You have edited the Template:Infobox Swimmer. But when a swimmer hasn't won medals yet the infobox became twice as big as it should be with a big white sheet. Take a look at the following pages and you will see what i mean: Joeri Verlinden, Marieke Guehrer and Matt Jaukovic. Maybe you can fix this problem because it looks terrible this way. Hi - I see you have recently created one or more new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Discoveries - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 00:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- S'alright - at least the template is a sensible one. The category, though, is likely to stay small for a while so it may need to be upmerged for now. Grutness...wha? 08:09, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

AFC Wimbledon
Why did you make this move (AFC Wimbledon to A.F.C. Wimbledon) without discussion? As can be seen at #History, "AFC" does not stand for anything, specifically not for "Association Football Club". I suggest that you revert your change, at least pending consensus for it. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 03:20, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Coat of arms of Sabah.png
Thanks for uploading File:Coat of arms of Sabah.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:43, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of South Kilburn F.C.
A tag has been placed on South Kilburn F.C. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Macromonkey (talk) 22:02, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
I flagged the article as it is not a notable club. I understand that a lot of work must have gone into it and apologise, i merely applied what i knew to the article. If you follow the instructions on the page, you can contest the deletion. I hope you realise i did not flag the article maliciously, I jsut patrol new pages. all the best, Macromonkey (talk) 22:11, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Jon Main
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jon Main, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Never played professional football.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Jon Main
I have nominated Jon Main, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jon Main. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Hi, "excessively repeated reference" means "repeating the same citation over and over again, too much". I've restored the one against his height, because that isn't mentioned anywhere other than the infobox. But if you just have one citation at the end of the lead section, that will be enough referencing for the items in that paragraph, they don't need to be all cited individually. Also, the ESPN page cited doesn't give his place of birth or his full name, nor does it mention his debut or his goals in the Ligapokal. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:08, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Birmingham City F.C. infobox logo
Hi, I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by your edit summary "100px is too small and unviewable". Please remember that the page has to be viewed by users with a variety of screen widths: at 1024x768, for instance, the logo at 150px overwhelms the first page of the article. The fair use rationale states that "The logo is a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution." The display size of 100px is plenty large enough to maintain the quality, as is illustrated by its having been displayed at that size without comment or complaint for the past two years to my knowledge. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:01, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Also, at that size and screen resolution, the infobox pushes into the body of the first section, which is presumably why you moved the first image away from where it logically belongs. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:07, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

- I'm afraid the best image you can find on the net is the one on the Luton Town F.C. page. However, as you'll probably have noticed, the only difference is the "1885"… can you simply add the "1885" to the SVG you've already made?
IRC
Hi,
Just a quick note per our IRC chat; I thought it might be useful if I left some of the links we discussed here on your page for you.
Also, I've discovered some more information, which will clarify what happened.
Now that I've checked the logs of the file, I see exactly what you mean, and what has happened.
You can see from the logs;
- You uploaded the file originally
- Andrew c (talk · contribs) then uploaded a new version (reduced size)
- Andrew c then deleted the file, with the comment 'nonfree reduce replaceament'
- Andrew c then uploaded a new file under the same name - thus creating a new page, with no history
- You then changed the file used on Reading F.C. from Image:Reading badge.png to Image:Reading FC.svg with this edit
You are quite right in saying that this is only something an admin can do - ie the deletion part. You could achieve the same result yourself, by requesting a deletion etc...however, I'm not convinced that it's the best solution anyway. 'We' (Wikipedia) like to keep the associated history with pages, wherever possible.
Now - links;
- Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload
- Wikipedia:SVG Help
- Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual/Formatting and Illustrating Articles/Adding Images
- (In fact, the missing manual is good for lots of stuff)
- WP:PUMP (for general discussion; if you want to ask about whether SVG is best for small logo's etc)
The 'retouched' tag;
- Example of me using it; commons:File:243_ida_crop.jpg
- The tag itself; template:RetouchedPicture
- The syntax is;
{{RetouchedPicture|List of modifications|orig=Example.svg|editor=Example}}
I hope this helps;

