I can't edit the Jurassic World page, but the Indominus Rex also has "Abelisaurus" DNA in her. Someone should really add actor links to the plot section as well.

Thanks for taking the time to copy-edit the article and the suggestions to improve it on the talk page. I'll try to assess some of those points you remarked. It is one (if not my first) attempt to edit an article about a city, and it proved to be a bit of a challenge! Since the town has an interesting history, I thought it would make a good read.--GDuwenTell me! 19:40, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AmericanLemming, I'm sorry you couldn't post on my talk page; I didn't know my edit notice would cause problems with your browser—it worked fine in mine. Re: your message, I removed the blue quotation box because lengthy quotations should use either template {{blockquote}} or {{quote}}, or <blockquote> quoted text </blockquote> per WP:MOSQUOTE. The template {{quotation}} produces a blue box which looks like a formatting mistake caused by an indentation at the edge of the edit window. Also the quotation is short and can be easily integrated into normal text; setting it apart gives it undue weight and looks incongruous. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 22:41, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

International Federation for Emergency Medicine

[edit]

The talk page categories wouldn't be the appropriate ones for the main article, because they're all internal quality-assessment project categories that are meant exclusively for talk pages, while content categories are a different tree entirely.

Please don't interpret the categorization tag as a personal tweak to your nose as the creator of the article. It just puts the article into a maintenance queue that a lot of people work on, and there are typically about 100-200 articles that get left uncategorized for various reasons every single day — so if you don't already know the correct categories to file the article in, it's perfectly okay to just leave the tag there until somebody else resolves it. You're certainly free to fix it if you choose to explore the category system until you find the right ones, but it's not your responsibility to do so yourself. [edit]

Hey there... it's probably not really appropriate to pimp for reviews of other articles on FAC nomination pages. It makes the page longer and makes it more difficult for FAC coordinators to go through them since it's off-topic. You should probably remove those. It would be better to ping people directly on their talk pages if you want to ask for reviews. --Laser brain (talk) 11:30, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation join the new Physiology Wikiproject!

[edit]
Physiology gives us an understanding of how and why things in the field of medicine happen. Together, let us jumpstart the project and get it going. Our energy is all it needs.

Based on the long felt gap for categorization and improvization of WP:MED articles relating to the field of physiology, the new WikiProject Physiology has been created. WikiProject Physiology is still in its infancy and needs your help. On behalf of a group of editors striving to improve the quality of physiology articles here on Wikipedia, I would like to invite you to come on board and participate in the betterment of physiology related articles. Help us to jumpstart this WikiProject.

  • Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
  • You can tag the talk pages of relevant articles with {{WikiProject Physiology|class=|importance=}} with your assessment of the article class and importance alongwith. Please note that WP:Physiology, WP:Physio, WP:Phy can be used interchangeably.
  • You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing physiology articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
  • We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
  • Why not try and strive to create a good article! Physiology related articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!
  • Your contributions to the WikiProject page, related categories and templates is also welcome.
  • To invite other editors to this WikiProject, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • To welcome editors of physiology articles, copy and past this template (with the signature):
  • You can feel free to contact us on the WikiProkect Physiology talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. You can also put your suggestions there and discuss the scope of participation.

Hoping for your cooperation! DiptanshuTalk 12:47, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GA Cup

[edit]

AL, Round 3 is almost over, Round 4 is about to begin, and we continue to have success with the GA Cup. We need to figure out some statistics for Round 3, so I thought that asking for your contribution would be a good idea. Your feedback last month was very valuable, and I think it motivated our contestants. Have you seen any results from our efforts? I've noticed, for example, that the articles in the pink backlog box at GAN seem to have been nominated more recently. IOW, the backlag times have seem to be shorter. Of course, that's just my observation; I don't have any real evidence for that. If you could substantiate my observation, or if you have any other effects from this Round, that would be very helpful, and something that I could put in the Round 4 newsletter that'll be published next week. Thanks, and happy New Year. Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 18:37, 27 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was just wondering. How active are you these days around here, AmericanLemming? Would you be interested in some more collaborative work on another GA proposal? I have an idea in mind, somewhat similar to our successful Treblinka nomination. Too bad User:Khazar2 is no longer active to complete our team, but I also know that you'd probably find a good match for a replacement, since you're the sole creator of User:AmericanLemming/Noteworthy Wikipedians. All best to you, Poeticbent talk 14:38, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking, Poeticbent. I log in to Wikipedia every day to look at my watchlist and do a little copy-editing (fixing typos, rewording awkward sentences), but that's about it. I would love to collaborate with you again, as I really enjoyed working with you on the Treblinka article, but I simply don't have the time to go through an entire article in a week because of my schoolwork. However, if you aren't in a hurry, I could slowly read and copy-edit an article in a month or two. Anyway, let me know what the article is, and I'll let you know whether or not I have enough time to work on it and how long it would take me to go through it. The Teamwork Barnstar
To AmericanLemming for seeing the problem and the idea for a solution; to Hog Farm for grabbing the bull by the horns and running with it; and to GreenC for setting up fambot to create the report at Wikipedia:Featured articles/mismatches that will save all of us many hours of searching for that missing or extra star populating the Featured article categories. Thank you for the speedy solution to a problem spanning more than a decade. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 23:49, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Words in Commons

[edit]

Hi AmericanLemming, Merry Christmas! I was just checking "By the numbers" at The Signpost. One thing I can't figure out is 0.25 words per Commons article. Every Commons pic I look at has much more than that! My guess is that it has to do with the extensive use of templates there. I'll suggest finding an answer there and commenting on it - or just remove Commons from that table. BTW, I'm going to put back that sentence about the length of German words. Bri should love that! I'm off for my annual Christmas vacation, so @Bri: will take the editing from here. Smallbones(smalltalk) 03:27, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

External academic review and publication of Wikipedia pages

[edit]

Hi Lemming. In case you'd not come across it before, I thought I'd message to ask whether there are any Wikipedia articles that you'd be interested in creating/updating/overhauling and submitting for external, academic peer review.

The WikiJournal of Science (www.wikijsci.org) couples the rigour of academic peer review with the extreme reach of the encyclopedia. For existing Wikipedia articles, it's a great way to get additional feedback from external experts. Peer-reviewed articles are dual-published both as standard academic PDFs, as well as having changes integrated back into Wikipedia. This improves the scientific accuracy of the encyclopedia, and rewards authors with citable, indexed publications. It also provides much greater reach than is normally achieved through traditional scholarly publishing.

Note that we do have to publish under real names, so if you don't want your real name associated to your username, you may have to choose atopic that your username has not previously edited.

Anyway, let me know whether you'd be interested in putting an article through academic peer review (either solo, or with a team of coauthors).
