- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: I can always ask. FWIW, I don't think this actually came from Chile, even though WorldCat doesn't show any other holdings, so it's possible that the librarians may be able to find a more local source for whatever you're wanting. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 04:28, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Compassionate727:OK, thanks. The article in question is this one (archived version), for Nevado Sajama. I've been looking for that source for years. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:10, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: That is a thesis for a licenciatura (licentiate), a degree which in Bolivia seems roughly equivalent to a Master's; no wonder you haven't been able to find it. Quite apart from the fact that my library probably cannot obtain such an item, I rather doubt it meets RS requirements. (In particular, the fact that a "tutor" is listed along with the actual authors gives me pause.) —Compassionate727 (T·C) 15:52, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Compassionate727:Huh. I've seen some other publications using it as a source (example) but if it can't be accessed w/o actually going to that university it's probably pointless. Thanks anyway. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:27, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

@Jo-Jo Eumerus: Well, requesting theses via ILL isn't particularly difficult at my institution, so I can try. But again, are you sure a master's thesis meets RS requirements? —Compassionate727 (T·C) 18:23, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Compassionate727:Sometimes they do when they are frequently cited; that Sajama article is used by these four sources here for what it's worth, the first two of which are themselves somewhat widely cited (Bolivian volcanism is not a well researched subject). Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:25, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Requested. Also, I will hopefully scan this request… soon. Worst case scenario, I need to return that book by December 5, so it will happen by then. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 15:23, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Ack. Okay, there is a risk that the thesis won't arrive before my winter break starts due to the long shipping time from Bolivia, so my librarians and I have agreed to delay the request until after New Year's. It may or may not be waiting for me when I return on January 14. (All of that is said under the assumption that the University will loan the thesis, which I'm told they might not.) —Compassionate727 (T·C) 15:44, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

This map is listed at the National Library of Israel, but unusually they don't have it online. Which is a pity since the quality would probably be much superior. Zerotalk 01:09, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
To editor Drmies: Look here: https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b7200261r Zerotalk 01:18, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
- Wow, that's awesome, Zero0000. Can we still simply take their stuff, the BNF's stuff? Drmies (talk) 01:27, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
- Gallica has "conditions of use" here. Google's translation of the relevant part is "The non-commercial re-use of these contents is free in accordance with the legislation in force and in particular the maintenance of the mention of source of the contents as specified below: "Source gallica.bnf.fr / Bibliothèque nationale de France "Or" Source gallica.bnf.fr / BnF". I doubt if even that is legally compulsory, but it won't hurt to avoid antagonising them. I'm going to try joining the high-res views. Zerotalk 01:43, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
- To editor Drmies: Try the joined image on the right. Unfortunately the high(er)-res images don't include the upper left corner, so I had to fill it in using the low-res image, meaning that the writing up there is blury. Zerotalk 02:51, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
- Zero, I'm speechless. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 03:07, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Entry on Anne Senechal Faust from Who's Who in America
[edit]According to Google Books there should be a biographical entry on Anne Senechal Faust in Marquis Who's Who in America 60th edition, Vol. I: A-L, 2006 on page 1418. It is possible to look whether this is correct and could you please send me a copy of this entry? I know Who's Who in America can be find in the Internet Archive but unfortunately only volume two of this edition is online availabe, but volume I unfortunately not. For de:Anne Senechal Faust. Thanks alot. --Melly42 (talk) 11:14, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
- Melly42, I don't know what the rules are on dewiki, but here on enwiki Marquis Who's Who is not considered a reliable source (see WP:RSP). buidhe 12:16, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
- The question should be whether the life data (date of birth, place of birth) or personal data (e.g. marriage) from Who's Who are correctly compiled and could be used for an article. And who has checked all the Who's Who versions to claim that all data in this work are not reliable? For my understanding the consensus refers only to a notability of a person and not to the compiled data in general. --Melly42 (talk) 13:23, 25 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Buidhe and Melly42:
"As most of its content is provided by the person concerned, editors generally consider Marquis Who's Who comparable to a self-published source."

