Station stops

[edit]

I am doing an unofficial survey to see if there is any desire to create a series of articles on Züm station stops like the existing Vivastations of York Region Transit. Zum runs from York University through all of the Viva Orange stations until Martin Grove (VIVA) where the continuity of Züm Queen Route 501 ends - no more station articles. I have created Dixie (Züm Queen) and if a number of regular editors think that this is worthwhile, and are willing to add content and support them, I will continue to do some more. If you think it is a waste of time, I will remove the first example. Secondarywaltz (talk) 16:53, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've always thought the VIVA station articles were stupid, to be honest. That said, they've stood since 2005, an era when even TTC subway station articles were challenged. Anyway, if their bus rapid transit stops qualify for articles, Brampton should too. I'd say go for it. (Note I didn't even know so many GO routes would stop there, that in itself is cool.) -- Zanimum (talk) 17:12, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It just seems strange to stop at the city limits. I'll fill in some more, as time permits. Secondarywaltz (talk) 20:04, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will try to help if I know. Martin Morin (talk) 23:44, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note that there is an AfD in progress for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Highway 50 (Züm Queen). -- Zanimum (talk) 02:32, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Every Vivastation in Viva Orange is in the AfD list, even the the Brampton Terminals! If so, then they must delete all the articles for TTC, New York, London, etc. subway stations as well, right? (Singh001175 (talk) 05:12, 27 June 2011 (UTC))[reply]
If Zum were to be a grade-separated BRT like Ottawa is and Mississauga will be, then definitely yes. But, this is tricky because Viva and Zum have on-street BRT stations. Well, each Vivastation has its own article. So, Zum should have them. However, by September, Zum will invade Mississauga territory, hence requiring all the MiExpress stops to have their own articles as well (How will you differentiate Derry (at Hurontario) from Derry (at Goreway)?). So, this complicates the situation. So I'm gonna recommend to make an article for each of the Zum Queen stops not served by Viva Orange and for each of the Zum Main stops within Brampton ONLY. WP:ALLORNOTHING is never an appropriate argument when dealing with deletion. However, rest assured that the Vivastations are also being listed as candidates for deletion. --Slon02 (talk) 13:43, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than having an article for each stop then getting many of them deleted (which is what is happening to Viva) Zum should start with a page in the style of the Other Vivastations article and have separate articles only for terminals. I doubt we would be having this issue if we had just made a single page for all minor stops. Reaperexpress (talk) 02:31, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Separate 501 Queen article

[edit]

I'm considering creating a separate "Züm 501 Queen" to hold the information specific to the currently operating service (route history, stops, service details). I think the page is warranted because I've found the individual Viva route articles to be useful and convenient, and there are tons of links to this bus route (as opposed to the system) on other articles. Any thoughts? Reaperexpress (talk) 03:07, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Züm Queen is a redirect. No need to change any links. Martin Morin (talk) 20:37, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that is better. "Queen" is the corridor. 501 and 501A are routes.
