Buddha Bar

This article was deleted in 2011 for lack of notability (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Buddha Bar). I have dug around and found a few sources which I believe do establish notability for the establishment/series of compilation records that it has put out. Specifically, I cite:

  • Wolfgang Spahr, "The Year in Music 2001 - Critic's Choice", Billboard (December 29, 2001), Vol. 113, No. 52, p. 39:

Claude Challe, Buddha Bar (George V.). The legendary master of pop and dance music in France has aroused the attention of the global chill-out community with this series of mixed compilations. Buddha Bar is not only a good restaurant in France but also one of the best music experiments to come out of France in the past few years.

  • Anthony D'Andrea, Global Nomads: Techno and New Age as Transnational Countercultures in Ibiza and Goa (2007), p. 93:

Charles Challe quit his partnership in 1993 and returned to Paris where he subsequently opened the internationally acclaimed Buddha Bar. Like the Ibiza sibling, Buddha Bar was devised as an upscale bar—restaurant with an orientalist 'lounge' ambience, and soon became a reference among foreign yuppies and wealthy tourists visiting the city. Similarly to Café del Mar, Buddha Bar also released CD compilations featuring 'lounge,' 'world' music, a successful enterprise that suggests the striking inequalities associated with the commodification of Third-World art: whereas cassette tapes of Pakistani singer Nusrat Ali Khan are sold in India for about US$1, the same songs remixed within a deluxe Buddha Bar CD are priced in the West at about US$50.

However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. "David Landis (public relations executive)"

I would like to write a new article about David Landis, who is a business executive and major mover and shaker in the San Francisco non-profit world. He has also been a good friend to the LGBT community. A previous article about Mr. Landis was deleted because of "unambiguous advertising or promotion." I do not know Mr. Landis and have not met him, but he's a positive and high-profile force in my corner of the world, and so I wish to create an article. I have no connection with the deleted article and I have neither read, nor care to read or amend the deleted article. I don't know how old the article was when it was deleted. I'm sure that I'm approaching a new article about Mr. Landis from a very different angle. Please let me know if I may submit a new article and how to go about it. Thanks in advance. -Bbmusicman (talk) 23:29, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

You don't need the blessing of administrators here to create a new article, but I would suggest you do it at Articles for creation so that it won't as readily be deleted if it turns out to be noncompliant. As for wanting the text of the old article, admins won't restore unambiguous adverts, but I'm certain one could send you the text of the article at time of deletion if you want to see where the last try went wrong. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 23:36, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Alexys Nycole Sanchez

Comment from deleting admin - you don't get a Wikipedia article if you're "up and coming". You must have already arrived. Exactly what part of WP:ACTORBIO does this person meet? Except for the MTV award for "best line" the other awards listed are for the shows, not for the actress. ~Amatulić (talk) 19:30, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

  • I'd like to add a couple of things in case Gregory Nichols is still reading this. First, I misread the article. I thought it said that Nichols had won the Pritzker award, which, of course, is not true. Actually, it said that Nichols studied with Mayne and that Mayne won the award, which is true. I apologize for my implication that Nichols was making a false claim. That said, if I had read it correctly, I would still have deleted it per A7. Second, the article is not music-related. Not sure where that comes from, perhaps from the architecture firm whose name is Morphosis, which, to this untutored user, sounds like the name of a band. :-)--Bbb23 (talk) 15:46, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

@Jéské Couriano: Non-admin AFC reviewer here: AFC is the one place where editors with a conflict of interest can "create" whole articles. Part of the job of the reviewer is to make sure the article is suitable for Wikipedia. There is a strong consensus in the AFC community that submissions which are deleted through G13 should be restored upon request unless another speedy-deletion criteria applies or (possibly) that it would be pointless to restore the submission because either an article exists and there is nothing worth copying over, or the topic or submission is hopelessly unsuitable. Unless one of these conditions apply, please restore the page. Please add an {{afc comment}} to the top section stating that Mbootmontage appears to have a conflict of interest. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 03:16, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

File:Tnagenesis2005.jpg

Okay, I've been inactive for several months now and wasn't aware this file was deleted along with several several others that had been removed from their articles. To give a long explanation, I am the only editor of TNA PPV articles. There are minor editors who do things but I am the only one who expands them and takes them to GA. I've been working on expanding Genesis (2005) in a subpage. It currently exists only as a redirect with a list of results in the main article TNA Genesis. There are several events that have the same format as they don't establish notability as just a list of results. Each had a PPV with a rationale attached for the article. A user removed each one citing fair-use not to be used in lists. It appears after they were removed, they were deleted as routine maintenance, as far as I can tell. Well there isn't exactly replacements for these images that I am aware of that can be used under the fair-use rationale. These images came from In Demand or TNA for the most part. Seeing as I'm expanding the article for which this poster belongs, I need it to be reinstated if possible. The rest of the images can wait for now, though it would be nice if they were all reinstated as well. I can provide a list if needed. -WillC 13:07, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

  • I have a list of files that have been deleted for the same reason as above. I'd like this image reinstated by the first if possible as that is when I will have Genesis done in my subpage.--WillC 09:11, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

It seems that there are too many Editors and not enough Contributors.

