American films
[edit]PLease please help me with the List of American films - note that the lists are being drawn up using the year categroies. When all the lists are fromatted I intended going thorguh and adding the details and removing non -US film -it would kmean a great deal for somebody to help me -thes elists have trememdous potential ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:56, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
American films
[edit]Hey great work on the lists -particularly the most recent films. The pages that require the most attention are 1965-1998 -particularly 1980s and 1990s -many of them are empty as yet. I've been working my way from 1940 to 1964 formatting the films and will go through and fill in afterwards -there may still be a few non American films. We'll get there eventually and it will be terrific source when completed. Great stuff!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:21, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
I know I'm sick of the image police too!!. Hey you'll be pleased to know then I created Template:Filmrationale for films and screenshots and Template:Filmbiorationale for dead film people after 1923 to save having to add it each time. These templates may help you amigo ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:46, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
HI friend. Hey can you add a few films to American films of 1980 andAmerican films of 1990? It is the early 80s and 90s that are empty. Even if there is one or two it will be off to a start. I am going to add 1984 now ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 19:40, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Wow I had no idea you were even away on vacation!!! I've nearly got the 60s into the tables - this is my first task then to go through and add all the details and rmeove non US films afterwards. hope things and your job are cool ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 21:38, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Thats a great idea creating similar lists for genre e.g horror in the official tables by decade. I am going to create a main genre template later to connect on the articles -hopefully they can develop like the country lists. I strongly think that the categories for all the different genres like drama, action etc need splitting by decade in categories like horror films -it is much more managable like this agreed? ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 09:23, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
This is the new genre template -I've rid of the crap on the main Lisra of films page too -much tidier ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 09:37, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Somebody has already created a side template but if the lists are too expand properly then the side template should contain the specific genre template e.g like you have done with horror not the main one. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 09:40, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
In answer to your question I do think we should include direct to video films but think we should only limit the tv films to the most notable ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 09:45, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I strongly agree with you the lists should be kept as basic as possible with rigid genre topics. To be honest I am unhappy with many of the ridiculous lists of films e.g List of films featuring the Irish Republican Army and List of films featuring Colgate toothpaste -they make the subject far too complicated . These make the film project look stupid. i am all for merging - gangster films are crime films of course etc etc. I only put into the template what was already listed on the main Lists of films page. See the List of horror films page now. I think the horror template should go at the top and the filmsbygenre template at the bottom ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 09:57, 22 July 2007 (UTC) Action • Adventure •Animation • Biopics • Comedy • Comedy-drama • Crime • Disaster • Documentary • Drama • Experimental Exploitation • Family • Fantasy • Film noir • Horror • LGBT • Mystery • Musical • Romance • Sci-Fi • Sports • Thriller • War • Western
This would be pretty much perfect. Maybe romance could be split into romantic drama and romantic comedy -the latter is a rigidly defined genre I think. I do hope though you can still help me complete the American film lists from time to time particularly 80s and 90s -I do consider them very important even above all the other country lists. I like your idea for progression with the genres. I think its about time though that all of the genres above should be split by decade in categories like horro also. E.g Category:1950s comedy films -stub sorting has already gone down this path . What do you think ? ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 10:09, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Genre split by decade is much easier for browsing I think - the horror films category is much easier to use ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 10:11, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Super - you can find the film tables 1890- present at User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Film lists -they are empty - and save you having to build up new tables every time ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 10:14, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Note also when you are adding the flag to thes enew horro lists can you use e.g USA with a {{ }} around it. France is FRA {{}} ,Spain ESP {{ }} etc -this way it has the flag and the country of origin e.g see List of horror films:1920s ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 10:52, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I guess flags take up less space this is fine - but I would prefer the Country name rather than a flag. Remember for Germany they've had many regimes which have used different flags ! I'm happy with just the flag though for space purposes only.
