Bouloussou Soubramaniam Sastroulou

[edit]

Bonjour Bsskchaitanya,

Nawab

[edit]

I see you've been creating entries about the Nawab family. Unfortunately these miss the most important information. A lead section that gives the basic information. The beginning of Nawab Sayyid Ghulam Muhammad Ali Khan I Bahadur doesn't state he's Indian royalty, I only see that in the stub tag. Please say something to the effect of "Nawab Sayyid Ghulam Muhammad Ali Khan I Bahadur was Xth sultan of Y." so people know what the article is about. - Mgm|(talk) 10:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sanskrit

[edit]

No problems sir. I was referring to vandals. Whether we like it or not vandals and trolls exist on Wikipedia. The fellow who complained at Talk:Sanskrit#It_is_not_the_nationwide_language_dears says the Sanskrit article on Wikipedia is a hyped article - that we are giving it as much hype to it as possible. He also says "Please provide some useful or if u dare give REAL facts about sanskrit."

He is most likely a troll who is not going to bother reading your essay on sanskrit posted at Talk:Sanskrit. Why bother wasting your time by replying to his rants? The Talk:Sanskrit page is not to reply to trolls, its about discussing things which pertain to the article only. Bernard Shaw said "I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it." So ignore this kind of persons. Kris (☎ talk | contribs) 13:39, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Retroflex approximant

[edit]

Hi, recently you have added Telugu to the list of languages in the article Retroflex approximant. This is incorrect. Please listen to the sound file in that page - as far I know, this sound can be heard only in Tamil and Malayalam among major Indian langauages. I still remember how much I had to struggle to teach my Telugu friends how to pronounce Malayalam "ഴ" - ழ in Tamil - :) . Hope you would revert the change. Somebody had added Marathi and Vedic Sanscrit to the list and I removed them sometime back (please see the discussion page of the article). Maybe people tend to confuse this with Retroflex lateral approximant, which is a totally different sound. - sooraj 21:52, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I appreciate your knowledge of Dravidian languages. Being able to speak both Tamil and Telugu at a native level is definitely something that I would envy about; and I did notice it in your profile before I put the comment. But I have to say that you have misunderstood what a Retroflex approximant is. You yourself has admitted that "Zha" (ழ)is not present in modern Telugu. It is exactly this "zha" that is called Retroflex approximant. Please listen to the sound sample in that article, convince yourself and revert your edit. - sooraj 20:57, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I am no linguistics expert, but this is what I know about "chillaksharams" in Malayalam script: Certain consonants of the Malayalam alphabet (ണ, ന, റ, ല, ള) are extensively used without having a vowel attached to them (especially at the end of words and prefixes) and these "pure consonants" are denoted by a different set of letters called "chillaksharangal" (ണ്‍, ന്‍, ര്‍, ല്‍, ള്‍). When a consonant does not have a corresponding chillaksharam, its pure form is denoted by adding a special sign called "chandrakkala" above it. Even those letters that have a "chillaksharam" form may sometimes be used with a "chandrakkala" to show the pure consonant. Hope this helps you. sooraj 20:13, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Manyam Zamindar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. If you plan to add more material to the article, I advise you to do so immediately. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Hi. I have seen you various articles on yanam. Nice to see you have contributed well. I have written the article Dadala Raphael Ramanayya and uploaded some very rare pictures not available anywhere. Thanks for checking the tags for me. Yes I have removed certain matter which will not have answers but instead create and sustain unfounded rumours. It is not right to write things on public domain on hearsay., esp of people who had mattered to our country. But neverthless, I should appreciate you for airing your views. May be i could allow you to read Dadala's autobiography which was then written for select audience and private circulation. It was published in private capacity sometime during 70's and went out of circulation later on. Seasons greetings to you my Friend. - Pdadala

Dravidian Wiki Project

[edit]

Hello Bsskchaitanya,

I saw your edit on Dravidian topics template. It was a pleasant surprise to see someone taking part in editing the Dravidian topics template in regards to Dravidian culture since I have thought of forming a Dravidian Wiki Project. This will help expand on the topics of different Dravidian ethnic groups such as the Kannadigas, Telugus, Tamils, Malayalis, and more Dravidian groups. This project will also go beyond borders to include the Brahui Dravdians of Pakistan, and the Malto people of Bangladesh. It will also expand on the dances, arts, and literature of each Dravidian group in South Asia. Furthermore, the Dravidian people page needs a lot of work to be done due to vandals and others changing the info on the page and filling it with major POVs. So much so, the page on Dravidian people has been turned into a propoganda tool to discredit Dravidians for their existence. Earlier, I have put a map showing the different regions Dravidians are in along with some pics of different Dravidians, Vedda Dravidians, and Australian aboriginals to show similarities. On the Talk:Dravidian people there is a small discussion in regards to the existence of Dravidians. Therefore, I have put a neutralitiy/factual accuracy tag and a cleanup tag on the page. Administration has been notified of this. Having you on this team would be a plus and starting a Dravidian Wiki Project would be of benefit to wikipedia and its readers for further knowledge of other cultures. Please let me know if you would be interested. Regards.