Dashes
Those symbols in the editing box are dashes. The one on the left (the smaller one) is an en dash, while the larger one next to it is an em dash. I don't think you can use the keyboard to type either dash into an article, but just clicking one of the symbols in the box will place it where the cursor is. WP:DASH has more information on proper usage of dashes; in Nicol David, the score ranges are correctly using en dashes. In several places, such as the Other Titles listing, I see spaced hyphens that should be changed to either spaced en dashes or unspaced em dashes. Hopefully this isn't too confusing, and I wish you luck in improving David's article. Giants2008 (17-14) 17:11, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

SVG Size
To me they seemed a little on the large size, given that fair use images are supposed to be as small as reasonably possible,(will consider de-tagging). The size reduction can easily be done by changing the nominal size in the SVG file IIRC.
Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:01, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, Have looked at the examples you mention, de-tagging pending further disscussions.
- To me hi-res is anything over about 500x500 for square aspect ratio, and 640x480 in terms
of normal photos. In terms of logos I tend to think it should 'display' at about the same size as it would on a small enamled badge or cap patch, but this is ONLY a personal opinion. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:12, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- SVG is a vector format that allows for infinite expansion of vector images, yes. They still, however, have to rendered, and that is where NFCC comes in. I am downsizing the image. — neuro(talk) 11:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK, Have checked the ones I tagged, Apart from the VERY large one you mention, all have apparently been de-tagged.
Having asked in the Wikipedia IRC channel, I've been told that SVG logos should ideally be downsized to meet the Non free criteria used. However, as SVG is an inherently scalable format so a downsized image would only affect the raster presentation of it, not the underlying image.
As a guide, in respect of future conversions somewhere around 400x400 is perfectly reasonable in terms of the 'raster' presentation of a vector image.
On a more positive note, you might want to check my contributions, I am sure there are some raster logos/crests of football clubs that need conversion, something you seem VERY good at :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:29, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Your Logos Request
Hello, I told you earlier that I was going to hold your requests till June. The reason being is that I needed to update my Inkscape because the older version had issues with putting text on paths. I wasn't able to, so I unfortunately couldn't convert any. I have 4 done, but MediaWiki will not render the "rainbow text". If I convert to path, they misalign. It is a big mess with my stupid version, so your version will probably be better. Maybe request at GL if your versions still need fixing? ZooFari 23:06, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

I looked up in the policy section and I am wrong, you can delete from you own talk page. However it is considered bad form. Your talk page is an audit of your discussions and removing information especially warnings can leave future editors unaware of the discussion that you have had about a topic. In this instance removing the warning about removing speedy tags from your own articles. Paul Bradbury 18:24, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

