Taking liberties with speedy deletion
Anthony, in what way was this appropriate? Under which CSD criterion would you have deleted it? Even if A7 were applicable to books, does it not assert plenty of notability on its very cover? If I had seen this at the time of your RfA, I would not have supported. - crz crztalk 14:43, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I would not have deleted it. Since I do not yet have power to delete, I felt it safe to mark it and let someone else decide. There are so many routine novels. Anthony Appleyard 15:49, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi. I have removed the "Hurdygurdy" reference in the above article. It is irrelevant what the (no-longer present) US soldiers called the town. This info is probably better presented in the Naval Air Station Keflavik article, if at all. Please leave a message on my talk page if you want to discuss this further. But if you have any other information to add to the article, feel free! Apologies for the misplaced signature also...Pikiwedian 15:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
Hi, fair enough you were tired, so what you put is valid as opposed to the sarcastic comment it looked like, but please don't delete the history of the discussion. I guess you're in the same position as me, the article is blatently all good, but there's no sources cited for any of the claims. Any idea where to start with sources for it? --RedHillian 17:45, 8 January 2007 (UTC) (also in the UK).
As you've done some editting of this entry I'd value your input on the transwikying and deletion process - see the talk page for discussion. (Emperor 02:13, 9 January 2007 (UTC))
JasperReports
- Hi, I completely missed this Afd due to holiday festivities. I see that during the Afd you removed the advertising language, and I was wondering if you would be able to do the same to User:Jayvdb/Saved pages/JasperReports, a copy of I have restored from the google cache. John Vandenberg 10:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Since then, User:Jayvdb has worked on User:Jayvdb/Saved pages/JasperReports, including putting many references in: this should settle the WP:V query; and I feel that I should wait until he has finished his work on it. Anthony Appleyard 11:05, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Industrial breathing sets category
Hi, is the category for articles related to industrial breathing sets or just for makes (brand names) of industrial breathing sets? Of the 10 other articles in that category 5 of them aren't makes, and I'm unclear why mine rescue and Gas Control Equipment Ltd should be separated out from being alphabetized if the others are not. If we did separate everything that wasn't a make, that would leave only 5 of the 12 articles alphabetized. This isn't important to me one way or the other, I'm just curious and don't know of any Wikipedia style policies one way or the other. Dragomiloff 12:34, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out. Category:Rebreathers has 20 members which are types of rebreather and 5 which are not, and I separated them. Category:Industrial breathing sets seems to have less % of members which are types of rebreather, I have now put all its members back into alphabetical order. Falklands War
- I had just removed some of the content over to that article yesterday; its over 90kb long, and it was recommended in the peer review that the article be split off. Any chance you can revert it back and get rid of the redirect? RHB 14:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- User:SqueakBox wanted Falklands War Argentine surrender merging to Falklands War. so I followed his wishes. See Talk:Falklands War Argentine surrender, and http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Falklands_War_Argentine_surrender&action=history . I have left a message in User talk:SqueakBox asking User:SqueakBox to look here, so this can be discussed. I did not know of the peer review: please what link is it at? Anthony Appleyard 18:00, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- The peer review is here - Wikipedia:Peer review/Falklands War/archive1. I would say much of the article needs to be split off as it is, and it looked like a section it was possible with - 85KB when it was the peer review, but 94KB or so now. RHB 18:14, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- The article was already becoming a focus of contention for more genralised naming issues, it also seems that we could do better in terms of splitting off a section, though personally I think 94KB is pretty small, anyway I see their is contention so I will reflect a bit before seeing if an afd would be appropraite. For your information, the WikiProject Cricket is establishing a season review article for every first-class season worldwide. A summary of trophy winners is okay as a quick lookup but there is a need for detailed information per season. At present, we are concentrating on getting the articles in place and the best way to do that in a reasonable time is by creating "lookalike" stubs that can easily be copied and pasted; the next phase (which is already underway re England) is to expand the stubs and provide the details. The English seasons to 1787 are no longer stubs, we intend to enlarge all the others also but it will take several months to do it. --BlackJack | talk page 10:10, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- I cannot see any future use for this article. I doubt if anyone would wish to expand it especially as we already have lists of trophy winners. Would you please Afd it? --BlackJack | talk page 10:37, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Image:Dumper_workman_2of.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dumper_workman_2of.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NMajdan•talk 18:04, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Pillar valves
That was why I added the disclaimer. Far be it from me to want to make the whole world pronouce fractured (and sometimes ugly) American English. But the reason I ask is that we always say PIE-lar here, accent on first syllable. Not like piler (like one who makes piles), or pillar (the support column). How do you say it in the UK? SBHarris 22:08, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Here in England I have always heard "pillar valve" pronounced as "pill" + unstressed "-er", same as a pillar which is part of a building. Anthony Appleyard 22:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting. Thanks. SBHarris 22:37, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi Anthony
I just noticed that you've created a list of places in Kreis Schleswig-Flensburg copied from a different Wikipedia. Please don't add links to other wikipedias directly in article space. If you wish to make lists of interwiki links, please do it on the talk page of the article in question. In some cases, this will mean that this wikipedia will only link to a non-existing (redlink) article, but this is how the system works. On the other hand, a redlink will make others notice that an article is missing here, and it will hopefully lead to its creation. Most of the readers of this website can't read either German or Danish anyway, so they have no use for any such links. I also noticed that you add links from article space to images on other websites. If you wish to include images here, you need to upload them images to either this Wikipedia or to Commons and add the correct image license. Alternatively, you can make a link to them under the "external links" section or you can link to such material from the article's talk page. However, in actual article space, we're only allowed to use images on Wikipedia's own servers. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 16:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
-lev
-lev is a very old and common ending in Danish placenames. It is at least 1,000 years old. The first syllable is normally but not always a man's name and -lev is derived from the verb "leve" which means to "live". E.g. Haderslev = "where Hathar lives", Marslev = "where Mar lives" (in both cases, the "S" is a genitive). Hartlev = "where life is tough" (in German, this name would have been "Hartleben"), Haslev = "where hazel grows" (Hassel = hazel). Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 17:51, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Schleswig
It will take a little time but I'll try to look for answers to your questions, but I can start with those that I know of for sure:
- Mysunde. Mysunde is located on the north side of Schwansen, near a very narrow part of the Schlei. Any army wishing to outflank the Dannevirke would have to cross the Schlei here. Outflanking it to the west would not be possible under normal conditions since the area between Husum and the western extremity of the Dannevirke was marsh land which was flooded in times of war. Mysunde is located on the road between Kosel and Brodersby. See [1]. It is located in the north-western part of Kosel municipality, see a location map of the municipality at de:Kosel. If you read German, there is a bit more information here: [2], click "Die Gemeinden" and click "Kosel". The same location was the scene of battles during several wars.
- Railways. The Danish railway network was still in its infancy in 1864. North of the Kongeå, only a rail link between Copenhagen and Korsør existed as well as a railway from Århus leading to the north west. Had the Dannevirke been held, potential reinforcements from Copenhagen would have been transported by rail to Korsør and sailed the rest of the way to Flensburg. Such an operation would take a maximum of 2-3 days. The railway network in the duchies was much better: railways linked Hamburg, Kiel, Altona and the city of Schleswig. Less than 10 years before the war, railways opened from Eiderstedt and Husum to the city of Schleswig and from Schleswig to Flensburg. The duchies had no railways north of this point. More interesting is that the railway was never properly used during the evacuation of the Dannevirke with the result that great amounts of artillery, most importantly heavy artillery, were left behind by the Danish army. One explanation is that this was done so the Prussian army wouldn't notice the retreat. A more popular story claims that a waiting train had been instructed to head north at a specific time, which it did, but that the army had not yet arrived to the station due to heavy snow. The equipment transported to Dybbøl was essentially pulled there by soldiers and horses during very poor conditions, as the weather had changed to a snow storm. An iconic image exists of this retreat, and I'll upload a copy one of the days. The city of Schleswig, Flensburg, Sønderborg and Dybbøl were all connected by a road paved with crushed rock and this was the route the army took. The same road continued from Flensburg to Fredericia and Århus and this was the route later taken by the Prussian army when it invaded Jutland. The Dannevirke was abandoned at the orders of the commander, Christian de Meza, who feared that the poorly-repaired fortress couldn't hold out against a bigger foe. Even more so as the Schlei and the wetlands west of the Dannevirke were freezing. His calculations might have been correct, but the decision was not popular, and it is still considered almost a miracle that the army wasn't destroyed when the weather changed for the worse so the army had to march most of the way through a snowstorm. Except for the artillery, it arrived almost in one piece at Dybbøl. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 13:36, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Anthony. Unfortunately I can't find any really good sources regarding your questions about Arnæs and the thaw of 1864. As I remember the story, thaw came soon after the army's withdrawal to Dybbøl, but I haven't a good source at hand. Sorry. Around 600 men were caught or killed in action during the retreat and 10 men died of freezing. A number of Schleswigers left the army during the withdrawal, but according to one soldier, most of these returned in less than a day. [3]Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 20:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Sprevjane
Recently, there have been problems with an anonymous editor adding sometimes spurious, sometimes POV and counterfactual information to articles on Old Prussia, and I decided to examine the his other edits to see if he was making similar edits to other articles; in doing so, I noticed that he took the entry Sprevjane and moved it to Sprewanen. As you recently edited the Sprevjane article, I thought I'd give you a heads up. The edit may reflect a German POV on the part of the contributor, who also added unreferenced etymological information (most likely folk etymology) linking Spevjane to Spree-wohner. You may wish to move the article back, or simply cite/clean up the etymological information. ---- Beobach972 01:56, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Primary Life Support System
Again, I have removed several of your changes, this time to Primary Life Support System. Firstly, according to the manual of style, prose is preferable to lists where possible. In addition, you removed important text and made the quality of the writing frankly poorer. I really recommend that you take some time to carefully look over the manual of style and its subpages, and read Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles before arbitrarily changing articles around for the worse. Not only have I had to correct numerous innaccuracies, wording problems, and style deviations from you on several articles, but I have read several complaints about your editing style from other editors. If you want to contibute helpfully to the project, you should consider taking this as constructive criticism, read over the relevant policies, and try to edit more carefully and deliberatively in the future. — Swpb talk contribs 18:19, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