Unspecified source for Image:Wallajah2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Wallajah2.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kris (talk) 06:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, a user who goes around tagging images in bad faith has tagged Wallajah2.jpg which you uploaded. Can you please follow this up? thanks Parthi talk/contribs 05:56, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, It's not sufficient to provide references as you have done for Image:Wallajah2.jpg. You need to specify where you sourced the image from. In this case, if the portrait is over sixy years old then you can use the {{PD-Old}} tag. If it is an artwork whose author is dead over 100 years ago, then you can use {{pd-art}}. Thanks Parthi talk/contribs 07:51, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The contents box size needs to be reduced.
  • References should better come from a mix of sources, now its only from one source.

I have great love and regards towards Yanam and its wonderful people. But also in a way, just like you said, I have understood through Monsieur Dadala who had many times during his later years passionately expressed great feelings about the France, its culture and its people. But like you said history is history and we have to learn adapting to the changes in the process of evolution. You are most welcome to peruse the autobiographical copy I have on Monsieur Dadala. Editors that don't provide an edit summary tend to look like vandals

[edit]

I have noticed you commonly don't enter an edit summary as you didn't when you edited Manyam Zamindar (see this edit). This causes me problems. When I patrol for vandalism, I use the summary to make a preliminary decision on whether or not the post is a vandal edit or not. If the summary is present (or at least a section header, the part inside the /* */), I commonly decide the edit is legit and move on.

However, if no edit summary is available, I typically resort to loading the diff for the edit. This takes time. For that reason, if your edits are all valid, I ask that you provide edit summaries. For more on how to enter an edit summary, please read Help:Edit summary.

Incidentally, it is not just me that appreciate having edit summaries. When you omit your summary, you may be telling various bots that you are vandalizing pages. For this reason, please consider providing that summary. It is very important. You can enter that summary via the edit summary box on edit pages (as shown below).

The edit summary appears in black italics in the following places: * Use the enhanced watchlist to see all recent changes in the watched pages, not just the last change in each page.

For more tips on how to avoid being mistaken for a vandal, please visit Steps You Can Take to Avoid Being Thought of as a Vandal.

You appear to rely on the section links (the part inside the /* */ part). We need more information than simply which section you edited. Will (Talk - contribs) 05:58, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, it sounds like you might be able to communicate better in French than English. If this is true, I can attempt to find a French speaker to help you out.
Second, I never stated you were a vandal. I knew you weren't when I saw your diff. The problem is that the diff must be loaded (taking time that I would prefer to be chasing real vandals). If I thought you might have been a vandal, a bot, with more limited intelligence, might as well. Will (Talk - contribs) 08:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Telugu Script

[edit]

Dear Mr Chaitanya, I have seen the input you made in the article on 'Telugu Script' and I appreciate your effort. I would like to bring to your attention many articles being written in Wiki which mention that Telugu script evolved from Kannada scipt. Historians always mentioned the common script as 'Telugu-Kannada' script. The spread of original Brahmi from coastal Andhra (Bhattiprolu) to west India and further down to Kannada-speaking areas is a strong basis to argue that it was Telugu script that gave rise to modern Kannada script. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is there any historical evidence to show that the original home of Chalukyans was Rayalaseema region and that they spoke Telugu? Kumarrao 11:32, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Origin

[edit]

Dear Mr Chaitanya, The Brahmi Script chart put by you in the article is very misleading. It gives an impression that Telugu script originated from the Kannada script. In fact, many Kannada enthusiasts in wikipedia are now insisting upon this matter. It is well-known that Bhattiprolu Brahmi script evolved into Telugu-Kannada script which diversified later into two independent scripts. The National Museum displays which are included in the article would serve the purpose. The chart can be deleted.Kumarrao 08:28, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request

[edit]

Please do something about my request made above. The Tables T1 and T2 in the article Telugu script clearly mentioned the evolution of Bhattiprolu Brahmi script into 5th century Telugu-Kannada script of Salankayana period. Based on the chart placed by you, Users like Gnanapiti have been insisting that Telugu script has originated and evolved from 'Old Kannada script'. Kumarrao 06:16, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Request #2

[edit]

The Figures 1 and 2 in the articles Telugu script and Telugu language figures clearly mention the evolution of Brahmi script of Mauryan times towards modern Telugu and Kannada scripts. It is as given below:

