Hi. I found Rolling Stone article "disco ballad". As for "pop" which has been vague for the genre. Another lines "dance-pop and electronic rock elements" has been already stated (although another magazine site is refers to "Marry the Night"). 115.164.222.107 (talk) 11:51, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Under the Bridge
[edit]Hi, I removed your "unreferenced" banner from "Under the Bridge" because generally uncited track listings have been acceptable and passed muster at WP:FAC unless there is something disputed or controversial that's being challenged. The media is obviously the source, same as how we accept largely uncited plot summaries in fiction articles. --Laser brain (talk) 11:58, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
- Well I'm not so sure, that's why I'm discussing it with you. I'm just saying that many album and song articles have passed at WP:FAC with unsourced track lists, meaning multiple reviewers have found it acceptable. See Intimacy (Bloc Party album) for example. I don't see the purpose of requesting sources for a track list unless something is disputed. Perhaps we should open a discussion at WT:ALBUMS? I found a couple people asking this question and they seem to have been told that the liner notes are an acceptable source. --Laser brain (talk) 15:00, 8 May 2016 (UTC)
- Liner notes I'm happy with being sourced, because then it could at least be traced back to something. We can open up topic about it or just source them for now on this article, but it's up to you for now. :)Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:08, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

The 10th Victim - Distributors
[edit]Would it be possible to cite the posters on the actual page of The 10th Victim itself as evidence for the distributor? Because that's where I think the confusion came about. PatTheMoron (talk) 00:37, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @PatTheMoron:. Personally, I'd generally say it's fine. But it's not really an obvious things. While working on a few of the old Italian gothic horror films, I've come across so many films that have information that is not correct from the film posters, or even the film credits. Specifically, I Vampiri credits a screenwriter who does not exist. The Blancheville Monster credits a screenwriter who had nothing to do with the script. Terror-Creatures from the Grave credits different people as director. The list goes on. As the production history of these films are often very dodgy and fly-by-night, I think it's best to get specific sources. Distributor isn't usually that important of a deal for the infobox, it'd probably be better to either dig out a source, or find other ways to improve the article. I'm open to hear your thoughts on the topic though, so don't be hesistant to discuss further. :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 01:54, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
Actually, I've just found a source for the Italian distributor. http://www.archiviodelcinemaitaliano.it/index.php/scheda.html?codice=AG1670&jjj=1463450614868 PatTheMoron (talk) 02:04, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Possible Collaboration
[edit]Hello Andrzejbanas, saw your edit and reply to the article on the J-Horror film Premonition and I like the way that you have expanded the article. Just thought I'd let you know tha I have been working on expanding the article on the iconic horror character Leatherface and I was wondering if you would be willing to collaborate with me on it. I have already got Bignole in on the project but, truth be told, I need more users in on this particular collaborative expansion because of the importance and scope of the article. I have also created a draft page for use for this collaboration which I will include here. If you can, try to get more people in on this project, if we can get more people in on this we can get this article done a lot faster. Check out the talk page for more information if you are interested.--Paleface Jack (talk) 18:09, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Danger: Diabolik
[edit]Hello:
The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Danger: Diabolik has been completed.
I did find one issue. In the development section this appears: "…but production ended when Holt became sick on set and was replaced by Gilbert Roland." Originally the text said "Halt" not "Holt" which I assumed was a typo so I made the change to "Holt". If this is the case, do you know if Gilbert Roland was brought in as director or to play a role in the film? The sentence says he was the director but as far as I can tell he was an actor. There's no mention of directing in his WP bio. This needs to be clarified.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Fatty Koo albums
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Fatty Koo albums, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- The category has been empty for seven days or more and it is not presently under discussion at Categories for discussion, or at disambiguation categories. (See section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The Great Silence
[edit]It would appear that one of the casting sources used on The Great Silence was indeed self-published. Because there are still disputes as to who played who (I am certain that some of the cast details laid out by Hughes are incorrect), I have simplified the cast list and sourcing so that only cast members and characters who have been clearly identified across both official and unofficial sources are used. PatTheMoron (talk) 00:20, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
- That's going to be better I think! The only other solution I think would be just to remove unessential cast members. I.e: most of these cast members don't have names, so per WP:FILMCAST suggests that we do not need to list every cast member, so even just having the left side of the cast list there would probably be enough. But it's up to you. Andrzejbanas (talk) 07:49, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
Andrzejbanas, you nominated this article for DYK a little over a year ago, the day is was listed as a Good Article. It just came up on a list of DYK nominations that were never transcluded on the Template talk:Did you know page, so it was never reviewed.
