Please have a look into a couple of matters ...

(1) Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Macromolecular assembly. Rejection of stub article for want of formatting: if I take an hour of professional time to draft an article that is (a) absent in any form at present, and (b) better in substance and more referenced than many chemistry stubs -- in order to create a context for other wiki material already appearing -- why is it pro forma rejected for lack of section formatting (with no substantive content issues raised)? I do what I do best. Cannot an imperfect stub vis-a-vis formatting go forward, for others then to improve?

(2) Article on Marco Rubio. Here I was disturbed by what appeared to be bias in the section on personal life: limited description of his spouse (omitting hispanic heritage, listing only a single occupational aspect, cheerleader), and, further, omission of his office's formal response to a news report he had "embellished" his parents immigration story.

I edited these two sections to add content from referenced sources, in particular, drawing the balance from the same Washington Post story that provided the negative content.

The edit was reverted as being "over the top" (?!?), without a further substantive word (no talk). I reverted it back, for want of substance to the initial reversion.

It appears the the reverting individual has bias in this issue (as judged by my more recent discovery of a talk debate over the presentation of the immigration history issue, between him and a additional seemingly biased individual on the other side of the question.

Since my edit was (i) fact-based, adding references in both Rubio-positive (spouse representation) and -negative (immigration history) directions, (ii) uses the same source as the original version (the WP article) to balance the section on the immigration controversy, (iii) adds the detail that the WP report led to revision of the Senator's web pages on the matter (a possibly perceived negative), alongside his counter-explanation to the charge of embellishment (a possibly perceived positive) -- I ask that my edit be allowed to stand, or that the matter be elevated as appropriate (so that the back and forth on this section ceases).

(3) Fyi, recent work done on Burgi-Dunitz and Flippin-Lodge articles is substantially mine.

That I have to write such things as 1 and 2 here, and waste both of our time, has as opportunity cost other content not being written, and continues to fuel my speculation that this commitment to this organization is a waste of time.

I am studying for the bar exam now, so I won't be able to attend to any of this for a week or two. I agree that your macromolecular assembly article should have gone live, and if it hasn't been resolved when I return, I'll move it into mainspace. Thanks, Calliopejen1 (talk) 17:25, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Apologies.

Jen, just saw the header indicating your busy summer. Apologies for tossing this in. If you can pass it on to someone in your network, great. More in the issue of poor editing of new science article by science faculty

Jen when time permits, please see relevant talk entries related to my "macromolecular assemblies" article, discussing credentials, badgering, walkers versus talkers, etc. Perhaps, if you have time for one thing, you can find someone seniorin wikipedia to whom this process concern can be elevated. (If discussion dies this time, I'm gone.) This said to you because of your apparent accomplishment (since you will understand what the demands of the non-wiki world are like), and because you're experiencing, in this summer, the juggling and demands of life that will be more or less normal for the rest of it -- where time demands of other major, future "projects" will replace the current timeline and milestones of getting hitched! Bottom line here, life is too short for work-related commitments that do not bear proportionate fruit (which is what wiki currently is for me). If too arduous, they impinge, overly, on other truly important things. If I can ascertain with someone senior at wiki, Y/N, if there is any long-term hope for changes in process that might lead to higher quality quality scientific content, it will help me to my necessary decision-point. Cheers, and best wishes for the bar and the big event.

Moving Burma to Myanmar - ongoing poll

This is to let you know that an ongoing poll is taking place to move Burma to Myanmar. I know this happened just recently but no administrator would close these frequent rm's down, so here we go again. This note is going out to wikipedia members who have participated in Burma/Myanmar name changing polls in the past. It does not include banned members nor those with only ip addresses. Thank you. Hi Calliopejen1!

