Using CAPS is widely known to be meant as shouting and the ?! at the end I suppose is offensive, but that doesn't bother me as that's your problem. Not sure why your getting another editor involved as this is such a small issue. I think links shouldn't be hidden behind words and do you really think someone reading about a player needs to know what replacing means? Links are good, not when the text becomes hard to read. Like i said, sorry for any incovenience, i knew instantly this might be an issue, i did not want to be offensive but i instantly knew after pressing "enter" i might come across as such, i apologize again, can't be doing it over and over again. The caps problem is when i want to emphasize on a particular word, not shouting in my case; for the "!?" bit i have no excuse for, really uncalled for.

Getting another user involved? Merely to get a second opinion, not that i don't think yours is valid or anything or not that i was complaining and whining to the other user, i also apologize it that was not a propos WP standard procedure. If you notice, i have not reinstated the links after you removed them a second time with a completely valid summary.

It was only after I responded to you on the talk page for Greg LeMond that I saw that you had, in fact, already made some edits to the article. Just wanted to say thanks and ask that you continue to assist GBD and I to the degree that you're able, as we've carried the entire burden of improving the article dramatically in the past two months with little effective feedback except from not even a handful of other editors, which is a shame (since the subject is definitely worthy of full-treatment). Bradley Wiggins Lead

Hey broseph, like the work on the page, keep it up. In the lead where you go on about the Summer Olympics, try to find a way to not have "Summer Olympics" repeated over and over (I was playing around with it but I'm just too tired to think of anything good). I removed the 2012's from the last sentence in the next paragraph since they weren't necessary as you stated "In 2012" at the beginning. Caja Rural Editorial Discussion

I am new to editing Wikipedia articles, so I am not sure about the accepted way to discuss changes with other editors. So, apologies if inclusion on your Talk page is not appropriate. I did address this in the "Talk" section of the article itself, and inserted a hidden tag in the article text pointing to that, but not sure if these would be conspicuous if you are watching a large number of pages.

The issue was that my inclusion on 21 January 2013 of a list of co-sponsors and descriptions was deleted, with the brief explanation as its being unencyclopedic. I thought that my inclusion of this information would establish with the reader the team's credentials as a credible newcomer and also as an entrenched Basque regional player. As it stands now the Sponsor section has only one sentence that strikes me more as a 'factoid' than truly relevant and pertaining more to the brand of bike than to the team.

Was the objection that there were links to commercial websites? I would be happy to reinstate the information but omit those links if so. The links were only added in case a reader sought additional information on companies that were not covered by Wikipedia articles.

If the objection was that the section's detail is out of balance with the rest of the article, I think that is a fair observation; but as is probably evident, I have taken a interest in this article and it is work in progress. So, I would hope to expand the other information as I compile it.

The issue I had was that it didn't seem worthy of the article, I'm not sure if having a section listing all their current sponsors is needed. I have removed to entire section for now. Just thought you should know, the reason that article was unreferenced was because an IP vandal removed half the article including all the references, back in August 2011. I've just restored it while adding a new reference in relation to an upcoming rebrand. You may want to review it as it almost certainly led to duplication due to intermediate edits. Thanks. Hi there. You don't know me, but I was just reading Reading, Berkshire. I have alot of connection with this town, and it was great to read a well-developed and well-written article like the one you did. On the basis of that article alone I was going to come here and thank you for the work you did, but then I noticed you'd also spun out alot of the info into separate articles, just as well-written and really insightful into the more niche areas it covered. As said, I have a real interest in this town, and it's a real service the work you did for people like me with that interest. I'm so grateful that I've decided to give you a barnstar. I can see from your frontpage you do already have one for your Reading work, but surely you can never have enough barnstars! Thank you and again a great read. Future Publishing > Future plc

Hello, well done on updating the articles that are Published by Future plc. I have a slight problem with some of the edits though. As an example take Mega, Future Publishing published the magazine, long before the company floated on the stock market and even longer before the name change to Future plc. I think its wrong to change this historic information in articles published before the name change, as it is incorrect information, readers will find that Future plc have never published a magazine called Mega, I think a piped link to Future plc that says Future Publishing would be a better solution. Wikipedia doesn't update record labels, book publishers or film publishers as their titles change hands or as their companies change name and I think that policy should be applied in this case as well. Thanks for fixing up the image! Looks great. Since then it has been challenged by Stefan2 (talk) on fair use grounds under the contention that a free alternative exists, or that no such claim of its being irreplaceable is made (which it was). This contention is supported by nothing factual as far as I can tell. See my talk page. Any advice on how to make this go away would be appreciated. Thanks OK. It happened to Ineos Grenadiers's jersey as well, here. He's actually right because a plain coloured jersey can be used instead, like on FC Barcelona. I agree this needs to be brought up, but I disagree with Stefan2 for the reasons I cited in the dispute tag to the image file. I think that those sorts of sanitised images as used in FC Barcelona do not convey the same information or identify the team. In the case of Caja Rural, a depiction of a green shirt with a white horizontal stripe and yellow piping would not even uniquely identify the team, and could even be argued to be so far removed from the original as to demean the team's intended image or corrupt its intended corporate identity. The notion that there is a risk to the copyright holder of commercial exploitation from Wikipedia's publishing an image like this or that it could lead to the garment becoming a generic pattern in the public domain is preposterous. Hi! I noticed you edit a lot of cycling articles, happy to "meet" you :). I edited the Renshaw article and noticed in the history that a guy deleted a big chunk of the article in 3 edits in 2010, I don't really know how to revert that, it seems to be downright blanking. 2013 Tour of California

