There's an IP there who keeps changing British to English, and you've reverted him a couple of times, I think. I find him to be a difficult editor. Is there a convention for cyclists to be British rather than English / Scottish etc? Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:42, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- I've reverted it back with a short summary. If he reverts that then a block is need. It's generally expected that a rider from England rides for Great Britain, except from at the Commonwealths, which is what I think has got this IP excited. BaldBoris 13:54, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I thought the convention might be something along those lines. You can see on his talk page that he left me a lovely little personal attack, so if you report him for anything, be sure to include that. Cheers, Bretonbanquet (talk) 19:22, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
Reading photo-montage
Boris, on Talk:Reading, Berkshire you wrote:
- I've changed a couple of the photos around which you've mentioned. BaldBoris 20:15, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, but are you sure that change took hold?. What I see is that you have changed the caption (both on the article and the commons image page) but not the actual image; so the image no longer matches the caption. I guess it might be some form of caching that is deceiving me, but I've tried all the usual cache-clearing tricks without effect. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 09:41, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Boris, I've reverted your changes to the captions, pending the changes to the montage, which still don't seem to have taken effect. Please feel free to rerevert once they do. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 15:04, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
- The problem's your end Chris. Why would SovalValtos comment about the changes if there were none. BaldBoris 15:18, 14 August 2014 (UTC)
- How bizarre. I've confirmed that you are correct by visiting from a different system, but even after 3+ days I still cannot persuade my desktop PC to refresh its cache. Apologies for the confusion. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 09:17, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
Happy First Edit Day
Copyright issues
Hello, BaldBoris. As you know, some content you added was recently placed on the copyright problems board after a bot picked up that it may have been copied from an external site. A check showed that content was copied and closely paraphrased from the source. Looking further into your contributions, I have found some additional close following from other sources in other articles, and also a more substantial issue in what looks to be large scale copying of content from one Wikipedia article to another. Just as most sites on the web, Wikipedia's content is not public domain. It is liberally licensed for use and reuse anywhere, as long as you meet the terms of the license. One of these terms is mandatory attribution of the content. Without this attribution, reuse of the content is a copyright problem.
Fortunately, that particular problem is easily fixed by belated attribution, as described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. You can see an example where I have repaired attribution here (with notes on the talk pages). However, until this attribution is supplied, any article that has content copied from other articles (unless you were the sole substantial contributor there) will be in violation of our copyright policies and Terms of Use, as well as of the license of the contributors.
Because this work must be done, and to facilitate looking for any other issues of Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing, I have opened Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/BaldBoris. This is to help ensure that any outstanding issues are not overlooked. Your help in repairing problems would be very welcome, especially as regards unattributed copying. There's quite a backlog at Contributor copyright investigations (CCI), and if you can find and repair other issues of unattributed copying, noting so on that page, it could more quickly lead to that page's archival.
With respect to copying and closely paraphrasing from other sources, please review Wikipedia:Copy-paste and Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. If you have any questions about this subject, or about this CCI, I am happy to try to assist. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:52, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- I must admit I wasn't fully aware of the copyright rules a few years ago, but you won't find anything untoward since. I have copied from one article to another, which I believed was helping and not for my benefit. I intend to look into my edit history, and in the future I'll make sure I give attribution when copying from within. BaldBoris 19:54, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
Hello BaldBoris, I hope you're doing fine, I just wanted to let you know I reverted your edit on Froome's article pertaining to the table of one-week stage races. I think it is very probably accurate and could be backed up by Cyclingarchives, at least the top ten results. Not to mention it is very pleasing to the eye that all those races are summed up in a table. I think you did well to throw out the watts text though. Give me news if you don't agree, cheers! Favor?
Hello there! I've a favor to ask. I just noticed that the Sophie Hunter page has an external image which is outdated. The photo from IMDB was from 2011 but there's a newly uploaded photo that is more suitable, taken just this month. This one http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1259206656/tt2084970 or this one http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1275983872/tt2084970. I hope you can help in changing it (or removing it altogether as I don't think it's necessary to the page at all). Thank you very much!196.202.245.2 (talk) 13:06, 19 November 2014 (UTC)
