- A contest has begun in order to improve our Wikipedia 0.7 Release Version articles prior to their publication in December. Many awards are available, including several prestigous competitive ones. However, the vast majority are participation-based and proportional, meaning that more improvements equals more awards. With over 200 articles to choose from, we anticipate that active editors can easily obtain considerable "lucre" well before the December 1st deadline, and look forward to seeing you all there.
- The third election for the project's coordinators ended last week. The election had eight candidates vying for seven positions. Although Erik received the most votes, he has passed on the lead coordinator position to the incumbent, Girolamo Savonarola, who will now serve for his third consecutive term. The coordinators will continue to work in improving the project's various departments, guidelines, and articles through discussion and member interaction. Based on the results, the elected coordinators are:
- Bzuk (second term)
- Girolamo Savonarola (lead coordinator; third term)
- Ecoleetage
- Erik (second term)
- Nehrams2020 (third term)
- Sephiroth BCR
- Steve
- Our project now has nearly 46,000 film-related articles that have been assessed by our assessment department! Remember to always add the {{Film|class=}} template to a film article's talk page so the project can get a better idea of what work still needs to be done. Below is a table showing a breakdown of our articles by class. If you're interested in viewing our project's progress in relation to other projects, see here.
- Two new task forces were created recently: A Baltic films task force and Nordic films task force. Both task forces currently have limited membership and would benefit from new interested members to help with expansion. If you would like to help, please sign up on the task forces' pages. These additions brings our list of potential task forces that you can join up to 22!
- Our project has finished reviewing all of the B-class articles needing review, which was initially at 1,000 articles. With the expansion of the standards within our project concerning sourcing, broadness, and reliability of sources, the total number of B-class articles has been reduced to about 250 articles. The majority of these articles are very close to GA status, and just need some minor or significant changes to get there. If interested, consider adopting an article or two from this category and advancing it to GA status.
- A discussion is taking place in the community about whether or not to keep external links in film infoboxes since the links already exist in the "External links" section of film articles. Come by and share your thoughts!
- If you haven't already, remember to update your status as per the project's roll call. If you still consider yourself active with the project, please move your name over to the active list.
