ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, CPA-5. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2016 Burkinabé coup d'état attempt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.reuters.com/article/us-burkina-plot-idUSKCN12L248. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:08, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to MILHIST

[edit]
[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello CPA-5, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mz7 (talk) 16:28, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

[edit]

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Re-addition of post Cold War tags on Talk:Kashmir conflict

[edit]

Hi CPA-5, Please be careful when you make project banners on talk pages. You marked Kashmir conflict as a post Cold war conflict which it is clearly not and were reverted. Two days later you mark it again without any explanation or discussion. I am not sure if this was a mistake but I would recommend you to be careful next time. This is now getting into disruptive behavior territory (even though it might not be intentional it is still disrupting the page). Happy editing. G'day Adamgerber80 thanks to warn me and i am sorry for that. I thought first that every military activity or stuff who is ongoing should put in the project even it wasn't post-cold war but i was wrong second thing i didn't know i did put it for the second time i thought it was the first time anyway i just did what i thought was right again thanks for warning me and sorry. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

[edit]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
  • updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.

Arumer Zwarte Hoop

[edit]

Hi CPA-5. You probably don't remember this exchange:

  • Arumer Zwarte Hoop Structure. A Frisian rebel band. Expanded lead, sectioned, added several references, copy edited. In the market for a second opinion? Gog the Mild (talk) 21:00, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • G'day the structure is now ok sadly the references not ref 1 is not linked as a source (come out on the main page maybe error and they deleted it also don't think that West-Frisian is the language of the source see a lot of Dutch words), ref 3 has no link to the source same with ref 5 and ref 7 but if they're fixed then it is a little B-class. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 17:22, 8 March 2018 (UTC)}}[reply]
  • Apologies for taking so long to get back to you. The references were way trickier than I expected. One from 1791, one from 1853, several where a previous editor had "helpfully" put "access date" for when they had read the, hardcopy, source. Any hoo, I think that I have cracked it and would be grateful if you could have another look. Gog the Mild (talk) 17:02, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Gog the Mild: G'day Gog, yes i did remember that and i did just updated and finished the page with putting some beter sources, (well i think they are) and indeed the references were tricky. Anyway i did have another review and in my view it meets now a B-class. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 19:07, 22 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2018 Nicaraguan protests

[edit]

You took this off the list of ongoing armed conflicts but I believe that this is an armed conflict. It has at least two armed groups, and it has over 448 deaths in a last year which satisfies both of the number of death rules. These are the requirements to be an armed conflict so I think that it is an armed conflict. Should I add it on or am I missing something and it is not an armed conflict after all. Cool314 (talk) 17:18, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • If there is at least one rebel group or paramilitary group is involved in the event and is fighting against the govermnent, then it can be called as an "armed conflict" which is not the case. It looks more likely a mega demonstrations than an uprising, political opposition organisations are not an armed group execpt they're armed of cource which is not the case. So my answer is which armed groups are you talking about it is still possible that an armed group is fighting against the govermnent which I did not know exist. But for now on it looks more like the Crisis in Venezuela which is an "civil conflict" so not armed but is has its own armed incidents. CPA-5 (talk) 20:46, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CPA-5. I have just nominated this for an ACR - Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Gascon campaign of 1345. It is the campaign which included Battle of Auberoche, the ACR of which you were kind enough to comment on. And so I thought that I may be able to sweet talk you into looking at this one too. Thanks in advance. (He wrote, pushing his luck.) Gog the Mild (talk) 18:39, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CPA-5. Thank you for the loan of your eagle eyes. All of your comments have been responded to. I am annoyed with myself that several of the issues you found are things you also pointed out in at least one of the two previous reviews of ACRs of mine that you have done. It is a good job that you are there checking up on me. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:37, 17 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, CPA-5. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fall of Baiji

[edit]