If you are still interested, I believe we can arrange to have it transcluded and reviewed. I would have to do a few edits to the nomination page and also transclude it myself. Please let me know your preference here. Thank you very much. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:15, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi! That sounds good to me @BlueMoonset:. Please, be my guest! Andrzejbanas (talk) 02:40, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
- Andrzejbanas, I see that this nomination has already been reviewed, which is great. As noted by the reviewer, you do need to provide a quid pro quo (QPQ) review with this nomination since you wish it to proceed—basically, you have to review another person's DYK nomination. I see it is something you've had to do before, even if the last time was a few years ago. If you have any questions about the review process, please let me know. Many thanks. Careful
[edit]Hello.
Could you please be a little more careful when you revert? You reverted two edits on Robert Dahlqvist, one of them by me, stating that Dahlqvist's date of death was unsourced. I didn't introduce the date of death, I only corrected the syntax in the death date and age template (a pipe sign was missing). In addition, the article was in need of some copyediting, which I did.
It would have been just as easy for you to just remove the death date. I have now copyedited the article again.
Thanks.

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. .During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. NeilN talk to me 20:15, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
@NeilN:, just out of curiosity is it vandalism when people are removing maintenance templates when the problem has not been resolved? If so, not worries. If not, I'm not sure if this ban is valid. Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:24, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
- No, it is not vandalism. Editors is good faith can disagree as to whether or not the problem has been resolved, if the problem needs a tag, or even if there is a problem. This is usually a straight up content dispute, and the removals are not done maliciously (which is the core requirement of vandalism). --NeilN talk to me 23:35, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
- Okay, @NeilN:. I've really misunderstood the rules. Could I request an unban? I won't bother re-adding the tag as my error was really just me misunderstanding rules. I tried searching them up before and couldn't find anything suggesting this. I was basically going by Help:Maintenance template removal, which didn't seem to go against the item. I'd like to note that GothicFilm concluded that "Both of them are in the prose." which was not the case. I even pinged him here over a week ago to try and encourage more discussion. He (or she) seems to be trying to rub it in my face here and is creating conclusions to discussions that I started immediately after my ban from issues I initially brought up in this article. I'm pretty stern with my beliefs, but I try to take things to discussion, which can be seen as recently as on Talk:Varan_the_Unbelievable#Poster. So in short, I'd like to apologize, but I'm finding there to be ulterior motives to banning me so a conclusion can be found without my input. Again, I apologize. Thanks for your time. Andrzejbanas (talk) 23:49, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
- Editors can't just "close discussions" when an editor is temporarily blocked for edit warring. Admins (including myself) will frown on that sort of gaming. I will unblock if you agree to a WP:1RR restriction on that article for the next week. --NeilN talk to me 00:02, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
- That sounds fair. Can I still contribute to the talk page though @NeilN:? Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:05, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

The Toho Studios Story: A History and Complete Filmography
[edit]Hi, Andrzejbanas. I have a quick question regarding The Toho Studios Story: A History and Complete Filmography, which is considered a reliable source. In that book, I've discovered that there are some typographical errors in staff names such as Tsutomo Shibayama, which is a misspelling of Tsutomu Shibayama, as well as Takeshi Shudo, which is also misspelled as Tsuyoshi in the book. Any ideas on what to do to correct the name spelling problems in these cases? Thanks, Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 07:48, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Sjones23:, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have the book on loan from a local University library. I'll take a peak at as I believe it has some notes on spelling of names and what not to figure out what the issue is. I'll get back to you. Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:07, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- Gotcha. There's no rush. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 16:58, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- Okay! I got a source of his explanation that I will transcribe here @Sjones23: "Every effort has been made to provide the correct readings of Japanese names, a task even ordinary Japanese citizens struggle with daily. For example, the cinematographer Askazu Nakai is frequently billed as "Asaichi Nakai", because his name can be read that way also. In many cases the only way to determine someone's name is to ask them (or their immediate family and friends) directly. Generally, we have opted to "take our best shot" rather than no include the name at all. In a few instances we have chosen to include alternate readings in brackets. For example, the cult character actor Hideyo Amamoto himself went by the name of "Hideyo" by two of his most frequent collaborators Kihachi Okamoto and