Wikipedia is losing it's way.

The previous CEO had other parts of their background that when combined with becoming CEO of BT, he was then sufficiently notable for an article. This is why the WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is very dangerous - you cannot compare apples to kiwis. You are, correct, that someday in the future he may be notable enough for an article. I would suspect that userfication might be appropriate so that you can build the article as more comes out over the next half-year or so, but you would have to ensure that you a) don't treat it like a live article, and b) don't move it into articlespace until you have checked with a couple of editors who are well-versed in notability and biographies ES&L 12:44, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Not done - this article has not been restored because it does not appear to meet our guidelines for inclusion of articles about companies. In general, Wikipedia considers a topic to be notable if there exist multiple reliable sources of information on the topic, external to the subject itself. Articles concerning companies will be deleted on sight if they are considered to be unambiguous advertising or promotion, or if they do not contain a credible assertion of the significance of the subject. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/NADCA

I, Lantzra, request the undeletion of this Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please userfy or restore as appropriate. Please restore the previously deleted submission so that I can edit and bring it into compliance with Wikipedia standards. Sorry for the delay in editing, thanks for your consideration. Richard Lantz Board of Directors National Air Duct Cleaners Association Lantzra (talk) 14:31, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Not done because this submission was substantially copied from NADCA's 20th Anniversary Book. Wikipedia cannot host copied material, even in an AfC page, unless a formal copyright release has first been made. No doubt you could make such a release, but there would be no point because this material is quite unsuitable for an encyclopedia article - Wikipedia is not a noticeboard for organizations to tell the world about themselves, and that Anniversary Book is NADCA positively beating its chest to tell the world how great it is. That is fine for your book or your website, but an encyclopedia article would be nothing like that. You need to start with a clean sheet of paper. More advice on your talk page in a day or two: start by reading the Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and the guide to writing WP:Your first article. the article was reposted as per suggestions of [3], I believe it should be given a fair and neutral review. -Mr RD (talk) 13:12, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Have you pointed this out to the deleting admin, RHaworth (talk · contribs)? ~Amatulić (talk) 19:39, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
The page was already deleted before my seeing it. Also the page was nominated for deletion due to suspicion of paid editing by me. I have already explained myself here and also I am not the original creator of the page, I just reposted the article as I know the event personally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr RD (talkcontribs) 17:12, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

This article was reinstated after being deleted, following the specific instructions of person who deleted it. then it was once again deleted by someone that will not give answers as to why it was deleted, or suggestions of how to edit the article to fit this person's standards -Scoocher16 (talk) 20:02, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Not done. That is not what the record shows. The only edit you made to the userfied article before re-posting it was to add more promotional language like "she burst onto the scene" and "back by popular demand". Wikipedia is not a place for you to promote your client. As you are "part of Miss Ratchford's management team" you should not be writing about here here - read WP:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Once she is more than an "aspiring actress", someone not connected with her will no doubt write an article. JohnCD (talk) 12:09, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Utterly ridiculous. I edited the entire opening paragraph, as per request by original deleter, and the article was reinstated. How do you come to the conclusion the the following terms are "promotional" ... "she burst onto the scene" and "back by popular demand"??

Scoocher16 (talk) 18:59, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

We call that WP:PUFFERY. Nothing in the third party reliable sources stated that she was "back by popular demand" or that she "burst onto the scene" - those are phrases reserved for use by either promotional departments or sensationalist news. Hey, she may become notable this year - ask for it to be userfied, work on it for a few months, touch base with a few trusted senior editors who understand the type of writing needed for an encyclopedia, and when one of those editors says "I thnk it's ready" they'll help you to move it back into articlespace ES&L 19:56, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Scoocher16, if you really can't see how those phrases are promotional and don't belong in an encyclopedia, you really shouldn't be editing Wikipedia beyond posting suggestions for changes on article talk pages. That's why we have the WP:COI guide, and why PR people are generally unwelcome, because too often they are blind to their own conflict of interest. Wikipedia does not exist for your publicity purposes. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:37, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Ward J. M. Hagemeijer

I noticed this guy near the top of the Special:WantedPages as of its last gasp December 13. This is because the birds wikiproject spammed a mention of his article (and a bunch of other bluelinks) to 16,000 pages. (uggh, I know, but it's irrelevant anyway) I haven't read the article and have no idea if he's notable or not, but he's authored some number of books and seems like a perfect candidate for a Draft:Ward J. Comment: the article is about a football coach with a long string of managerial positions One seems to be at FK Rabotnički, a Macedonian first league club. He's also asserted to have played for two first league clubs. There are unfortunately no references to show any of this. I'm not sure it's an A7, but it may not meet our notability standards and in any case it can't be accepted without references. DGG ( talk ) 17:32, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