Dthomsen8 and I are trying to get WikiProject Guyana going again. I noticed you made a great contribution to the Religion in Guyana article. Any chance you might be up for joining the project? All best wishes, Lorelei (talk) 12:18, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, can you find me an image of this with prisoners eating in it or something in whatever state archives you can think of. As a state institution there must be PD gov photos of it. Is this PD or not, its of the Alcatraz Library.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:33, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks!♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:12, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

See pages 10-32 here. There's tons of PD photographs I need for Alcatraz Citadel. Can you indicate where I can access them or help upload them somehow?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:17, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Also I wondered if you could access national archives or whatever which might list all of the prisoners ever held at Alcatraz. I would be good for rooting out missing notable criminals, not to to mention being a valuable record on here. I was right, list here in the National Archives. This though is more valuable as it lists the inmates in order of arrival and details on their crimes and when they got out. Can you do me a favour and try to compile a resourceful table in excel or something which would list them both in order of arrival and in alpha order in sortable tables or something and create List of inmates of Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary ? I've started Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary also today and it would be a useful link in the notable inmates section to have a full list. Also if you can find any more free images of its time as a penitentiary this would be much appreciated! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:49, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

PUF/FFD

Hi Jen. Thought you might not be aware of WP:PUF, which is usually a good way of proposing possibly non-free files for deletion (it frees up FFD for other deletion-related discussions). Magog the Ogre (tc) 22:48, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I maybe should use that more. I used to avoid it because of the 14-day system, and a general feeling that it wasn't much better than FFD, but I know that it has gone to 7 days too now. I try to nominate there when I think there are complex issues raised that can use the eyes of knowledgeable people, and I nominate at FFD where I think something is almost certainly a copyvio or needs more information from the uploader (as opposed to additional research) to show its free status. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:40, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Well I went out of my way to change PUF to 7 days in order to avoid precisely this problem. Anyway, a good rule of thumb might rather be, if the problem is it's non-free, it goes to PUF; if there are any other problems whatsoever, FFD. Magog the Ogre (tc) 16:28, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

File:UEmb.jpg

It appears you attempted to nominate File:UEmb.jpg for deletion, but I could not find it in the deletion log, so I have removed the FFD tag. Feel free to renominate it if the reason for your original nomination is still valid and you are ready to complete the nomination process. Monty845 06:43, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Question

Are you aware that the proponents of the Gibraltarpedia moratorium also wish to ban articles about Spain and Morocco? Do you support that? You might wish to consider this in relation to your vote to support a moratorium. Prioryman (talk) 20:21, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Bharat Kala Bhavan, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/museums/museum-profile/Bharat+Kala+Bhavan/3953.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Education: [6] Calliopejen1 (talk) 16:07, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

The urban portion of Varanasi District had an infant mortality rate of 70 per 1,000 live births as of 2010-2011.[1]

Saw your post on "ban Gibraltar DYKs for 1 year". So you'd oppose it if I expanded Algeciras from User:Gibmetal77/sandbox/Algeciras fully translating and sourcing it to a high quality articles and nom it for DYK. You'd say it is right to block it even though the work that had gone into it was done for free for a good purpose. It falls within Gibraltarpedia territory...♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:48, 27 October 2012 (UTC)

Algeciras is within Gibraltarpedia's territory though and would arguably one of the most important articles, commercially! Thanks for starting the cleanup of Varanasi, I'll start compiling a further reading section later which might help for gathering sources later.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 08:36, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

Lihaas has practically reverted everything on Varanasi, I'd revert back, a lot of the poorly written.sourced stuff has returned.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 15:12, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

Dunno, I have a rather dubious relationship with some of the WP:India members right now after I said its extremely unlikely a native will come along and write a decent sourced article. Have you seen my proposal on on Village pump proposals, that's what started it., a disgust of the state of average Pakistan and India articles. I'd be willing to put the effort into Varanasi but I suspect it'll be reverted. I've put your version in User:Calliopejen1/Varanasi, I'll work on it there with you if you like. If a few of us work on it bey the time we add to mainspace it'll be hard to dispute then. You are welcome to add history to Marrakech from the new History of Marrakech article to ensure it is fully comprehensive but concise. If you could find the most important missing info and make it concise in the main article with what's there this would be great. Once DYK'd I'll condense the Landmarks of Marrakesh to a reasonable size and GA nom, quite a lot to do yet though. Did you also see the Honiara expansion? Again Landmarks needs a cut but another possible GA..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 17:02, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