1. Brahmi script of Mauryan period (3rd centrury BCE)

2. Brahmi script on Bhattiprolu Urn containing Buddha's dhatus (3rd century BCE)

3. Brahmi script of Satavahana period (1st centurey CE)

4. Brahmi script of Ikshvaku period (3d century CE)

5. Brahmi script of Gupta period (4th century CE)

6. Ancient Telugu-Kannada script of Salankayana period (5th century)

7. Tamil scripts of Pallava period (7th century)

8. Telugu-Kannada script of 7th century

9. Telugu-Kannada script of Eastern Chalukyas (10th century)

10. Telugu-Kannada script of Rajarajanarendra period (11th century)

11. Telugu-Kannada script of Kakatiya Ganapatideva (13th century)

12. Telugu script of Prolaya Vemareddy (14th century).

It is thus very clear that both the scripts had a common origin in Brahmi script as found on Bhattiprolu stupa urn. To call it s "Old Kannada" script is nothing but travesty of history, even though some authors might have referred it so. In fact, these figures were sourced from the same citation (Adluri, Seshu Madhava Rao Parachuri, Sreenivas. Origins of Telugu Script) which Gnanapiti refers to. But, Gnanapiti does not want to take cognizance of it. As a compromise, I agreed that it can be written as:

"The Telugu script is derived from Telugu-Kannada script which is also known as old Kannada script and developed independently at the same time as modern Kannada script which is why it has strong resemblance with it"

However, Gnanapiti insists that it should be "Old Kannada" rather than "Telugu-Kannada". It is plain chauvanism being imposed on articles regarding Telugu, Telugu language and Telugu script. Wiki should not encourage such fanaicas and chauvanists. Kumarrao 09:33, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Final request

[edit]

Dear Mr Chaitanya, I wonder why you have ingnored my previous requests. I have been waging a lone battle against a bunch of irrational fanatics regardimg my edits to Telugu script and Telugu language. If you think my point of view was wrong, say so. I shall stop this thing. [edit]

I am thoroughly convinced that Wikipedia is a highly susceptible tool for spreading falsehoods by a group(s) of people who can collude among themselves and then twist, distort and protect their articles from well-meaning Users. At the same time, they can prevent others from editing their contributions in a clever and premediated fashion. I do not regret that I lost to a bunch of fanatics and chauvanists. I only hope that Wikipedia owners, administrators and others take notice of my frustration and amend the guidelines to make Wiki more credible and authentic. Telugu script

[edit]

Dear Mr Chaitanya,

I live in Delhi. I visted National museum three times. There is a gallery devoted to Indian languages, scrits and their evolution. There are many display boards which clearly depict the evolution of Brahmi script. I watched many boards in which Bhatiprolu Brahmi scrpit was shown to have evolved into Telugu-Kannada common script. I did not find any mention of the word "Old Kannada" anywhere. I am sure the displays were painstaking works of scores of British and Indian linguists and historians. I really do not know who created this 'Old Kannada' theory and how some books and websites give credence to this. The chart you placed in the article has been exploited by a bunch of fanatics to insist that Telugu script evolved from 'old Kannada' script, that too in Telugu articles. They would not like to look at the two figures you placed in which 'Telugu-Kannada' was mentioned. On top of it, they brand the souce as unreliable (the same source they cite to stick to'Old Kannada' theory). Few sentences of Adluri written in his webpages in good faith and which reflect his sincere intentions are cited to say that Adluri is not a historian. On the other hand, a couple of guys who have created websites which are drenched with Kannada-centric theories of Indian history are great authorities of Indian history. I have given up arguing with this bunch of fanatics. If someone wants to take up the baton, welcome.Kumarrao 06:27, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Mr Chaitanya's view point is correct. It is sad that some Users are interested in establishing the 'superiority' of their language, region etc., by collaborating with each other, selectively citing some evidences, quoting unknown writers, citing webpages and on top of it, browbeating well-meaning and impassionate Users. Plenty of such indications are available in Kannada and Karnataka related articles. I should say they are during a 'terrific' job.Kumarrao 12:14, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mr Chaitanya,

Please protect my edits in Telugu language. Kumarrao 11:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bouloussou_Soubramaniam_Sastroulou.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:26, 15 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 22:26, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Les Comptoirs de l'Inde.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Regarding Deletion of Photos

[edit]

In order to tag the images properly you really need to know the history of the image. Do you know if these images were published anywhere? There are different rules for determining copyright on images that were published or unpublished. You really need to know what year they were taken and if you know who took them or who the copyright holder is it would make it easier. See [this page] to help determine if the image is in the public domain. If it is not in the public domain, the image will have to meet all the criteria of Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria to be used as fair use. If you know who the copyright holder is then you can ask them for permission to release the image under the GFDL or Creative Commons. All of this is complex and usually very difficult for historic photos, but these are the rules that have evolved on Wikipedia over time to try and avoid copyright infringement and using too many "non-free" images.

If you want me to look at an image and give you an opinion on how to tag it and if I think it will stay on Wikipedia, I can do that. Just give me the link to it and make sure you have everything you know about the image on the image description page. -Regards Nv8200p talk 02:11, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sanskrit words and phrases category

[edit]

Greetings - I am a relatively new Wikipedian and a Sanskrit student, and discovered that the vast majority of Sanskrit words and phrases had not been categorized. Therefore, I chose to take on the project of doing this. Unfortunately a few days ago, another editor decided to revert some of my additions to this category, and a dialogue with this person has proved to be fruitless.