I'm going to go ahead and create some templates ready for splitting:

I propose we merge all of the loose comedy lists into one main List of comedy films ordered by decade. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 11:16, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Just mark it as under construction though ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 11:27, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I think I've come up with a solution. A column entitled Sub-genre should be created and would tell the reader whether it is comedy drama or comedy sci etc. Tge same could be done with romance with drama or comedy. I also agree with you now that only the flag should be in the boxes not the country name as well - on longer lists the repetitive names from American and the UK will make it look untidy and uncluttered -you're completely right. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 11:54, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
I am now adding the remaining lose comedy-genre lists to the decades -then I will remove these loose pages and create the redirects asap. The only list that will remain at present then is the List parody films as these are not ordered and are different. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 11:58, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Then finally List of comedy science fiction films will be ordered and the merge will be complete. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 12:11, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
This is true there's no need then to order it good - but we need to keep it until the films in the main comedy lists are marked as Parody or Spoof in the new Sub-genre column. then it can be deleted and redirected. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 12:18, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
List of comedy science fiction films was the other. Here I am thinking it is time to begin an overhaul of categorization -clearly there was no point in the sub genre lists - as categories can serve this function. However the idea of American comedy films and British comedy films etc is useful. I am thinking its best to create categories for these rather than lists. Also Category:1950s comedy films etc should be created to begin organizing the hug emain categories. Whilst it is best to keep categories simple - when you think about browsing by genre -you think of decades. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 12:41, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Canada has already been done a while back. My only concern is that if film articles are catergorized as both American films and American comedy films - users will tend to rmeove Category:American films -which should be regarded as most important. Hmmm. What to do? Waht to do??? 12:43, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes I think it best to bring it up at WP:Films later -no rush- often though the response is limited. I think we should keep the American and British comedy list until a decision is made about categories -I've merged the parody list now - great work ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 12:48, 22 July 2007 (UTC) .
What do yu think about Action and Adventure films? There is often considerable overlap between the two - really the modern action film only came into existence around the 1950s with the increase in special effects that made more extreme stunts possible. There is no film icon for adventure film yet -just action would List of action/adventure films be more appropriate do you think? However there is often considerable differenve between the teo -for example compare Swiss Family Robinson - an adventure to Die Hard 4 for example!! ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Contribs 13:24, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes I 'd have to agree with you there - although some films will have to go under both lists. I'll ask my good friend Wise Kwai to create an adventure icon You've hit the nail on the head with mid 1950s for action films - although there are a handful of films even in the silent era which could be classified as action films. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk?" Great job on developing the lists. I can't believe those losers couldn't see the potential of them. My Cambodian buddy Paxse helped to keep the lists and we won. Keep up the great work. I have formatted many of the American lists now. I still have a good number to do -when this is done the next task will be to go through and add the director.actor/studio details. I hope you can collaborate with me on this task when your great work is done on the genre. Well done good progress ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you?" Contribs 10:30, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Comedy films
[edit]PLease please can you develop these a little. These are the poorest of them all. Great work so far though. When complete they will be more than just lists they can have text in summarizing the genre in that decade ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:30, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

List of science fiction films
