sockpuppetry and not actually address the edits. I did try to open a RfC, but they largely refused to participate. The protection period did help things cool down, but it seems to be picking up pace again gradually.

I'm not familiar with all of the different disciplinary and advisory channels, and I'm hesitant to go accusing them of meatpuppetry or some other nefarious activity, but it really does seem like we have a slight problem here.

I guess I'm asking you as a far more senior individual who hasn't really been involved in the page, but is aware of it, to perhaps help sort this mess out a little bit, either opening up an actual discussion with them, or if you feel it's necessary, taking some action in the matter.

Likewise if I'm still making any missteps, I'd love to know so I can fix it out, I am doing my best on learning different bits, but wikipedia does have a tremendous amount of rules, regulations, and community consensuses!

So interesting to be pinged here by this edit warrior! Yes, please do look into the history of edits on that page. -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:03, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
At it with the name-calling again. I won't get into an argument on Cambridge's page, but honestly, I'm just trying to actually foster some reasonable communication and discussion, so some actual productive editing can happen, and we can avoid any nasty edit wars or other such incidents. As stated, the RfC failed to move things forward much, my hope is Cambridge if they are up to it might act as an unbiased witness to this all so we can civilly sort it out and work out what needs to be done. 188.220.86.46 (talk) 02:26, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

Courtesy in edit summaries

Hello, and thank you for applying semi-protection status to the article, Little Nightmares II. I wish to inquire your view of the summaries being applied to edits most of which occurring 20 February 2021 (some later). I have left a message on the user's talk page, asking them (kindly) to please refrain from using vulgar and abusive remarks in edit summaries; I have not issued an official reprimand. I'm writing because I would like to know your stance on them, that is to say, that the rude remarks are currently visible to all. Should the summaries remain as typed, or should they be adjusted accordingly? I'm not asking for any action to be taken, but I am wondering what the Wikipedia policy is regarding leaving the summaries, however rude they appear, as typed? Thank you in advance for the clarification. — Christopher, Sheridan, OR (talk) 06:42, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

DeNoel. The summaries are unpleasant but don't really rise to the level of blocking or needing to be removed. Your warning was good and I added one for the personal attack. There is more information at Help:Edit summary#What to avoid in edit summaries and Wikipedia:Civility#Edit summary dos and don'ts. • When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
  • There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).

Thanks re: IP editor's flag infractions

Hi CBW. Thank you for the efforts to revert the flag icon infractions of the IP editor that seemingly has a keen interest in rural municipalities/equivalents. While most of the IP edits appear to be in good faith, many have similarly been problematic, and the fact that the editor is unregistered and hops from IP address to IP address, sometimes on a daily basis, there is no watchlist for this person at the IP addresses for the editor to view the edit summaries conveying reasons for reversions. Communication is therefore difficult. What recourse is there to compel an editor that regularly hops IP addresses to at least stop hopping and remain at just the one IP address? Ideally the editor would just register. I'm semi-retired on here and can't keep up with fixing all the erroneous edits, sometimes in good faith and other times intentionally (edit warring).

The IP editor was first brought to my attention in 2020 (see final two paragraphs here). There has been a fury of edits at six other IPs in the past two weeks. I regretfully think the IP editor is actually a registered user that isn't logging in so as to do mass editing that aligns to their point of view and not previously established consensus or facts that the editor wants to suppress for some reason.

Anyway, a list of at least seven IP that appear to be the same editor is listed below. They all geolocate to the same location in either northern Calgary, Airdrie or in between.

I might add other IPs to the above list as I retrace my steps. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 06:22, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Hwy43. There's nothing can be done to stop the jumping. From what I understand IPv6 address change frequently. Range blocks help. They make good edits at the same time so they can't just be rolled back. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 18:53, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello again. Thanks for the above reply. Can you remind me of the process to request an editor be blocked if they continue to disrupt following a fourth warning? I've just applied a fourth level warning to 70.77.224.98, who reverted me after the editor finally reached out and I responded, conveying the consensus. I fully expect the editor won't stop. Is it ANI? I edit much less frequently than I once did so I forget some of the processes. Cheers, Hwy43 (talk) 06:27, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
In this case I would say yes ANI. You need a range block and I'm unsure how to do that. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 16:03, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi. A few weeks another user moved the page Kurdistan Islamic Group to Kurdistan Justice Group, citing a Rudaw article saying the party had changed its name. Shortly afterward you deleted the new page and redirected both the original article and the new one to Ali Bapir, the party's leader, citing WP:R3. I'm not sure I understand why. What about the new name seems implausible? If there needs to be a discussion before moving the article to a new name, then shouldn't the original article at least be restored? Thanks for your time. Bulbajer (talk) 23:32, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