- Hi, you don't seem to understand what I have done, I have not deleted the file, it is still there at File:Manchester City.svg I simply requested that the duplicate version you uploaded that does not contain the file history be deleted. You seem to not have read my message above. The issue is that you created a new version of the file and instead of uploading it as a revision you created a new file and requested deletion of the old file, this simply removes the edit history and is to be avoided. Your content is all still here and can be corrected if you think it is wrong (however despite my requests you have not indicated what is wrong). It has been a lot of work to correct the damage done by your edits across mulitple articles please try and be more careful in future. Also reply here instead of my talk page, I am watching this page and will respond back. Paul Bradbury 22:10, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but you've requested the new file (the duplicated version) for deletion (I wanted the original to be deleted instead). There is no other contributor for the file except for me, if the file has another author/contributor, so I would not opted for deletion. The mistakes with the current logo (that has been reverted by you) is that it contains many small mistakes that can only be seen when you zoom on it (especially on the Superbia in Praelia word). I am currenlty requesting for it to be corrected at WP:GL/I. Please, this matter has been solved. I don't want to hear anything concerning to it again. Hope for your understanding. Thank you Arteyu ? However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:56, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Png -> Svg
Please if you're going to make this type of change carry forward all the relevant category and other info from the original image. Thx. Wiggy! (talk) 12:49, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think so because i use different templates. You shouldn't copy the info from the PNG directly because the source and format is different. I also honestly don't think that you should remove the Template:SVG-Logo template from the file Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 19:00, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- It's not about the file being an svg vs. a png. The original template included info about the club, the file, the origin of the file and all the necessary non-free image use tags. It also categorized the image as a German football logo. After the change, much of that information was gone and the file was incorrectly tagged as being an English football logo. I note also that the white circle which is an background element of the Wolfsburg file is now missing, replaced by a transparency which means the logo can display improperly in some contexts.
- So why is this a big deal? There are policies and rules for the display of images on Wikipedia as I'm sure you're aware. What you did made the image non-compliant with those rules in some ways. I'm not a rule basher, but I've had enough run-ins with the sort that I try real hard to stick to the formula, to stay inside the rules and to avoid having to deal unnecessarily with the anti-image sorts. The non-free image use stuff supercedes tagging the image as an svg and bragging rights about who put the thing together.
- I am also not aware of any compelling reason to change the files into svgs. The recommendation to do that to logos is long disappeared from the related WP logo guideline. The use of svgs for the purpose is the subject of some ongoing debate related to limits of image resultion under NFCC. Its also just more baiting of the anti-image sorts in this context. <sigh> If you can point me to a clear policy on svg use and logos it would be helpful.
- That said if you enjoy svgs, great. But, please don't make a mess of the related file information when you make a change and don't place the images at risk for no good cause. This isn't just a simple technical issue related to image formats, but is tied in with a bunch of other stuff as I've outlined here. Thanks. Wiggy! (talk) 19:52, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

"Taken from Help Desk". The image is a logo, so {{logo fur}} is more appropriate, but {{Non-free media rationale}} (which redirects to {{non-free use rationale}}) is not egregiously wrong, however {{information}} is more often used for free images. The image is being used in two articles, so you must have a rationale for each article. You can also use {{non-free image data}} and multiple {{non-free image rationale}}. BTW: the use of this non-free image is probably not appropriate for Fußball-Bundesliga 2008–09#Champion Squad. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 20:50, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- And Wiggy!, try to take a look at the vfl wolfsburg official site, you can see that the PNG format of the logo is wrong, the white circle isn't there, the circle should be in transparent Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 08:01, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Map
Hi Arteyu,
I have managed to vectorise the outline of the land, and its borders without any problems. The tracing software keeps producing nasty-shape madness whenever I try to trace the roads, rivers, etc. I think I will have to trace them by hand, which will take a long time, as I don't have a graphics tablet any more. :D I will spend some more time on it tonight.--James Chenery (talk) 03:29, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- Great, thanks for your help pal. Take your time, do them as you please. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 06:07, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
My Adobe Illustrator demo has now expired, but I could download some of the free tools listed on wikipedia, if you need me to alter anything.
You can also post these SVGs up on the Graphic Lab request page, and ask one of the experienced guys to see if they can work a little magic on them, if you like. :D
Actually, I have just noticed that on wikipedia, the N of "George Town" is behind the location circle - Ack! Opening the file again in Illustrator shows the words in the correct place, so I assume it is due to the renderer that Firefox is using? I will leave George Town where it is, for now, in case trying to fix it breaks the image for other browsers.
Thanks for being patient, --James Chenery (talk) 15:50, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

- SVG/PNG – on copyrighted stuff, I believe that PNG is the better option. This is because an SVG can be scaled to whatever you like, meaning that you can easily reproduce from it and therefore infringe on copyright. On Wikipedia, we have to use a PNG to be able to claim it as Fair Use. You're a great guy, but on this occasion I'm afraid that both you and I were wrong. :( Best just to go along with it, if we make too much of a fuss we may get blacklisted – Cliftonianthe orangey bit 13:52, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