As you are a Sanskrit expert, I am in need of assistance in determining the best additions to this category and am hoping you may be able to help in this situation. There are words and phrases that deserve to be added that this person will not accept. The current revert list appears in this person's contribution section, and included in the list are words including Apris, and I can see no reason why this should not be added. Yesterday, he deleted the word 'Sanskrit' from the list as well. Thank you for any assistance you would like to provide.--Cminard (talk) 11:29, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your most helpful response. I will approach the Hinduism Wikipedians on their talk page that I just located, and request their assistance regarding this matter. Nice to meet you as well.--Cminard (talk) 11:12, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Indian Flag Hoisting in Yanam, 1954.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Eurécom.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

I find that you had added the list of Chief Ministers to the article. As the article grows, due to space constraints, I might be compelled to remove the section. Hope you don't mind. I've taken this decision only because there exists a duplicate copy of the same list. To reduce the size of the article, we could remove this stuff and provide a link to the main list, instead. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:BJPStates2008.PNG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. multichill (talk) 13:52, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: File:Children's Park in Yanam.jpg

[edit]

File:Children's Park in Yanam.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Children's Park in Yanam.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Children's Park in Yanam.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 15:50, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure that the Nizam was defeated in 1795? Going by what i have read, due to mutual distrust, Raghunathrao joined hands with the Nizam. Nizam marched towards Poona in 1763 and was defeated at Rakshabhuvan by Madhavrao Peshwa. Kindly clarify. Thanks Kesangh (talk) 14:02, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I observed that this chaotic article has lot of fights related to whether Reddy is a social group or a honorary title.Reddy denotes a social grouping of many castes and is also used by communities like Kammas,Yadavas,Agnikula Kshatriyas and Vokkaligas as a title to denote a Village Headman.I presently have requested a move to Reddy(Social Group) to avoid further fights.Give your view on the talk page.-Raghavan(Talk) 12:25, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Vavilla Ramaswamy Sastrulu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The subject fails the guidelines of WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. License tagging for File:Cessions by Hyderabad State to British from 1759 to 1853.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cessions by Hyderabad State to British from 1759 to 1853.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Replaceable fair use File:Cessions_by_Hyderabad_State_to_British_from_1759_to_1853.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cessions_by_Hyderabad_State_to_British_from_1759_to_1853.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 14:14, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Mark Peyrade.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mark Peyrade.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Marc Peyrade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Better source request for File:EnricoDeNicola.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of SBPBK Satyanarayana Rao, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-andhrapradesh/former-union-minister-passes-away/article1110231.ece.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Rajahmundry a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! File permission problem with File:Entrance of Yanam.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Entrance of Yanam.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —innotata 19:56, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kala Venkata Rao, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page AICC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Bouloussou family moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Bouloussou family, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Bsskchaitanya please work on this in the draft space. One source is self-published and the other has no mention of the family per a quick search. GPL93 (talk) 17:25, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Bulusu Jaganadha Sastry Signature.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Hinduism

[edit]

Please be aware ofWP:3RR. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 04:26, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Joshua Jonathan May I know why the information on the order of precedence of Hindu scriptures have been reverted. Like all established religions like Islam and Christianity, Hinduism also has that order whenever there exist some discrepancy among its scriptures. This is well known among Hindus. Can you help me in providing more relation. I used to be serious editor until way back in 2010. Due to my current occupation, I have almost stopped. There is a concept of Pramana in Hinduism. For example, you are direct witness of a crime (pratyaksha saakshi). Later, a detective arrives and infers the reason for the crime (anumaana). Then as per order of precedence, more weightage shall be given to direct witness and the inference is discarded. Likewise, there is an order of precedence: Sruti (Vedas), Smriti (it includes Yagnyavalkya smriti, Parasara smriti, Apasthamba smriti, Manu smriti, Mahabharata, Ramayana, etc), Puranas, Sishta Achara (Recent tradition followed by family or a matha) and finally Athma tushti (self satisfaction).
It would be nice if you can help me with adding all that info. Thank you. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 12:01, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Hinduism-article is probably not the right place for such detailed info; but I'm not sure where else it wod be suitable. NB: I've re-added your info, but in a condensed form. Regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 12:35, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Joshua Jonathan Thank my friend for quick response and help. However, I think this information is required. Like in Islam there is Quran and Sunnah. In Sunnah, there are some Hadiths that have more weightage than the doubtful ones. An ordinary Muslim need not know all these deeper aspects and just belive in Allah and his messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him). Similarly, in Hinduism also there is one such order of precedence, which I feel any reader of this article with a genuine interest to know deeper aspects of Hinduism should know about. Please refer this book link, https://books.google.fr/books?id=lxCnDwAAQBAJ&pg=PT179&dq=%C4%80tma+tu%E1%B9%A3%E1%B9%ADi&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiS5NWPsrjpAhVN9IUKHSEtBnsQ6AEIMTAB#v=onepage&q=%C4%80tma%20tu%E1%B9%A3%E1%B9%ADi&f=false . In that reference, we can notice the opinion of different sages (Vasishta, Yagnavalkya) on that order whenever there is a dharma sandeha (doubt) or dharma sankata (crisis). Vasistha is the guru of Lord Ramachandra and Yagnavalkya brought Shukla Yajurveda. Just for information, my family follows Apasthamba smriti (not Manu smriti). I can put some reference by recent acharyas such as those of Kanchi, Sringeri and Mayapur. Because of this order of precedence, if any school of thought opposes Sruti, then that be deemed as Nastika (atheist). During middle ages, there have been attempts to alter and/edit some puranas due to which they are taken as pramana but with lot of caution. This gives more insight on things like why Bhagavat Gita is called Moksha Sastra or Gitopanishad, eventhough it is not part of any Veda and why Prasthana trayi is always considered by the Vedanta schools as scriptural authority.
Regarding vedas being the supreme authority, they are considered so because they are Apauruṣeyā (lit. means "not of a man"). Strikingly, a similar belief exists in Islam also about holy Quran that is a divine revelation and not written by man. The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was required only to receive the sacred text and that he had no authority to change it. I am not sure if such a thing exists in Judaism or Christianity.
So, I am again adding that part with more references. Please, help me in improving that part during your free time. Thank you so much. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 13:16, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've only got a mobile phone at hand now; I'll give a better reply when I'm behind my laptop. Regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 14:20, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
NB: you better open a discussion at the talkpage of Hinduism, to show your good intentions. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 17:36, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Joshua Jonathan Thank you. Now and then when I get free time, I edit some articles. I appreciate your interest and contribution towards topics on Hinduism in wikipedia. I am impressed by the way vedanta schools were classified. Eventhough, there was some minor defects in that classification, the attempt is noteworthy. Take care. These books by Johannes Bronkhorst may be of interest to you:

  • Greater Magadha
  • How theBrahmins won

Free pdf's of both books can be found at the web. Great scholar! Regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 14:29, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Joshua Jonathan Hi friend, I will try to read them. I am big fan of Indian philosophy and Original Buddhism of Gautama Buddha. To have deeper understanding on Indian philosophy please read the Book 'Indian Philosophy' (in 2 volumes) by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, ex-president of India. You can find free copy online. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 20:04, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a summary: Bronkhorst, Johannes (2017), "Brahmanism: Its place in ancient Indian society", Contributions to Indian Sociology 51, 3 (2017): 361-369. It may be a different line of thinking (sceptcal historical research), but Bronkhorst explains that "greater Magadha," where Buddhism originated, was non-Vedic territory; that Brahmanism faced a serious decline during the time of the Second Urbanisation; and that it survived, and eventually gained the upper-hand, because it adapted itself to the circumstances, incoroporating services to kings and rulers and non-Vedic religious traditions. It's probably different from the kind of thought you're used to, not the 'timeless revelation and eternal existence' as Brahmanism seems to present itself, but very interesting.
Frankly, I've never read anything by Radakrishnan, but I did make this contribution diff to his biography. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 20:21, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Joshua JonathanThat book by Radhakrishnan helped me in having better understanding on Hindu philosophy. It is boon that Buddhism has questioned Vedas and many non-sensual aspects of that era. Excellent concepts such as 'trikarana suddhi' (pure mind, pure words and pure actions), non-violence (ahimsa), idea that desire is cause of pain, need for liberation from cycle of birth and death, etc have come into Hinduism. From my understanding Buddhism is the only major religion which expanded without violence but with rational debates. Buddhist impact gave rise to Darsanas and the best out of them is Vedanta. If not Vedanta, Hinduism is nothing but a system of heinous evils ridden with casteism and foolish superstitions. It is Vedanta that helped in Hindu renaissance and social reforms. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give V. Venkatasubha Reddiar a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name.

Thank you. Dl2000 The page itself was created by me many years ago as he was politician from my home town, Yanam. I was away from wikipedia for longtime and recently started contributing to the extent I can. If you think, any false information has been added, then justify it and remove. Dont make personal threats. Who are you to block me. First try to be polite when interacting with others. I am not interested in personal arguments. Stop racist attitude and big brother attitude on Indians and India-related articles. If you are personally interested in the quality of that article or genuinely interested then do contribute to it. Else show your arrogance elsewhere. All the recent references that have been added are authentic and reliable. Related to Pondicherry politics, recently, I have created many articles, 1955 Pondicherry Representative Assembly election, 1959 Pondicherry Representative Assembly election, 1964 Pondicherry Legislative Assembly election, First Assembly of Pondicherry, Second Assembly of Pondicherry, List of speakers of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, Representative Assembly of French India, Pondicherry Representative Assembly, 1951 French India Representative Assembly election, First Pondicherry Representative Assembly, Second Pondicherry Representative Assembly. Since, I have got better sources on Shri. Kamichetty Parasuram, I have added those references and tried to remove the vague references. You are accusing me as if I am doing some disruptive editing. I notice there is lot of arm-twisting is being done by western editors on Indian editors when it comes to India-related articles. Gone are the days of racism and hegemony. Better behave yourself and learn to be polite. I iterate, If you feel there is some wrong or misleading information provided by me in the article prove it and delete it. I am surprised; why this tag is kept, "its sources remain unclear because it has insufficient inline citations". I have kept references from sources of Government of India or Government of Puducherry. May be you are expecting references by some westerner to provide CLARITY to the article.Bsskchaitanya (talk) 13:58, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Bsskchaitanya, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