Bulbajer. Not quite like that. 5hw4n moved Kurdistan Islamic Group] to Wikipedia:Kurdistan Justice Group (note the Wikipedia at the start). They realised their error and moved it to Kurdistan Justice Group. I then deleted the redirect, Wikipedia:Kurdistan Justice Group, as the Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#R3. Implausible typos as people don't normally type Wikipedia:Article. Several hours before I did all that Onel5969 redirected Kurdistan Justice Group to Ali Bapir as being poorly sourced for years. To finish the clean up I redirected Kurdistan Islamic Group to Ali Bapir as well. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 18:07, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello there, I posted a picture for which I am the rightful owner, but someone else posted that picture before me on the web and took credit for it. You requested that my picture be deleted from wikipedia. First, here is the picture: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Flying_dodo_brewery_inside.jpg and here is the link you sent me: https://metro.co.uk/2018/03/11/mauritius-at-50-25-things-to-see-and-do-while-youre-on-the-indian-ocean-island-7372334/ To prove that my picture is the original, you can look at the logo on the bar. You will see the logo is a signage found on the actual bar itself. On the picture on metro website you will see that the logo has been edited plus another one has been added on top as well. This picture was actually taken from the website of the Flying Dodo itself: http://www.flyingdodo.com/flying_dodo_1.jpg. But when you compare all the pictures, you can see that my version is the original. I would greatly appreciate if you could leave my picture on wikipedia then. Thank you! And good day ahead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mauritianbeerguy (talkcontribs) 05:55, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

Mauritianbeerguy. I'm a bit unclear about this. Is the picture at http://www.flyingdodo.com/flying_dodo_1.jpg the one you took? If so that is still a copyright violation as there is no evidence that it was released under a licence that is compatible with Wikipedia. What about the other two pictures you uploaded? Also are you associated with the brewery? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 18:04, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
CambridgeBayWeather. Thanks for reverting back! I'm new, and a bit lost here. Anyway, so I gave the original picture to the brewery back in 2016 who edited it by adding their logo on it and posted it on their website. Hence, I posted on wikipedia the original and unedited picture, whilst the brewery posted an edited picture. The reporter on metro then copied the same picture from the brewery's website and posted it on metro and put her name on it. The other 2 pictures are also mine. I am not related to the brewery but I follow them since day 1 and I am a hardcore fan! --Mauritianbeerguy (talk) 05:25, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
As long as you are not related to the company it should be good. You may want to talk to User talk:Túrelio on Commons and ask about the deleted picture. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:33, 1 April 2021 (UTC)

Hello. I can't tell if Draft:Hitmakerz, Draft:Shauna Seeteenak and Draft: Angela Amarualik are hopelessly promotional or potentially promising, so I thought I would point them out to the only editor I know north of 60. Hope all is well up there.--- Possibly (talk) 09:29, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Hitmakerz looks spammy and had copyright material. However, it could be OK. They had Kelly Fraser as an artist. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 16:30, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Timathioye. No worries. It can be difficult being here. The image isn't mine so I can't take credit. I have nominated it for deletion at Commons and it will get taken care of over there. At the moment Shauna Seeteenak isn't notable enough. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:09, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Can you explain this deletion?

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. I'm a newbie looking to work on the Burden of Disease pages. I noticed you were involved in removing some [work] Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Riceissa/Animal Charity Evaluators of a user for their work on "Animal Charity Evaluators", which triggered an investigation into the rest of their work. I have some questions on this before I contribute - can you help me answer them here or elsewhere?

Thanks for considering!

--Whiskiz (talk) 11:34, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Whiskiz. I deleted them because consensus agreed that they should. As to the specifics I can't recall. But you can ask me some questions. Here for now. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 11:41, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! Indeed, I read [thread] in which the votes to delete were taken. Apologies in advance if some of these questions are very silly:

·What was the ultimate reason that Riceissa [blocked?]