- A recent admin candidate, in responding to questions during RfA, cited you as an example of a user who was difficult to deal with. This was several weeks ago, I can't find the question today. But for the most part, I was referring to the messages on your own talk pages, which presumably you have read, many of which express confusion and frustration with your edits, as well as the work I have done on Space suit and Spacesuits in fiction cleaning up your problematic edits. I don't mean to attack you, but I think you really should consider editing more carefully and discussing changes before you make them. — Swpb talk contribs 22:37, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Gas chamber
Hello.
I can't understand or believe that you would call my adding fact tags to the Gas Chamber article a type of holocaust denial. I find this very offensive. I add fact tags to many articles, and nobody has ever tried to skirt WP:CITE in such an irresponsible and childish way.
I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but you don't just throw around an accusation like that, especially when someone is going through pages trying to help by adding fact tags where appropriate and the article is in flagrant violation of WP:CITE.
I didn't consider that these fact tags could construed as controversial, and I was not thinking of them in the context of the holocaust denial debate. I was simply adding tags where settled policy says they belong.
I don't know if you are actively involved in the holocaust history issue - it's not a main area of study for me. If you are, I would suggest that you take a more reasonable approach when dealing with people, like myself, who have not looked into the issue. While I know enough about the documentation and study of the holocaust to know that it obviously occurred, I am startled by the level of aggression you have displayed in this instance and I fear it may provide ammunition for the very people whose deceits you seek to mitigate or eliminate from WikiPedia.
Good day. RadicalHarmony 22:55, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I was not calling this {{fact}} comment a type of holocaust denial. My edit comment "(rv ... a totally unnecessary "{{fact}}" tag.)" merely meant that so many people know about the Holocaust that surely a reference is not needed. Simiarly with "(rv deletion of a sentence that I put in to counter Holocaust-denial-type queries)". As it is, I have put in a link to Yad Vashem's web site as a fact link. AA, do you have any references for "pah" as an alternate spelling for "pā"? I was cleaning up the mess of two disambiguation pages for "PAH" [with and without the (disambiguation)], when we edit-collided. I put your addition in an invisible comment, for now. License tagging for Image:Aa gully emptier 01 rear end.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Aa gully emptier 01 rear end.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Dumpers
- AA, I seem to have reverted your reversion to the disambiguation page. I had forgotten that I had already changed it once. However I think there is a difference between simplification and 'dumbing down', and my initial changes were not made without thought. I would suggest: up to 10 tonnes is not that 'small'; 'one-man' is irrelevant to a disambiguation page entry, which needs to be give as brief a description as will suffice for the purpose of disambiguation; not all dumpers are diesel powered and anyway that is also unnecessary detail; and the final 'around' is also superfluous and not, if I may be so bold, terribly good English. In so far as it may be relevant, I happen to have 40 years experience of construction plant. Bill F 23:42, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- "up to 10 tonnes is not that 'small'": vehicles called "dumpers" (rather than "dump trucks") that I have seen here in England do not go up to the 10-ton range.
- "not all dumpers are diesel powered": OK, I have inserted "usually".
- "one-man" eliminates vehicles designed to carry one or more passengers.
- "off-road vehicle designed for carrying bulk material" in my opinion is by itself not specific enough.
- "I happen to have 40 years experience of construction plant": which country in? We again seem to have run into UK/USA differences in word meanings and in work practices. I am in England.
Anthony Appleyard 07:29, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- "10 tonne": You have not been looking hard enough. Please see the Thwaites [[4]] website, to which the main article refers.
- On the next two points, the question is whether this level of detail is needed to distinguish this usage of 'dumper' from all the other usages of the word, not whether it is necessary to a complete dictionary definition. I refer you to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(disambiguation_pages)#Individual_entries See the penultimate bullet point before section 5.1.
- What entitles you to assume I am in the USA? A Check on my user page would have revealed that I am in England too. Does my English read like an American's? Bill F 19:09, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Meerkat Manor
Hi Anthony, I didn't delete your summary points of the 3rd season thus far....not sure if someone did, based on your comment? In any case, while I agree that other news sites and websites may have reported on some of these things, people may be coming to Wikipedia as a resource, so to be fair, information about unseen episodes should be between spoiler tags - and right now, the article does indeed have spoiler tags. I did delete an earlier mention of Flower's death that was placed in that lead information area, which was NOT within the spoiler tags. NickBurns 02:15, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Whips and crops
I'll go over to the article and try to clarify what I wrote. I don't think it's a USA vs UK thing so much as a riding discipline thing: In the US, a "crop" is usually used for what we call Hunt seat riding and show jumping. It is short (under 24" in some cases), fairly stiff, and has a little popper on the end. A similar tool is used by jockeys in horse racing where the words "crop", "whip" and "bat" are used interchangably for the same item, possibly a regional variation there. Rodeo people call their crops a "bat." A "whip" is longer, what may be seen in Dressage or Saddle seat riding, up to 43" in dressage, longer in other disciplines. It also probably isn't all that cosmically important! ;-) Montanabw 07:11, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
I do think "bat" as a word interchangable with "crop" is possibly an American thing; we too normally consider a "bat" the wooden stick used in baseball or cricket! <grin> But then, most people think a "crop" is somethig that you grow in the ground for food, too! But basically, in the world of horse whips, think of a crop as a short whip or about 24 inches, or think of a whip as a slightly longer, more flexible crop, whatever floats your boat...everyone says "dressage whip," for example, referring to the riding whip that is no more than 43 inches long; no one says "dressage crop." Hope that clarifies things, sort of... Montanabw 07:42, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Radio Times table
I notice you have revised the 'wikitable'-class table I recently created on the Radio Times page to include cell-spacing, border, and background colour variables. While the former table conveniently adjusted its size according to browser and screen resolution, the new table looks (to be brutally honest) ugly in both Internet Explorer and Firefox, leaving a large space above.
Having studied WP:TABLE and related pages carefully, I know of no guidelines which suggest the original layout was incorrect. If I am wrong, please correct me on my talk page, but for now I have reverted your edits, if only for æsthetic reasons.
Many thanks for your time - Silver Nemesis 15:00, 8 April 2007 (UTC).