[edit]Hi Andrzejbanas. That's an interesting change you made to the List of science fiction films page. The sub-pages have hung my browser four times now, making them difficult to view. (Possibly it's related to the multitude of little flag icons? The pages take about a minute to load now, compared to seconds before.) But my main concern is that it appears some of the films on the original list have been removed. For example, the 1968 award-winning film Charly, which is based on a science-fiction novel and clearly seems to belong on the list. (Likewise Mysterious Island (1961 film) and the 1966 Around the World Under the Sea.) I'm curious if that just an oversight? Thanks. — RJH (talk) 16:32, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi! Yes I think some of it I may have missed. It was unintentional. It may take a sliver of more time to load these pages, but to make better lists on wikipedia that are encyclopedic, you usually have to give more information then just the year and title, so I expanded on it over a few weeks. Feel free to re-add certain titles. The only ones I knowingly removed were the "____ vs. _____" monster movies as I couldn't find much information about them at all, but I did retain the Godzilla ones, and even added a few, as it's pretty light sci-fi, but that's basicaly what Japanese sci-fi most popular export was for several years! Andrzejbanas 20:00, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay thank you. Yes it does make sense to remove the "____ vs. ____" movies. — RJH (talk) 18:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Films by genre
[edit]Hi I know you do a lot of work for albums on wikipedia too but are you still working on the lists. Many of them are still untouched such as List of crime films:1990s. At the very least the films need putting into the tables -I am afraid they will be down the afd again like before. Thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:15, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes it'll take some time - I only happened to come across the List of Crime films earlier when I thought about adding a Bollywood film. It can't be done overnight I appreciate this - but if you could help it gradually this would be fine thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 14:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I've gradually been working on US films. If you see years like American films of 1934 . I have reached 1972 so far -I'll do the odd years later ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:28, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
All I need now on pages like American films of 1970 is for somebody to come along and add the cast and it'll be done!!! I find it easy to add the director, genre and studio first. How are you anyway? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 22:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Infobox profiles
[edit]Hi. I think I'll have to explain because you'll never believe it otherwise! I was busy merrily putting profiles in infoboxes when, one day, I got a message (while trying to save the page) telling me that the topic was under discussion. The way the message appeared seemed pretty important. So I took a look at the discussion and it seemed to me that the consensus was going to vote against. So then I started taking them out as I came across them. Luckily the Frankenstein series is the only real major place where I made changes to the infoboxes. Sorry for wrecking you head with that! [edit]...I would like to thank you for your recent editing on the article I created about [[Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (film)]. I appreciate your taking the time to polish up the article's soundtrack listing. Merci beaucoup! Ecoleetage (talk) 12:50, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for upgrading this to start class. I thought it was a little more clean then stub myself. About the image, I took it off the "Magyar language version of Onibaba, but instead of saying "image" it said "Key". I'm not good with images (I don't know how to upload them), so I replaced "Key" with "Image". It is a picture of Suzuki grass with two of the characters in it. Suzuki grass is very tall. Yojimbo501 (talk) 17:59, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yes, the Magyar article makes our article look like crap. But then again, it could actually be badly written. I'll take a look at it with a online translator. Yojimbo501 (talk) 18:14, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Anyways, I'd like some advice also. For the article I frequently edit, Fires on the Plain, the production section has a reference that uses an interview with the director and cast to support details. Unfortunately, I always copy one of those references to make a new one. So in the part labeled "information retrieved", it all has the same date on when the information was retrieved. Is this a big deal? Is it important as to when it was retrieved? Yojimbo501 (talk) 18:25, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

category
[edit]stop adding 2000s action film as a category of all the superhero and sci fi movies. they're superhero, and scifi... those are the sensible genres. if you assume any film with action in it is an action movie, you dilute the category. ThuranX (talk) 07:20, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Your source is a sales site, which will use far more categories than it should, in order to ensure the widest exposure of products to potential customers. Unless you can cite a serious film critic categorizing such films that way, abide by the description in the article, which has consensus. as for your opinion, well, you know that wikipedia doesn't use YOUR opinion any more than they use mine. ThuranX (talk) 07:33, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, it is the burden of those seeking to create change to support their edits with citation when asked, reverting does not require the same burden. if it did, then everything would descend to edit warring rapidly. You need to provide citation that each film has been recognized as an action film, independently. A site which seeks to sell movies to the