·You claimed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Riceissa/Global_Burden_of_Disease_Study was an example of a [article]. Ethanbas and DGG seemed to think this was a permissable example of writing a draft with the intention of getting others to collaborate on it on his page and then post it. Can you help me understand how to draw the line between when a draft to collaborate is permissible on one's user page, and why this example was NOT permissible?

·Riceissa also indexed other articles, which caused a lot of uproar according to the thread I linked. As one editor commented, " “The additions of the "INDEX" code are clear indications that the intention is to host "articles" on userspace in violation of policy." In short, what is up with that?

Cheers for the guidance & taking the time!

Whiskiz (talk) 15:20, 16 April 2021 (UTC)

Whiskiz. I think you may have a bit of a misunderstanding of how Wikipedia works. None of the comments should be counted as votes in that discussion. VQuakr made a proposal that Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Riceissa/Animal Charity Evaluators should be deleted and gave a explanation as to why. Other editors then had their say and, for the most part, provided a valid reason why. After nine days I reviewed the comments and, based on the valid remarks, felt that the consensus was to delete. I personally had no opinion one way or the other as to the validity of the pages but was guided by consensus. If I had made a comment as to keeping or deleting then I would have not been eligible to close the discussion.
As to the blocking of Riceissa. That was down to them being a paid editor. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive948#Vipul's paid editing enterprise, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive948#Riceissa, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive949#Vipul, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive288#Vipul's paid editing enterprise, again and Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive953#Ethanbas, Riceissa, and Vipul. re Richard Anbudurai

Since the RFPP entry got archived, I can answer here - I first moved it to draft thinking it was just your run-of-the-mill undersourced/somewhat COI article (I didn't first check deletion logs). After seeing that I realized that more action was probably necessary, since there was no value in keeping the draft around, so I speedy tagged it as well as requesting salting of the mainspace article title. I wasn't sure if moving the draft back to mainspace would've made sense - since although I never should've moved it to draftspace (and simply speedied it), reverting to bring something not article-worthy back to mainspace didn't make sense to me.

Hope that explains it, sorry if I was a bit rambley. Thanks for salting the title! Elli (talk | contribs) 01:14, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

A search of the subject in Wikipedia shows he has been associated with other Wikipedia articles. How can I recreate this article with your help? Thanks. Bibihans (talk)Bibihans

Super Bowl LVI

May I suggest you re-protect Super Bowl LVI? It took less than a day from the protection lapsing to the first problematic anonymous edit. The upcoming superbowl has always been a target of daily and increasingly frequent vandalism in the months running up to the actual event. I'd suggest protecting it until 28 February 2022, which will be enough time for the hoopla to die down after the event. Regards, Tarl N. (discuss) 03:54, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Very long term IP edit warring

Hi CambridgeBayWeather. After studying WP:AN3#User:168.245.155.5 reported by User:Firefangledfeathers (Result: ) I am thinking of doing an indefinite semiprotection on List of Hail Mary passes in American football. Would you disagree? It looks like the same guy has been trying to insert his material for the last five years. EdJohnston (talk) 18:38, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Other than the template and ARBCOM required I'm not a fan of indefinite. Regular editors know the what that means but others don't always see the difference between "indefinite" and "infinite". I prefer a set time, such as 5 years, but I won't object if you do make it indefinite. I have a concern over things like Women's rights, protected in 2007, Buttocks, protected in 2008. Now there may be vandalism on Women's rights if unprotected and I would certainly expect it on buttocks but I think they should be given a chance. Then there are articles like John Michell (writer), only ever protected once in 2008. Straight from nothing to indefinite and he died in 2009. There are others like that where a person may have had some polarising action once but years ago. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 21:50, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
OK, I have now semiprotected the article five years. That's how long the IP has been doing his thing. Thanks for your reply, EdJohnston (talk) 16:08, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi there. We seem to be having a persistent IP vandalism issue with this article. I was wondering if we could get perhaps 30 days "semi"? - Ahunt (talk) 16:21, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

It seems slow at the moment. I went with 30 days pending. If it increases let me know. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:33, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Question

Hi,

I am just wondering how best to add the information. I have created the source material. Following your message, I think it would be better to copy only a small amount of summarised text. Would this be ok? and what pitfalls should I avoid to bring it in-line with Wikipedia rules?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lincs EUS (talkcontribs)

