Roof tent edit
Hi there,
My concern about the Gordigear image is that the IP address associated with the edits is from the same town as Gordigear, so I think they're spamming.
I'm the one who took the other image of the ARB roof tent on my Nissan Patrol and am not in any way, shape or form associated with ARB.
Ultimately, if it was two individual users who did not have an association with either company, I'd have no problem with the Gordigear image, but because it appears to be Gordigear themselves spamming, I take issue with it.
Uneekwahn (talk) 00:57, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- I can understand your concern and perspective, however there is nothing overtly promotional or spammy about the content they uploaded. Simply uploading a photo isn't sufficient, and there can be multiple reasons to explain why this might not be actual WP:SPAM. The content adds to the value of the article, and does virtually nothing to promote Gordigear - they didn't attempt to create an article for the company, include a wikilink or even an external link. The image itself isn't used on their website, nor anything else - it appears to have been first published on wiki. The only reason why I restored both is there appears to be a clear edit war and there is nothing preventing having both photos on the page to illustrate the variations on the topic of Roof tent. However, if anything, the edit war over this image, and your insistence on it being promotional, draws some spotlight on to you, and potential conflict of interest. If you continue to push the issue, I would probably restore the image as it appeared here which would remove BOTH the Gordigear and your image. What reason did you have to replace that perfectly acceptable image anyways? Tiggerjay (talk) 20:46, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

new article M.Cander - question
Dear Tigegerjay,
You replied my question in helpdesk. I am trying to make my article better according your advices. Unfortunately I do no undestrand one your sentence.
"Exhibitions are just a simple list that is unreferences/cited, you might do better with replacing the list with a narrative which citations"
Are you able to send me some example? I can not understand what you mean :)
And another question? where should we communicate? here? in your talk? or in helpesk section?
Regards, Pawel LINK to draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Micha%C5%82_Cander — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zbik89 (talk • contribs)
- @Zbik89: that is a great question. A good example would be to see this specific page regarding the preference of prose versus lists: WP:PROSE. Hopefully that will be very helpful as it provides an example of a list that is converted into a much more friendly prose format. As far as where to talk, it is best to keep communication all on one page. Add this page to your watchlist so you can be aware of anytime I make a reply - see WP:WATCH... Tiggerjay (talk) 19:36, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
Dear Tigegerjay, I have prepared article as you suggested. Please be so kind and check my prose version. It would be great to know if should I do something more to publish my article on Wikipedia :) Thank you in advance for your support!

Dear Tiggerjay,
Could you answer my last question about my new article :) I have edited and informed you but I am not sure that I prepared it correctly.

/* Requested move Melleny Brown -> Melleny Melody */
Hi,
Sorry I'm still new to this Wikipedia editing thing. I found some official sources to support the move to change Melleny Brown to Melleny Melody and left it on the talk page. Wasn't too sure if I needed to drop a message here to notify you or not. Buddroyce (talk) 05:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
I actually managed to get a whole bunch of old newspaper and magazine articles from someone close to the artist supporting the artists usage of Melody instead of Brown as her common name. Just gotta upload get them uploaded somewhere.Buddroyce (talk) 22:51, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

University Bible Fellowship article - web team
Hi Tiggerjay, just calling your attention to the UBF group, which has publicly announced they have formed a committee to update their University Bible Fellowship article. This is crazy! Here is the announcement: http://www.ubf.org/world-mission-news/international-hq/ubf-web-management-committee-report Bkarcher (talk) 17:15, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Bkarcher: time to add it back to my watchlist. Please let me know if you start to see vandalism, as a semi-protect would probably be in order. But we don't protect pages in fear of something, so we'll need to wait for obvious abuse before taking action. I did reach out to the author of that post, and sent him a kind email advising him of COI/NPOV/V/RS, etc. Tiggerjay (talk) 17:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. Looks like the anonymous edit-warring has begun. I will abstain from editing. Bkarcher (talk) 11:50, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
- Good choice by abstaining from editing! This one edit really isn't a big problem, not really contentious. However I did remove it simply because Guadalajara was not mentioned anywhere in the article, so it is not an appropriate external link. Tiggerjay (talk) 19:32, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

University Bible Fellowship
Hi tiggerjay, I would like to request your help. Bkarcher has removed my edit yesterday. I added two new sources saying that UBF is a member of two organizations. It is a fact. But he claims it is self-promotion. Would you help me in regards to this matter? thank you ahead of time. [User:Aguynamedjohnlee] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aguynamedjohnlee (talk • contribs) 19:30, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- John Lee, as a ubf member, you cannot come here and promote your own organization. Also, please notify people when you accuse them of being a sock puppet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Bkarcher/Archive Bkarcher (talk) 19:41, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- tiggerjay, I requested to discuss these edits by johnlee in the talk page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:University_Bible_Fellowship#Notable_memberships Bkarcher (talk) 19:47, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
@Aguynamedjohnlee: - thank you for contacting me on this matter. At the moment I don't have time to assist with this matter. However here is some recommendations. Carefully read and understand WP:COI, I believe you would be considered to have a close connection to this topic. As such, even edits with good intentions could be met with extra scrutiny. While you're not prohibited from editing the article directly, as you've already observed, people haven't liked the changes. The best route is to discuss the proposed changes on the article talk page, which I see you're doing. This specific article has some very passionate users who edit Wikipedia in a specific BIAS, and even simple changes, such as adding memberships, can be controversial. If I had time, I would be happy to help mentor you in bringing about these changes, but instead perhaps you can seek out help from WP:Teahouse where someone might be able to help guide you on constructively editing that page. Another recommendation would be to become involved in editing a completely unrelated page you have an interest in... this could be a musical artist, movie, hobby, etc., and get the hang of the process with an article which is not controversial. Best of luck! Tiggerjay (talk) 20:25, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