widest audience will call any movie with jokes a comedy. I note that daredevil is given four categories, between it's description and tagging. that site simply isn't reliable, as they have a serious profit driven motive to cast the widest net. ThuranX (talk) 07:44, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- I made clear what level of citation I'd find acceptable. RottenTomatoes can be edited by any member, so no thanks. allMovies looks to sell movies, so they're not neutral and reliable. I said, and I think this is clear "cite a serious film critic categorizing such films that way". If not, try this: find quotes from Joel Siegel, Roger Ebert, or some similar critic stating the genres you wish to add. Find even a press release that specifies that these are action films. Use of the word 'action' anywhere in the press release is not the same as determining genre. That's what I'm interested in seeing. Category population for the sake of populating categories based on your opinion and a dvd sales site is not sufficient. ThuranX (talk) 07:56, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- Finally, I feel obliged to warn you, you are at WP:3RR now, and have yet to supply good citation for your edits. Do not revert again. ThuranX (talk) 07:57, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
- No. That's something, but essentially in indicates overlaps are possible, not that all of one are all of the other. This is simple stuff to understand, you just don't want to validate your change. Until you can, it stays as it was before your edits were made. ThuranX (talk) 08:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering if I could provide an additional tip that would organize film articles even better. If you use {{DEFAULTSORT}} at the top of a group of categories for a film that starts with "A", "An", or "The", you can sort them by the primary word. For example, at The Attic Expeditions, I added this above the categories. Just move the article (A, An, or The) to the end like you see in the example. I'm working on cleaning this up, and I hope you can help ensure accurate categorization in the future! —Erik (talk • contrib) - 16:49, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Stripped (Christina Aguilera album)- Quality scale!
[edit]Hey! I just wanted to tell you that I read your "things to do" on the article and I added the personnel; so all the requirements are fulfilled! So I wanted to know, if you could check the article again! Thanks Olliyeah (talk) 17:53, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, if I bother you again, but I'm sick and so I have a lot time to improve things here! I tried to follow your advice for the Stripped (Christina Aguilera album) article and I edited some things! If you want look at it! Anyway, if you have time left, you could check the article Back to Basics (Christina Aguilera album) too, because it passed almost 2 years, since it was checked! If you could do that, you'd be amazing! Olliyeah (talk) 18:47, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- I just wanted to thank you for your support- you were great! Anyway, I added a production section too..ah, and you forgot to tell me, which sentence has no proper reference!Olliyeah (talk) 14:18, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Assessment/rating
[edit]I noticed that you have an assessment or rating on the talk page of several album articles. Who does these and why don't more articles have them? I want to know at which level the articles I created are at. I would like another editor to make the rating rather than myself. Can you give me more information? Thanks. Mjpresson (talk) 06:05, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- A, thanks for your response regarding assessments. My articles are film articles. Do you assess these? If not does someone else? I guess I could ask at the films project but you seem to know these things. There are links on my userpage to the articles. I appreciate your help, I've never done anything like this and I honestly don't know where the articles stand with the rest. Mjpresson (talk) 15:54, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kwaidan.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Kwaidan.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Icehouse album
[edit]I notice you have recently assessed the Icehouse article and correctly pointed out that it lacked an additional section of Prose (other than the Lead). I believe I have addressed this issue and so the article could now be C-class or even B-class. I'll have a go at readability factor for B-class later: so I'll leave the assessment until I've finished there.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:39, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Your assessment of Halloween
[edit]I challenge the "no" for "major points are appropriately cited" - There is only 2 things not cited, and neither are "major points". Citing the release date of a UK version of the DVD is not a major point (yes it shoudl be cited, but this isn't going up for GA nomination, so it isn't a huge deal at the moment. The other is "major ommissions". What major omissions are there? Remember, this isn't a GA-class article, as it isn't "broad in coverage", but there certainly are not "major omissions". Also, cast sections are not mandatory, as the cast are listed in the plot section. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 23:20, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- It lacks a section on casting, or it lacks a cast section? The difference is a section that details who was cast and why they were cast, along with their interpretations of their roles, while the other is simply a listing of the actors and their roles. The latter is covered in the plot section that lists their names next to their characters. "Casting" info, while good to have, is not a "major omission". A major omisson for a film would be having no info on the box office success and critical reception of the film. Per the B-class criteria for #2, it says: "although some sections may need expansion, and some less important topics may be missing." It also says, "No reader should be left wanting, although the content may not be complete enough to satisfy a serious student or researcher." - There is info on Malcolm McDowell being cast in the "Development" section, but he's the only one. An expansion of the production section is really all this film is missing for GA-status (as the soundtrack section would most likely be merged into a "Music" section that covers all music in the film). BIGNOLE (Contact me) 01:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Hello, you created the article Contact (Silver Apples album) about two years ago (3 September 2006). Please bear with me through this:
"Cecil Taylor" is credited as co-songwriter, but the way it is credited is somewhat confusing:
- (Silver Apples, Simeon, Cecil Taylor),
- and later as (Silver Apples, Simeon, Taylor)
The Silver Apples were Simeon Coxe and Danny Taylor. While I understand that you probably meant "Cecil Taylor" in the song credits that just say "Taylor", it makes me wonder if all credits for Cecil Taylor should actually be to Danny Taylor—perhaps you were thinking of jazz musician Cecil Taylor when you wrote this, and accidentally put his name instead of Danny Taylor. However, if the credit is actually to Cecil Taylor, is it the Cecil Taylor, or someone else by that name, or perhaps even a pseudonym/joke name for Danny Taylor?
I hope you can recover your source for this info, because a lot of what is out on the Internet is now just mirrored from this article, so it's difficult to verify. — Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 03:54, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have a feeling the Cecil Taylor credit is incorrect. It is plausible that Cecil Taylor did co-write these songs (he is also NYC-based, and in the late 1960s, jazz was branching out quite a bit into other genres—jazz fusion, avant-garde jazz, etc), but the only source that mentions these two together is Allmusic (what are their standards?) and mirrors of Wikipedia. But all is not lost! I have asked two people who own a copy (via Rate Your Music), and will wait for them to reply before I change anything. — Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 04:32, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Update: The credit given on the vinyl copy says "Simeon–Taylor", with no indication of Cecil or any other Taylor besides Dan. I fixed the article. I guess whomever put that up at Allmusic made a mistake. — Twas Now ( talk • contribs • e-mail ) 21:39, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Wrmysteriesoftheorganism.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Wrmysteriesoftheorganism.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. Hi! I don't know if you've seen this discussion page - it sort of confirms what I remember, that "The Garden of Earthly Delights" was issued as a single in the UK. It was certainly played on radio a fair amount - unfortunately I didn't buy it because I was saving up for the LP, which I still have and treasure. Can you/we track down any confirmation that it was issued as a single? Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:13, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Great stuff! Is this guy Richard Durrett? Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:37, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Although it's true that the album didn't sell well enough in a short time in the UK to make any charts, it certainly gained a following in "underground" circles of the time, both because "Garden.." was played on a few radio shows, but mainly because "..Wooden Wife.." was featured on this sampler album, which because it was so inexpensive and featured both highly respected and new artists became an essential purchase for a great many people (teenagers and older) at the time, and sold a lot of copies. (Apparently Byrd didn't know about this until I raised it here in discussion with another fan a couple of years ago.) I'm sure the USA album sold a fair few copies in the UK, but spread over a long period (as did, for instance, Love's Forever Changes). Ghmyrtle (talk) 08:13, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I notice you've changed the main sleeve illustration to the "paper bag". In the UK, that version was never issued (so far as I'm aware), and it's always been the other version (black with divided circle of photos) that the album has been known by. My opinion would be that the pictures would be better changed around, with the black/photos version as the main one by which it is known globally, and the paper bag version as a subsidiary illustration to show the original US issue - what do you think? Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:15, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- No big deal - see if anyone else supports my opinion. But I've modified the caption, for clarity. Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:17, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Regarding Sky High (2003 film)
[edit]Hello,
I was wondering why you removed a number of film categories from Sky High (2003 film), most notably the "action" and "martial arts film" categories for which the film clearly belongs. There's karate and katana fighting and in every other scene! LOL.
