Scope

[edit]

Las Vegas, Nevada is a fast growing and constantly changing city. It is our goal to keep the articles directly related to Las Vegas and the surrounding valley up-to-date. Focusing on updating and improving articles related to Las Vegas, including notability, fact finding, images, and use of templates for similar look-and-feel.

Definitions

[edit]

For reasons brevity, a common acronym is used on this page is CHR, short for:

Casino(s), Hotel(s) and Resort(s)

And should be inclusive of the following as they pertain to Las Vegas.

Attraction(s) and event(s)

For general clarification and communications, the following definitions from Dictionary.com are provided:

Casino: A public room or building for gambling.
Hotel: An establishment that provides lodging travelers and other paying guests. (Usually requires entering a main lobby for room access)
Motel: An establishment that provides lodging ... usually having direct access to an open parking area.
Resort: A place frequented by people for relaxation or recreation.
Although, for Las Vegas, this term is applied to resorts that offer lodging, food, gaming, entertainment and frequently include additional activities such as shopping, swimming, spa or night life.

Hierarchy definition

[edit]

No classification of this project has been defined.

Goals

[edit]
  1. Maintain up–to–date accurate information.
    1. Common items that change frequently include: population, CHR ownership, name, room count, attractions and restaurants.
  2. Create a standard naming convention for CHR article titles.
  3. Create a easy navigation system of CHRs.
  4. Maintain a logical categorization for the location of CHRs.

Projects

[edit]
  1. List all categories currently being used
  2. Identify main articles and what should be in each
  3. Create a simple definition of the area being covered, like is BC included or not. Or maybe keep a list here of all communities included.

Open tasks

[edit]

Things you can do

  • Current collaborations:
  1. Create an article listing known CHRs, cities and other attractions. Possibly at Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Las Vegas.
  2. Create Templates:
    1. Create a template {{LV Resort}} with primary information (room count, location, owner, market (NASDAQ/NYSE), attractions, restaurants...) to be included into articles. See discussion on /Templates.
    2. Create a short template {{LV nav}}? with links to lists (ie: Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Las Vegas, List of Las Vegas attractions) See discussion on /Templates.
  3. Expand articles: See: Articles needing expansion
  4. Cleanup articles: Las Vegas Valley
  5. Create articles: See: Articles to be created

Adopt an article

[edit]

Similar to the Collaboration of the week, but on a smaller scale, you might want to "adopt" an article. This would involve doing the research, writing, and picture-taking (if possible) for either a non-existent article or a stub. Of course, everyone else can still edit an adopted article, and you can work on other things too, but the idea is to find a focus for a while, to try and build up the number of quality articles the Project has produced.