Hi CPA-5. I didn't realise that this was one of yours. Nice work by the way. I dropped by because it was on the GOCE list due to the copy edit tag. I tend to pick up the military articles at GOCE. As usual, revert or change anything you don't like. One thing which puzzled me, but I haven't changed, is the outcome. I'm not sure how it can be an "ISIL victory" when they lost control of the refinery after one day and the city after four months. Sounds like an Iraqi victory to me. I leave that one with you. Gog the Mild (talk) 17:51, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Gog the Mild: Hi there Gog yes indeed I made this article I think a year ago. At the time it was my main goal to make one article. Now I realised it still exist! If I look to the old article it looks so awfull even now at the no citations paragraphs. It also has lenght of a B-class so maybe I will work further on and make it a B-class. But for now I'm stuck with busy life, reviewing A- and FAC nominations and I am also busy with a sandbox draft about a Communist insurgency in Bhutan. Also It is an ISIL victory because it still occupied the city, while the Iraqi Army couldn't recapture the city until mid-November. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 18:21, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's the joy of Wikipedia. If you create something, other people will check it over for faults, as you check over my ACRs and FACs. Nice to return something to one of you articles. Gog the Mild (talk) 18:29, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Gog the Mild: Thanks Gog in the future I'll try to make it a B-class with or without help. Also that's my goal to try to make Wikipedia a greatful, joyful and interesting place on the internet. But for now I've a couple of reviews going on. I maybe would start with your Lancaster's chevauchée of 1346 and Battle of Bergerac nominations after I just finished all the ships nominations from Sturm and PB. With an exception of the Ersatz Yorck-class battlecruiser nomination Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 19:13, 22 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CPA-5. Can I ask you to comment on the A-class review for Marcus Aurelius? Векочел (talk) 01:55, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So I will definitely help you to get it to A-class. Of course I'm not an expert in Roman history or in old grammer usages. But I can see some little issues so I can help you. [edit]

Just wanted to remind you that I've responded to your comment on this FAC and hope that my changes are satisfactory.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 01:28, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Sturmvogel 66: Hey Sturm ah I'm tottaly supprised of this. When you replied last Sunday there was a heavy sturm here which heavily damaged our roof and our car our solar panals even damaged our neighbours' roofs. We had no electricity, gas nor water and fire fighters told us it was too dangours to live there 'cause of risk of CO2 poisoning, explosion danger and our roof isn't stabilise so a next sturm with between 100 km/h–120 km/h (62 mph–74 mph) winds could detroy our roof. Good Lord it didn't, I really hadn't time to reply or even to be online I was a busy with my family. Last week was a terrible and fustraiting week, right now we have electricity and water only gas have to wait because our boiler is heavily damaged. Anyway I am happy to have an another look in the article. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 07:57, 17 March 2019 (UTC)== Congratulations from the Military History Project ==[reply]

Question

[edit]

In approximately six weeks, we will open nominations for the Military history WikiProject coordinator elections. Have you given any consideration to running? You'd make a good coordinator, I think, and Lord knows we could use some new blood in the team. Think it over, and if you have any questions you can ask me or check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Academy/Becoming a coordinator. Sincerely, TomStar81 (Talk) 03:58, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey Tom, a well good question you ask. First, let me introduce myself a little bit. I just came back from my holiday. I never nominated an article and I never used a wikitool. I'm a member on Wikipedia for almost 3 years. I'm a member of our project in March 2018. And I started to review here and there until end 2018 when I decided to help Gog first with reviewing his nominations and in 2019 I started to help Sturm and BB in their ships' nominations. They now are focusing on the OMT project. Even I didn't really want to push them that far. In the last Bugle I finished 3th in reviewing nominations I nominated 64 articles. I'd love to become a co-ordinator, but, I do not think I would have a chance because. Most supporters trust someone who nominates dozens of articles to A-class or even FA-class. Right? I also do not think I'm ready to become a co-ordinator because what should a co-ordinator? Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 21:30, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the extraordinarily long wait in between you message and this reply, I work nights on a five day rotating schedule and its a little challenging for me to adequately divide my time between work and wikipedia, so if one must be sacrificed its wikipedia since wikipedia doesn't pay me :) Anyway...I reached out to you because you are a skilled reviewer, and at its heart those of us who are coordinators are entrusted with closing those reviews and finding consensus for promotion, demotion, or the status quo. I understand if you think you are not ready, remember its your choice and I cant not force you to run, I am merely reaching out to you as one who is already working in the general review field we need our coordinators to be interested in. If you change you mind, feel free to throw your name into the ring. You may well be surprised what comes of it. TomStar81 (Talk) 18:40, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well Tom, I do not describe myself ready nor not ready. I'd like to nominate myself because I'd give it a try. If I loss (can always happen) then maybe next year another try, and sure maybe one day Wikipedia would pay you. :p

Would you mind...