SVG and Fair USe
I'm not the best person to comment , and won't but some thoughts here anyway
- SVG can be rendered at any resoloution - Wikipedia chooses not to render fair-use SVG as hi-res., A user still has to download the SVG in order to get a hi-res version themselves. It could thus be argued that creation of the thus non-fair use image is NOT done by Wikipedia but by the downloader that re-generates it at hi-res.)
- Also Wikipedia makes plenty of warnings that an image isn't 'free' and certainly doesn't in terms of the context of use on wikipeida use an SVG fair use logo for commerical purposes. ( A downloader converting a 'fair-use' SVG would thus possibly be making thier own derivative, outside of 'fair-use' which could also be a copyvio.)
Other than that I don't fell I have enough knowledge to respond in the thread you pointed me at. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:58, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Arteyu, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you. And once again - Welcome! Ikip (talk) 11:39, 4 September 2009 (UTC) |

AfD nomination of Sharifah Sofia
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Sharifah Sofia. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sharifah Sofia. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:12, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Birthdates on CSI
PLEASE do not revert all these back. At best these are from websites that no longer exist...at worst, they are original research or have changed several times within the series. Anyway, we do not include birthdates in other shows - therefore, they shouldn't be here. By reverting them, you are encouraging those who like to make up info and try to turn Wikipedia into a fansite rather than an encyclopedic source. If you check the user who added all the birthdates, you will see they have a habit of questionable additions. So I ask you please not to put the birthdates back. Contents removal are not encouraged on Wikipedia but if you believe that the birthdates are self-made and can be challenged, you are more than welcome to remove them. Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 23:06, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- Apologies, Arteyu. I saw the revert on Sara Sidle and thought you might be reverting all of the ones I had removed. The only birthdate that is solid is Gil Grissom's, as it was part of a storyline. The rest of them are guesses on the part of people editing through a partial show reference. I am just so tired of seeing these. Right now, there is a small contingent that keeps changing Lindsay Monroe to Messer, based on her answering her cell phone as "Lindsay Messer" when her own husband was calling. So far, she has never been introduced that way, and CBS still has her listed as Monroe on the CSI:NY website. Anyway, I have been trying hard to keep Wikipedia from becoming a fan/gossip site - but I'm almost ready to give up as there are more people who would rather print fiction than fact. *sigh* I'll leave off on that now. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Trista 24.176.191.234 (talk) 23:33, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
- I am a big fan, but unfortunately do not get a chance to watch the latest shows unless I can find time to watch on the 'net - as I do not get CBS at home. We have DirectTV, but no local channels as I do not want to give up my NY/LA feeds of NBC. I enjoy the NY/LA newscasts very much, and if I opt for local channels, I will only be able to watch the Reno NBC affiliate, which stinks (around here we say their news slogan is "When news breaks, we fix it!"). So I have not seen any of this season of any of the shows yet. I have only had time to see a couple of the NCIS episodes on the Internet. Thanks for understanding my frustration. I'm just getting so tired of the vandals & twits who think Wikipedia is their own personal playground and do not understand what it is meant for. I have repeatedly said I would gladly give up my IP editing priveleges if Wikipedia would make everyone register with a valid e-mail address. I truly believe this would get rid of at least 3/4s of the vandalism. Take care, Trista 24.176.191.234 (talk) 00:08, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

BLP sticky PROD
Hi Arteyu/Archive 1!. Every attempt to rescue a Wikipedia article is a noble gesture. However, there may be occasions when, with the best will in the world, it is just not possible to accord even a minimum of notability to an article or stub, or find a proper source for it. Most regrettably, even the most dedicated inclusionists will have to concede that the article may have to go if the creator or major contributors cannot justify their work.
For new and recent unsourced BLPs, some users are now working at WT:BLP PROD TPL on the development of templates that are designed to encourage contributors to source new BLPs, without scaring away the newbies who might not be aware of the rules. This template is certainly not another a licence to kill for the deletionists, in fact the very idea of it is to ensure that you are not fighting a losing battle. It would be great if you could look in at the prgogress and maybe leave a word of encouragement. The workshop page is essentially a template development taskforce, and is not a place to engage in a hefty debate on incusion/deletion policy. See you at WT:BLP PROD TPL?--Kudpung (talk) 12:55, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