That's exactly why you see I am no longer involved in continous mass stubbing and spend most of my time on quality nowadays on more core articles. Bjarke Ingels is my most recent GA with Ipigott. Most of the article people in the west care about and expect to be decent are not and I've been here 6 years and few of them have developed, some have degraded with haphazard lists and unsourced text actually. I still think Varanasi is worthy of the time and effort and a super interesting place. I will begin compiling a further reading section in your sandbox.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 17:33, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

Did you see Door to Hell?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:31, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Can you use the sfn notes, very easy, ref=harv at the end of the bibliography citations. Use http://reftag.appspot.com/ to draw up refs.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 22:11, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Varanasi

I will concentrate on landmarks such as temples, ghats, university and so forth and also on cleaning of the Ganges in the Varanasi section. I have added all that was necessary on history and the lead section. Please tell me before you want to delete some of my inputs. if you have any particular sections to be added please let me know. Thanks and you are doing a great job on the article. In fact the Sapta Puri article was a DYK, which I did in collaboration with User:Redtigerxyz. Thanks.--Nvvchar. 19:22, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Do me a favour Jen and let Nvv complete his inputs and then we can reedit it?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:41, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
Sure, I only removed one paragraph about a specific university course. I think many of the current edits might make sense in a new article Landmarks of Varanasi? Might make sense not to splice out now to preserve time for DYK if you guys want to go that route? I don't do DYK anymore because it got too complicated. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:44, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
I haven't finished thinking through what all is missing yet. We need some better info about culture in Varanasi, but it's pretty hard to separate from the religion section. I also think we should have a better explanation of the city's neighborhoods -- old city, new city, etc, and how it's all laid out. I have some good sources for that along with sources describing the city's architecture generally so hopefully I can add that soon. Demographics should be expanded - need to find the most recent census data to do that. I think some more info on health in the city - need to find sources for this. I have a good source for transport so I will also do that. We need more generic info about primary/secondary schools in Varanasi too. I think Kolkata is a good model article. That Sapta Puri article is great by the way! We'll have to be sure to link it from Varanasi so it isn't orphaned anymore! Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:54, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

I think it would have bene best yes that Nvvchar had concentrated his efforts into the landmark article first with as comprehensive as coverage as he could muster and then summarise the information in the main, I still urge him to do this..♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 19:56, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Both Kolkata and Mumbai are excellent articles but I think they both undercover architecture and landmarks. As landmarks form the physical body of a city I think it is very important to cover them comprehensively, but you can be in danger of overcovering them.♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 20:25, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

We may disagree a bit then... I agree that those are a little light on architecture/landmarks, but I don't think they're terrible. I generally don't like "landmarks" sections as such - I think the contents are generally better integrated into other sections (stadiums with sports, museums with culture, temples with religion, city hall with government, etc.). I think Istanbul, Washington, D.C., and Detroit are good models. Calliopejen1 (talk) 20:33, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

I didn't say they were terrible, they're great articles, but the landmarks coverage is definitely undercooked, "light" as you say. Not comprehensive enough. I primarily visit articles on cities and town to learn about their landmarks and history.

Proposal to delete Amphill RUFC article

Many thanks for messaging me regarding your proposal to delete my article about Ampthill RUFC. Obviously that's not news I like to receive but I would never have known if you had not mentioned it to me as I don't kepe a track of all of the articles I have written.

I have been working on producing articles for all current and former fifth tier rugby union clubs in England as this level, is seen as nationa level and I think partipating at national level is notable enough for each club which has reached this level to have their own article. Thus far I have completed this task for Northern and Midland teams and at some point I will finish the task by doing the London/SE and SW teams.

I've just taken a fresh look at this article because a major concern also seems to be about the level of basicness with this article is and it's fair to say that this is the most basic of all the pages I have created as part of this project. However, their website is very basic and contains very little information so I could only work with what was there. I have looked again at the article and added an additional sentence along with a reference so I hope this allays your concerns somewhat. However, I'm sure there are others who can assist with expanding this article rather than voting for deletion as it isn't just down to one person to work on these articles.{Rillington (talk) 16:45, 4 November 2012 (UTC)}

Good evening from the Far Calabria My Dear and Good Jen,

I'm writing to say hello and know how you are, beyond this to wish you a good happy week for you and your husband. I write also and above all to ask what items I cordially translate into Sicilian and Italian, according to our discussion in chat. I ask you to apologize for the delay and especially since I renewed my personal computer with some little something more, just to keep up with the times.