Alloy and Alloyer
Anthony, technically your example would be correct, if pure niobium were added to steel, since niobium is a pure element, and an alloy (noun) is "a metal that is a combination of two or more elements, at least one of which is a metal.", you would be adding an element to the molten metal. In a practical usage one would not add niobium to steel in a ladle because the melting point is so high for niobium that the tapping temperature of steel would not be great enough to create the new alloy (i.e. niobium containing steel). One would use ferroniobium. Ironically in actuality the steel itself is an alloy so the niobium addition you describe would be adding another element to an alloy to create a new alloy.
In my metallurgical foundry background I tried to think of an example where a pure metal, or element, might be added to a molten metal. The one that comes to mind is adding copper (say 99.9% pure) to ductile iron or gray iron (both of which, like steel, are alloys themselves). In practice we would say "add copper to that ladle" but we would not say "add copper alloy" to that ladle. On the other hand, if one wanted to add chromium to the same ladle we would use ferrochromium (which is an alloy) but we might say either "add chrome to that ladle" or "add ferrochrome to that ladle". I have seen and heard the term "add alloy(s) to the ladle" but I have not ever seen or heard "add alloyer to the ladle". It looked unusual to me. However, my experience is in America only so if that expression is more common in other english speaking areas of the world let me know because I would be interested in learning that. Re: School vandalism, broken redirects
In the case of the school where most of its edits have been vandalism, if there's a decent sized block log, then it can actually be blocked for 6 months so ong as the schoolblock template is used, as evident here: (status) 11:13, April 20, 2007 WJBscribe (Talk | contribs | block) blocked "152.53.14.162 (contribs)" (anon. only, account creation blocked) with an expiry time of 6 months ({{schoolblock}}) (Unblock) As for the broken redirects, I've never actually experienced them before so your guess is as good as mine. I'd say that if there's a proper page to redirect it to then have it redirect there, otherwise either delete the redirect or delete the page if that was its only use.--Wizardman 17:43, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

taxonomy stubs
Anthony, for plant subfamilies and other intermediate group, I think the usual practice is that the stubs can remain indefinitely, because they function as placeholders while additional work is being done of the individual genera or species. I therefore removed your prod. I cannot tell if you meant to place an AfD, so I removed the partial template. If you did mean to place it, I apologize; just do so again, but it might help if you checked the nature of other similar articles first.

Image:Andalusier - Vorführung spanischer Rassen6.jpg
- Hey Anthony, I didn't speedy Image:Andalusier - Vorführung spanischer Rassen6.jpg because it was a missing or corrupt image, I speedied it because, besides the {{nowcommons}} which would result in it being deleted anyways, it was an "empty (i.e., no content) image description pages for Commons images." Would you reconsider the speedy? --Iamunknown 19:49, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- At 16:39, 25 April 2007 I unspeedied Image:Andalusier - Vorführung spanischer Rassen6.jpg with the edit comment "(Was speedied "corrupt image", but it looks OK to me)".
- It was speedied db-i2 at 09:37, 25 April 2007 by User:Iamunknown.
- Anthony Appleyard 19:55, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- I did tag the image with {{db-i2}} because WP:CSD#I2 specifies that the following may be speedy deleted: "Corrupt or empty image. Before deleting this type of image, verify that the MediaWiki engine cannot read it by previewing a resized thumbnail of it. This also includes empty (i.e., no content) image description pages for Commons images." The image description page is, save the for the inclusion of {{nowcommons}}, an empty image description page of an image at the Wikimedia Commons and, according to this criterion, may be speedy deleted. Am I misunderstanding the criterion? --Iamunknown 22:16, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
I am wondering why did you delete my article 'Cor Ban Chuil Aodha'?

I would appreciate if this article could remain on Wikipedia. We are recording with the BBC tonight and have 2 cds for sale. We are getting there!