Also, if you have seen this film, as I have, you know that, at its core, it's very much a traditional romance film. Sky High is a rather unique mixture of emotional romance, fantasy ghost story, martial arts spectacular, and R-rated serial killer crime drama, all rolled into one. (Go figure, but it works.) But surely, it is an action and martial arts, fantasy film. I welcome your thoughts. Thank you for your help.

Category: Action films
[edit]I've noticed that you have removed Category:Action films from a lot of articles, especially if Category:Adventure films or Category:Western films are present (alhough sometimes those are deleted as well). I can see the reason in some cases but can you explain why in all of them. Adventure films is not (at the moment, at least) a child of the Action films category, nor vice versa. The same is true of Western films. If the Action films category is over filled, can it not be split into sub-categories by decade instead? Thanks - AdamBMorgan (talk) 12:51, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding. I've done a little searching and you're right. As far as film serials are concerned, the article Action films mentions the right period (1920s and 1930s) and the basic elements ("fights, shootouts, stunts, car chases or explosions" - one serial director's biography was titled In a Door, Into a Fight, Out a Door, Into a Chase). However, at least one published book says Action films are more modern. Action Speaks Louder by Eric Lichtenfeld (Google Books) seems to suggest 1971 as the beginning of the Action film genre. I'm not sure where this leaves serials (or any other early film with fights, shootouts etc) but I'll keep it in mind for future edits. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 18:39, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

- Hancinema to my knowledge is not a user driven site, even logged in I can't find anywhere where I can submit information about a movie. The only thing I can do is rate movies and leave comments on the messageboard.--Crossmr (talk) 22:06, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Ghost in the shellposter.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ghost in the shellposter.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 15:24, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Gosford Park movie.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Gosford Park movie.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Category:Burial albums
[edit]Hi, Andrzejbanas.
I notice you recently recreated Category:Burial albums. It's no big deal, but considering Burial only has two albums, do you really think this cat is needed?
This category was removed under CfD on a previous occasion, and the situation hasn't changed since.
And still no sign of the promised DJ Kicks album either :( --Kaini (talk) 23:47, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- no problem whatsoever then! my work with cats tends to be pretty broad brushstrokes at best. if you want to apply that to a nice chunk of albums in one assault, have a look at a little cat i maintain, Category:Ghost Box Music. --Kaini (talk) 01:09, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello! I reverted your change with as detailed an edit summary as space will allow. To elaborate a bit, the term "action film" was mentioned numerous times by various cast and crew members during the interviews included on the DVD bonus features, and I think the extended car chase scene late in the film definitely places it in that category. After hearing my explanation, I hope you'll understand and agree with my reason for classifying it as such. Thanks! LiteraryMaven (talk • contrib) 18:28, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. As I mentioned in my edit summary, the DVD case describes the film as a "political action-thriller" (as does the Sony website), and Rotten Tomatoes classifies it as Action/Adventure, so I feel comfortable classifying it as such. I did amend the classification to 2000s action films per your suggestion . . . thanks for the advice, I appreciate it! LiteraryMaven (talk • contrib) 14:31, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Allonsanfan.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Allonsanfan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. – Quadell (talk) 20:45, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

(The page for Volta is already nearly-there, if very scatterbrained) Hope you are okay and take care! Jackcocoon (talk) 06:09, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Catcreeps.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Catcreeps.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:31, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Hard Target GA review
[edit]Hi, this discussion at WT:Good article nominations/Archive 12#User:World Cinema Writer has suggested that that reviewer did not know what they are doing. I will give it a proper review sometime over the week end. Jezhotwells (talk) 04:33, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Vampyr
[edit]No worries. The reviewer is supposed to not review GANs anymore as he doesn't really seem to understand the GA criteria (messages have been left on his talk page with no replies about his reviews). After noticing a few errors, I figured I should just copyedit the whole article. If there are any similar changes that could be applied to your other film GANs (kudos for doing a Van Damme film!), try and fix those too so you don't have to worry about it when a reviewer takes a look at the article. --Happy editing! Thanks for your recent edits to Suede articles, i noticed you removed a Sputnik Music review from Dog Man Star. I was also sceptical about that source, however i have discovered several articles with the same source, i.e. Definitely Maybe by Oasis and Nirvana's In Utero, which is a featured article, plus many others. Are you sure it is not based on a genuine staff review?PhilOak (talk) 03:53, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