Lincs EUS. You should rewrite it in your own words. Yes summarised. A bit difficult I suppose if you wrote the original material. You could if necessary include small quotes but they should be marked as such. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 16:18, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for protecting the article. Please revert the current revision to the one which is not contested by editors. The current revision doesn't have a consensus on the talk page and the user broke WP:3RR for which was also reported to the administrators.--ParoleSonore (talk) 17:18, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

ParoleSonore I see two people discussing but that does not make a consensus. Perhaps you and Nemo_bis should look at WP:Dispute resolution. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:25, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
No, we are not the only one who are discussing. IvanScrooge98 and Markworthen had their say and the user is ignoring them as well.--ParoleSonore (talk) 17:28, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
I also asked for additional comments from users active at the WikiProject Rock music if their say will change the consensus anyhow. Please reinstate the previous revision which is not contested by the editors (the section style was also part of the dispute). The user Nemo bis's edit needs to have a consensus but doesn't and exactly because of that was edit warring on the article breaking the three revert rule (WP:TALKDONTREVERT). That revision cannot stay on the article, it's against the WP:CONSENSUS. Sorry, now see that the most controversial part cannot be seen by the public. You have done a good job.--ParoleSonore (talk) 17:40, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
OK. I looked through the whole thing. Somebody else will need to deal with the WP:3RR. The bit that is under dispute seems to be hidden. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:52, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Vugar Jamalzadeh

Hi — I came across two nearly identical articles created by a new user Manistro74, both unreferenced BLPs: Vugar jamalzadeh and Vugar Jamalzadeh. I was going to move them to drafts, and ask the creating editor to pick one to keep and add sources, but then I noticed that you had moved the latter into the mainspace, so thought I'd better check with you first in case I'm missing something? Thanks, --DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:46, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

DoubleGrazing It got moved to draft. I only moved it to article space because I found it at User:Vugar Jamalzadeh and I wasn't sure if he was notable. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 14:44, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

Mohammad Dahlan

You have prevented me from adding material on the relationship between Turkey and Mohammed Dahlan, protecting a reversion that removes some very well sourced information (I could add significant additional sources if that was even an issue). There is no material now on the relationship between Turkey and Dahlan. This is despite the Turkish Government seeking his arrest via Interpol, twice, despite allegations made by the Turkish Government on his connections to the attempted Coup, and despite allegations made by the Turkish Government about his connection to the murder of jamal Khashoggi - None of these things are related to Israel in any meaningful way, but you've reverted them and prevented me from re-adding them. The man is a key player in what the ECFR says is the Turkey-UAE rivalry that is "remaking the Middle East", but there is no sign of that in the page, and now I can't add it. This is significant information that is separate from the Israeli Palestinian Conflict. Can you please explain why ? Do you not want this info there ? Berocca Addict (talk) 08:25, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Berocca Addict It has nothing to do with me wanting or not wanting any information in the article. A request was made for protection. I looked and the tag on the talk page has been there since 2012. So take it to Talk:Mohammed Dahlan. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:31, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
But, you took the decision to effectively prevent updated information being added to the page about Non I/P conflict items - no one has added extremely pertinent information, the article is seriously out of date, and you have locked out updates. Can you either undo this protection for as long as no one is editing the I/P conflict information, or, review the edits you have locked out and add them yourself. If additional sources are required, they can be provided. Berocca Addict (talk) 17:14, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Berocca Addict Part of protecting is not taking a side. I know nothing about him except that he falls under Wikipedia:Arbitration/Index/Palestine-Israel articles and as such "All IP editors, accounts with fewer than 500 edits, and accounts with less than 30 days tenure are prohibited from editing any page that could be reasonably construed as being related to the Arab–Israeli conflict." CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:22, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
The decision you took was to protect a page that was being updated on issues not connected to the I/P conflict, using the I/P conflict as the reason. Now the pertinent material to the significant and ongoing issues relating to Dahlan and Turkey, and indeed Dahlan and his role as the "fixer" for the UAE simply aren't there. I can't fix this, and they have little if anything to do with the I/P conflict. I am asking you to, so, review your actions and either remove the protection as it's not relevant to the edits being made, or, make the edits yourself using the numerous sources provided, and I can provide more if required. Because of the action that you took, the article reads the same as it could have done almost a decade ago. Berocca Addict (talk) 13:13, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
See Talk:Mohammed Dahlan. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 15:49, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
It is a laregly ignored space, and isn't the encyclopedia. The action that you took responsibility for has resulted in the article being out of date, and missing large quantities of relevant information from the past decade. I've posted additional sources on the talk page. Can you please review and either add the text to the article page, or remove the protection so someone who is willing, can. Berocca Addict (talk) 20:38, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
I am not going to review it. The fact that no one has added it is an indication that nobody wants to. Have you used {{Request edit}}? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 21:04, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Sungai Batu