[edit]

Would you mind a post Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Project Excalibur/archive1 in the excalibur FAC ( I can't get the link to work)? Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:10, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi CPA-5 and thanks for reviewing HMS Roebuck (1774). I was suprised to hear that I am the first Wikipedian you've spoken to who's been to Belgium. Given the number of battles that have been fought there, I imagine it's a popular destination for members of the Military history project.--Ykraps (talk) 08:32, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, I mean you're the first English native speaker who travels to Belgium. Most people, even don't know where Belgium even lies, some Britons I met didn't even know I am from their kind of neighbour country. It's also strange that the Americans who I know though I was British and the British I know thought I was American well I mean I understand Americans because I try to use British words and if I realised that that word is American then I switch over to the British one. It's still weird that British thought I was American or so. Most English native speakers don't even know where Belgium lies or what Belgium is. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 10:21, 30 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes Ykraps I had a great time in the Ardennes. I even had a great summer, yesterday I passed my practice driving exam at my first time (same with my theory a year and a half ago). I'm now really proud of passing at my first time. Also my mum wants to travel with me and my family to the UK again before the Brexit is a real thing. If we'd go to the UK again then it'd be a race against the time. My mum wants to go from 26 October until hopefully the 30th or otherwise we'd be stuck in the UK. Last time we were in the Uk was only a city-trip to London itself now we want to travel outside London maybe even going to Wales or so I don't know. She likes the cliffs on the French/Britsh coasts so probably to the British coast. And no we're not probably going by car she's afraid that we crash our car over there because you know we're not left-side road people. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 14:47, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think Brexit will be a problem if you're just coming over as a tourist. There will no longer be a blue channel of course and anything you buy here and take back won't be EU duty paid but other than that there's no reason to rush. If you do come, some of my favourite parts are: Pembrokeshire, Peak District and Lake District, Cornwall and Devon, and Dorset of course! Congrats on passing your test. Seems like the perfect time for a European road trip and don't worry about driving on the other side; it's a lot easier to adjust, than you think. BTW, are you happy with my changes at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/HMS Roebuck (1774)/archive1?--Ykraps (talk) 19:00, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Order of the Superior Scribe of Wikipedia

Thanks for your participation in the September 2019 GA Backlog drive. Your 32 (!) reviews made a difference. The work of editors like you helped bring down the unreviewed backlog by over 35%. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:27, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much Barkeep. No worries in the future I will continue reviewing GANs, especially in my project (MILHIST) has a lot of empty GANs but if I have something interest in something outside military I will have a review. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 13:48, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Asking a cheeky favour

[edit]

Hi CPA-5

Thanks a lot for your exceptionally swift review of Razing of Friesoythe; I don't know how you do it. At the risk of being cheeky, if you are looking around for another article to review, Battle of Lagos is at ACR and only needs a fifth review to pass. Plus I am intending to move it along to FAC, so having your eagle eyes look over it would be handy. Obviously, if you lack the time or the motivation, then no worries.

Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 02:00, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hmm sure why not. I indeed found some nitpicks. But I'd like to do it tomorrow or in the weekend 'cause I have some work to do with other ARCs or even with my long-forgotten GARs. If someone else reviewed it in the meantime and it is ready to promote then you don't have to wait for me I'll do the FAC then. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 15:26, 14 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. That would be good of you. But please don't feel obligated. I feel bad about asking you, because I almost never get to repay the favour. Gog the Mild (talk) 23:21, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Bakassi conflict

[edit]

The article Bakassi conflict you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Bakassi conflict for issues which need to be addressed. Open GA reviews

[edit]

Hi CPA-5. I have noticed you have a few old reviews that are still ongoing. Just want to check to see if you are alright to complete them. I may be able to help out some if you need advice or a second opinion. Cheers AIRcorn (talk) 07:26, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good morning mate, ah yes the GANs I'm still waiting for some of the reviewers and I might close it if the reviewers don't reply and address the reviews. Otherside I hadn't really the time or the motivation to address those who're still waiting or I forgot them. Thanks for the reminder I'll have a look in those GANs. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 10:51, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • No problem. I think I pinged you to all that are over a month without a comment from you or the nominator. Sometimes it is best to fail them if you are not getting responses to your issues. AIRcorn (talk) 17:57, 1 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week

[edit]
Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your "Eagle Eye" editing. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Gog the Mild submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

CPA-5 is one of Wikipedia's unsung heroes. They work vigorously behind the scenes. They decorously proffer sage advice on the mixing of different variants of English, under and over linking, missing or extraneous convert templates and much more. Their copy editing skills have led to them being nicknamed "Eagle Eyes". They have recently taken on even more work by becoming a coordinator at MilHist. They are awesomely busy in their assessing and reviewing of articles nominated for promotion: So far this year they have reviewed over 200 GANs, ACRs and FAcs - and are still going strong, even accelerating. (They reviewed 32 GANs alone in September alone.) They have never created an article nor nominated one for promotion; they do all of this work in no anticipation of any quid pro quo, purely out of commitment to the project. The sort of input which deserves recognition via an EotW award.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

Battle of Goychay GA...

[edit]

Hello CPA-5,

I noticed you were the reviewer of the Battle of Goychay article. I believe your review was in good faith. The copy-edits were mainly grammatical and WP:MOS in nature which is what almost all GA reviews are focused on. However, there are some really contentious information that seems extremely problematic when it comes to the article. Unsourced controversial claims, such as the one I removed here, seems to be riddled throughout the article. Another claim, that of "they massacred many of the Azerbaijanis living in those villages" is sourced to an offline WP:PRIMARY source straight from the Turkish government and is hardly a neutral WP:SECONDARY source. This, among many other issues, is why I may request delisting this as a GA. Either that, or we can work together to make the article better or you yourself can help delisting it and putting it up for review as a GA once more. Étienne Dolet (talk) 22:54, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @EtienneDolet: Thanks, this is the first time I see these. However I personally don't like the concept of delisting something whether it is GA, A- or FA-class. Why not because I don't believe for these issues you immediately should nominate it for a delist. Of course I understand the situation and I do believe it should be changed. But to me, a delist nomination should be the last choice if the article cannot be a GA anymore. For an example if someone add unsourced materials in an FA should it be delisted immediately? I don't think it should, the only solutions are removing or adding the source in it. I still believe this article can be a GA and we should ping the former nom, delete the claims (if necessary) and add new secondary sources. If it's not possible then we can delist it. Thanks again, I'll keep these in mind. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 20:27, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for work

[edit]

Hi CPA-5. Thanks for the extensive review of Battle of Sluys, and for the extensive tidying up you have been doing on a number of my previous FAC noms. And for the review that, knowing you, you have already started on Battle of the Aegates as I have recently addressed JennyOz's comments. However, if you have an idle moment or two , perhaps you would care to look over my current project - the First Punic War? I am hoping to have this in GAN within a few days, and then run it all the way.

If you would care to help me out with this - and if time or motivation doesn't permit, I entirely understand - then feel free to simply make any edits you feel appropriate. If I don't agree with them I will revert, and if you don't agree with or don't understand my revert we can discuss it on the talk page.

I am partially putting this request in because you commented "I'm a fan of Romans and their timeline". If you have sources on the First Punic War, do let me know, and/or just add sourced information in true Wikipedian style.

Take care.