Jun Fukuda - but other swear that Amamoto himself went by the name of "Eisei", another reading of those Kanji characters. In recent years it has become fashionable for Japanese actors to go by single names a la Capucine, Cantinflas, etc.: Koyuki, Magy, Bengal as well as singularly unconventional stage names (YosiYosi Arakawa, Yusuke Santamaria, etc.)" As for how he got these names, Galbraith states that "The credits compiled for this book have come from a variety of sources, including Japanese reference books, press materials, newspaper and trade reviews, and from the onscreen credits of the film themselves". I've only noticed my contributions being edited on the Pokemon article (you've probably edited others, but I just want to clarify this.) Perhaps we could move discussion that page to figure out a solution if its the unique solution? Otherwise, I'd just have these names be wikilinked to their most common spelling in English if the users have articles. If they do not, I'd leave them as cited in the book.Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:14, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I think we should open up a discussion on the talk page and ask other editors around here for a possible solution about official romanizations since there still may be some typographical errors like Takeshi Shudo's romanization. You recently reverted an edit I made to List of French films of 1973, claiming it was unsourced. The films was sourced by it's own Wiki page, which is generally acceptable.
I've seen many other things say differently. Where did you learn the rule for this? This is just for my personal clarification because I was conflicted whether to revert you or not so asked first. I've also seen both a studio albums chronology and a official be listed on an article before.
If just studio efforts are listed, just EPs would be listed if said artist's EP article had more to EPs to its chronology. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 22:22, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- @DannyMusicEditor:, I could've sworn it was in either infobox album or MOS:ALBUM. Searching through the archives, there apparently was a decision to follow-up albums in chronological order regardless if they are compilations, live albums, or EPs. The only thing we don't use is it for is singles. The discussion can be found here. Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:38, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

French films of 1962
[edit]When you mention genres I presume you meant Phaedra. I am surprised you would question whether this is a drama but I have removed the genre to avoid conflict. I am also quite puzzled that you would request sources for existing Wiki pages. These pages are surely already sourced.
Please stop harassing me or following me around like some kind of weird stalker.
- Please assume WP:GOODFAITH @Walkingtalkingmammal:, I have an article on a watchlist that I worked on and I'll remove things which are inappropriately sourced. Also, please sign your posts. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:33, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
I find it difficult to assume good faith when faced with a contributor who appears so eager to delete the work of others, without any kind of conversation or consensus. I am afraid that smacks of arrogance. Walkingtalkingmammal (talk) 14:20, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- There is no real need for a consensus, your source does not state what you claim or you added material against WP:RS, what is there to discuss? Per WP:UNSOURCED, "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." In short, if you do not at least give me a source that states what you claim (which you did not here), it's up to you to find sources. I do not understand why you think we are not having a conversation, I explain my edit in the edit summary and am talking with you about it now. They really do not even need this level of conversation because your sources just blatantly do not state what you are claiming, or you don't have a source. So I promise you I'm not trying to pick on you or anything, I just want you (and every wiki editor) to be careful with their sources. @Walkingtalkingmammal: Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:39, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Request reason:
Hi MSGJ. I'm a bit confused about your reason for my block. I have definitely attempted to discuss on the articles talk page, and any approach to discuss warn the user on their talk page led to no response except for the introduction to the film to avoid MOS:FILM lead intro (specifically, the IP kept changing the title to "Yongary is a 1999/2003 film" which breaks the rules of WP:SLASH and MOS:FILM's intro page. I think I'm a little confused of the three revert rule, if the content is vandalism or goes against standard, shouldn't you revert it and attempt to discuss it with the user (as I had)? Anyhow, I'd like a request to be unlock, I'm an active user on wikipedia and I'm not trying to control or argue with anyone. I'm mostly concerned that I have many pages in a watchlist and a good article nomination that could may require attendance. If its any compromise, I can stay away from the Yongarry article in question for the requested 96 hour ban. I'm open to other propositions as well. Thank you!Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:06, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
Accept reason:
Happy to unblock based on discussion below — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:40, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- There are very few exceptions to the WP:3RR rule, and you should be aware of the rules before reporting someone for edit warring. If you are claiming that these edits are "obvious vandalism" then I will look into that, but it wasn't impression I formed when responding to this request. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:21, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Maybe calling it "obvious vandalism", cause it's not immediately obvious, but for someone who is more familiar with the standards of MOS:FILM and WP:SLASH, there is no real arguing in favor of what the IP was doing. It's just against a few rules. I can elaborate a bit further. The user had continuously added "Yongarry is a 1999/2001 film". Now, the first thing going is that it used a slash between 1999 and 2001. Slashes suggest the terms are interchangable, but using a dash here is not appropriate either. Per WP:FILMYEAR, it says we should "Always go by the films' earliest release date, whether it be at a film festival, a world premiere, a public release, or the release in the country or countries that produced the film, excluding sneak previews or screenings.". This is what I had reverted it too, which is 1999. The confusion comes into play when the film was re-released with extra footage in 2003. I was attempting to add some content to this to make it clear, as the IP was rapidly adding content to the article, and I figured "hey, lets try and catch this before it becomes a bit messy". Usually, I find a single vandal warning given to IPs and new users gets them discussing with you on how and what the standards of wikipedia are. Here, I did not get a response, so it became a bit tricky on how to handle it. I probably should have gone into more details, and for that, I admit I was wrong. If you think the block should stand, I will not hold it against you, but my I'd still request an unblock just so I can keep an keep working at the dozens of other articles I'm tackling. I think my edit history suggests (even just from the past few days) suggests I regularly try and communicate with users to come to a conclusion on problems. I'll leave it up to you though. Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:32, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- What the IP editor was doing is not even close to vandalism; see Wikipedia:Vandalism for more details. If you accept that I am happy to unblock, but please understand there is no exemption from 3RR for reverts like this. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:13, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- I'd be more than happy too. I feel like I am missing some information here though. If there is content that is continuously being edited, and you have tried to contact the editor with no response, is there a page which explains the best approach to take? I want to follow the rules, I just feel like I am misunderstanding them. I will comply with your suggestion. The edits in question by the IP edits were not blatant vandalism. Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:17, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- It can be difficult when faced with an editor who won't discuss. If the changes are so bad that they need urgently reverting, then you can seek the help of other editors to try and discuss with the editor or undo the changes. Very soon it will be them who is violating 3RR on not yourself. If it's not urgent then suggest returning in a week and quietly undoing. It is likely the other editor will have moved on. Regards — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:17, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me on that Martin. I'll put a focus on being more level headed with it. Thanks again for hearing me out. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:32, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Help Needed: On the Topic of Collaboration
[edit]Hello Andrzejbanas. I just wanted to thank you for your help expanding the article on The Hideous Sun Demon. I was wondering If you would be willing to help me with expanding another article. One of my current projects is working on expanding the article on the film Begotten and my goal it to get it to FA class status. I have been working on it for a while now but I need help correcting and expanding it and I was wondering if you would be willing to help. I am working on the article in my sandbox at the moment so any fixes and expansion will need to be made on that page. I also need help acquiring the original review of the film by Susan Sontag who was influential in getting the film released. Please let me know if you are interested.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:11, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
Begotten Collaboration
[edit]Hello Andrsej... please don't make me spell you full name... Anyways just wanted to let you know that I have created a userspace for the collaborative expansion of the article on Begotten. I am still working on finding more people willing to work on different sections of the article (although I am fine if that doesn't work out). My goal is to get this article promoted to FA status so we will have to be very thorough on how we do things there. Once all the information is added and all sources are cited in the article we will need to work on adding the right quality images to the article. Thanks for your willingness to collaborate with me on this article hopefully we can get this promoted to FA status! :)

- Should be good! I don't know how much information I'll be able to find, but I'll do some searching tonight. Tried to do it on Sunday and found that the library was closed on Canada Day weekend. Oops. :) Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:20, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Vandalism on Yonggary pages
