Request for review

[edit]

Hi Acebulf! I would like to request you for reviewing my draft page Epos 257 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Epos_257). I know that it was already reviewed and unfortunately declined, nevertheless I have rewritten it and I would like to ask you very much to check the article if at least a little possible...Thank you very much! Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

[edit]

Hi Acebulf, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Feline cystitis

[edit]

Hello, thanks so much for your welcome on the page I edited for Feline Cystitis. I will definitely create an account as I would like to develop the page and create new ones on cat health. I don't know much about the technical aspects of this so I hope you don't mind if I ask questions. I will start adding further references as soon as possible, I just didn't have time yesterday. Also, if you read the article, do you mind telling me if you thought it was clear and comprehensible to the layman. I was worried it might sound too technical. My motivation for this page comes from the fact that my cat died of this disease and I am desperate to raise awareness of it so others can get credible information (as the information elsewhere on the web is often incorrect and out of date). Thanks. 86.19.41.43 (talk) 21:00, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to Solid State Physics

[edit]

Hi, I saw that you posted a prose template on this page (Introduction to Solid State Physics) and was wondering if you could explain more. Is it just the reception section or maybe that and the content section? If so, can the banner not go in the individual sections so it is more clear what needs to be fixed? Publications and table of contents in list form is fairly common among book articles (I think at least the publication list is standard). I tend to float the table of contents to the right and add in prose when sources allow, but I haven't found enough information yet to justify that. Anyways, there is over 3 KB of prose in the article, which alone makes it much larger than a stub, so I don't think the article as a whole has a prose issue. Thanks for your time. Footlessmouse (talk) 01:54, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Footlessmouse: My concerns were mostly regarding the publication history section. I'm not sure if it should be collapsed, or put into smaller text, or something, which is why I put the tag instead of fixing it. The tag can be moved to that section, if you'd like. Request for AfC review

[edit]

Hello, I submitted draft:Iqos back in December and even though it has been positively reviewed by a couple of editors I suspect it has now been buried within the huge AfC backlog (This and my COI which I declared might put people off).

I've based my work off the Assessment grading scheme and I'm pretty happy with the draft (70+ citations, images and so on). I posted a request for review on the WIkipedia Brands Talk page about a week ago, hoping that someone would be there to give it the last push, however it looks as though the project is dormant. I saw that you were active on AfC, would you mind taking a look at the draft? There is another project I would like to start and I would like to know that I am approaching this correctly. Thank you ever so much and hope that you have a lovely day. --Aphis Marta (talk) 08:57, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and thanks for your comment! I had in fact decided to make such a table after looking at IPhone#Models and Raspberry_Pi#Specifications and because I found it interesting to show the product's evolution over time, but I agree this may be seen very differently. Ah well, the pictures remain on Commons anyway, so it was not work done in vain. Cheers, Aphis Marta (talk) 09:21, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AFC Helper News

[edit]

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. AFDs

[edit]

Hello, Acebulf,

If you are considering starting to close AFD discussions, please review, thoroughly, Wikipedia:Non-admin closure so you know when it is appropriate for you to close a discussion. I don't think it was smart for you to close that AFD discussion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ecole Mondiale World School, Juhu, days earlier than it should have been but I'm not going to revert your closure and reopen the discussion. But it could easily be challenged by an editor who disagrees with the outcome. It's important that you understand BADNAC.

Also, if you close a deletion discussion, you need to put {{nac}} by your signature to indicate that you are not acting as an administrator. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:37, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz: I closed it because AFD is the wrong process for turning a duplicate article into a redirect, and that opinion was already stated by another editor in the discussion. The closure respected every facet of WP:NACD, including using the nac template.
The decision was uncontroversial. I am allowed to terminate early per WP:PCLOSE. If you believe I acted in error, bring it up at WP:DRV.
If you object to non-admin closures as a matter of principle, feel free to bring it up at the village pump rather than admonishing users that act boldly to correct clear procedural errors. Acebulf (talk | contribs) 13:01, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Acebulf,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