From my part, I wonder if you could expand a little and translate articles, of course, when the time is available for you, I do not want to waste your time..the real life is demanding 100%, but Wikipedia for some of us is our breakout daily and our source of creativity.

Articles I ask are 3:

Radio Studio 54 Network: Radio flagship of Calabria, very popular in analog ie radios and FM radio in Calabria and southern half of Italy, followed but also thanks to streaming web Calabrian diaspora in the world, even from a small Italian restaurant in Hong Kong.

Catona: is a village in the municipality of Reggio Calabria, a former independent municipality until 1927 .. very nice and especially its picturesque waterfront, you should come to visit him.

Campora San Giovanni: is my native hamlet, very beautiful and picturesque that it was a land of immigrants and emigrants, just slightly better style and expanded here and there, to give another improvement of style for the English-speaking origins camporeses.

I know that you are easier to translate from Spanish, so I ask you kindly to always ispriarti Spanish and French versions.

For the rest I hope soon to check out for help. and thank you for your welcome your cookies are delicious, next time you visit the port to the Calabrian roasted coffee (U Caffé Mauro from Reggio Calabria).

Hugs to you and your husband. Your Luigi/Lodewijk --Lodewijk Vadacchino (talk) 20:25, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Afroyim v. Rusk hopefully FAC soon

Hi. Afroyim v. Rusk (a 1967 Supreme Court case on citizenship law) is, I believe, very close to being ready for FAC. As a significant contributor to my last FAC a year ago (United States v. File on Borges Deleted

Dear Calliopejen1, Although I have been contributing here and there with what I can, many of the infrequent twists and turns of the editing process remain a total mystery to me. I understand that you recently deleted a file uploaded by me at some point and although I'm sure that there were reasonable doubts I would like to understand why is it that I just noticed the warning for deletion this morning. It seems to me that I'm doing something wrong because I had no opportunity whatsoever to amend what needed to be amended or update the information required in aims to prevent the final outcome. Do you have any suggestions for future similar incidents? Best, Sabonarola — Preceding unsigned comment added by Contrakultura (talkcontribs) 16:44, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Regarding Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2012_December_18#Template:Infobox_County .... the proposal is only about deleting the upper case versions. Loss of coordinates

Hi. I've just noticed that at least one of your additions of maps to infoboxes on buildings in Portland, Oregon, caused the coordinates to be removed from the title bar (and to no longer display anywhere in the article): in Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. It appears that your removal of the coordinates from the embedded NRHP infobox (which infobox is set to automatically displays coords in the title bar) caused them to no longer display. I reinstated them now in that article, which appears to have worked, but there are now two different sets of coordinates in the infobox, so I imagine this could cause problems at some point (or maybe not? It doesn't seem to be a problem in Union Station (Portland, Oregon)) – but I don't know enough about coordinates to know. If my fix needs cleaning up, please feel free. I ask you that please try to figure out how to avoid this problem in the future, as you presumably will be continuing to add maps to more articles. Thanks. SJ Morg (talk) 18:53, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Wow, that was a fast reply (on my talk page). I was just about to add this addendum here, not the same exact problem but related: I also noticed that some of your coordinate reformatting, as in the article White Stag sign, has caused the coordinates to be removed from the title bar. It hasn't caused them to be removed entirely from the article (which was a much more significant problem), but a lot of people are accustomed to finding them in the title bar, and it is convenient to have them there. Is there a way to retain the coordinates in the title bar when making those coordinate format changes (which you said were necessary to make the pushpin map work)? From your earlier message, it sounds like the answer may be no. You can reply here if you like. SJ Morg (talk) 19:09, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
With the theaters, I'd rather get the template fixed first--hopefully that will solve the problem all at once. Again, the White Stag one is a weird default behavior of the infobox template. Most infoboxes default to displaying both title and inline, but Infobox building defaults to inline only. Those are easily fixed, I just have to add "| coordinates_display = yes" to the infobox. Maybe I should raise this as something to change - it seems weird not to have it go in the upper right by default. Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:20, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. It's good to know there's an easy fix to this issue for this infobox, in case you opt not to raise the issue on the template's talk page. SJ Morg (talk) 09:08, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