[edit]So an anonymous user that goes by the IP address of 104.57.183.127 keeps vandalizing both Yonggary pages and I suspect this user is also operating under another IP, 2602:306:839B:77F0:648B:9CC3:86BD:26ED. This person has been warned about unconstructive edits and was even blocked for a few days but he keeps going back to do the same thing that got him blocked for 3 days. What can we do? We can't keep playing whack-the-mole with this guy forever. Armegon (talk) 05:45, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- Unless they are violating the rules (i.e: breaking the 3RR, there is no real immediate blocking thing. I'd suggest we continue reverting the edits together as vandalism (which they are) sing the person WP:NOTGETTINGIT and continue to request blocks for the Yonngary pages. We should probably check out the others pages this person frequents as well. Long time vandals are nothing new to wikipedia, so we'll just have to keep reverting. eventually, they get bored and leave. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:24, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- He's been doing this since June 13th, according to the revision history. I honestly doubt he's gonna stop anytime soon. Armegon (talk) 06:05, 18 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'd suggest waiting it out still. Worst comes to worst, they will be editing again as soon as the lock on the page wears off soon. We can always suggest a stronger lock and lengthier lock. After that we can take it from there. Andrzejbanas (talk) 12:43, 18 August 2017 (UTC)

You delete my edits and place templates there. When I revert my original edit you accuse me of removing templates. I have no idea why you are determined to pursue this harassment, I do have problems with anybody else. Only you.
- I'm removing content (which I explained on the talk page @Walkingtalkingmammal:, because what you wrote did not match your source. I'm not accusing you of removing templates, you did, I showed you the edits. I can not tell if you understand what I'm writing, but you have to follow the rules on WP:STICKTOSOURCE. If you can not do that, then do not add the items you do as a source. It's as simple as that. You're right
[edit]I did not remember the recording dates correctly for The Open Door, so you're right, in this case, we wouldn't be. But if the album had been recorded over one solid year, we could put that. Hi User:Andrzejbanas, basically a while back I sourced genres to the articles; "disco-funk" and "classical-pop" respectively, but seeing as their hyphenated genres — nothing more than two existing genres connected with a hyphen, lacking an article of their own — their just contentious to include. I regret adding them knowing what I know now, but User:Ss112 is making it their mission to stop me from correcting my mistakes. User:SnapSnap said to ask you and that it might fall under WP:OR. You can see part of the conversation on User:Life of Tau's talk page, they share my view, just wondered what you would do in this situation thanks.--Theo Mandela (talk) 09:17, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

[edit]On 16 October 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nude for Satan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that one critic described the plot of Nude for Satan as "the Devil is bored and wants to have an orgy. Oh, and Calderoni gets molested by a giant spider"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nude for Satan. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Nude for Satan), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. I've found a source that confirms the so-called international dub as Toho's dub, or more technically, the dub that Toho commissioned from Frontier Enterprises, separate from the US English dub. Source comes from page 152 of Steve Ryfle's "Japan's Favorite Mon-Star". I've already added the info on the Gargantuas article but I thought you might wanna check it out, if you have the book but if not, you can easily find the entire book for free on google. Regarding the runtime, I know that Template:Infobox film clearly states to only add the theatrical running time but it also states Do not include any additional run times, such as a director's cut or an unrated version, without consensus. I think it should be fair that we should hold an open discussion to allow the US runtime in the article's infobox. It is a co-production between Japanese & American studios, after all. Also, the US version has many alterations & exclusive footage not found on the Japanese version. Thoughts? Armegon (talk) 08:24, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
- I'm a big supporter of people should be able to read the infobox to get basic information without having to know anything about the films production history or even its plot. In this case, having to runtimes will make people ask more questions than not. Since we can explain what is missing/added/etc. from this film as there is enough information about this, I would honestly leave out the running time in the infobox and explain these changes in the release section briefly. That way we have a cleaner infobox and its properly explained in the article. Thoughts? Andrzejbanas (talk) 14:54, 21 December 2017 (UTC)
- Sounds good but in regards to your recent edits, I reverted your edit of the 93 minute one back to the 88 minute edit, as well as adding 3 additional sources that support the 88 runtime, not just the Blu-ray source. It would be contradicting to use the 93 minute runtime (which is the US version) instead of the original theatrical cut, which is 88 minutes, as Template:Infobox film states we should. Your reversion of a correction to "House (1977 film)" was in error
[edit]The cat character, Shiro, is clearly heard being referred to as Shiro many times in the film itself. Source: House (1977) For those with difficulty parsing individual words in Japanese, the scene near the beginning where the characters are waiting outside the gate is an especially unambiguous example, as there is a line consisting solely of the cat being called after by name.
