GA nom for Murder of Julia Martha Thomas?
[edit]Thanks for your kind words about Murder of Julia Martha Thomas. It would be nice to take it up to GA but I have to admit that I'm a bit sceptical about the usefulness of GA nominations. Looking at the GA candidates page, I see nominations there that have gone untouched since April. It seems to be hit and miss whether anyone would actually do a GA review of it. Prioryman (talk) 20:20, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- So are you considering submitting directly to FA? Albeit not reading it fully, I'd say you'd probably be safe skipping GA, which is really just a formality in cases like yours. But yes, people eventually do review everything. But I'd say a direct jump to FA is okay. -- Zanimum (talk) 16:58, 18 July 2011 (UTC)
- That's pretty much what I was thinking of, yes. I'll wait until the article appears on DYK before taking it to FA. I'll leave you a message when I've submitted it - I'd welcome any comments you might have. Prioryman (talk) 22:46, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Your Edit to Upper Arlington, Ohio
[edit]Though you may feel otherwise, I do not believe that adding a picture of a girl "planking" in Fancyburg Park to the Upper Arlington, Ohio page is a relevant addition. Further, it detracts from the page's necessary information. Is planking even a major activity that is cited as unique to Upper Arlington's parks? Please reconsider your entire edit to the page, if only to correct your mistaken spelling. Thanks! --76.181.72.77 (talk) 06:16, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Canada's Wonderland Medieval Faire
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that if you are creating an article about the Medieval Faire at the park, and there already one about International Street , i think every section of the park (White water canyon, Action Zone, International Festival etc) should have their own article on Wikipedia... what ya think???--Dom497 (talk) 12:44, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Dom, yeah, I presume to at least write about Festival and Expo (1981-2008), the remaining original sections. Personally not being big on coasters, I'll certainly contribute to an Action Zone article, but I don't think I know enough to lead development on it. Perhaps White Water Canyon be merged with Splashworks some how? I don't know how many sources are available for either. But, in short, yes, every section deserves its own article. It'll certainly help spread the copious amounts of information out, so that the main article can be more tightly focused on the big picture. -- Zanimum (talk) 14:09, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

This review will help improve the article before I nominate it for featured article status. If you are willing to do it, please let me now ASAP. Thanks!!!--Dom497 (talk) 22:45, 29 August 2011 (UTC)
- Honestly, my knowledge of Wonderland is mainly limited to the early years. The only rides I've ridden there are Ghoster Coaster, Haunted Mansion, and the Antique Carousel. I'd love to help, but I don't know how much insight I can bring, coaster fan-wise. It's best to get an outsider's review of the article, to get an honest opinion of the prose. Even if they can't tell a Zamperla flying coaster from a B&M hyper, what matters most is the writing, sourcing, etc.
- The image of the dampers at Knott's and sign at Knott's should be cropped, to eliminate the watermarking. The image is free licensed, so we're allowed to modify it. I can guarantee that, with watermarking, it won't pass FA. I'm also wondering about the amount of text on this image. It seems a little too much, particularly with regards to swing poles. -- Zanimum (talk) 23:59, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Re: International Street (Canada's Wonderland) peer review
[edit]Hi, the peer review has already been closed and further comments should not be made there. Regardless, I took a look at your replies there. For the map (File:International Street map.png), you need to provide the sources for the geographical outlay and such (on the image page) for others to verify that the places are as such indicated. Also take care not to slavishly reproduce copyrighted maps.
The key problem for this article is the lack of reliable secondary sources. While primary sources can be used, they should be sparingly so and they can only be used for uncontroversial facts. If an article relies heavily on primary sources, it can be a source of concern. All this rules about sourcing can be found under Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources.
Items that rely on primary sources may not be important aspects of the subject. Wikipedia is not here to share the nitty, gritty details of the subjects; it is to present a comprehensive encyclopaedic overview (short enough to be interesting, long enough to satisfy any additional cravings, but not overly large to leave one gasping for breath). Because of a lack of coverage by reliable sources, some subjects may never have comprehensive articles on Wikipedia. Heavy use of primary sources is a possible indication of this. In editing this article, you have to consider that. Jappalang (talk) 07:14, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

The article Great South Africans (television series) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable, possibly copyvio. cf. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/200 Greatest Israelis. List articles that simply reproduce lists published elsewhere are non-notable.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 07:48, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

File:John Haggert.gif needs authorship information
[edit]The media file you uploaded as File:John Haggert.gif appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:
{{subst:usernameexpand|Zanimum/Archive 20/Archive 19/Archive 14}}
will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
- If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.