Hi! I wrote the 2012 one, I'm in to start the 2013 one (I think), but I was wondering if there was a "skeleton" for a cycling race available somewhere, I know they have on the French wiki. At least you guys don't have much climbs I reckon! A pleasure to go up on any surface, but here the descents are an obstacle course... I just swinged the article (2013 Tour of California) into mainspace, still I'll do more.

I am not one for arguing a lot, but I think B-Watchmework has a point about palmares, if you care to read what I replied on his page. But as for me, when I check for prior results, I rarely include anything below a top 5, unless it is a big classic or an overall on a World Tour stage race. Anyway, I like to edit, and cycling articles of "average to stub" riders really suck, I try to put some text in the best I can, which is why I think we should be tolerant. I hope he heeds my advice though, saying we need more referenced texts than palmares additions. So great to have found an experienced editor that actually cares, (you!) if you want to add to the article as the race goes by, it would be great, I hate to do tables! It varies throughout the country, round here there's a lot of small steep climbs. I'm sure B-Watchmework will get to know the ropes eventually. The ToC looks good. Nice work on the Hesjedal Giro update (I need to do Wiggo's). One thing though, the Cyclingnews.com ref you've used won't point (URL) to the 2013 Giro next year; for example Ryder Hesjedal#cite note-21 cites stage 7's result, but you end up at this years. That one is solved by replacing /giro-ditalia/ → /races/giro-ditalia-2012/. There must be tons of links on wiki that point to this years races but are cited for a previous years. Nightmare right? I am not sure where this issue stands in the broader Wikipedia and Cycling WikiProject, but it would appear that we have prevailed in our argument that team kit images used in the way they are in the team Wikipedia pages qualify as Fair Use. I don't understand why the table backgrounds need to be green and images are generally aligned to the left in lists. See List of Grand Tour general classification winners for a good example or WP:FLA for all featured lists. Bald Boris 09:27, 27 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So far as I can tell, this particular List has become something fairly unique, perhaps a hybrid tables-&-text, so in terms of the previous blue background color, that was rendered for visual clarity and interest, otherwise the decades seemed to meld all together.

Regarding the placement of the images, there are a couple of reasons for their previous placement. 1)They were specifically placed under the Decades headers (1910s, 1970s, etc) to delineate a change in time and to visually place the cyclists within their "times". 2)Unlike List of Grand Tour general classification winners, many of these cyclists do not have their own article or even images and I had difficulty finding appropriate CC-licensed pics, so, per Lists that have photos of individuals (like Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps), the photos at least were placed on the same side as the names. The photo of Peter Günther and the photo of the Stan Ockers Street sign as they appear now are somewhat problematic, since they both look away from the article itself and per WP:IMAGELOCATION were placed so they would look at their decade's text.

Hey BaldBoris

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Hi - I just edited Andrey Kashechkin to include an image in the infobox, and it's of him in Astana team colors, but is a six-year old image! There are, I think, five images of "Kash" in wikimedia commons we could draw on: the one Astana shot and then four Lampre pics. The Lampre ones are higher-resolution and one of them is quite well-composed imo, but of course Kash no ride for dem nomore! Can you help me discover consensus: should we use the old Astana image, or a nicer, newer Lampre image, even though he's not on Lampre anymore?