Men in nursing on television: exposing and reinforcing stereotypes

[edit]{{resolved}} Has anyone access to O'Malley, John W. (2013). Hall, Marcia B.; Cooper, Tracy E. (eds.). The Sensuous in the Counter-Reformation Church. Cambridge University Press. p. ??. ISBN 978-1-107-01323-0.[page needed]? I only need the page number for two witnesses required for marriage. It is cited as page 31, which [failed verification]. - Tgeorgescu, Judging from Google books search, the book may not contain this information. buidhe 18:27, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Buidhe: O'Malley did write about the Council of Trent and two witnesses for marriage, see e.g.:
- O'Malley, John W. (15 January 2013). Trent: What Happened at the Council. Harvard University Press. p. 225. ISBN 978-0-674-06760-8.
- O’Malley, John (22 May 2013). The Council of Trent. Myths, Misunderstandings and Unintended Consequences. Gregorian Biblical BookShop. p. 6. ISBN 978-88-7839-255-7.
- The problem with Google Books is that it does not show all pages and search offers only one result per book, instead of many. Tgeorgescu (talk) 13:08, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Tgeorgescu: I read the 53 pages of The Sensuous in the Counter-Reformation Church identified in its index as concerning the Council of Trent. None of them say anything about two witnesses being required for marriage, or anything else for which the book is cited in Marriage and Christian views on marriage. O'Malley wrote about the Council of Trent and marriage, but not in this book. The closest it comes is the sentence on page 37, "The final meeting of the deputation, 21 January [1564], dealt, for instance, with questions about benefices, marriage dispensations, the diocesan and provincial synods the Council had mandated, and similar matters." I don't think the Resource Exchange can do anything more for you regarding this book. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:05, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Annual list of publications on Agrarian History, 2017
[edit]Greetings, has someone access to this publication?
For 1257 Samalas eruption, according to Google Scholar somewhere in there there should be a mention of "Samalas"
Thanks, Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:26, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: Freely available here. --Gazal world (talk) 17:17, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: do you mean the Annual list published in 2017, which is for 2015, or the list for 2017, published in 2019? Anyway, they are on Ingenta Connect at Annual list of publications on Agrarian History, 2015 and Annual list of publications on Agrarian History, 2017. DuncanHill (talk) 17:39, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Huh. That does not mention Samalas at all but Google Scholar is not exactly helpful; according to them the citation is "McShane, Peter. "Annual list of publications on Agrarian History, 2017." Agricultural History Review 67.1 (2019): 124-136." Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 18:01, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: That's the second one I listed, so you'll need someone with Ingenta Connect access. DuncanHill (talk) 18:14, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: You're trying to use the annual list of publications to figure out which article you need, right? FWIW, I did an all-fields search for "Samalas" within journal "Agricultural History Review" on EBSCO and found nothing. Assuming EBSCO's search engine is reliable (which it usually is), that means that there aren't any articles anywhere in that journal that contain that name in either their title or their abstracts. (I manually confirmed that there was nothing that appeared relevant in either issue published in 2017.) I'm not sure what you're hoping to find. Can you provide the Google Scholar entry you're working from? —Compassionate727 (T·C) 19:32, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: That strikes me as dubious, but I can't prove anything because Google doesn't appear to support a boolean "AND" operator in the same way it supports the OR one. But surely that wasn't how you initially landed here? —Compassionate727 (T·C) 20:30, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Compassionate727:Huh. The "AND" operator work for me and it was on a page here. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 20:42, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Jo-Jo Eumerus: You can type the "AND" operator, but as far as I can tell it doesn't affect your search results. (Compare without and with: different order, but the results are mostly the same and I get results that don't have both even with the operator. Also, "Sierra Lee"AND"rabbit" gives no results, whereas Google understands that the OR in "Sierra Lee"OR"rabbit" is an operator and treats the two quoted phrases as separate items.) But I can't argue with the fact that the citation appears in a Google scholar search of Salamas, although I'm not convinced that this proves there's an article about Salamas somewhere in that journal. —Compassionate727 (T·C) 20:53, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

PS. @Eyer: I'm writing another article and there's also 1 New York Times article. I thought you might have it too. It's September 24, 1935, Section SOCIAL NEWS, Page 26 about Mabel Ellery Adams Thank you in advance! Less Unless (talk) 23:04, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Less Unless: If you've received the first five, please strike them so that it's clear what you still want (or mark the thread {{resolved}} if you have everything you need). There are 29 articles on page 26 of the September 24, 1935 issue. Would you care to say what other subject you're writing about, so that volunteers have a reasonable hope of sending you the right article? --Worldbruce (talk) 04:02, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- Dear, Worldbruce. I have certainly read the rules and would have marked the thread as resolved, but I am still waiting for the issues. Eyer has kindly agreed to provide me with the sources I needed, however I didn't get a notification from Wikipedia when they replied, so I was 5 days late with my answer and Eyer has taken a break for now (which is stated at their user page). Therefore I still haven't got them and decided not to mark the case resolved until it actually is. As for the second request - I didn't know the information is sent per article as usually the pages are scanned and sent per page. For now I have added the name of the subject I am willing to write about. Thank you for the tip. --Less Unless (talk) 14:19, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Less Unless: Many of us here can supply material from The New York Times archives. Unless you especially want to wait for Eyer, email me, and I'll reply with all six attached within a matter of minutes. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:08, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Worldbruce: I will gladly accept those from you. It was my first time here so I didn't know exactly how it should work. As Eyer offered them, I thought I had to wait for them. Thank you for help. Less Unless (talk) 15:18, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Less Unless: Sorry that I'm late to the ballgame. I was traveling this past week and just got back to my computer where I received the Wikimail. —Eyer (If you reply, add

- @Less Unless: sent #6 as plain text. --Worldbruce (talk) 15:00, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