Deletion of "ShareASale" article on 4/25/2007
Hi Anthony,
I just noticed that you deleted the article for the affiliate network called ShareASale on 4/25/2007 (see deletion log). You entered as reasons "timed-expired prod: Nn web space sales agency; spam?". The site is up see [12]. Although I have my doubts that the site was down very long (if down at all), would I like to know if and how you checked that it is really the site that is down and not some other problem (DNS, your ISP etc.) that caused your inability to access the site. I am saying this, because several thousand people (if not more) around the globe would notice if the site is down and start screaming and yelling, because it would cause them problems as well. The article about the company is certainly no spam, although it had a lot of room for improvement. I am not sure, but I believe it was still flagged as stub. WP:N is not in question here I believe, but we can discuss this as well, in a WP:AFD discussion, if you feel the need to flag the article as such, after it was restored.
Please restore the article a.s.a.p. Thank you. --roy<sac> Talk! .oOo. 10:24, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Snowball Earth - Potential Good Article?
Hi,
I'm currently working, with others, on the article Snowball Earth, with the aim of restoring it to Good Article status.
I noticed that you've hept a watchful eye on the article in the past, and there's quite a bit that could be done to make a large improvement, so I was wondering whether you might be interested in helping out? I've knocked together a 'wish-list' of what the article could to with which you can view on the article talk page; if you're keen to address any of those points, or make any other improvements, it would be much appreciated! I'll be working through them myself as much as my busy schedule allows. Hope to see you there!
Thanks,

Your deletion: Biblical Prophecy Fulfilled?
Please explain why since I found related articles on Wikipedia very negatively biased in terms of religion. If I was proselytizing, articles like Evidence of prophecy, which there seems to be no complaints about are doing the same - except opposite i.e. the bible is a fairytale. Which parts of my article are non-objective so that I can correct it if so? If the items mentioned are not properly motivated that's a different story. I expected some edits, but a spam-equivalent deletion !!??
"Of course, an article can report objectively about such things, as long as an attempt is made to approach a neutral point of view."
This is very upsetting. JLMarais 22:30, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi, I must insist that you first perform a check of the users contributions and check to see how long a user has edited before even considering filing a report at WP:RFC/N, if an account hasn't edited, ignore it. If you then feel the user still needs to change their username, you MUST follow the policy as set out here which involves you asking the user to change their username. If and only if they refuse and fail to provide a good reason for not changing their username, do you file a report at WP:RFC/N. The behaviour you have shown in reporting Ihcoyc (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) is very worrying, and if this behaviour were to be repeated with a new user, there is a very good that this user may never or cease to edit Wikipedia. It is for these reasons, if you fail to follow this process, you will be blocked for disruption and/or gross incivility. Thanks -- Nick t 18:49, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmmm, a bit harsh Nick? --Ryan Postlethwaite 18:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly, but the totally incorrect reports to RFC/N need to stop. Reporting an admin would be funny were it not happening exactly the same way with newbies who don't understand the whole process. I'll strike out the possibility of blocking anyone for making inaccurate username reports at this time. -- Nick t 21:23, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Sticks Research Agency
Hi Anthony
I notice that you have deleted Sticks Research Agency.
I do not represent the owner of SRA, although I do know him. I am not in any COI and do not have ANY commercial interest in the company. Please let me know wht I can do to make the entry acceptable to you. I really don't mind making changes where you deem necessary. I believe that the company is notable, as it is the only broadcast research history company of its kind. Nick Barratt is also a big name in history circles and has presented many programmes on family history.
Thanks ;)

- It was speedy-delete-tagged {{db-spam}} by another user, and I found it in a for-speedy-deletion category. The trouble is, that it is worded like an advertisement, even if it not intended as an advertisement. Recent edits to Yahweh
What happened? It looked like you were headed down a track of moving Jehovah stuff to Jehovah and Yahweh stuff to Yahweh and then you self-reverted saying you wanted to rethink what you were doing.
Would you post your concerns and your thinking to Talk:Jehovah so that we can all help hash it out? You haven't addressed the proposals that I have made on that Talk Page. I think it would be better for us to agree on a consensus framework before making huge changes. --Richard 22:57, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks. I have put the links right. Anthony Appleyard 08:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Good. Improvements. I disagree with a few details, but will wait a little - perhaps you are still working on Yahweh.
- In "but use "Adonai" ("My Lords"): the plural likely refers to Elohim": what authority you refer to for the "likely"? Also, this comment is not important enough to be in the summary, it clutters the text there. Maybe there could be a very short section "Adonai and Elohim" commenting on the forms (plural in form but used with a verb in singular).213.84.53.62 20:27, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Polish and Welsh forms should be deleted, they are not meaningful in this context and only invite others to add French Seigneur, etc. etc.
- I am tempted to delete "and became well established in Christian usage" again. This is true only in certain English-speaking regions, but Christians are found all over the world, and in most places Jehovah is associated only with Jehovah's Witnesses.
- Jehovah in Christian usage: for example a well-known hymn that starts "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah". :Anthony Appleyard 06:42, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- As I said, English-speaking. I think such hymns would be more difficult to find e.g. in French and German.
- J/Y: let me partially withdraw my comments and instead only object to the part "The English practice of transcribing yod as "j" started when in late Latin..." - there was a change in pronunciation, but the present text suggests that there also was a change in transcription. 213.84.53.62 13:12, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sandhi - funny, correct of course, but why use linguistic jargon in such an article? Right now this part seems to have vanished completely. But it is important information - there is a lot of talking and only few facts, and these sandhi effects belong to the facts, there is no harm giving them in detail.
- The Greek forms are now given in a table. Maybe not an improvement, it makes it more difficult to comment on forms.
- The section on spellings in Clement is far too long. The standard manuscript (Codex L) has Iαου, a catena in Turin has ιαουε, some unknown ms is said to have Iαουαι. A single sentence suffices, and this can be merged into the Greek section above.
213.84.53.62 16:24, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Are you going to move stuff to Tetragrammaton? Waiting to see whether there is further discussion?
- I will think about it. I have been visiting places (e.g. a falconry show) the last few days. But first we better discuss which sections of page Yahweh to move to page Tetragrammaton. Most of page Yahweh seems to be about the linguistics and usage of the name one way and another, and not much about the nature of the god so named. Anthony Appleyard 16:46, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Have you moved on to other things? I think there was a proposal for the move, and there were no objections.213.84.53.62 08:57, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

