Welcome to the second Bugle for 2024!
There is a Wikipedia-wide drive on in February to reduce the very large number of articles entirely without references. Details of the drive can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/February 2024. All members of the project are encouraged to participate. Military history articles entirely lacking references can be found by keying articletopic:military-and-warfare incategory:"All articles lacking sources"
into the search bar at the top of the page.
The article news section covers a diverse range of articles and pictures that were promoted to featured or A-class status in January: two featured articles, a featured list, seven featured pictures and two A-class articles. Congratulations to the nominators.
We also have a bumper edition of the regular book review section. Hawkeye7 has reviewed three books, including two on military logistics in the world wars, and Pickersgill-Cunliffe has reviewed an interesting looking book on British warship losses. Thank you to you both.

MilHist's traditional article writing contest has kicked off for 2024, with eight editors submitting a total of 28 articles in the opening round of the year. We note that eight articles were started or brought to B class; the other thirteen were started or brought to GA class or higher. Simongraham won the January contest with 33 points (from three GA articles). He claims the Wikichevrons as his prize. Hog Farm takes the Writer's Barnstar with 26 points (from three articles, two brought to GA and one to FA). Honourable mentions go to AirshipJungleman29 (one article brought to GA), Catlemur (three articles, one brought to GA), Djmaschek (two articles), Pickersgill-Cunliffe (three articles, one brought to A, one brought to GA), Sturmvogel 66 (two articles, both brought to GA), and Zawed (three articles, one brought to GA). Monthly totals are applied to the overall 2023 writer's cup, which will be decided at the end of December.
If you are up for a bit of friendly competition, consider submitting the articles you are currently working on for the February round of the contest.