Category:Bouloussou family of Yanam has been nominated for renaming. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. Kj cheetham (talk) 23:06, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi talk. You may rename it as per wikipedia norms. My broad intention is to create articles of notable families who were natives of Yanam during French era. Some articles related to other families of Yanam created by me are Bollozzou Bassavalingam of Bollozzou family, Kamichetty Venougopala Rao Naidou, Kamichetty Sri Parassourama Varaprassada Rao Naidu, Kamichetty Savithri from Kamichetty family, Bezawada Bapanaya Naidou of Bezawada family and Manyam Zamindar of Manyam family. I am not active now a days in wikipedia. Now and then I visit to add some information. Collecting valid references takes lot of time. So, I keep it as my personal hobby during leisure time. Have a nice day. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 03:02, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I can't comment on the notability, but as long as the family surnames are unique there is probably no need to include "of Yanam" in any new category names. Keep up the good work. -Kj cheetham (talk) 09:01, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Bulusu Jaganadha Sastry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG. Article was written by a relative and while the subject's father may meet notability standards notability is WP:NOTINHERITED. The references are either basic government documents such as census information and death certificates or simply list him as being a member of large organizations without any in-depth coverage.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on K. Annamalai (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. You've received several warnings for copyright violations previously. Checking your recent edits, I found this one to Fourth Rangaswamy ministry, where you copied "Incidentally, this is the first time the saffron party is part of a Ministry in the Union Territory. Another first would be the induction of a woman member in the cabinet after 41 years, with Priyanga being chosen as minister." from the source. If you want to be unblocked, you must demonstrate a better understanding of copyright and commit to writing stuff in your own words. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 17:58, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moneytrees May I know what is the gross violation that was done in the edit. I tried to highlight the point that after many decades a female minister got appointed in the current Puducherry goverment (Fourth Rangaswamy ministry), which is very positive news. I am resident of Puducherry UT. A valid reference was also given for that appiontment. Now, I notice that I am unable to edit any other page as well. I am not regular in wikipedia now a days. But, time to time I do some edits. May I know what is the process to get unblocked??? Did anyone complained that a copyright violation has been done?? I dont even know that I have been partial blocked!!!! Perhaps, I should stick to edits only related to philosophy and history rather than current affairs or politics. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 04:22, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You've been warned at least three times previously for copying text from sources into articles; August 2020, May 2020, and March 2014. The only problem with your edit to Fourth Rangaswamy ministry was that it was mostly copied from the cited source. To be unblocked you need to be able to convince us that you will no longer copy from sources. I would like to see you unblocked, as you have done a lot of good work in a more obscure area of the encyclopedia. Moneytrees🏝️Talk/CCI guide 01:24, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Hi Bsskchaitanya. On commencing this review I tried to construct some questions for you, to improve the prospects of the apepal. Unfortunately it proved impossible to do. Copyright violations are a serious breach of Wikipedia policy. You've had warnings over several years not to keep adding copyright material to Wikipedia pages, and you've ignored those warnings. Given that history it really isn't believable that you have now suddenly ""understood how to avoid copyright violations"" when you haven't understood it previously. The best I can do in declining this appeal is to leave talkpage access open in case you wish to lodge another one which actually states in detail what the copyright policy is; how you came to breach it, and how you'll avoid that in future. Without more detail on these topics these appeals will never be approved. -- Euryalus (talk) ~

Request reason:

I was blocked last year in July for repeated copyright violations. While editing some articles I have copied the sentences as they are. Even Though I had no evil intention perse, I now clearly understand that they amount to Copyright violation. For example, last year while editing the article Fourth Rangaswamy ministry, I used some sentences taken from the Indian news website 'news18'. Although I have quoted the reference, I have understood that it is important to provide the information in my own words rather than blatant copying of sentences. I was warned twice previously and finally I got banned as I didn't change my course. I was initially hurt, but I realized that it is my genuine interest to contribute as much as reliable, true information I know or gathered that made me an editor in wikipedia way back in 2006. Since then, I have created and/or edited many articles on various topics such as Indian colonial history, Indian philosophy, linguistics, religion and Indian politics, etc. For me wikipedia is a garden of knowledge and I am ever grateful for whatever knowledge I have obtained from it. I do agree that I have made some mistakes such as copyright violation, which is indeed a very serious offence as per wikipedia policies. To amend that I have read the wikipedia copyright policies and understood what precautions are needed when creating or editing the articles. With all humility and responsibility I hereby put forward my appeal to unblock as it is no longer necessary. I assure you that in case if I am unblocked then I make sure that I do not repeat the aforementioned violation while making useful contributions. I will duly refer to the valid references and also frame sentences in my own words instead of copying them as it is. I hope that a positive decision will be taken on my appeal. Thank you very much.Bsskchaitanya (talk) 22:06, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