Gog the Mild (talk) 12:53, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Gog the Mild: You're welcome mate, speaking about the Battle of the Aegates I've found a magazine (from two years ago) in my little library which includes the battle and the Roman ships. Be prepared because I already found out there are some things not included in the nomination.
What is the magazine?
  • Oh right, it's a popular history magazine in Belgium and the Netherlands (it's originally Dutch) even though they sell it in other European countries too. It's called Historia, I'm not sure you are familiar with it, I think I have like twenty volumes (or even more) in the last six years. The only problem here is, I'm not sure how you can put them here in the references because their ISSNs are unknown for Google for unknown reasons. And don't worry they're highly reliable they put the sources of the topics too.

I also have a source about the Second Punic War if you need some information you always can call me. ;)

At the moment I am busy with the First War. Next is the Third. Then, possibly, the Mercenaries War. I don't see me getting round to the Second before I lose interest.

Fun fact here, I'm busy with my own project - the 2009 Kokang incident and if this is ready, I'd like to get a GOCE review by someone who has an eye on it.

That looks interesting. I would be happy to copy edit it. Stick on GoCE Requests now and I'll reserve it and try to do it, or at least start it, over the weekend.
  • Well you see I'm still busy on it, maybe next weekend 'cause this weekend would be a little bit busy for me and there is still some work in the sources to do. Yeah I'm trying to find as much information as posible with unknown conflicts in the 21ste century.

At the time I was thinking to ask it to you or so, but now I see you're a little bit busy with your own project, I wouldn't to let it wait a little bit.

I'm back on a bit of a content creation kick, but still doi a bit of copy editing, so that's fine.

I'm planning to make it a GA and even later an A-class in the near future. After this I'd try to make its 2015 counterpart to GAN too.

Good for you.

And don't forget the March Madness which would start on Sunday. Looks like we have a busy period on Wikipedia alone. ;)

I know. I can't see me having much time to participate in the MM, although you never know. But I am getting several articles ready for runs through ACR and FAC.
  • Well I'd love to review them give me a call and I will participate in the reviews. :-)

Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 15:38, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Take care. Gog the Mild (talk) 15:47, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey mate, I hope you're well, I'm pretty okay and let's hope no one would be infected. Anyway, it's almost Easter and we now have our annual holiday break, which means I now have some time for Wikipedia again especially now couldn't go to Luxembourg for a week which really annoys me. :/ Unless my dirty teachers still sent me some home works which is annoying (I hope they don't). Anyway back to the topic, now the March Madness had ended. You gave me 509 points which sound fair but it's exactly 499. Yeah I know it also surprises me but I calculated three times in a row and I always come out with 499. This is annoying because I made that freaking same mistake in the Banzai drive in September which was 2,499. That one freaking point. Anyway thanks for the chevron mate. Cheers and be safe. CPA-5 (talk) 21:46, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I counted several times and was quite sure that it was over 500. Ah well, too late to undo it now. It is really good to hear from you. Yes, I am frustratingly stuck in the house and have been looking at pictures of what I was doing on this date six and nine years ago - which was walking in Scotland. Ah well, at least lots of Wikipedia work is getting done. You stay safe too mate, I reckon that things will get worse before they get better. Gog the Mild (talk) 21:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Here it's not that bad. It's not that bad even though we're over 16,000 infected. I'm happy I still can have a walk with my dog not like in other countries where it is far worse. At least I can still annoy the weather here, which is nice and even warm. Normally I and my family would go to my grandpa's grave today because he died last year before his birthday. Sadly I cannot visit it, man time goes fast I am almost four years here even though it doesn't feel that. Let's hope this major event goes as fast as possible away. Cheers. I see that you added a reference to "The Daily Herald 2009, p. 27.", here, but that source is not given in the bibliography and I'm unable to find it via quick google search. I assume you know what you intended to refer to? Would it be possible to fix this and then strike out the page name at WT:MILHIST? • Hello RandomCanadian, I've responed on this with a couple of edits. First of all thanks for mentioning this; months ago I've indeed expanded the article. When I added the citation I had lost my ambition to continue this but I had forgot to add the source into the article and I never realised that before you commented on my talk page. The funny part is when I woke up this morning I thought this comment was a dream; I guess it was not. Last year you were kind enough to review HMS Roebuck (1774) and I wondered if you would very much mind having a look at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/HMS Pearl (1762)/archive1 before it vanishes into the archives. I would be very grateful and, of course, happy to return the favour at anytime.

