Low level administrative territorial subdivision units
Greetings. Pardon the interruption, but do you know any information involving administrative territorial subdivision units below the district (or madiria) level within the nation of Yemen? Such as the following:
- sub-district-level division units [city municipalities (baladiat almadina or madun) & sub-districts (uzla)]
- populated place units [villages (qariyya), neighborhoods (hayy), localities (almahaliyat/makan), settlements (almustawtanat), communities (mujtamaeat), hamlets (alnujue), etc.]
- sub-populated place units [blocks (hara) & mallahahs (mallaha)]
If so, lemme know. It's for a research project. Thanks in advance. jlog3000 (talk) 15:23, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- As far as my knowledge can go, you've listed everything I know about administrative divisions in Yemen
- these are the administrative divisions of yemen from the highest to the lowest divisions:
- Governorates (Muhafazah, arabic: محافظة): Yemen is divided into several governorates, which are the highest administrative divisions in the country.
- Districts (Mudiriah, arabic: مديرية): Each governorate is further divided into districts.
- Sub-districts (Uzlah, arabic: عزلة): Below the district level, there are sub-districts.
- City municipalities (Baladiat al-Madina or Mudun, arabic: بلدية المدينة/مدن): Some urban areas have a special administrative status known as city municipalities.
- Populated place units:
- Villages (Qariyya, arabic: قرية): Smaller settlements with rural characteristics.
- Neighborhoods (Hayy, arabic: حي): Urban areas subdivided into neighborhoods.
- Localities (Al-Mahaliyat/Makan, arabic: محل/مكان): Generic term referring to specific locations or places.
- Settlements (Al-Mustawtanat, arabic: المستوطنات): General term for any inhabited place, including towns and villages.
- Communities (Mujtamaeat, arabic: المجمعات): Refers to social or tribal communities.
- Hamlets (Al-Nujue, arabic: النجوع): Small settlements, often smaller than villages.
- Sub-populated place units:
- Blocks (Harat, arabic: حارة): Smaller divisions within urban areas, similar to neighborhoods.
- Mallahahs (Mallaha, arabic: ملحة): Term referring to smaller units or quarters within a larger locality.
- It's basically what you've sent but with their meanings along with them. Good luck on your project! Abo Yemen✉ 15:42, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- No disrespect, and although what you said clearly is fact; but my point was if there is any information of some lists that contain these lower level units after districts (i.e.: names of the sub-districts & villages, etc.), as I couldn't yet find any such in some statistical bureaus/institutes in that regard. Hope this clarifies things a bit more accurate. jlog3000 (talk) jlog3000 (talk) 16:01, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- i don't really understand what are you asking for.
- are you asking for names of villages, Neighborhoods, etc. or are you asking if there are any more sub-divisions other than the ones you've listed above? Abo Yemen✉ 16:37, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- Clearly I am asking for lists of the names of all the populated place units/areas based on every of those lower sub-division levels after the districts. And it doesn't have to be involved with population and/or area stats. jlog3000 (talk) 16:42, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- before i send the names, There are these newly made "Federal Regions" that are going to be implemented in the next Yemeni constitution. They are above governorates in the list we made above and they have been announced in the National Dialogue Conference. you can find more info about them in Federalization of Yemen. Abo Yemen✉ 16:49, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- I see, I never knew about that sub-division level over the governorates. But I'm happy to hear that it also exist, which I thank you for sharing that thought. And just curious, but what is the Arabic name of 'federal regions' (singular and plural alike), in a Latin alphabet transliterated version might I add? Issues with Hadhrami Bedouin Legion
Please do not move this draft to mainspace again until you have added appropriate reliable sources. All content on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable, and no original research is allowed. I also saw that you tried to bypass WP:NPP. That's quite clearly inappropriate, and it doesn't work. If you have any questions about this draft or the relevant guidelines, or I can help you some other way, please let me know. Actualcpscm (talk) 19:27, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- Yes i have some questions like how am i going to get sources if the article is translated from the arabic wiki? Abo Yemen✉ 03:01, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Different wikis have different standards for sourcing and verifiability. I’m not sure about how the Arabic wiki handles this, but the English wiki requires all content to be verifiable at reliable sources. That means you’ll need to find appropriate sources for the English article, even though it might be allowed on the Arabic wiki in its current form. Wikipedia is not itself a reliable source. Maybe you could find a historical report or a book on this topic? Actualcpscm (talk) 06:36, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- i have found several websites online talking about this topic like these: [1][2]
- and this pdf: [3]
- can I use them as sources? Abo Yemen✉ 08:41, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- That's a good start. Unfortunately, the first one (britishempire.co.uk) is not a reliable source; it's practically a blog, which the author acknowledges here under "The Purpose of the Site". The other two are, if I'm interpreting correctly, WP:PRIMARY sources, which isn't optimal. You can still use them for backing up factual claims, but it's probably not enough to build an article out of. Fyi, it's completely fine to use sources that aren't written in English; for instance, if the article on the Arabic wiki has appropriate sources, you can also use those. Actualcpscm (talk) 09:36, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- the arabic article uses an arabic book as a source and it is only used once Abo Yemen✉ 09:44, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hm. I don‘t know the policies and guidelines of the Arabic wiki, but that‘s probably not enough (on its own) to satisfy WP:V and particularly WP:N. Still, if it‘s a reliable source, it can certainly be used. Actualcpscm (talk) 11:31, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- also while we're at it, how can i use images from other sites like the britishempire.co.uk in the article that i am making Abo Yemen✉ 09:46, 2 August 2023 (UTC)