@Moneytrees: Unlike previous unblock requests, this one does seem to me to show an understanding of the need to write text in one's own words. I am inclined to give the editor another chance. That would be on the understanding, of course, that further copyright problems woyld result in restoration of the block, but I would hope that wouldn't happen. What do you think? JBW (talk) 15:31, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW: Sorry for the wait, I have been taking a sort of unannounced break recently. I believe this appeal demonstrates the required understanding of the situation and a good promise not to copy from sources again, so I am open to unblocking. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 06:15, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article François Coyle de Barneval has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable. A WP:BEFORE search finds only a few single-sentence trivial mentions that don't constitute significant coverage, and he can't inherit notability from his mother-in-law.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Bsskchaitanya Thank you for updating with citations. Couple of suggestions: Instead of "His daughter one being Khair-un-Nisa Begum's son Muzaffar Jung also became Nizam later but for very short period.", change this to "His grandson Muzaffar Jung also became Nizam later but for very short period." Reason being, the citation doesn't mention Khair-un-Nisa, unless you can add additional citation to prove that. I would also suggest that instead of class 8 textbook, if you can find a citation by academic historian or related. This sentence needs to be improved "Muzzafar Jung being favourite grandson of Asaf Jah I was the only thing that Nasir Jung to hesitate about executing Muzaffar Jung when he imprisoned during the Second Carnatic War." But the citation supporting it from Regani Sarojini is good due to her being a scholar and academicians. And last sentence of the paragraph needs to be cited "This feud between Nasir Jung and Muzaffar Jung was one of the most pivotal events in Indian history that led to the interference of European powers and ultimate domination of British in Indian peninsula in the later years." Otherwise good work. MehmoodS (talk) 18:45, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Turquoise Throne has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unneeded CFORK of Bahmani Sultanate#Turquoise Throne. Subject lacks IS RS with SIGCOV addressing the subject directly and indepth. Merge was reverted, but sourced content remains at the article. No objection to restoring the redirect to Bahmani Sultanate#Turquoise Throne.

// Timothy :: talk  20:45, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Page details of edit

[edit]

Hi, can you provide the page details for your edit on Kapu (caste) page where Kamichetty Sri Parassourama Varaprassada Rao Naidu is mentioned as belonging to the Kapu community? Reference: J. B. Prashant More (2007). "The Telugus of Yanam and Masulipatnam: From French rule to Integration with India". Nikh Nori (talk) 11:24, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nikh Nori I have that book in my personal collection but I can access it only when I go to India. I take note of it and update it with the page number after referring to the book. As unofficial confirmation, I can vouch that he belongs to the Kapu caste because I am a native of the same town, Yanam, and my father was a close associate of Late Kamichetty Parasuram Garu. I will also go through the French records which referred to this caste by the French name 'Telinga'. During French rule, his ancestors were in Politics since 1880s. In fact, Yanam politics was dominated by members of the Kapu caste from 1872 until 1989. Other freedom fighters from Yanam, namely Canacala Tatayya Naidou (grandfather of Rajeev Kanakala), Madimchetty Satianandam, Erra Jagannadha Raw were from Kapu caste as well. But, we don't find too many references mentioning their caste name so I avoid putting their names in Wikipedia. There are statues of his father (K. Venougopalaraw Naidou), him, and his wife (K. Savithiry) in Yanam. I will photograph them and upload them soon.Bsskchaitanya (talk) 11:48, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Please update the page number on the Kapu page whenever you find it. On a side note, the current Yanam MLA, Malladi is a Matsyakara, right? Who is numerically more in number in Yanam, Kapus, or Matsyakaras? Nikh Nori (talk) 06:06, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I will update it when after referring to the book. The current MLA of Yanam is Gollapalli Srinivas Ashok, who is again from the Kapu caste. It is an influential caste in Yanam but not in numerical strength. Many have emigrated to other places. Numerically strong castes are Dalits and Agnikula Kshatriyas (i.e. Matyakaras). Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

A tag has been placed on File:Karamāla for Japa.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag and if necessary, a complete fair use rationale.