infobox museum

I am pretty sure you want to change

{{#if:{{{coordinates_display|}}}|title|μ}}={{{coordinates_display|}}}

to

{{#ifeq:{{{coordinates_display|}}}|inline|μ|title}}={{{coordinates_display|}}}

which should work to suppress the coordinates in the title when |coordinates_display=inline, and will still keep the old behavior that when coordinates_display is blank, that the coordinates won't display in the title. Frietjes (talk) 21:28, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Your template-generated articles on human trafficking

I note that you created articles by using a template, during 2008-2011, of the form

{{{intro}}}{{{ref}}}
==Prosecution==
{{{prosecution}}}<ref name=dos/>
==Protection==
{{{protection}}}<ref name=dos/>
==Prevention==
{{{prevention}}}<ref name=dos/>
==See also==
*[[Human rights in {{{country}}}]]

e.g. South Africa, Colombia

What you did was create numerous articles with the exact same wording, with only the figures from the DoS "Trafficking in Persons Report 2010" inserted. What on earth would be the purpose of that? Why not just create a single article, human trafficking, or a tabular Trafficking in Persons Report 2010, which would then not be nightmare to maintain?

This isn't all. You yourself tagged your template-created articles as being useless, due to problems with neutrality, failure to meet quality standards, and relying upon a single source. Again, what is the purpose of creating one article, let alone lots of articles, of which you publicly avow that they are worthless?

Now, some of these articles have been fixed by editors cleaning up after you (Human trafficking in Greece), others may have received some minor edits Colombia) but sit there just as broken as the day your template spewed them out.

So here is my question: are you going to fix this anytime soon? These are your articles, you thought it necessary that they existed as separate pages, you tagged them for cleanup, but you do not seem to active in completing the work you started.

Because, if you are saying that you are not going to fix them, I would propose those articles which have not already been fixed by other editors and still have their template wording should be collapsed into a single article with a list of countries it is applicable to. People will then have a single article to fix instead of the current situation where there is an unknown number of broken articles sitting around the "human trafficking" category.

Thanks, --dab (𒁳) 12:48, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

These articles do not have the exact same wording, though they are each structured in the same way. (I used a template so that I could keep the structure uniform.) Each is from a totally customized report on human trafficking in that country. I do not believe that the articles are useless, or else I would not have created them, though obviously they can be improved. An uninformed reader is definitely better off reading the article, imperfect as it is, then not having any article at all. (And, as you note, some of these articles have been improved by others.) I plan to work on them at some point in the future (you can see they are on my to-do list on my user page), but Wikipedia accepts works in progress as articles because it is a collaborative project (one user can start an article, other users can improve it). They cannot feasibly be combined into a table because it's not just a matter of a few figures varying--the text of each article is basically totally different. As a final note, it is not necessary or productive to use such an unpleasant, hostile tone. Calliopejen1 (talk) 23:12, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Western Australian Climates

You disputed that I created the map of Western Australian climates from Scratch using Powerpoint. This is possible - as powerpoint allows maps to be created - I have used it for many maps I have uploaded into the web. The maps are created using the polygon tool in powerpoint with the various colours created as overlays. As a powerpoint it is then saved as a jpeg file which I have then uploaded.

I hope this explains the method I have used. I would appreciate it if this satisfies you that you withdraw the map from deletion. John D. Croft (talk) 06:43, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Complain about many deletions by a Wikipedian

Hi Calliopejen1, I would like to make a complain about many deletions by Qworty. As you can see from his/her "contribution" here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Qworty, most are about deletions. I think this practice is bad. Because:

  1. Citation needed should be mentioned first.
  2. The most important strengths of Wikipedia is Wikipedians' contributions. If much information is deleted constantly, their morale would be damaged besides the damaged articles.
  3. After his/her deletion, many articles would become almost nothing like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Death_Cure&diff=552106630&oldid=552094863 The earlier version is a much better one.