The only time I can see it being useful for periodicals is when the publication is particularly obscure, and the publisher's name might provide another way of tracing it. That certainly doesn't apply to Billboard or the New York Times. There's no benefit in giving the reader information they can't use. (And with US newspapers there's an additional reason to omit it because the law distinguishes between the legal owner (e.g. The New York Times Company) and the publisher, always an individual, so it's not even accurate.) Just a quick note that the medal record in the infobox has two different formats for the two medals; World Championships has year first, whereas the Olympics has year following the location. I don't suppose it matters what way we put it, but as long as the two correlate with one another! Once finished, it will look great. As I said before, it will get to GA without a doubt. Hopefully it doesn't take three months like it usually does, for example when I stuck last year's Dauphiné up for GAN in mid-January, and it wasn't until the end of April that it got the green light. Clean slate sounds good to me. It's how I'm approaching the rest of the season with the race summaries I think. Although I was disappointed that nobody picked up with the reports for the Tour, I'm glad I stood back. I got to the stage after the Dauphiné and the Tour de Suisse (writing up those reports on holiday, man!), that I hit the wall. But I should be afresh for Saturday and the start of Poland...in Italy...and its two-day salvo before a rest day...and six-rider teams... Going to be something different! Hopefully, the review request won't go stagnant, and that it can be turned over pretty quickly. I enjoyed the race more so than previous years, because it is was eventful from start to finish. No mega mass crashes, like the Metz massacre, and we only lost 29 riders due to withdrawals during the race. Poland is really going to be quite interesting; Sky have a mega squad, with Urán and Henao tuning up for the Vuelta. I think the most interesting thing with the six-rider teams would be the reduced leadouts, and that potentially, GC men would be doing leadouts that would not usually occur. Potential assistance with cropping

Hey man, long time no speak. Good to see some of the Simpson articles getting that GA icon. Basically, I may be requiring your assistance for potentially cropping some photos that I snapped at the Tour of Britain on Monday... you know the day that it basically rained harder than it did on Sunday in Scotland, and harder than the safari park on Tuesday. That and potentially a second set of eyes on the photos. Any help would be much appreciated, and for which ones that could be usable on Commons. :) Here's the set. Yeah, all's well. Still trying to catch up on the palmares from Sunday 15th onwards, just because of how busy I've been in the last 7 to 10 days. Typical GA backlog; it will get reviewed eventually, I hope. Yeah, it was a good race overall. Knew Wiggins had it covered after the win at Knowsley, but it was good to see some young talent winning some stages with Sam Bennett winning at Caerphilly (thought he was really unlucky at Kendal, where Ciolek had him covered at the 15% finishing hill of Beast Banks), and Simon Yates coming off a superb Tour de l'Avenir to take the queen stage at Haytor. Ah yeah, that was the one that finished on the pavé in Guildford? No surprises about the winner on that one... Whether Mr. Cavendish keeps the rainbows, I'm not too sure. Don't think the terrain suits him for Sunday. Weather permitting of course. Ah, that's a shame, but I certainly agree with you on the seeing them in the flesh part. That was a first experience of cycling live in person rather than on TV for me. Had the chance to see the National Championships when they were up in Glasgow, but I was flying home from Canada that day so I was rather jet-lagged.

Can honestly see the race going 2.HC within the next few years, I think. The event is coming on strong of late, and coupled with the two Grand Tour starts in the British Isles next year, it's definitely high time for the most prestigious race in our country to be boosted in its classification. I would put Yates as favourite to win the world title on Friday; looks a mighty strong entry list with the likes of Caleb Ewan, Jasper Stuyven, Petr Vakoč, Michael Valgren, Davide Villella, Dylan van Baarle and Nick van der Lijke also potentially starting. Under-23 race could even beat the main race for wide open-ness. Barhatch Lane is one tight piece of tarmac. Looks bloody amazing even on Google Maps. Martin's too strong for everyone in the time trial nowadays; he just has the odd off time-trial, but he's even more dominant than what Cancellara was. Perhaps Spartacus was keeping something back for Sunday, who knows. But it is wide open. I might put a small wager on either Valverde or Boasson Hagen; the latter is 40/1(!) with Paddy Power. Yeah, I'll get that set changed tomorrow. I would do it tonight, but I'm probably going to head to bed in a minute as work has finally caught up on me from earlier! It's a hard life sometimes! I had a look through it earlier on, but it looks as if only around half of the photos have gone up, which is quite strange. All the photos away from the cycling seem to have been uploaded but about 90 images haven't gone up... Strange. Yeah, the categories are a bit off considering the tags that I stuck on the photos. Sunday's race was rather damp... almost as bad as conditions in Kendal a fortnight ago. I admittedly caught only the final two hours of the race because of the MotoGP that was on earlier in the day. From what I saw, Purito digged deep, but Costa seemed to want it more. Purito gave up in the closing metres, and padded Costa's victory to a near-bike length. I've been impressed with Costa this season; ripped them apart in Switzerland again, and took two fine stage wins at the Tour. Another world champion's jersey going to Lampre, via Movistar at the end of this season. Glad Valverde beat Nibali for the bronze though; some dodgy adjudicating from the commissaires on homeground of course. Five road medals but no golds... Will it ever come good for him? The British team... well... the less said about them, the better. It was a total disaster. You have to play the conditions, no matter how bad they are. Look at the other big nations; Spain had four left at the end, Belgium four, and Italy likewise. Great Britain were an embarrassment. Four riders with medals; the newly-retired Katie Colclough's gold in the TTT, Wiggins' silver and then Froome and Thomas getting a bronze in the TTT. Shocking. Perfect lead into a Commonwealths year.