", as the nature of their pens put a lower limit to the size of legible writing, and thus there was not room to write those vowels on the Qere in the margin" - apocryphal? See http://online.biblia.pl/rozdzial.php?id=222&werset=21#W21 .)
"The original Hebrew pronunciation" - POV, completely inadmissable to write something like that as one of the first sentences in the summary. After doing your edit work you should be aware of the fact that "Yahweh" is a good guess, based on rather meagre evidence, certainly not "the Truth". But for a reasonable guess one cannot start describing details of the pronunciation.
BTW, if you describe a pronunciation, it is better, and I think WP standard, to do so in IPA. Concerning the actual pronunciation in the English-speaking world, no doubt it varies, but so far I have not yet heard your "Yar way" version. I usually hear a spelling pronunciation of "Yahweh". Checking some dictionaries, none that I checked showed your pronunciation. 213.84.53.62 11:12, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Ha, you reacted to this last remark, but not to the one before that. You taught me to strike out, let me try. Yes, that works. But now concerning the pronunciation: really, that belongs much farther down, and phrased much more cautiously. You write "In the original Hebrew pronunciation both vowels were short, the first H was pronounced as a consonant, and the final H was silent". Now such a sentence presupposes that Yahweh is the actually correct reading, which is not current consensus. It is only the most popular under the proposed readings. So, one can at most write "In the conjectured original Hebrew pronunciation". And writing such conjectural stuff even before explaining what the four consonants are is bad style. Next, I think that your actual description would be open to discussion. If the final he is mater lectionis then at least with masoretic conventions that would with certainty indicate that the preceding vowel is long - there are counterexamples in the Dead Sea scrolls, but I wonder on what grounds you infer that the segol must be short here. (Also, on what grounds the first he is a consonant, while still having a shwa quiescens, and not, say, hatef patah.) I will not revert immediately, that would be too unfriendly, but the present text cannot stay. 213.84.53.62 13:20, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello. I leave you this message to request an explenation for why you refused to delete the Richard Bradshaw article. I don't think a single, unreferenced sentence providing no important information or context qualifies as a stub, since Wikipedia:Stub says, "A stub is an article containing only a few sentences of text which is too short to provide encyclopedic coverage of a subject, but not so short as to provide no useful information," the keywords being "few sentences". If you can provide an explenation for your actions, I will happily accept them. Yours truly, BoricuaeddieTalk • Contribs • Spread the love! 21:24, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Manchester
Please could I ask why you reverted the edit I made regarding Manchester, I clearly stated that I inserted the table but now seems useless since there is alot more to Manchester than just the South of it, if we did a section every village/towns in Manchester then we would have to create another article for it. Besides it seems that other editors are keen to edit out as much as they can out of the article due to it enduring length, as shown in the template at the top of the page. Regards. R_Orange 12:54, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm sure they seem important to you, but since they no longer substitute as a worthy piece of information on the page, there existence is pointless. The page is clearly over-written and needs cropping, so wouldn't this removal be an effective way of doing so? R_Orange 18:35, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
- South is the only way that the City of Manchester extends away from its central area to the countryside around. That is why there is a village list for south Manchester only. The other directions are occupied by Trafford, Stockport, Salford, etc. Anthony Appleyard 22:36, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Y had been cut-and-pasted to X in Sept 2006, so I cut-and-pasted back from X to Y to make the move. But that still left a slice of Y's history in X, so I had to do some delete / undelete / move shuffling to mate up all the history of Y, and lose from Y's history the time while it had been a redir file and simultaneously its proper text was in X being edited. Mindfuck
Just in case you're curious (you did wonder aloud), to the best of my knowledge there is no cleaner synonym. The slightly authoritative TV Tropes Wiki calls it a mindscrew, but admits that that's a bowlderization.
It's more of an adjective than a noun, anyway; a secondary quality rather than a technique. Fight Club and Slaughterhouse Five, for instance, are primarily about their anti-consumerism and anti-war messages. Very few works, with the exception of the movie version of Revolutionary Girl Utena, deliberately set out to mess with the audience first and foremost. --Kizor 19:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet
You recently moved Bombardier CRJ family to Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet per an "Uncontroversial move request". Howeever, it should have been listed as "Controversial", as I opposed it on the article's talk page. The move request was so badly done that I did not think to check to see where it was listed. I reverted it before I discovered in had been moved as "Uncontroversial". At this point, it shoild eitehr be listed properly, or you revert my reversion, and I will formally request it be moved either to bact to Bombardier CRJ family or a new move to Bombardier CRJ, depending on consensus. There was no malice intedned in my reversion, just a desire to see the process through. Thanks, and I'm sorry for being confused. - BillCJ 06:51, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- It was listed in Wikipedia:Requested_moves at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Requested_moves&oldid=130467492#Uncontroversial_proposals as "Bombardier CRJ family → Bombardier Canadair Regional Jet - Simple. Bloomsday
It's very well noted by literary folk. All the other meanings, to my knowledge, on the disambiguation page are derivatives of "Bloomsday", which was the original page. It is not necessary that everyone must have heard of the event, as it is particularly a Dublin event in commemoration of James Joyce and his book Ulysses. Gold♣heart 12:34, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