Oh right, i wasn't sure i thought all Sputnik reviews were all staff ones, ok then, i'll replace it with a BBC one. Thanks, i'm also a huge fan as you can probably tell, though i've been working really hard on both the debut albums, trying to keep the articles as neutral as best as i can. I would like to see these articles reviewed for GA status. I would appreciate some info on the spin article, i may add a little on that.PhilOak (talk) 04:12, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Richard Marx (album)
[edit]Hey, thanks for accepting the album as a GA nom. I've made some changed and added a source from Billboard but azm having a hard time finding other sources to put in a critical response and all that good stuff but will keep working on it throughout the week to try to ensure it becomes a GA. Not sure I agree with this edit. Allmovie might call it a "comedy drama", but I haven't seen that mentioned in any of the other sources, and I myself wouldn't call it a comedy either. While some of the sources may mention there are moments of humor, it's certainly not a central element of the film. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 14:19, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I've never really worked heavily on a film article before, so if you're interested in reviewing (either for GA or just informally) you're more than welcome—I could definitely use input from someone with film article experience. It's a great movie, too, if you can track it down somewhere. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 17:35, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Richard Marx album part two
[edit]Hi there. I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding extra things for the article but will still continue to work on it as much as I can. What do you think of the more recent editions? Does it still fall short of being a GA or do you think it could pass? Thank you for some of the work you have done yourself Jeremy (talk) 13:20, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hi there. It looks like you may have to review it the way it is. I was just looking for more information on the album but the pages I was able to find had the same review from AllMusic and a couple of them were even copied from the Wikipedia page itself. I'm sorry, I wish I had more time to work on it (getting ready to leave for work right now) but it's just not going to happen. I hope it passes GA but if it doesn't this time around, I'll renominate it at a later date after (if) I'm able to find more info to put on it. Thank you! Jeremy (talk) 23:32, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Warrior and the sorceressposter.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Warrior and the sorceressposter.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 02:32, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Hi, you may have already noticed but WikiProject Films are currently in the process of electing a number of project coordinators to serve over the next six months. Basically, the role of a coordinator is to help keep the project active and up to date, participate in relevant project discussions and wherever possible offer guidance and help to our other members. You already seem to be fairly active within the project and your mainspace contributions look fairly solid, so I think you would make a good candidate. You can find more info at the linked page above. I hope you consider putting your name forward! :) PC78 (talk) 11:33, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Jerusalema
[edit]Hello, you're good with categories, so do you know which ones I can populate Jerusalema with? Just created it today. Erik (talk | contribs | wt:film) 15:22, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! Was not sure if there were any more topically related categories than these. Erik (talk | contribs | wt:film) 15:39, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
- Someone on the talk page asked about the language, too. The thing is, I am not sure. IMDb may not have an updated page... for example, it still lists Ster-Kinekor in "company credits" even though the filmmakers did not team up with them in the end. "English" may be one of the film's languages, like Tsotsi had multiple. I'll keep an eye out for clarification. Erik (talk | contribs | wt:film) 15:49, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Dear WikiProject Video games member,
You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in the recent months.
The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.
All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:
- Editing video game-related pages in the Article namespace
- Participating in video game-related discussions in the Project namespace (WT:VG, WP:AfD, WP:GAN, etc.)
Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Hi.
I guess i was a little har on the article, apart for the short section that you mention, the only other small flaw that i find is that the personnel section is in disarray, only 3 performers are listed and the technical personnel isn`t properly separated. That`s pretty much it. Zidane tribal (talk) 19:53, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