If you can address those (through discussion of course), then I would just like to re-examine the lede, and have one good read-through. Speak soon, Chzz ► 09:24, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Nicol David - promoted to a Good Article
I'm pleased to inform you that, following the GA review process, I have now changed Nicol David to a Good Article. Congratulations.
I encourage you to continue working on it - often, article quality can deteriorate over time; it is also important to keep things up to date.
Special thanks for being so prompt in your responses to issues raised during the review. I can only apologize that I was not so quick myself.
It was great to work with you; best wishes. Chzz ► 13:33, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Turkmenistani to Turkmen
Hi, dear Arteyu! There are some recent changes by Cydebot, for example (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category_talk:Turkmen_footballers&diff=prev&oldid=356582992). I don't know who instructed him/her to to that. Do you have idea when the rest will be moved to Turkmen? Someone who can delete can move that pages, categories etc. There are lots of Turkmenistani pages such as Category:Turkmenistani sportspeople stubs... Kind Regards --Hanberke (talk) 08:48, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
- I see that you created Category:Turkmen sportspeople stubs as a redirect to Category:Turkmenistani sportspeople stubs. Stub categories, however, are automatically populated by templates, such as {{Turkmenistan-sport-bio-stub}}. You need to make sure that any changes to a stub category are matched by corresponding changes to all relevant templates, otherwise you will end up with some pages in the new category and some in the old. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:21, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Aston Villa.svg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Aston Villa.svg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:16, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject Malaysia Update
Here's a brief update on the latest... :-
- I've transcluded the new members list to the prior existing members list. There's a redirect on the new members list page to the actual members list.
- I've compiled the list of feedback given here and placed them on a plan page. Please do go and take a look at them. For the suggestions to be carried out, we need volunteers. At the bottom of the plan page, there is a Volunteer section. Please add your name and include which area you would like to volunteer in.
If you have any questions or comments please leave them here. On behalf of WikiProject Malaysia, BejinhanTalk 09:46, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Thank you very much for signing up for the July Backlog Elimination Drive! The copyedit backlog stretches back two and a half years, all the way back to the beginning of 2008! We're really going to need all the help we can muster to get it down to a manageable number. We've ambitiously set a goal of clearing all of 2008 from the backlog this month. In order to do that, we're going to need more participants. Is there anyone that you can invite or ask to participate with you? If so, we're offering an award to the person who brings in the most referrals. Just notify ɳorɑfʈ Talk! or Diannaa TALK of who your referrals are. Once again, thanks for your support! --Diannaa TALK 14:48, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi! This message is just a friendly reminder that you signed up to participate in the GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive. I noticed that you haven't logged a single copy edit yet. GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Given the notability guidelines for tennis players there are now...
Hi there. Good to the see the new guidelines for tennis notability in place. It s likley not a pressing matter but I m wondering now how we should reconcile having wikilinks in place for players as listed on WP articles that are drawsheets for Challenger events (such as 2010 Challenger Banque Nationale de Granby – Singles) as well as pages presenting a year's ATP Challenger Tour calender (such as 2010 ATP Challenger Tour). Having wikilinks in place for players(' names) on these pages fully suggests that competitors in Challenger tourneys are WP notable, which is not true according to our new guidelines (as only titlests are). (I d still favour seeing Challenger quarterfinalists or better in singles and either finalists or semi-finalists or better in doubles be considered notable). Rather minor issues perhaps but ones that need to be tidied up ultimately, surely. Mayumashu (talk) 01:24, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, the was a definite lack of interest shown. I ve never been involved in the wikiproject for tennis (or for anything for that matter - prefer to work on WP independently - real life requires enough towing lines and following others that ultimately doesnt lead to anything that significant other than getting the next pay cheque). The main thing is for me is I don t see there being with the WP tennis bios, likewise because of the lack of interest, too many tennis player bios being deleted either, at least any time soon. This is something that can be revisited in a year or two and reconsidered, it seems say to say. And most players who compete regularly in challengers have competed in at least one ATP Tour event main draw - the prominent challenger level players bios are safe as the guidelines stand, arent they. Good chatting and have a good one, Mayumashu (talk) 15:06, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