Abo Baker Salem's birth
Also I noticed you changed the birth state of Abu Baker Salem -- while I'm aware there's an edit war with ips in Saudi Arabia constantly addending him to be "Saudi" and divorcing him of his Yemeni origins, he was indeed born in the time of the Kathiri's rule of Tarim. Help editing "tribe" section on Tarim
Hey
There seems to be a lot of uncited, folk wisdom about tribes in the "tribes" section of Tarim. I have access to English language sources about Ba' Alawi, Shanafir, and Bani Dhannah, and I can add their collective histories in Tarim to the article, but I would appreciate your initial input and trailblazing in that topic as I don't currently live in Hadhramaut and I don't have access to reliable Arabic-language sources about them. - @Mehrashehra I, too, am not living there at the moment and i am probably not the best person to ask for help in this tribal stuff. Hello, I'm Shadowwarrior8. At least one or more of your edits in the page Southern Transitional Council have been reverted. These were difficult to distinguish from Disprutive Editing since you have removed large amount of sourced content backed up by Reliable sources. To help other editors understand the reason for the changes, you can use an edit summary for your contributions.
Note that Wikipedia is not censored. "Wikipedia may contain content that some readers consider objectionable or offensive". "Removing encyclopedic content without any reason" constitutes Vandalism and users who engage in vandalism "may be blocked indefinitely without warning". You can also take a look at the welcome page to understand editing in this encyclopedia. Thank you. shadowwarrior8 (talk) 11:45, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, responding to your reversion of my reversion of an edit by MdFahad00 to Ibb. I had put in my edit summary that "the one ref, to asiaexplore, does not look reliable". You asked why I said that. I had checked the About page of asiaexplore and was not clear that there was a fact-checking policy. Writers are not named. Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please refrain from using talk pages such as Talk:2023 Israel–Hamas war for general discussion of this or other topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways, based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines; they are not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See the talk page guidelines for more information. As noted above, the Arab-Israeli conflict is considered a contentious topic. Using Wikipedia as a battleground can result in a loss of editing privileges. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from South Yemen into Islamic socialism. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Ninja Diannaa (Talk) 15:08, 17 October 2023 (UTC)

Aadam Hamed has been moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Aadam Hamed, is not suitable as written to remain published. The boxer only has one professional fight, did not compete at any international amateur competitions and has not fouight for a major world title. Furthermore, at Wikipedia, notability is not inherited, so him being the son of a legend does not make him notable enough for an article.I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline (ex, if he fights for a British, European or world title) and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Antonio Pretty in Prince, Molly Ringwald Naseem Hamed Martin (loser's talk page) 23:53, 10 September, 2023 (UTC)