BlueTie
- Why did you delete the BlueTie page. I specifically wrote on the talk page of the article that I was looking for some guidance as to why you people are so against the page. The page is no different than that of similar companies such as Zimbra and Google. All that I asked is that you TELL me what the problem was and it would be immediately revised or removed. BlueTie is a prominent company in the Sofware as a Service industry and the article again is not intended for promotional purposes or advertising. I thought it would be nice to get involved with wikipedia but I am starting to think that wikipedia is more of a censored outlet rather than an accurate one. Your feedback on my talk page would be much appreciated. Jolynn0906 20:07, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Nick Toons 2
I note you've contested the speedy on Nick Toons 2 - how come? The Nick Toons website makes no mention of this channel, the sole "reference" is to a posting on a message board that doesn't in fact mention this channel once (There's a - single - reference to "Nick Toons +1" on the message board, but that would just be a one-hour timeshifted rebroadcast, not a separate station). There are 0 Ghits aside from Wikipedia and a single forum post "As 'NickToons' is doing well in the ratings, perhaps Nickelodeon will look at launching 'NickToons +1' or 'NickToons 2'?". What is there to salvage? If you insist it doesn't qualify as {{db-context}} I can take it to AfD, but there's no possibility it will survive in the circumstances, especially given that it's been up for well over two months with no improvement — iridescenti (talk to me!) 16:59, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Anthony, I saw you just deleted a page Eleanor Bennett and was wondering if you could do me a favour. The page was created by one of my friends as a joke which I'm not impressed about and I'd like to see what it says as the subject is, unfortunately, me. Could you possibly paste a copy into a subpage of my userspace under User:Farosdaughter/Ellie or something? I'll tag it for speedy as soon as I've seen it of course. Notability of Healthways (scuba gear company)
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Healthways (scuba gear company), by Nuttah68 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Healthways (scuba gear company) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Healthways (scuba gear company), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 10:43, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi there. I tagged the page with {{db-vandalism}} based on the creator, one of the numerous socks of Graham Heavy (talk · contribs). You're right though, there is a stub worth of real material there. But 2/3 of the article was vandalism (which I've now removed). Since you're from the area, would you be able to look at a couple of pages that get frequently vandalised by Mr. Heavy and socks to see if any of the crap that they're adding is real? They're all viewable from the contribs to the latest sock User:Murphy... I'm a mess.... [18]. Cheers, Flyguy649talkcontribs 20:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, the real page is Bare, Morecambe. All the history at Bare, Lancashire is generally creation by socks and reversion by others. The pages should probably be merged. Cheers, Flyguy649talkcontribs 20:50, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Bare and Torrisholme and Morecambe all exist. Anthony Appleyard 20:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I realise they all exist. It's just that some of the changes by these socks are obvious vandalism (anything to do with Moonbobs and Sally Boseman), some are questionable, and some are probably ok. However, all of their contributions with respect to these pages have been treated as vandalism and reverted by myself and others. As well, I looked at both the Bare pages (Bare, Lancashire and Bare, Morecambe) and both were created by one of the socks, and have essentially the same current content. Of course you added links to one of them. A merge would probably be a good idea... do you agree? Cheers, Flyguy649talkcontribs 02:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Why did you delete Shovel Bird?
Why did you delete Shovel Bird? It's really a real thing that people enjoy to do and watch in the great state of IOWA. YOU might not have heard of it, because it was only on the local news and not California news. Iowa was a state before California, so I think we have a little credibility here. But, really. I want to share the great sport of Shovel Bird with your wikipedia. There's a whole WIKI of people that like this sport! There were dozens of people at the tournament and it was ON THE NEWS. I heard Iowa State University is starting a team. Why do you dash my dreams? I thought this environment would help me spread the word. Do you want me to send you the newspaper aricle? Give me your address and I will send it to you in the mail.
In conclusion, Shovel Bird is a game where two men dig a hole. Then one man releases a dove and the other man tries to hit the dove with a shovelful of dirt. Then, the dove gets hit by dirt and falls in the hole. Then they bury bird. Then the shovel guy (shovel birder) won! 06:51, 26 May 2007 User:Gscut