Best regards --Ykraps (talk) 18:38, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This weekend would be more than agreeable, thank you. My trip to Bruges was everything I hoped it would be, thanks. We had a bit of a road trip through the Low Countries, hoping to get as far as Brussels but we stayed rather longer than expected in Bruges, which was consequently our last stop. We didn't get away at all this year, because of the pandemic, so my feet are somewhat itchy.--Ykraps (talk) 16:20, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good evening Ykraps, I've claimed my seat over there since I'm afraid it could be archived before I have the chance to review it. Also it looks like it hasn't a source review and I don't think you aware of this. If you need a source/image or both reviews then you can add a request there. I already did it for you so no need to worries. If no one replies to this then you always can ask buidhe since she's a great image/source reviewer. I sadly cannot help you with a source review since I don't have that much knowledge of source reviews and maybe I really need to work onto that! Ah Brussels the city who does force you to learn French! Personally, I don't think I've been to Bruges maybe when I was a child I don't know. Have you been to Antwerp and Ghent? Those are beautiful cities, and I know how it feels. I haven't seen my family outside Belgium thanks to the pandemic this summer just because everyone who was from my province (which was a red region) got denied to countries like the Netherlands and Germany! Normally, I also would go to Rome but I guess that's not gonna happen. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 22:48, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I went to Antwerp over 30 years ago but no, I've never been to Ghent. You should check out Brugge; one of the best preserved mediaeval cities, I believe. (sigh) So much to see; such little time. Anyway, I look forward to hearing your comments. Best --Ykraps (talk) 10:17, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi CPA-5, just wondering if I've done enough to garner your support, or whether you think the article still needs more work. Either way's fine. Thanks --Ykraps (talk) 19:00, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Biblical criticism

[edit]

Hi! Sorry to bother you at home but apparently the use of the tqq with curly brackets is causing the software to freak out. Apparently anything with curly brackets is a template, which I didn't know before this. Whatever the program is at FAC has a template limit, and since this review is so long it's causing problems. Perhaps you can just copy paste, or reference the location instead, idk. I am grateful you are there, glad for the review and don't want to cause anyone any trouble, but I have been asked by the moderator to pass on that limiting template use is necessary. Thank you for all you've done. Hope this isn't a problem for you. Jenhawk777 (talk) 18:56, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Good evening, Jenhawk777 Ah yes, SandyGeorgia has pinged me to his talk page, so I'm aware of this. Well I do not use tqq with curly brackets; I don't like it, I use xt with curly brackets. Yes, indeed everything which uses curly brackets is a template. But since Ovinus has left and deleted over 77,000 bytes is it still a problem to use xt? Sandy do you know what's the maximum a FAC page can have? Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 17:23, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • CPA, it's the SUM of all templates (on the entire FAC page) that cause us to exceed the limit, so since we're close now, it could be helpful to avoid as many templates as you can at the BC FAC. There is not one specific number, because some templates count twice, so it's all a bit technical. Ovinus's removal did put the overall page back under the limit, but I think we're still running close, and we have to consider what happens when the FAC is closed and it moves to archives, which is where we first saw the template limit problem a decade ago. Bst, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:08, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

24 hour clock

[edit]

Hi

Rarely edit wikipedia (hence the ip) just to say I've edited all the times for the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Lion_(1910) page to the 24 hour clock. You'd changed them all from say 3:20 to 03:20, should've read 15:20, as an example. None of the times made sense or matched say, the dogger bank or jutland articles.

Literally zero idea what the etiquette is on this site par editing but thought id let you know.

Howdy, pardner. It seems only natural, from your prior work on Belgian military history, and my own prior work at Fortified position of Liège, that we should work together on the 20th century military architecture of the Kingdom of Belgium.