MSU Interview
[edit]Dear Zanimum,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 07:26, 12 February 2012 (UTC) Young June Sah --Yjune.sah (talk) 22:35, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
New Page Triage engagement strategy released
[edit]Hey guys!
I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyeswikimedia.org.
It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:31, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
The article Puppy BASICS has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not notable.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SummerPhD (talk) 03:07, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Actually it was already only on semi-protection, not on full administrator-only protection. Indef is a separate issue, which is about the length of time rather than the user level — and while I'll happily unprotect the article, anybody with protection/unprotection ability is allowed to make that judgement call at any time. So aside from the fact that the protection queue appears to be a bit backlogged, it didn't strictly have to wait for me to come back and unprotect it myself — but that's neither here nor there. I'll unprotect it now, but since you're probably monitoring the page more closely than I am right now, let me know if any issues crop up again. Bearcat (talk) 21:51, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

DYK - Medieval Faire (Canada's Wonderland)
[edit]I hate being the bearer of bad news, but I've just reviewed your DYK nomination for Medieval Faire (Canada's Wonderland), but it doesn't meet the criteria, as it hasn't been expanded enough, recently enough (it needs to be made five times bigger (i.e. 10kb -> 50kb) in the 5 days before nomination). It may be possible to create a new article from the added material, provided the new stuff is notable enough to merit that in it's own right. I'm not sure what else to say, other than I learned the hard way myself! If you want a second opinion, I'll happily change the voting symbol from a to a on the DYK template. The article Geoffrey James has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. joe deckertalk to me 21:33, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Suicide Six
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Suicide Six, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Non-free rationale for File:Web subservient chicken michael jackson moves.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Web subservient chicken michael jackson moves.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Speedy deletion nomination of Peter Robertson (politician)/sandbox
[edit]A tag has been placed on Peter Robertson (politician)/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.
If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 06:11, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
The article PROMO! Awards has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- non-notable award.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 04:53, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
RE : Algo Centre Mall Collapse
[edit]I just thought I'd thank you for your help expanding and cleaning up the Algo Centre Mall article, much appreciated. I've nominated it for ITN, and added you as one of the credits for the article expansion. There's just one weak oppose vote so far, not sure whether article contributors can vote. I'm also planning to put it in DYK, I'm asking on the article talk page for ideas on a "hook". -- Zanimum (talk) 00:51, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
- On a side note, good to see you're back at Wikipedia. I thought you might be newer, but I now see you've been her since 2008. Wow! -- Zanimum (talk) 00:53, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
- I will continue to update the article as time goes by. Also, thank you for welcoming me back to Wikipedia. It's kinda tricky, as I never really left, just didn't have time to edit that much. (I just mostly read articles) But now that I have graduated, I have more time to make actual contributions. Oh and if you're curious, I was here since '06, under a different account. (I would have been 12 at that point) [2] Acebulf (talk) 01:03, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, just seeing that now, that you were around. (Thought I'd link to that chart, just in case you weren't aware of it.) Cool, that's always great when people contribute at that age. I in 2002, at 15 or 16 (?), and the reason I'm a sysop is that I had a first period spare in grade 10 (?). I would sit on recent changes in the library, when there were literally maybe only a few other sysops on Wikipedia, and revert vandalism. It was basically "hi, I'm new, I'd like to be an admin", and "okay, sure" a dozen times on the nomination board. -- Zanimum (talk) 01:21, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
GAN Talkback
[edit]Talk:Algo Centre Mall/GA1. Thanks! ⇒TAP 11:12, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Looking through some of your articles I'm concerned about you misuse of paragraphs. A lot of your paragraphs are way too short and its unnecessary for them to be separate and should be merged. You're doing great work, but just try to avoid short paragraphs as it disrupts article flow and quality of reading.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:04, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Ping, just in case you forget. --George Ho (talk) 16:16, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
- Shall I move this to WP:april Fool's Main Page/Did You Know then? You verified that this is well-researched and written, right? By the way, I think using templates to transclude images would clarify things, as I don't see question marks or ticks. --George Ho (talk) 04:15, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
DYK for Algo Centre Mall
[edit]I've confirmed only one of four hooks for the Algo Centre Mall dyk nomination, the other three had various issues, some of which probably need to be corrected regardless of their effect on DYK. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Tomsimlee (talk) 18:17, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Medieval Faire GA review
[edit]I've completed the initial review now. There are some sections that need a bit of revision and I've noted all that down on the review. Generally it's in pretty good shape so it's on hold while you have a look at my comments. Bladeboy1889 (talk) 17:39, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Elliot Moose
[edit]Just curious, do you have any idea why you ever moved Elliot Moose to Elliot Moose (TV series)? There isn't anything else by that name, so the (TV series) part isn't needed. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 05:12, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- At some point, there needs to be an article about the book series that the television program was based on. -- Zanimum (talk) 12:33, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

File:Kipling-interior.jpg
[edit]You uploaded File:Kipling-interior.jpg to Commons and describe it as "Picture taken by Kareeser", without giving the source. A good article review is taking place here Talk:Kipling_(TTC)/GA1 for the subway station. Under these circumstances I would like to verify the licensing, since the image is being used in the Infobox and I think it is probably the best we currently have. Do you know the photographer or the source? Secondarywaltz (talk) 19:48, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Secondarywaltz, sorry for the delayed reply. I've poked into the "View and restore deleted pages" for that image...
== Summary == Took picture myself. Picture of Kipling Subway Station with Eastbound train at left side of picture. == Licensing == {{GFDL}}
- I guess I chose the wrong option on the drop-down box on the Commons upload page... either that, or I believe the folks behind GFDL facilitated the transition of old GFDL images to Creative Commons, through {{GFDL|migration=relicense}}? Not sure. -- Zanimum (talk) 23:20, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Do you mean that you transferred the file to Commons from Wikipedia and the original uploader is a user there? If that is true, then you do know the source and photographer, except it is not stated in the information and description. Secondarywaltz (talk) 14:21, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Cover of the book Pierrot the Clownfish.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Cover of the book Pierrot the Clownfish.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box.