Can I ask why you history-merged Civilization of Sungai Batu into Sungai Batu? I can't find any discussion or request for it anywhere. – Joe (talk) 21:12, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

I was being bold. The article Civilization of Sungai Batu wasn't about the civilization really but about the archaeological site and mostly duplicated by Sungai Batu. So I merged them and moved it to Sungai Batu. It could have been at Sungai Batu archaeological site or Sungai Batu Archaeological Site but Civilization of Sungai Batu was the wrong title. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 21:35, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
But we don't usually use history merge for ordinary text merges, do we? The article was in a passable state before but the merged text is poorly-written and poorly-sourced, so this seems to have created a mess that nobody can now undo? – Joe (talk) 04:47, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

I broke Slave catcher to Slave catcher (Brazil) and Slave catcher (United States) to resolve a many-year-old {{Globalize}} tag.

Now that you moved "Slave catcher (United States)" to "slave catcher", the article is even more US-focused (without Brazil).

How can we resolve this?–CaroleHenson (talk) 16:46, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

CaroleHenson. I saw that. However "Slave catcher" was a redirect to "Slave catcher (United States)". So as per Wikipedia:Article titles I moved it. I couldn't see the need for the disambiguation in the title when the redirect was free. I'll edit the opening to make sure it is obviously about the US. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 16:54, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! If I had known that created a redirect would have caused a problem, I wouldn't have created it. I thought about making "slave catcher" as a disambig page, but it would just have 2 entries, which is a problem. Much appreciated, it's good to know the Article titles issue.–CaroleHenson (talk) 17:04, 23 June 2021 (UTC)
No worries. I figured the US article was the main and making a disambiguation at "slave catcher" wasn't necessary. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 17:07, 23 June 2021 (UTC)

Mari Stull

Can you explain why you accuse me of "persistent disruptive" Stull has never been a "blogger" although the column she wrote for a local newspaper in a Washington suburb was online. SHe is an international food policy expert as can be recognized from her work on food policy at the US Department of Agriculture, the Food and Agricultural Organization, various western hemisphere inter-governmental agricultural organizations. Wine is an agricultural product but her range of professional activities is not limited to that. This guy "Horse Eyed Jack" maligns her by refusing to allow anyone to say anything favorable about her, it's libel through Wikipedia. I suspect he paid to do this by someone who is trying to destroy Ms. Stull -- who I have never met but I object to anyone being ruined by this Horse Eyed Jack, Horse Eye's Back, or any of the other multiple identities he is using. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:180:C101:7430:A061:2445:5934:4AC3 (talk) 15:47, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

It says here that she was a blogger. Removing sourced material is disruptive. However, you need to discuss your concerns at Talk:Mari Stull. In doing so you need to stop suggesting that Horse Eye's Back is running sockpuppets and throwing around words like "libel" as that is disruptive and will lead to your blocking. COVID-19 lab leak hypothesis page

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, there have been many political developments with the COVID-19 lab leak hypothesis, and statements from the US President Biden, the 13 other governments, and the European Union, as well as a lot of reputable scientists. There have been many discussions across all our COVID-19 pages about how to cover this controversy and CNET just wrote an article about us [1], which I added to Wikipedia coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am working with Dream Focus to write a new draft on the controversy [2], because editors say that many of its intricate details are not WP:DUE for the more general COVID-19 pages. Please can you advise if we should first request to undeleted the old draft that was deleted [3] or use the article page that was redirected [4]? Thanks. CutePeach (talk) 09:06, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=COVID-19_lab_leak_hypothesis&oldid=1009196063 was never sent to AFD. Was the deleted draft by the same name the same thing or something different? If its something else, then just restore that article, and we can work from there. I didn't know it existed when I started my draft. Dream Focus 15:10, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