Substitutions such as "Snowflake" and "Blanche" seen in some English subtitle files are arbitrary changes made by individual English subtitling teams, and the article "House (1977 film)" is about that film, not the whims of The Criterion Collection's subtitling team. It is inaccurate and confusing to refer to a character by a name that is not part of the original film and is never heard in the film itself, especially since someone seeking information about said film from a source they consider reputable may be specifically looking for clarification regarding Shiro's canonical name.
An article about a film should convey accurate information about the actual film. Please do not undo corrections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.0.65.194 (talk) 03:38, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
- @24.0.65.194: Its not inaccurate, as it has been used. Per WP:COMMONNAME we should use the name that readers would be most familiar with. As this is the English wikipedia, most of its reader are not going to be fluent in Japanese. Its the same reason we have an article on Seven Samurai, not Shichinin no Samurai. Some of the girls nicknames do not directly match their names in Japanese, but that's the nature of translation. So this hardly follows up with your idea that its "confusing". I'd suggest if you want to use the other name, perhaps arrange it like the article on Audition has done. 03:49, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
- It's an inaccuracy by omission at the least, since it is not what most readers can be safely assumed to be familiar with. It's also worth noting that in Japanese, Shiro is a male name common for cats and dogs, whereas in English, Blanche is a female name common for old women, so a much more inexplicable change than the rest. It's a misleading translation, not just less than a direct match (which is unfortunate from an artistic standpoint), but yes, also a cause for confusion regardless of foreign language knowledge or how much one cares about the accuracy of translation. Unlike in your example of the title "Seven Samurai", there isn't one overwhelmingly known English translation of the character's name, and it isn't a matter of simple title, for which varying translations wouldn't cause notable issues in discussion. To give my personal experiences as one example, everyone has always started out using different names and pronouns for Shiro when the film comes up in conversation, which invariably brings things to a confused halt for a moment. I have more often observed this sort of thing playing out online. I don't see how one could provide citation for common use or the lack thereof, so hopefully that is not an expectation, but suffice it to say that "Blanche" is far from ubiquitous among English speakers. There's no need to avoid clarifying something many people do get confused about.
- It could be helpful to include an aside noting commonly seen English subtitlings such as "Blanche" and "Snowflake", but the character's actual name should be made clear. With regards to formatting that information like the Audition article, I'm not sure what aspect of it you're referring to. 24.0.65.194 (talk) 05:27, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi Andrz, a while back you invited me to grab you for feedback. I was hoping you could review drastic changes I've made to Caché (film), an article you've edited in the past and which I imagine I can expand further. No one has objected as of yet, but among other edits I replaced the Plot section out of concerns the previous may have been copied (reported to Wikipedia:Copyright problems a few days ago); even if that website copied us rather than the other way around, I think the new one is a bit more Wikipedic. Like I said, no one has objected, but I'm weary I could have people yelling at me for this and that down the road, which has happened to me before. :) Ribbet32 (talk) 02:58, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

- I saw he was banned; I think that debate was ridiculous and many of the arguments he was pushing are now discredited in policy and guideline. Do you have any opinion on which is the better Plot if the old one checks clear of copyvios, and on WP:ENGVAR? I love to use non-US spelling when I can; it turns out that the founder of the article wasn't a native English-speaker, so MOS:RETAIN is no help here Ribbet32 (talk) 05:35, 22 January 2018 (UTC)

Whether you're a fan or not wouldn't really matter, long story short: I've uploaded images (an upgraded version of the show's title card from the Blu-ray) which met Wiki guidelines but another editor disagreed, undid my edits simply because I removed an image he uploaded, and he started an edit war. [edit]Your recent editing history at Aliens (film) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war.
Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.Canterbury Tail talk 19:53, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

I need your help.
[edit]Hello there mate. I think this Scott Pilgrim problem is getting out of hand. I was told that you are a reasonable guy, unlike TheOldJacobite, which BTW whenever I drop him a note he deletes it. This "WP:Wheight" thing is a joke I think, because we arn't doing it for the right films, e.g. I have tried to do it for "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" and mine havn't been heeded like yours would. To answer your question on the page on "how is Japan involved?", the film was co produced with "Dentsu". Here is a list of all the production companies that produced the film and their respected countries as following:
Universal Pictures (USA) Marc Platt Productions (USA) Big Talk Productions (UK) Closed on Mondays Entertainment (USA) Dentsu (Japan) Relativity Media (USA) Scott Pilgrim Productions (USA)
BTW I have been scowging the internet for other sources and most of them seem to say just "USA". We should get our sources from other websites, not reviews that other people have written. I have spent all day writing this to get it right, and searching the internet for other sources and been in contact with them and the ones that responded to me said that they get their sources from you guys. With these "other sources" they are missing "Japan" (and some missing UK). In case you think I am lying about the companies, here is a link to my source.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0446029/companycredits?ref_=tt_dt_co
These places are relying on us for our info. And FYI, I dont like TheOldJacobite, but I like you, because you listen to everyones point of view. And these people that I have emailed told me something else, they told me that some of these pages are hopelessly out of date thast some havn't been updated in 8 YEARS! This is all I can do and thank you for listening. 86.149.77.56 (talk) 18:22, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hello! I appreciate your efforts, @86.149.77.56:. I do not think you are lying and are trying to get down to what the production companies are. Its a difficult thing on wikipedia as we to abide by certain rules. With some films. As for Scott Pilgrim, its definitely difficult. As we often resort to databases for this information, its not always going to be accurate as databases are just well, not usually the highest quality source. Even the current BFI and AFI has mistakes but its difficult to differentiate between what is a mistake, and what source is right and what source is wrong. I wouldn't swing with IMDb, per WP:RS/IMDb. As for finding an accurate source on what the "real" production companies involved with the film are, I don't think we can find a true one. Its such a business thing that more third-party sources don't discuss or don't even state how they declare what country does what. I'd honestly be happier to not list anything at all for the Scott Pilgrim page until we can clarify some information, I'd rather have nothing than information that we would write as "partially accurate" than the real deal, because its difficult to get a reader to understand that. Even just eye-balling the production companies is not even an accurate solution (to my great frustration!). For example, Iron Man 3 had tons of press about it initially going to be an official Chinese-US co-production. However, the Hollywood Reporter noted that despite the Chinese company contributing money, it did not contribute enough to become an official co-production by various standards and rules that I do not quite understand and have yet to really find the nitty gritty detail on. It's speculation, but this could be the case for Scott Pilgrim as well. Until we dig it out further, I'd honestly be happier leaving it blank with a footnote. Its just not clear yet. Andrzejbanas (talk) 22:24, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- Cheers m8. BTW I have just given TheOldJacobite a piece of my mind and I am not going to rest until this "issue with Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs the World and the Kid Who would be King.88.98.30.181 (talk) 19:21, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

Can we please work together on this?86.177.80.181 (talk) 10:13, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
- I am not siding with anyone. But to clarify, even emailing the company would not be valid here (though I'd trust your word on it). Because personal contact with people would be against WP:OR, i.e: its original research. Thats the main issue. Andrzejbanas (talk) 18:10, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
- Well I have found tons of evidence tat proves that I am right. Plus really its what thr BFI, AFI and Lumiere agree on, for that is what is written in the note on the page. 86.177.80.181 (talk) 18:19, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
- Im sorry about what I said. But the fact is, you are the only user on wikipedia who believes me and who I actually like. Look if we are going to find evidence for Scott Pilgrim being "Japanese" then lets do it together 86.177.80.181 (talk) 18:26, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