- Look what has happened. I submitted a page which is clearly GFDL and said so in my talk page. The page was flagged and deleted. I resubmitted and stated very clearly on the first line that it was GFDL. Someone edited the page and placed that statement on the bottom of the page and the link was not copied correctly. It was flagged. I added (hangon) but it was deleted again. Now anyone looking at my history or talk page with think that I am a copyright violator, because no one will read the talk page carefully. Our Club
- I wish you had not been quite so speedy in deleting "Our Club" from Wikipedia. I last checked Wikipedia Saturday before leaving for the left coast Sunday. I arrived today to find the article gone. It was unique for a) being a coop gymnasium, b) at $30/month being affordable, and c) being self-supporting, not begging for donations like the YMCA, or whatever, d) paying taxes (!) normal regular real estate taxes, (perhaps as non-profit not paying corporate taxes though) and c) offering most classes free including dozens of aerobics, and water classes weekly. It should be a model for all future coop gyms in the country. Instead we have Ys begging for corporate suppport and not paying taxes, county supported gyms, etc. All essentially non-viable institutions. This one should show the way if properly (NPOV) presented. I am obviously POV and tried to be cautious in presenting the club. Too cautious, I guess. It is gone now. Are we so tight on space in Wikipedia for crying out loud? A couple of thousand bytes. Jeepers! Have to sandbox-save everything for fear of being stabbed in the back? Come-on guys!Student7 21:32, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- This is its edit history:-
- 11:59, 28 May 2007 . . User:Justen (1,548 bytes) (This article is non-notable, and if it weren't for the clever prose, I'd call it an advertisement. Speedy deletion request.)
- 11:55, 28 May 2007 . . User:Justen (1,551 bytes) (As it stands, I'm not sure this article meets Wikipedia's notability requirements.)
- 08:40, 14 May 2007 . . User:Ylem (1,536 bytes) ("It's" to "its". Minor.)
- 20:45, 30 April 2007 . . User:Student7 (1,538 bytes) (Add new article)
- I could undelete it, but it would be likely not be long before someone else speedy-deleted it as "advertisement" and "not notable" (= NN). Anthony Appleyard 21:38, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- You do agree that the article was given one day prior to being deleted? Is this usual?
- It was never intended as an advertisement. It is a not-for-profit group like the YMCA which probably has a page, is not a for-profit like Gold's Gym, which has a page. It often has a waiting list (capped at 2,000 members). It doesn't need members particularly. Nerds that browse Wikipedia aren't likely to join anyway! I am not a founder, nor on the board, nor have I ever been or am likely to be. I am just a dues paying member. I help edit several hundred articles on Wikipedia. Of those that are not schools, this was the most promising of institutions. 21:55, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks. I have sandboxed it. It clearly needs work. Student7 23:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- So should it be redeleted? As it is right now, it is clearly (still) a prime candidate for speedy deletion. (Not-for-profits advertise, too, afterall.) What makes this random Florida fitness club "notable" for inclusion in an encyclopaedia? Justen 02:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- I should add that one argument that could be used for the inclusion of Gold's, the YMCA, and so forth are that they are historically notable (and quite sizeable, if that matters). I'm not sure if Bally and 24 Hour Fitness have the same claim to historical significance, although both are sizeable public companies (i.e. 3 million members or so each, compared to 2,500 for "Our Club"). Justen 02:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry! I think we should continue any conversation over here: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Our_Club. But, Anthony Appleyard, thanks for being speedy with the initial delete and accomodating with the undelete. In both cases, you were being both helpful and responsive, two admin traits which help keep Wikipedia's environment positive (imho). Justen 02:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Category:Place names
- I think Category:Non-Christian religious placenames in Britain is too detailed to be placed directly under Category:Place names. Compare the other much more general categories under this category. It fits under Category:Religious places and this is only one level down. If you feel strongly that it fits under Category:Place names for another reason, I think you need to add some other intervening category. Currently I am trying to diffuse the Places names category since there are too many low-level entries. This applies even more to articles than categories at the moment! I hope this helps. — Jonathan Bowen 13:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Many of these places are not religious places now, but were once: for example, people stopped worshipping Thor at Thundersley or Thoresway, or Woden at Wednesbury, well over a thousand years ago. Anthony Appleyard 16:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Faiyum
Please move El Faiyum to Faiyum as per this discussion. Atlases differ from one spelling to the other, and as a native speaker of Arabic, I can assure you that most English versions do not use the el or al defenite articles (meaning the) in front of proper names, because it's ubiquitous in Arabic and clearly wrong. If we start doing this, then 99% of the names of cities in the Middle East will have el in front of them. This is simply unreasonable. Thank you.
Fayum Mummy portraits
Anthony, I am most surprised you moved this page! Did you not see that Lanternix has previously moved it before and been reverted, and the comments against the move on the talk page (at top)? He has never taken it to the talk page himself. The mummy portraits have been well known internationally for over a century under this spelling, used by the majority of musums etc. He did not even ask you to move this one I know see. As far as the mummy portraits are concerned, the Al- is in fact very often added, for example by the British Museum, & would be my first choice, but I will settle for Fayum. There is also an issue between the current spelling of the town and the governate, which seem to differ. See the talk page. Johnbod 12:38, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Not wishing to be a pain or anything, but I'm not sure if this was as uncontroversial as the nominee suggests. A simple Googlefight gives it to the German/Russian name by 1m+ to 186,000.[20] The irony is, of course, that Burton's version was also only a transliteration (of the original "Shahrzād"), so you could argue it wasn't intrinsically correct (sic) either.
Now I'm not saying I would have actually opposed the move; in fact I'd be amenable to Shahrzād if given a choice of the three, but that's just me (and my eyebrows are going up at the fact that there's a redlink in my last sentence). However, I feel that there's a little more room for debate than the nominee indicated, given WP:COMMONNAME. Certainly, looking at the number of links he had to fix in advance of going to WP:RM,[21] the "more common" use on WP might mirror the more common use in Google? (I didn't do a specific count, so I can't be absolutely certain). I guess I also kinda feel a teensy weensy bit miffed by that kind of "pre-emptive" editing -- I prefer to see people request the move first, then change the links if/when consensus is demonstrated.
Anyhoo, just thought I'd let you know. To be honest I'm not sure I expect you to do anything;. I guess all I'm really doing is indicating that if an editor reverts your move in the next few weeks, he/she isn't necessarily an isolated editor acting entirely against consensus. However, I'll keep my fingers crossed that we don't end up going down that path. Regards, --DeLarge 14:52, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Faiyum
I did start discussing the issue on the talk page per your request. I think however that it was very much unreasonable on your part to simply delete hours of work that I had put into the articles Faiyum and Faiyum Governorate. When I made my initial changes, I had made sure to include all the changes you had previously made to these pages, and only added to them. On the other hand, you simply removed everything I did. I would appreciate it if you don't do this again. Thank you. --Lanternix 17:32, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Death Ray removal at Laser applications
Hi, I am working on cleaning up said article and sourcing as much of it as I can. The 'death ray' stuff was unsourced an mostly incorrect, so that I why I removed it. I may add a line or two about how the first application that the media came up with after Ted Maiman invented it was a 'death ray', but I need to find the SPIE or OSA article that I read it in. Adolf Slaby
I'm asking you because of your work on History of Radio, but of there's someone else I should be asking, please tell me. I've just been editing Adolf Slaby (starting by Reddi as Adolphus Slaby with an incredibly rough machine translation from de WP) My German isn't great, but much better than that, so I tried making it into English partly from the existing machine translation, partly from the original German. I'm not sure about some technical aspects, especially in section 4, Radio, and most particularly the last sentence there, so I'd be grateful if you could check & fix. I didnt remake all the links to the enWP form for the schools and the companies, but I can get back to that . -- I moved it to Adolf on the authority of the deWP, & fixed the links to it. I also shortened the article a little. -- thanks DGG 21:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- For section 4 of de:Adolf Slaby I get this, by tidying a Babelfish http://babelfish.altavista.com translation:-
By the personal acquaintance with the boss of the English Telegrafenverwaltung Sir William Henry Preece (1834 - 1917) Slaby participated in 1897 in Marconi attempts with the wireless telegraphy before the English channel coast, supported by his assistant Georg Graf von Arco. He recognized immediately the meaning of this invention, whereupon he immediately repeated the experiments in Berlin also and expanded the physical and technical bases more near examined. To it also the Kaiser and the military authorities appeared very interested. The wireless telegraphy attempts took place first to the TH Berlin and then between the Heilandskirche at the port of Sacrow and the 1.6 kilometers removed sailor station Kongsnaes at the New Garden in Potsdam. On 7 October 1897 a radio link from Schöneberg succeeded to Rangsdorf, which already represented a world record at 21 km, and in the following summer over 60 km from Berlin to Jüterbog. Crucial improvements led to success: the spark gap lay not in the transmitting antenna (like what Marconi publicised), but in a circle coupled inductively with the circuit/circle of antennas* [ source: Fassbender, ntz 1965]

Spam in Healthways (medical company)
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Healthways (medical company), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Healthways (medical company) is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Healthways (medical company), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Healthways (medical company) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 14:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Page moves
There is currently a thread at WP:ANI about two recent page moves you've made that were under the uncontroversial section. The page moves were clearly not uncontroversial, and were reverted. However, you appear to have moved them again as they were re-added to the uncontroversial section. This appears to be an oversight on your part, so I've undone it, especially in light of the fact that they were not uncontroversial in the first place. I would ask that you please try to pay a bit closer attention before making such page moves in the future. Thanks. The Evil Spartan 18:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Please ignore the above. The moves were supported by wider community consensus, and no opposing opinion was put forward. This makes them fairly uncontroversial. The reversion then lead to sabotaged redirects which are speedy reversible per ArbCom. You did the right thing. 81.104.175.145 22:39, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

CSD G7
Hi AA- I noticed that you deleted Image:TFC Norman Blake 2003.JPG and Image:TFC Gerry Love 2003.JPG as G7 (self-requested delete). If you look at the log, you'll see that I clumsily did the same thing and then changed my mind (same goes for Image:Teenage Fanclub Live 2003.JPG). The uploader (User:Megamanic) is fed up with WP and is leaving, and trying to take his images with him. As far as I know this is a violation of the GFDL, since the uploader released his control over the work when he tagged it. I'd like to re-undelete the images and put them back in the articles where they currently live as redlinks, but didn't want to revert you without your OK. My understanding of G7 isn't laid out explicitly anywhere as far as I can tell, but exactly this situation is addressed at Wikipedia_talk:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#G7. Let me know what you think. Deletion of SPSA entry
I am confused on why the SPSA entry was deleted. SPSA is a non-profit governmental agency. Other local government bodies also have Wikipedia, so I am unsure of the reasoning behind the deletion.