Your recent editing history at 2023 Cricket World Cup group stage shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. wjematherplease leave a message... 13:07, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Ram Mandir, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Once again, DO NOT change the lede when the discussions are currently undergoing in the talk page. Kindly establish consensus before making any more changes. The Herald I did not understand what you mean my edit was not constructive. Most religious beliefs are hypotheses if we only see from a rational perspective. You mean practising Hindus don't believe Ayodhya to be birth place of Rama? Is BBC the only reliable source? It is surprising to see how Ram mandir is being presented to a neutral reader in Wikipedia. I will do my best to make edits as per Wikipedia guidelines. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 12:36, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon You have recently made edits related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. This is a standard message to inform you that India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Ram Mandir. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 15:04, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Herald I was waiting for your reply in the talk page to make any edit about the word hypothesized in the lede. As far as I know, I didn't made reverts after you warned me. I however made a edit in lede about Ayodhya being one among seven sacred cities. In other parts of the article, I have made changes about supreme court's take on ASI report, the underlying structure being non-Islamic and also strong evidence about Hindus' belief that the disputed site was Janmabhoomi of Rama. I tried to add reference related to K K Mohammed, an ASI ex-officer who was involved in Ayodhya excavations. Also, the original name of Mosque in the historical documents until mid-Twentienth century was added with a reference. Can you point out if it comes under edit warring? Thank you. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 17:30, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The page is fully protected, so as far as the edit war goes, it's moot. Refer to the closing statement of edit war noticeboard by RegentsPark. Now, let's be civil and tread carefully, bro. About the hypothesized part, I stopped replying because it was also moot. Refer to the latest edit request decline (Talk:Ram_Mandir#Protected_edit_request_on_22_January_2024) in the talk page where an IP also requested to remove the word and how an admin replied. Wikipedia doesn't work like a newspaper or a journal. Here, we only take facts from reliable sources and arrange it in a page and present it to the viewer. Trust me, I've been around for over a decade and I know how it goes. If you can provide reliable multiple independent sources saying the place was not hypothesized/believed, but a fact, it will b3 changed. Else, it won't. Supreme court judgement doesn't matter. According to Wikipedia, BBC is a highly reputed and reliable source. And if it says the place is believed/hypothesized as the site of Ram's birth, then it is. That's all. Hence keep that in mind. Ping me any time you want any assistance or drop a message on my talkpage. Toodles. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:03, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Now, you are talking like a good Wikipedia editor. We are all here to enrich this beautiful web of knowledge, Wikipedia. I will do my best to provide reliable sources. I understand that BBC is rightly reputed but can you guarantee that BBC can never go wrong and doesn't have any bias in its reportage. Better to add few more reliable sources that's all. My concern was on the word hypothesized. There is no issue with the word "believed" because religion is all about beliefs; whether utterly stupid or really convincing. It is a matter of faither than reason. Frankly speaking, I was aghast by your cold replies in that article's talk page until now. It felt like a threat to any editor who doesn't support your view. I didn't do revert after you warned me. But, now I am impressed by your kind gesture to offer a branch of olive. I can sense that you got familiarized really well with Wikipedia guidelines. I have to agree that after 2011 I wasn't seriously on Wikipedia. Most of times I don't edit articles that have political or religious contentions involved to avoid edit warring. Henceforth, I would like to work with you to improve the quality of Ram mandir article. There are few issues related ASI report's criticism, original name of the mosque in historical Islamic sources prior to twentieth century, significance of Ayodhya among Hindus. May be it is better to mention these issues in the talk page of that article so that we can get diverse views to reach a better consensus. Have a great day ahead. Take care. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 18:35, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, hypothesized is used as a synonym for the term believed in the lede to avoid close paraphrasing with the original BBC article to avoid copyright violation. Hence, it was selected in 2019 and put in the lede. Check talk page archives and article history for the same. It has nothing to do with any religious sentiment. Also, you have to establish on the WP:Reference desk that BBC is unreliable or biased. Otherwise, BBC will be considered as a reliable source and you have to respect that. That's how Wikipedia works. You have to gather consensus for everything. Also, it's nothing personal. I saw a disruptive editing pattern and reverted it. That's all. Anyways, have a good day. Happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 18:49, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See how amicably you provided the reason for inclusion of the sentence involving the word "hypothesized" I expected some reply like this in that talk page. Nevertheless, we can now reframe that sentence to make it more easy for reading to avoid any ambiguities. Just for your understanding, it is something wierd like a Christian declaring himself as hypothesizer of Jesus Christ instead of the word believer. Obviously there will be numerous reliable and valid sources apart from BBC and I will do my best to provide resources so that a consensus can be achieved on this wording. Have a nice day bro. Take care. Bsskchaitanya (talk) 14:42, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thumb @Bsskchaitanya Sandeep Ranju (talk) 00:49, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sandeep Ranju Dear friend, thanks for your message. If I understood correctly you meant to indicate in the that Lord Venkatasewara is Vishnu himself rather than an avatar of Vishnu. According to the Hindu scriptures, the avatars of Lord Vishnu are of two types. Pūrṇā and Amśa (lit.'A part'). In the the Pūrṇāvatāra, Vishnu himself was supposed to have descended on Earth directly from his abode. In the Amśavatāra, an equivalent part (or a copy) of him was sent to take the incarnation. Among the Dasavataras, the Nrisimha, Rama and Krishna are said to be the Purnavataras of Vishnu.[1] As per Vaishnava scriptures, Lord Vishnu is supposed to have five forms: Para, Vyuha, Vibhava, Archa, and Antaryami. The third one 'Vibhava' or 'Avatara' implies the form when he descends on the Earth. So, Venkateswara is indeed 'Purnavatara' of Lord Vishnu, which implies he directly descended from Vaikunta himself, like in the case of Gajendramoksha story. I will go through the article and see if we can make any changes in accordance to Wikipedia guidelines. Take care.