Abo Yemen✉ 10:32, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Procedural decline as, since your account isn't blocked directly, you can edit from another IP. And we usually don't lift P2P proxy blocks for one user (and for that same reason I can't soften that block either as allowing logged-in users would defeat the purpose of blocking the proxy). What I can do is direct you to WP:IPECPROXY where there are instructions for requesting IP block exemption by email so this won't be an issue. It may take a while; just letting you know (And I do apologize for this ... it seems like this issue has, over the past few years, affected a disordinate amount of editors in good standing from the Arabian Peninsula, particularly Yemen, since it seems that a lot of ISPs there have decided to offer this sort of service to users elsewhere in the world for understandable financial reasons, regardless of the effect it has on those of us working to prevent abuse and misuse of the Internet and people like you caught in that crossfire). — Daniel Case (talk) 11:11, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

Yemeni Civil War map - orange area
Hello Abo Yemen. I see that you are Yemeni and made some edits to the Yemeni civil war (2014–present) article and its Yemeni Civil War map. In this map there's a small orange area between the yellow and pink areas, near the coast, near the city of Al Mukalla. It is not described in the English legend (on the file and on English Wikipedia), but on the file's Catalan, German, Greek and Arabic legends it says it's "Controlled by supporters of Ali Abdullah Saleh". But Saleh was killed in 2017. Is this orange area correct? Human Transistor (talk) 01:50, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Human Transistor the orange area refers to the lands controled by both the Republic of yemen and the STC. Sorry for the confusion Abo Yemen✉ 04:04, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Abo Yemen I asked another user who also edits the article and the map and he also said it was controlled by both the government and STC. Lets hope someone fixes the legends. Thank you. Human Transistor (talk) 08:43, 21 December 2023 (UTC)

As I said in Houthi involvement in the Israel–Hamas war, this conflict is mainly focused on how Houthi involved in war in Israel. Chief's Commissioner's Province of Aden
You've moved the title of that article to Aden Settlement. I reverted that move.
Read the article, no need to be a brain surgeon to notice that it deals only with the 1933-1937 period, and does not include, as you claim, the Aden Settlement period, which lasted from 1839 to 1933. Lubiesque (talk) 13:39, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

- @JBW replying to this: All I did was move a paragraph from one section to another. As far as I am aware, It is not considered edit warring? I also opened a section for us to reach a consensus as long as the original research stuff gets removed from the article, which is why this started in the first place and you've been ignoring all along Abo Yemen✉ 15:45, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- In each of these edits: [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] you removed the same content from the article. That is edit-warring. The last of those edits was after you had warned another editor about the same edit-war, and also after I had informed you that the only reason I had removed the block on your account was that you had not continued the edit war after posting that warning. That being so how could you possibly not expect to be blocked when you did continue the edit-war? And no, you did not just "move a paragraph from one section to another"; you removed content of the article. JBW (talk) 16:13, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- @JBW Okay this is embarrassing but I didn't realise that the text that I removed in my last edit that you've linked was a part of the edit war i was involved in as all i was doing was restoring the article to buhadram's edit. The "move a paragraph from one section to another" was referring to this edit, which i taught was the reason for the block. Now, I didn't mean to engage in the edit war again as it was a mistake, I'll be sure to start a discussion in the talkpage of any article before reverting any edits once again, which is what I should have done in the first place. Abo Yemen✉ 16:23, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- Many editors avoid these situations by adopting a voluntary 1R rule where they agree to only revert once on any article. If you are planning on making an unblock request, you might consider adopting that habit. Liz Read! Talk! 04:15, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Request reason:
Although point No. 7 in WP:3RRBLP states that what i have done in Ba 'Alawi sada was completely fine, edit warring wasn't the best way for me to deal with original research, I should've started a discussion on the talk page or bring it up to the BLP noticeboard if the other editor did not want to discuss it (To kabul's credit, he did try to discuss the OR he kept on adding to the article).
I will voluntary adopt the WP:1RR regardless of whether my unblock request get accepted or not.