Cadence Design Systems
- You are aware that this article, Cadence Design Systems, was recently deleted and that the 50 links that are pointing to it are just spam, right? --Witchinghour 11:17, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have checked some of the pages that link to Cadence Design Systems. Some of them are about companies; some not. Their history pages show that they have survived various lengths of time (at least one from March 2005) without being deleted for spamming. Anthony Appleyard 11:45, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes I've been going through and tagging the articles of those type of companies, and a lot of them have been speedily deleted in the past couple of days. I'm reinstating the spam and corp tag to Cadence, unless you object, feel free to remove it and I won't come back to it. --Witchinghour 11:55, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- User:LouScheffer has removed the speedy tag from Cadence Design Systems and has edited it back to all the original spam. I have AfD'ed Cadence Design Systems. It might be useful to list the other files involved in that AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cadence Design Systems instead of speedy-delete-tagging them. Anthony Appleyard 16:22, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
- What would a reader who knew nothing about such a company want to know about it? I think they would want to know what business it is in, how big it is, where it is located, what products they sell, and perhaps some of how they got to where they are today. These are all publically accessible facts, so do not seem like advertising in my mind. Perhaps you could explain which parts of the article you think are spam? Thanks, LouScheffer 16:30, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
A Matter of Life and Death
"moved A Matter of Life and Death (film) to A Matter of Life and Death: as requested". Requested by who? And what about all the links to A Matter of Life and Death (film)? -- SteveCrook 02:41, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- It was requested by User:Masaruemoto. See "A Matter of Life and Death (film) → A Matter of Life and Death — The classic film is the clear primary use here. —Masaruemoto 00:19, 9 June 2007 (UTC)" in this old version of the page moves request list . As this move request seems now to be disputed, I have now moved the page back, and the plain name A Matter of Life and Death now redirects to a disambig page. Anthony Appleyard 04:59, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- I wasn't disputing it, just asking a questioning about it :) I wouldn't even have done that if all the links to the film had been moved as well. But now it seems to be still a bit confused with the link on the disambiguation page pointing to itself and the link on Michael Powell's template page both linking to the disambiguation page. I'll correct those -- SteveCrook 13:30, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

In Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen#Completed requests is this entry:-
- * handlebar was 'split' to bicycle handlebar and motorcycle handlebar, but previously was exclusively about bicycle handlebars. --Christopherlin 03:30, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
This splitting seems to be justified. What needs doing with page histories? Or what? Anthony Appleyard 08:42, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I thought it would be cleaner to keep the bicycle-related history on one page, and start the disambiguation page at handlebar from scratch. Let me know what you think. --Christopherlin 12:18, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- The situation seems OK as it is. I have put a short history note in Talk:Handlebar. Anthony Appleyard 12:27, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Edit summaries on Oxyhydrogen
Your using the edit summaries of 'tidy' and 'fire polishing' for complete reverts is misleading and insulting. Also I must point out that the version you reverted to was definitely not tidy! The way, the truth, and the light 09:19, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I am in the process of tidying them. Please wait until I have tidied them. Anthony Appleyard 09:21, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I did wait several weeks after placing the tags; nothing changed. Also, please explain your improper edit summaries. The way, the truth, and the light 09:27, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I was in the process of tidying, like I said in the edit summaries, and found that someone kept reverting as I was editing. It is a matter of edit-collision. If I am allowed to finish tidying, you can then examine the result and make to it what alterations that you may think fit. Anthony Appleyard 09:31, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- OK, you should have changed the edit summary before saving, at least the last time. I don't see that reverting all the way back is helpful, as the old version was so disorganised. The very reason I placed the tags up was to attract comment; I feel it's bad form for you to start editing only after I finally did the merge. The way, the truth, and the light 09:58, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- could I ask you, please, to be more precise in your use of language? You have warned this user that he may be banned, where you meant blocked. - Haha. There aren't any spammers.
- The only people contributing to this article when it was deleted were skeptics. There was an editorial dispute between me and Nomen about his repeated insertion of unsourced weasel word criticisms, but we're both skeptics. Noah is somewhat of a proponent, with a commercial interest in the stuff, but he's at least somewhat reasonable, and had been quiet for a few months anyway; he hadn't contributed to the latest incarnation of the article. — Omegatron 15:06, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Move of Son Goku to Goku
Hello.
If I'm not mistaken, you've just moved the Son Goku article to Goku, "as requested". I don't understand. There's currently a discussion on the possibility of a move (actually, two discussions), but there's currently only a single person in favour of the move, with consensus currently on 'Son Goku'. Could you tell me who requested that you perform the move? Bladestorm 20:51, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Since he'd already been in the middle of a debate as to whether or not to do the move, how could that have been considered "uncontroversial"? Take a look here, and you'll see where he was involved with a disagreement over the move with no less than five other editors before he chose to list it as "uncontroversial".
- Is there a process I can follow for having it very speedily reverted back to the correct naming? Bladestorm 21:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you. (I didn't want to revert myself, as a reasonably-involved party) Bladestorm 21:09, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Please consider undelting Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission. You deelted this under WP:CSD#A7, but I don't think that a governmental agency fits under "people, groups, companies and web content" to which A7 is supose to be limited. i don't know if this would survive an AfD or not, but IMO a speedy delte is not the best route for articels such as this. Deletion review for Spyware Terminator
- An editor has asked for a deletion review of Spyware_terminator. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Cableguytk 04:27, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- There seems to be a confusion here, between Spyware_terminator and Spyware_Terminator:-
- Spyware_Terminator's history and logs show that:
- User:Cableguytk created it at 04:23, 25 June 2007. (745 bytes)
- It was not edited again after that.
- User:Naconkantari deleted it without db- tag at 22:15, 24 June 2007 with deletion comment "CSD G11: Blatant Advertising".
- User:Cableguytk recreated it at 04:23, 25 June 2007 as "'This article is currently under discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review, because ...".
- Spyware_terminator is a different file which was deleted and re-created 5 times and at 22:02, 11 June 2007 User:Akradecki finally deleted it and protected its title. I was involved in its history.
Anthony Appleyard 05:00, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Am I free to recreate Spyware_Terminator again, with content that I feel is not an advertisement and not have it be speedy deleted for CSD G11 seeing as how my article will differ from Spyware_terminator? Cableguytk 05:06, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Presumably you could try re-creating it, but note that User:Naconkantari deleted it, not me, and I cannot stop other users from speedy-delete-tagging it, and I cannot stop other admins from deleting it. To be a reasonable article it would be useful if it contained a NPOV description of how Spyware Terminator works, and suchlike. Anthony Appleyard 05:12, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you for the tips. I was getting quite confused. Cableguytk 05:24, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I read your message on nah:Discusión:Calīxatl about the name replacement for "discusión" or "talk" on the Nahuatl Wikipedia. I've been for a while working on the format of the site, and I've managed to translate the interface with the help of Akapochtli (the only native Nahuatl speaker) as well as added the tagline and some other things. The truth is we do have a term on "talk": "tēixnāmiquiliztli", as you can see on the tab above the page. However, neither I nor other user on Huiquipedia has figured out a way to make the change.
